New upper deck with Trek and maximized views.

Dave and his crew did an outstanding job! Our deck is over 50' from the lowest level of our house. When we bought the house a year ago, we knew that it was unsafe. Stairs were wobbly, it slanted noticeably, pickets were missing, railings shook and more Three Rivers came out with engineers to determine the best deck strategy at the most reasonable cost. They replaced rotting wood posts with steel, removed one set of stairs, rebuilt the top level, and repaired and stabilized another set of stairs, as well as pickets and railings. Dave communicated frequently and listened to our input. The crew was wonderful, did a quality job, and cleaned up when done (not all our contractors have done that). And the result is absolutely fantastic!

After shopping around and getting quotes from a few deck companies, we decided on Three Rivers Custom Decks. Every time we phoned/emailed the office, Blanca was very friendly, informative and responsive. Matt came out with samples, provided information on how the process would work and what to expect. We decided on a Timbertech deck to replace our existing wood deck and added a much wanted pergola to our cement patio. Dave and his crew, Dawson and Brad were awesome! Dave was very communicative and answered our questions, checking in on the progress, bringing supplies and picking up items to be hauled away. Dawson and Brad worked hard everyday on building the deck, then painting and building the pergola. The work area was cleaned up daily before they left for the day and upon final completion. Dave did the final walk-thru and we let him know that we were totally satisfied, everyone was very professional and easy to work with. We have already had a few neighbors come over to see what our deck and pergola look like and they were impressed. We would highly recommend Three Rivers Custom Decks! They may not be the most inexpensive bid you will get, but we felt they were definitely worth the money.

Three Rivers Custom Decks - West Linn, Oregon summer 2023

Three Rivers Custom Decks provided high quality service at a competitive price. The work commenced in a timely manner, and I was kept well informed of the schedule. My deck is on a second story and there was a beautiful tree right smack in their way. Joe, Edgar, and Dave worked around and preserved the tree in its entirety. Also I told them that my father had done some work on my previous deck and the job foreman, Joe, very kindly saved a piece of my fathers work - it meant a lot to me. The job was completed on schedule. A new deck is a great investment in your home, and with composite, it's so nice not to have to hassle with staining and/or peeling paint. A new composite deck was a big investment, but very well worth it. I love my new deck and highly recommend Three Rivers Custom Decks. Mary Jo C. West Linn, Oregon

However, replacing the deck would mean having to update it to current building codes and permits, which would then mean having to hire an engineer for our small 6' x 14' deck... Bruce came over, took a look and casually said, we can add more supports and fix the deck instead of having to replace it. He walked us through all the repairs he would do, he listened to our concerns and wrote up an estimate that weekend. I choose to hire him because of his straightforwardness in answering all my questions, he was so down to earth and friendly, I felt like he was trustworthy. We went from potentially having to wait months and spend $20,000 on a new replacement deck to spending about $5,000 on repairs and taking considerably less time. They were booked out till about October and would contact us when the time came closer, they did just that and were able to fix the deck in a day. We hired him to come back to build a 2nd retaining wall, his son came out and built it in less than an hour. They used high quality materials, I feel like the wood used will last a long time. A year later, we noticed that the deck was starting to sink and consulted with Bruce. He came over, took a look and figured it was probably the ground material was soft and causing the deck to sink. He offered to fix it, FREE OF CHARGE. It wasn't his fault the ground was soft, it just shows how much integrity he has in his work. Hands down, I would recommend him to anyone. My neighbor immediately asked for his contact!

Not a small job, and an emergency one, because she LOVED running around the neighbors' yards. Lucian and his Dad braved the elements on extremely short notice, and built an entire new fence (mostly in the rain) for a great price. They gave me lots of upgrades, like unknotted wood, and thicker footers, and were incredibly fast and efficient. Its beautiful. That should have been enough, but - no - then my about six months later my back neighbors got their own Bernadoodle puppy, and the two dogs decided they didn't want a fence, so my pitty figured out how to pound her head against the boards until they bowed, then get her jaws on the wood, and tear through it. Lucian agreed that metal roof panels attached to the back fence would probably work (either that or an electric cattle fence), so he and his son came back out with the panels, cut them to fit, and spent a day attaching them, which - it turns out - is not as easy as it sounds. Again, quick service and excellent value. This family business, NW Modern, is fantastic, and I highly recommend them. And yes - it appears the metal roof panels are working!

Short Review: I would NEVER recommend this company ever again due to their lack of commitment to stand behind the quality of their company name, as guaranteed on their website. This company is NOTHING like what the previous owner, Brent, built and stood behind. Long Review: I have to agree with Brian F. in regards to the new owner Damon. He is extremely non-responsive. My husband and I worked with Brent, the previous owner, and he was EXCEPTIONAL! Truly! But, we had to reach out this year, 3 yrs after our three level $115k project was completed regarding some settling of some of the posts that needed to be shored up and hoped to get it done quickly. We reached out to Damon in early May 2025 to see about having it looked at. On May 19, 2025, Damon came out to take a look at the decks and said he'd reach out to someone who would be the expert in what would need to be done. After several attempts to receive an update from Damon with no reply, we reached out to the previous owner, Brent, to ask if he could assist in us getting a response from Damon. Finally, on August 5, my husband was able to connect with Grant and shared his frustrations of not receiving any update from Damon. Grant stated he'd talk with Damon and someone would get back to us. Damon called back and stated that the fix for the problem was 'tricky' and he'd be working with another vendor to come and jack up the deck, pour some concrete and get it cared for. That vendor reached out to us on August 26, and came by to assess the decks a few days later. This individual provided what he felt needed to be done and stated that he would let Damon know the solution. It took another 6 weeks of my husband trying to get a response from Damon as to where we were in getting this resolved and at least what it was going to take. We didn't know if Lifestyles would pay for the fix or split it with us or if we would be expected to pay for it ourselves, but we just wanted to have a reply so we could move forward. Today, my husband left another message, stating how we just needed to have a response and that we were concerned about the deck continuing to worsen due to coming into the rainy season. FINALLY, Damon called us back today only to tell us that he was not going to do anything in regards to caring for the repair and that he was 'sorry' that he had not communicated that to us when we initally reached out 5 months prior. He stated that the guarantee of the workmanship was not his problem as the work was done prior to him owning the business. He did not seem to care that the name or the reputation of the company could suffer due to his lack of 'good faith' customer care. I did share that if we would have known that, we could have gotten quotes and had it repaired during the summer months. Now that is the rainy season, will anyone want to take that on? Damon did not seem to care that we were extremely frustrated with the lack of communication and the lack of telling us up front that the responsibility of the repair would be on us. This company is no longer one that I would EVER recommend. You can see by my glowing review in May 2022 when our project was completed and the care that the previous owner, Brent, provided is CLEARLY not the same with the new owner, Damon. We are horribly disappointed.

Short Review: Damon, the new owner made this project take 7 months to do 3 gates and about 80 feet of fencing in total, which was never completed. He requested that we pay an extra 50% for the project AFTER we signed a contract. What work they did do was not made to spec, making a 4 foot wide swing gate to fit into a 3 foot wide opening. We had to fire them, horrible experience. Long Review: We heard glowing reviews from Life Styles Deck and Fence from several people, my parents included. All of the good word of mouth was from when the previous owner Brent was there. Towards the 4th quarter of 2024, Damon took over. When we were getting quoted they came by and drafted a contract for 2 double swing gates, 1 single swing gate, 1 stretch of fence that was 72 feet, and 1 stretch of fence which was 9 feet. We agreed and signed the contract in September of 2024. At the end of October they came out and did most of the 72 foot stretch of fence and demolished the old fencing we were looking to get replaced. After that we had silence. No work was done for several months. Every time I tried to reach out to Damon via email, phone call, or text, it was a coin toss on if I would get a response or not. When I did get a response it was some excuse pushing back the timelines. In January Damon did reach out to me. Not with a schedule, but with a plea that we pay him an extra 50% than what was agreed upon from our contract. 50% extra to get less work done. The contract signed said we were going to get steel frames for all of the gates, welded and powder coated. He asked me to pay 50% more and that would not include powder coating. It wasn't until March (6 months after signing the contract) when we started to get any sort of confirmation that something was getting done. Damon submitted a schedule of when work was to be done and completed. Of course this got pushed back several more weeks until when they finally arrived on site in the middle of April. The workers came by and installed the 4 posts required for the gates. After they left I went and checked on the posts and they were positioned incorrectly. The spacing for the single swing gate was a 3 foot opening. On the contract that we signed it specified a 4 foot gate. The posts are steel posts sunken into concrete, so this isn't exactly an easy fix. I sent an email, called, and texted Damon to confirm the gate sizes as this was now concerning. Radio Silence, again. I then got a call from one of his workers that has been there since Brent was in charge. They told me that Damon instead of having them coming to work on our property as intended by the schedule, had his workers send to a different project entirely. I was also told that the gate sizes made where not the sizes specified on the contract. So now I am stuck with gate posts in the wrong position, only a portion of the fence done, and an open driveway with no barrier to my backyard. Working with Damon has been a nightmare, by far the absolute worst contracting experience in my life. If you are looking for work to be done on your property, look else where.
