Although there are not many restaurants to select from in this town, this is the BEST place to dine in Vernon. Menu is limited. Unsure of what to try, I took upon the recommendation of the friendly server and was recommended either the 1/2 lb burger or Ribeye Philly Cheesesteak. I tried the Ribeye Philly Cheesesteak and my date had the 1/2 lb burger. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and not greasy at all. We also had the freshly cut french fries, which were awesome; not too salty. Highly recommend this restaurant and will be dining here again soon! read more

Run, don't walk to this gem in downtown Vernon. The fried pickles are incredible! A little thicker than normal, with a spicy batter that adds the perfect extra kick served with homemade ranch dressing. I was in love with the Pickles, but had no idea how delicious the Chicken Fried steak would be. WOW! Delicious batter, and the most tender steak ever. I've eaten many CFS in my life, and this would definitely be in the top 3. The waitress was sweet as she could be and I never once needed for anything. I agree with the previous reviewers that Three Hearts is the best restaurant in Vernon. My favorite is the burger. I get it with pepper jack, bacon, mushrooms and jalapenos and have them cook it rare. It is amazing. It is nice and juicy and the patty takes up the whole bun so there are no "wasted" bites. I sometimes get a burger and start eating and wonder why there's so much bun, but then I realize there's a huge amount of patty hanging off the other side!!! The bun is delicious too, and I'm not a big fan of buns. It's kind of sweet and soft, like Hawaiian bread buns. The burgers come with homemade potato chips which are very crispy. I suggest passing on upgrading to their handcut fries, which come out soggy, even if you ask for them extra crispy. For appetizers, I love the fried mushrooms. They come out fresh and piping hot and it's a generous portion of them too. I've probably ordered their ribeye 3 times. The first time it was very good, the other two times quite fatty and chewy, like a previous review said. The country fried chicken is good. Service is way better than the other steakhouse in town. It doesn't take long to be greeted and seated and unless there's a full house, food comes out fairly quickly. read more

It has been somewhat of a hit or miss for me. Been there 3 times so far and the first time was amazing. The steak was cooked perfect, it was juicy and it came out in a timely manner. The second time the steak appeared to have been cooked right but it didn't taste right. It had a real chewy texture and it took a while to come out. I can't remember the third time because it was a last minute decision after a day of drinking. Haha. All in all I'll give it a 4 based on the first trip there. read more

It's fine. They have a lot of fried things on the menu. I am watching what I eat and I have gotten the salmon there twice and twice it was overcooked and rubbery. Everyone else usually seems to like what they get there, so I can only speak for myself. read more

We loved it. Stopped in on our way through town. We walked in and everyone stared at us bc it's a small town and everyone knew everyone except us. Not a bad stare, just curious. Our food was great. I had the steak salad and it was delicious, chuncks of perfect steak on top of a salad - just like it sounds. It hit the spot. My youngest Had the kids chicken tenders. They were hand breaded and she tore them up. I begged for a bite but was basically growled at, guess that was a no. Out of fear of being bitten I backed off. By oldest had the BLT. Now, my oldest is drive you crazy picky, will dissect food, especially bacon and pull off every bit of fat and anything else unsavory, or the word they use is to say it makes them "unappetized". This was a hit for my hometown Vernon, TX! My cousin and I were in town visiting family for the weekend. We were starving after the kids basketball tournaments, so we asked a few of our cousins which of three restaurants we should try. Sadly we don't have many dine-in options in our small town, but we for sure knew we wanted a steak. As an appetizer we ordered the spinach artichoke dip, and amazingly it came with fresh homemade chips. I dropped my phone in the basket and chips scattered all over our table as I as taking my "Yelp check-in" pic lol. Neither of us had any complaints, and we both ordered the exact meal except my cousin got her 12 oz steak medium (I prefer medium-well). We did feel as tho her steak was more medium well, while mine was well. We are them both up still! They have the vegetable of the day option along with a few more side options. I wanted a mixed drink but the only alcohol they sold was beer and wine (my cousin says it tasted cheap and she knows wine)! I have never written a review for somewhere that didn't even eat , but this time I have to. Friday night we were in Vernon for our hometowns football playoff game. And if y'all know Texas, you know this a very big deal! Anyway , the hostess noticed our schools tee shirts and told us that she could get us seated but the kitchen was swamped and that we might not get served fast enough to make kick off. This is an amazing place and, hands down, the very best food in Vernon. The first time I ate here I was trying to be good and stay away from fried so I ordered the meatloaf. It was very good and I enjoyed it tremendously. The second time there I hauled off and went for the chicken fried steak (half order) so not a full commitment. This chicken fry gave me wonderful dreams for several weeks. My only regret was the half order. Since that day I have eaten there two more times. Full size chicken fry with extra gravy both times. I would love to eat here every time I am in town (live 250 miles away) but my only criticism is not being open for lunch on Saturdays. And, it gave us food poisoning, it started with my brother throwing up, and we were like oh goodness he is so sick, then it was my mom and then me. And then for 3 days we had the worst diarrhea and throwing up known to man. we couldn't keep anything down.. Stopped here because of the previous good reviews and it didn't disappoint. The service was friendly from the moment we walked in the door till we left. Our waitress seemed a little ditzy but was super sweet and kept us laughing. The host was a sweet woman who even gave us a discount and didn't have to. Made the drive over from Altus after reading the available reviews and so glad we did. Had the artichoke dip and home-made chips as an appetizer, followed by the chicken fried steak, rib-eye and sirloin steaks as our entrees and we all had the ice-cream and brownie desserts. Everything was top-notch. Large portions, steaks cooked perfectly and service staff were attentive and responsive to all our needs. Went on a Thursday evening which included good live music and even though this was our first time being there we didn't get treated like outsiders. Plenty busy but no one tried to rush us to get us to clear out so someone else could be seated. Floor plan was well laid out and everything was clean including the restrooms.
