Who would've thought you could find Hainan chicken in London's bustling, long-standing Borough Market? Even more, who would've thought you could find a seat to eat it? As anyone knows who's been here, the market is a continuous zoo, a flurry of lookie-loo tourists near-impossible to bypass. I had read about this stand, so we thought it might be our ideal first meal in London.
Jamie W. and I were having a dickens of a time trying to find it, but after considerable roaming, we found it on Rochester Walk within view of Stoney Street. They had a comparatively good size stall, and the screens made it easy to order. Predictably we both went for the £13.75 Hainanese Chicken Rice which had a hearty portion of poached chicken over the broth-infused rice.
It came with cucumber slices, cilantro, and minced ginger-garlic sauce in a compact bowl (photo: https://yelp.to/rfl77qgnH2). With no Coke Zeros in sight, we got a couple of £5 cans of Karma Ginger Ale (photo: https://yelp.to/c5KRVRZ_5_). Groovy can. Best of all, there was a small open counter dedicated just to their customers. Enough room for us, and the Hainan chicken was blessedly tender and succulent. Welcome to London!
