*Disclaimer: This review is only for The Bar downstairs, not the restaurant itself. (Though I can…read moretell, the food there does look legit). Having been to most of the high-end hotel and bougie bars in London, my taste in bars has skyrocketed to an unhealthy extent. And, this bar still ticks off most of my boxes. The cocktails are some of the best you'll find this side of the Thames, which - considering the part of town you're in - is saying a lot. The seasonal menus never disappoint, and the ingredients and alcohol used are always top-notch. So, obviously, expect a higher price tag. Unfortunately, the menu since I was last here has changed, so there's no point telling you which ones I've tried; however, I can also vouch for their classics. Trust me, you won't run short of options here, so just tell the highly-qualified bartender what you like, and they'll hook you up. Bar snacks are also available, and they go hand-in-hand with the restaurant's offerings, which remain true to the Cantonese cuisine. The staff can be a bit cold/ socially awkward, but I wouldn't take that too personally. It is Mayfair, after all.

They serve it in 2 courses and it never disappoints. We also had corn soup, lobster dumplings, scallop dumplings amongst other things. Will be back for sure.

Given that I am prone to strange cravings brought upon mostly by nostalgia, I didn't think twice…read morewhen my friend visited from Japan wanting "Panda Express" Chinese. Thinking to myself, "How hard could it be to find mall-quality faux Chinese food?" I steered us to Kam Fung. She could get her kung pao chicken and I figured I'd find something. Hainanese chicken rice seemed like a good choice so I went with that. What arrived at our table made Panda Express look like a darn delicacy! I'd take fried fluorescent orange poultry over this any day of the week. My Hainanese chicken rice was goopy and unappetising and tasted worse than it looked. My friend fared slightly better with her order but not by much. I felt majorly ripped off paying the bill and still had hunger pangs as we left. To Kam Fung, I would not return.

It is unarguably the best Chinese take-away I've tried in London, though it loses out by a hair to some other places in the dine-in stakes. Their portions are HUGE which is reflected in slightly higher prices than a bog-standard Chinese, but you very much get what you pay for. Their duck is great, thai roast pork is amazing with a beautiful vinaigrette swimming with garlic and chilli. Crispy beef are incredibly moreish and the best I've ever had. Of all the years of having food at Kam Fung I didn't once have a duff dish, though as Joanne's friend (see review below) advised, that may be because I dodged the clichéd dishes. Stick with something other than the faux-Chinese BS that pervades every menu in this country and you'll do fine! Service is friendly, prices are very reasonable, food is excellent. Fully deserving of 5 stars as it does what it sets out to do excellently. It may not be the most refined restaurant, but within its field it is unquestionably the best.

Our favorite Michelin so far. We have been collecting Michelin Starred restaurant experiences for a…read morefew years and had to try this on our recent UK leg of our honeymoon. And it immediately became our favorite so far. It may seem strange to say that then give it only 4 stars but the only item that was odd to us was the way you order. It was quite unclear. It is a set menue, with various price points. It was not made clear to us initially that when choosing a menu, you are choosing the ENTIRE MENU, not choosing a menu then items off that chosen set list. Had we understood that we may have gone with something else as I have stomach issues that making eating out a bit of an ordeal. So when talking about a set menu at this price point that can get quite tricky as you can imagine. However4 I did notify the staff at the time of booking and they did go above and beyond to distinctly point out everything that may be problematic for me in each dish. I did not end up having issues post meal. It was also quite loud and we're just getting older and have less of a tolerance for that now. The food was all delicious, even if we weren't totally sure what were eating all the time. They did not scoff at or seem judgey when I had to ask for a fork - I'm just really bad with chopsticks (think food flinging out of my hand into my lap) I did not love my specialty Negroni that I ordered off the cocktail menu. It was very sweet for a Negroni, but I did love my second, classic, basic one. it was very good. My husband loved both of his drinks (Old Fashioned's). They also comped our desserts and sent out a special Happy Honeymoon message on one additional dessert, which was very sweet and unexpected of them. A note I constantly see on Michelin starred restaurants as a complaint is that you spend a lot of money to leave a bit hungry, and yes it is very expensive, but we were not hungry when we left. It is hardly a normal price point but you are getting a great evening and not leaving hungry.
