OK, first of all an admission: I use the phrase "hidden gem" *way* too often in my Yelp reviews. But The Three Sisters bake, and Quarriers Village in which it's located are both bona-fide hidden gems!
Beautifully decorated inside, the cafe restaurant is bright and airy with large windows letting the daylight stream in. Teatowels hang from the ceiling and decorated plates and clocks adorn the walls, alongside local artists work.
What makes the Three Sisters Bake so special is their sourcing of the best local ingredients. From seafood, meats, teas and coffee; you'll find the best of Scotland served here.
I recently visited for lunch on a Tuesday with my parents, brother and his 7-month old daughter. Despite being busy and without a booking, we were seated at a small table initially, then a larger one after a few minutes. The staff couldn't have been any more helpful and friendly in accommodating us.
The menu was mouthwatering! I chose goats cheese and caramelised red onion parcels, my brother the seafood platter, and my folks the open sandwich and mackerel pate. All were outstanding; freshly prepared (and baked in my case), delicious, and well presented.
Teas, coffee and home pressed juice accompanied, and were also perfect.
We couldn't help but spot the days cakes at the counter, so took a walk over to browse. There's always 3 or so cakes each day, and a GF option, as well as scones, traybakes and pastries. We decided on various cakes and a chocolate brownie. Again, as with the main dishes, not a crumb was left.
To work off lunch, we went for a stroll around the beautiful conservation village - it really is stunning, and well worth a visit.
Three Sisters Bake is a popular place, so if you plan visiting at weekend lunchtimes, booking is advisable. read more
