Full deck project by Deck Masters, LLC
    Kalie K.

We had a great experience with Deck Masters creating a covered deck off the back of our Portland home. They were responsive from start to finish, listened to our ideas and created exactly the space they were looking for. They had a last minute opening which allowed us to start our project just days after signing the proposal which was awesome, and every day the team was timely and worked hard to complete the project as quickly as they could. No budget surprises and the end cost felt very reasonable for the awesome product we got at the end! Scope included Trex deck, acrylic roof, privacy wall, and cedar L shaped bar. Would highly recommend and will use them again for future projects!

Deck Masters is the best, I highly recommend them to install your deck. From the estimate which was accurate and clear about terms to the installers, Kyle and Eric, to the finished deck we could not be more pleased. The deck is installed in a way it will last many, many years and the installers were careful about our landscaping and cleaned up everyday when they finished for the day. We are so glad we selected this company to replace our deck!

I guess the best I can say is that the job is done and the railing is secure. However for the price I paid I expected MUCH better craftsmanship and customer service. Although, initially he did come back twice to correct his poor workmanship ie: the plastic covering the spindles on the steps was not angled so they weren't secured (on multiple rungs). His answer was "I guess I wasn't paying enough attention", which at that point sent up a red flag. He NEVER came back to replace the part of the railing where the mitre cut was so off that I could have done better and the first thing I see when I walk out on my deck . See pictures below! I also want to add, that the ONLY time the owner of the company (who was my contact person) answered his phone was when he wanted my final payment. Otherwise, I had to leave a message and and wait a minimum of 3 days for return call. When the owner came out to see the work and showed him the big chip in my newly stained steps his answer was "things happen ". Never offering to fix it. The job was started on September 6th, "completed" only a few days later. Have been waiting since the beginning of October for the rest of the issues to be resolved and now it's the beginning of November. I fOnce again....for the amount of money I paid I expected much better craftsmanship ship and customer service.

Beyond happy with the end result! They gave us the most reasonable quote of all the businesses we spoke to and they completed the job well before the projected date. Everything turned out perfect! Will definitely be reaching out to them again for any future projects.

Our entire family couldn't be happier with the work done by Chris, Matt, Kyle, and Richard. From near-daily text updates to change orders to design recommendations, these guys were totally professional and responsive. I've worked with a lot of contractors, but never any dialed in as these guys. Would highly recommend. Oh, and just as important as my family liking the work, my neighbors love it as well!

We recently hired Chris and his team at Deck Masters to build a 400 sf deck and a new picket fence with an arbor. We chose cedar for the fence, arbor and deck railings and Timbertech composite for the decking material. The finished product looks great and the quality of the workmanship exceeded our high expectations. We originally received three bids for this work. One, from the largest deck company in the area, was about $2K higher than the Deck Masters bid. The second bid was the same price as Deck Masters, but the guy they sent out was here for 5 minutes and didn't write anything down. Chris was very thorough and he stayed long enough to answer my questions. He was also patient enough to answer a lot of follow-up questions by email. The construction process lasted about 6 days and the crew kept the site tidy and cleaned up the yard when they were done. The deck is extremely solid and looks like it will last decades. Deck Masters took care of all the permits/city inspections. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to family and friends.

We had been planning a deck on our garage for years. After several lackluster and expensive bids we called Deck Masters. The salesperson and owner (Chris) was professional, responsive and gave us great confidence in his company's work. The project manager (Matt) was flexible with changes and easy to work with on revisions. Our builder (Kyle) and his assistant were punctual, hard working through hot weather and kept their workspace clean everyday. We would recommend them to anybody and we will use them again for future projects!

Short Review: I would NEVER recommend this company ever again due to their lack of commitment to stand behind the quality of their company name, as guaranteed on their website. This company is NOTHING like what the previous owner, Brent, built and stood behind. Long Review: I have to agree with Brian F. in regards to the new owner Damon. He is extremely non-responsive. My husband and I worked with Brent, the previous owner, and he was EXCEPTIONAL! Truly! But, we had to reach out this year, 3 yrs after our three level $115k project was completed regarding some settling of some of the posts that needed to be shored up and hoped to get it done quickly. We reached out to Damon in early May 2025 to see about having it looked at. On May 19, 2025, Damon came out to take a look at the decks and said he'd reach out to someone who would be the expert in what would need to be done. After several attempts to receive an update from Damon with no reply, we reached out to the previous owner, Brent, to ask if he could assist in us getting a response from Damon. Finally, on August 5, my husband was able to connect with Grant and shared his frustrations of not receiving any update from Damon. Grant stated he'd talk with Damon and someone would get back to us. Damon called back and stated that the fix for the problem was 'tricky' and he'd be working with another vendor to come and jack up the deck, pour some concrete and get it cared for. That vendor reached out to us on August 26, and came by to assess the decks a few days later. This individual provided what he felt needed to be done and stated that he would let Damon know the solution. It took another 6 weeks of my husband trying to get a response from Damon as to where we were in getting this resolved and at least what it was going to take. We didn't know if Lifestyles would pay for the fix or split it with us or if we would be expected to pay for it ourselves, but we just wanted to have a reply so we could move forward. Today, my husband left another message, stating how we just needed to have a response and that we were concerned about the deck continuing to worsen due to coming into the rainy season. FINALLY, Damon called us back today only to tell us that he was not going to do anything in regards to caring for the repair and that he was 'sorry' that he had not communicated that to us when we initally reached out 5 months prior. He stated that the guarantee of the workmanship was not his problem as the work was done prior to him owning the business. He did not seem to care that the name or the reputation of the company could suffer due to his lack of 'good faith' customer care. I did share that if we would have known that, we could have gotten quotes and had it repaired during the summer months. Now that is the rainy season, will anyone want to take that on? Damon did not seem to care that we were extremely frustrated with the lack of communication and the lack of telling us up front that the responsibility of the repair would be on us. This company is no longer one that I would EVER recommend. You can see by my glowing review in May 2022 when our project was completed and the care that the previous owner, Brent, provided is CLEARLY not the same with the new owner, Damon. We are horribly disappointed.

Ever since the new owners took over in late 2024, I say steer clear from working with Life Styles…read moreDeck and Fence (aka: Lifestyles Outdoor Living, aka: AMK Outdoors LLC). Short Review: Damon, the new owner made this project take 7 months to do 3 gates and about 80 feet of fencing in total, which was never completed. He requested that we pay an extra 50% for the project AFTER we signed a contract. What work they did do was not made to spec, making a 4 foot wide swing gate to fit into a 3 foot wide opening. We had to fire them, horrible experience. Long Review: We heard glowing reviews from Life Styles Deck and Fence from several people, my parents included. All of the good word of mouth was from when the previous owner Brent was there. Towards the 4th quarter of 2024, Damon took over. When we were getting quoted they came by and drafted a contract for 2 double swing gates, 1 single swing gate, 1 stretch of fence that was 72 feet, and 1 stretch of fence which was 9 feet. We agreed and signed the contract in September of 2024. At the end of October they came out and did most of the 72 foot stretch of fence and demolished the old fencing we were looking to get replaced. After that we had silence. No work was done for several months. Every time I tried to reach out to Damon via email, phone call, or text, it was a coin toss on if I would get a response or not. When I did get a response it was some excuse pushing back the timelines. In January Damon did reach out to me. Not with a schedule, but with a plea that we pay him an extra 50% than what was agreed upon from our contract. 50% extra to get less work done. The contract signed said we were going to get steel frames for all of the gates, welded and powder coated. He asked me to pay 50% more and that would not include powder coating. It wasn't until March (6 months after signing the contract) when we started to get any sort of confirmation that something was getting done. Damon submitted a schedule of when work was to be done and completed. Of course this got pushed back several more weeks until when they finally arrived on site in the middle of April. The workers came by and installed the 4 posts required for the gates. After they left I went and checked on the posts and they were positioned incorrectly. The spacing for the single swing gate was a 3 foot opening. On the contract that we signed it specified a 4 foot gate. The posts are steel posts sunken into concrete, so this isn't exactly an easy fix. I sent an email, called, and texted Damon to confirm the gate sizes as this was now concerning. Radio Silence, again. I then got a call from one of his workers that has been there since Brent was in charge. They told me that Damon instead of having them coming to work on our property as intended by the schedule, had his workers send to a different project entirely. I was also told that the gate sizes made where not the sizes specified on the contract. So now I am stuck with gate posts in the wrong position, only a portion of the fence done, and an open driveway with no barrier to my backyard. Working with Damon has been a nightmare, by far the absolute worst contracting experience in my life. If you are looking for work to be done on your property, look else where.
