I wanted something different and special for my boyfriend's birthday. We've done the usual suspects -- Addison, Callie, Mister A's, etc. -- and while they're all great, I was looking for more of an experience. I turned to Reddit, and Three Three Seven came highly recommended. The atmosphere is cozy, personable, and elevated. It feels like dining with friends you've never met, all gathered for something special. With no more than 8-10 seats, it's intimate in the best way. The food was delicious and intentional, but watching the chefs prepare each course was the real treat. Every dish came with an explanation of the inspiration and the personal stories that shaped each bite. It was a memorable, glorious evening. Now we're looking for a Saturday table!

I've never had a better meal in my life and I've eaten at some of the finest restaurants in the world. Chef manages to source the most fresh and local food and serve it to you in a way that is so non pretentious. It blows my mind how he can make food taste. It's an absolute treat for the senses. Service is only 8 people in a room and there's only four people serving you.

I want to start off by saying that please do not be deterred by my rating! If i could i would do a 3.5/5! To start: such a great and neat experience! I definitely recommend it. It's unique, intimate and warm. Chef and his staff are absolutely welcoming, professional and kind. The setting is charming and quiet. Very well put together! The food was good, some items were delicious and other items were okay. What really upset me the most was the wine pairing. I do not recommend adding this on. Approximately $120 (6 glasses). The price wouldn't have been such a big deal if the wine served was actually good and if the pours were actually full not just 3oz pours. Sorry but not even NAPA wineries charge $120 for tastings! On-top of that, they paired the dessert course with Roscato (literally a $10 bottle you can find at any grocery store). I highly recommend going to wineries and snagging wine bottles that can only be bought at the winery. And to add, two of the six tastings did not pair well with the course, the wine tasted bitter after. I was extremely disappointed in that and thats the main reason im leaving a 3 star review.

Three Three Seven is hands down the best meal of my life. We did the Six at Seven and every course felt like a story, Chef Jay Fernell, a Louisiana native, combines southern soul food that have meaning to him growing up with California freshness in a way that's both comforting and elevated. The intimate setting (just eight seats a night) makes it feel like you're part of the magic, watching him finish each dish right in front of you while sharing the inspiration behind the flavors. Six courses later, I left full and happy. This isn't just dinner, it's an experience I'll be dreaming about until I come back. Pro tip: add the wine pairing. The sommelier there has really done well with making the wine and food pop!

Overall the experience was amazing. Ambiance was cool, service was awesome, and the food was phenomenal. I really enjoyed the chefs story behind every dish and the upgrade options. My only complaint was the wine. I felt like it was lackluster, wines you would buy at Total Wine and More. For the price I would have expected better quality. The food was by far the stand out!!

This dining experience was truly the highlight of our trip. Honestly, I almost don't want to leave a review because I know it'll just make it harder to get a reservation... but it's too good not to share. Chef Jay is incredible. The whole experience feels like you're dining in someone's chic loft in Soho, New York with black walls, wood floors, and seating for only eight guests at a time. It's intimate, unique, and unlike anywhere else. Every dish was absolutely delicious, and Chef Jay personally explains each one, which makes it even more special. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the attention to detail was unmatched. Huge thanks to Chef Jay and the entire team for making us feel so at home. We can't wait to come back and we're already looking forward to the fall menu!

The best restaurant in San Diego! We came for our anniversary and it was amazing. All the dishes were perfectly cooked and unique in the best way. The chicken skin with caviar was one of the best things I've ever had. Chef Jay is great and we can't wait to come back in the near future and try their Fall menu!

We sat inside, though there is also a lovely patio outside with umbrellas. The service was friendly and the restaurant was clean. It was a bit noisy inside since there isn't much to absorb the sound, so you may need to speak a little louder during conversation. I did find the lunch menu to be expensive. We came here to celebrate my sister's birthday, and everyone seemed happy with their dishes: a shrimp po' boy sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, and pasta with tomato cream sauce and shrimp. I ordered the chicken po' boy sandwich. The sandwiches were served with seasoned fries, but unfortunately the fries looked and tasted like they had been sitting for a a while--dry and not very fresh. My chicken po' boy was disappointing. The sandwich had tomatoes and some iceberg lettuce, but no sauce, which made it very plain. While the chicken itself was tender, it lacked flavor and the overall dish felt like it wasn't prepared with much care. For a $21.50 sandwich that was essentially a few pieces of chicken breast with tomatoes, lettuce, and old fries, it felt like an expensive mistake. Perhaps other dishes on the menu are excellent. However, having grown up with a father who was a top chef, I tend to notice when simple dishes--like sandwiches and fries--aren't executed well. These are usually some of the easiest things to get right, which made the experience even more disappointing for me.

The best seafood boil in all of San Diego in my opinion, and I've tried many places (yes, including…read moreCrab Hut). The main reasons why this is my top spot are: -Seafood Quality - the clams here are BIG and don't fall out of the shell, and the shrimp is always perfectly cooked and not mealy. The crab clusters are big and juicy as well. -Sauce - I always get the Torpedo Sauce (the house mix-of-all-of-them sauce) but instead of just tasting like garlic, lemon, old bay, "the sum is equal to more than the parts". In other words, the flavors meld together and are magical. I have heard some say that the sauce here leans sweet, and it definitely does have sugar, but I find it balanced. Also, it is mostly emulsified and does not have a thick layer of pure oil that runs off the seafood like some places' sauces. -Other Factors: they used to have a free fries deal for posting on social media (gone as of Feb '26 though), but they still have $1 oysters on some days, I like their fruit tea pitchers which are great for large parties, and they also give free Vietnamese chè for dessert! I rank this higher than Crab Hut because a) it's cheaper, Crab Hut is expensive even for seafood boil, and b) I prefer the sauce here. But Crab Hut is also S tier in San Diego so you can't go wrong with either.

The flavor overall was really good--the sauce had a nice depth and was well-seasoned. That said, the shrimp and crawfish were unfortunately overcooked and came out pretty mushy, which took away from the experience. With seafood, texture really makes a difference, so that was a bit disappointing. There's definitely potential here because the flavor is solid, but hoping for better execution next time.

We came on a weeknight in January and easily found parking out front. The restaurant is more of a bungalow, and it's quiet and really pretty on the outside. There is a door on the left of the stairs that leads to a small, old timey dining room, and it's going to be weird...I'll warn you about that. When you open the door, it feels like you just walked in on someone's private dinner party. It's super quiet in there and it's just a bunch of tables. No host/hostess. You seat yourself if there's a table. A server comes in and out of the room to serve the tables. The Mac and cheese was meh, we ordered it for a toddler. The crawfish étouffée was so good, they did not skimp on crawfish. I like it a little spicier, but this was what I needed. I would definitely come back here! If it's a cold night, dress accordingly, this bungalow is not insulated and the server comes in and out, so it was freezing. Can't imagine the heat in summer, but the food is worth it.

The picky eaters ordered Mac and cheese with andouille sausage and we got both sizes: petite and regular. You can tell it was made from scratch and it was very cheese and runny. We got the dark roux gumbo with shrimp, chicken and sausage. The flavor was on point; however I wish it was more of the holy trinity and that the sausage was cut in medallions vs pieces. Our waiter was so helpful and patient and since we paid in cash the 4% surcharge for credit cards wasn't charged. I recommend!

The Cajun fries held their own too. Prices are fair, actually a bit cheaper than comparable spots in SD, and the space itself is large, clean, and nice inside. We were seated quickly with no wait. That said, a few things brought the experience down. The staffing was clearly not enough for the volume of guests -- as the night picked up, service noticeably slowed, and it felt like the waiters were stretched thin through no fault of their own. That's a management issue. The sausage portion options are oddly limited too -- only a half pound or full pound, nothing in between, which feels unnecessarily restrictive. Biggest miss: the calamari. One bite and I was done -- it had "frozen grocery store bag" written all over it. Skip it entirely. The garlic bread is in the same boat, obviously store-bought, though it's passable enough. Stick to the seafood boil, avoid the appetizers, and hope you visit on a well-staffed night.

The fried shrimp had great flavor and seasoning on the breading. I personally would've liked them fried just a little harder for a bit more crisp, but they were still very tasty and fresh. For dessert, I had the peach cobbler. The flavor was really good and comforting, but I would've liked a little more juice in it. It would also be great if they offered an option to heat the cobbler, which would take it to another level. Interior is cute , screams New Orleans.
