Came back 1 year later for the Vernon Burnin bike ride. Had the ribeye again, they missed it a little on the dry side. Chips are a must have with Ranch. Green beans good but not quite as good as last year. Service was great and friendly. Even the manager came around a few times. Who would think there would be a cool place like this in Vernon. We will be back next year for sure. read more

Three Hearts - Sirloin Steak for lunch! - Steakhouses Near Me - Vernon, Texas

Although there are not many restaurants to select from in this town, this is the BEST place to dine in Vernon. Menu is limited. Unsure of what to try, I took upon the recommendation of the friendly server and was recommended either the 1/2 lb burger or Ribeye Philly Cheesesteak. I tried the Ribeye Philly Cheesesteak and my date had the 1/2 lb burger. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and not greasy at all. We also had the freshly cut french fries, which were awesome; not too salty. Highly recommend this restaurant and will be dining here again soon! read more

Great place to eat home cooked food. My GF and I Ate here for dinner. The service was great and so was the draft beer. I'd definitely come here again if I'm ever in Vernon read more

Three Hearts - Chicken fried steak - Steakhouses Near Me - Vernon, Texas

Run, don't walk to this gem in downtown Vernon. The fried pickles are incredible! A little thicker than normal, with a spicy batter that adds the perfect extra kick served with homemade ranch dressing. I was in love with the Pickles, but had no idea how delicious the Chicken Fried steak would be. WOW! Delicious batter, and the most tender steak ever. I've eaten many CFS in my life, and this would definitely be in the top 3. The waitress was sweet as she could be and I never once needed for anything. Seriously, if you're looking for good home cooking, jump off the highway and drive the small piece into town and enjoy this wonderful establishment. read more

I agree with the previous reviewers that Three Hearts is the best restaurant in Vernon. My favorite is the burger. I get it with pepper jack, bacon, mushrooms and jalapenos and have them cook it rare. It is amazing. It is nice and juicy and the patty takes up the whole bun so there are no "wasted" bites. I sometimes get a burger and start eating and wonder why there's so much bun, but then I realize there's a huge amount of patty hanging off the other side!!! The bun is delicious too, and I'm not a big fan of buns. It's kind of sweet and soft, like Hawaiian bread buns. The burgers come with homemade potato chips which are very crispy. I suggest passing on upgrading to their handcut fries, which come out soggy, even if you ask for them extra crispy. For appetizers, I love the fried mushrooms. They come out fresh and piping hot and it's a generous portion of them too. I've probably ordered their ribeye 3 times. The first time it was very good, the other two times quite fatty and chewy, like a previous review said. The country fried chicken is good. Service is way better than the other steakhouse in town. It doesn't take long to be greeted and seated and unless there's a full house, food comes out fairly quickly. read more

It has been somewhat of a hit or miss for me. Been there 3 times so far and the first time was amazing. The steak was cooked perfect, it was juicy and it came out in a timely manner. The second time the steak appeared to have been cooked right but it didn't taste right. It had a real chewy texture and it took a while to come out. I can't remember the third time because it was a last minute decision after a day of drinking. Haha. All in all I'll give it a 4 based on the first trip there. read more

This is a great place to stop and eat at. The service was fast and professional. We ordered the chicken fried steak and we were not disappointed. The owner stopped by our table and visited with us to ensure we enjoyed our food and he shared some of the building's history. I'll return again in the future when visiting Vernon. read more

Good food and friendly people here. I had the chicken fried steak and thought it was ok, not outstanding. But the homemade potato chips were wonderful and the salad that comes with your dinner was exceptional too. Definitely worth trying this place. I would return when in this area. read more

It's fine. They have a lot of fried things on the menu. I am watching what I eat and I have gotten the salmon there twice and twice it was overcooked and rubbery. Everyone else usually seems to like what they get there, so I can only speak for myself. read more

Great food. Chicken fried steak was very good. Me wife had the chopped steak with onions and gravy that was outstanding. Staff was very friendly and efficient. Really had a nice time. We loved it. Stopped in on our way through town. We walked in and everyone stared at us bc it's a small town and everyone knew everyone except us. Not a bad stare, just curious. Our food was great. I had the steak salad and it was delicious, chuncks of perfect steak on top of a salad - just like it sounds. It hit the spot. My youngest Had the kids chicken tenders. They were hand breaded and she tore them up. I begged for a bite but was basically growled at, guess that was a no. Out of fear of being bitten I backed off. By oldest had the BLT. Now, my oldest is drive you crazy picky, will dissect food, especially bacon and pull off every bit of fat and anything else unsavory, or the word they use is to say it makes them "unappetized". Whatever. It was devoured without any ado and it was loved. I was shocked and happy. My husband had the burger. Also a winner. We loved it and are stopping again on our way back through town read more

This was a hit for my hometown Vernon, TX! My cousin and I were in town visiting family for the weekend. We were starving after the kids basketball tournaments, so we asked a few of our cousins which of three restaurants we should try. Sadly we don't have many dine-in options in our small town, but we for sure knew we wanted a steak. As an appetizer we ordered the spinach artichoke dip, and amazingly it came with fresh homemade chips. I dropped my phone in the basket and chips scattered all over our table as I as taking my "Yelp check-in" pic lol. Neither of us had any complaints, and we both ordered the exact meal except my cousin got her 12 oz steak medium (I prefer medium-well). We did feel as tho her steak was more medium well, while mine was well. We are them both up still! They have the vegetable of the day option along with a few more side options. I wanted a mixed drink but the only alcohol they sold was beer and wine (my cousin says it tasted cheap and she knows wine)! Overall we were happy about the place and I'm sure we will be back :) read more

We stopped on our way through town on our daughters recommendation. She was right. Great food and Andy gave us great and entertaining service. She's a very nice lady. The fried mushrooms and the fried onion & jalapeño strips were killer as were our salads and the chicken fried steak. Will stop there again on our next trip west. read more

I have never written a review for somewhere that didn't even eat , but this time I have to. Friday night we were in Vernon for our hometowns football playoff game. And if y'all know Texas, you know this a very big deal! Anyway , the hostess noticed our schools tee shirts and told us that she could get us seated but the kitchen was swamped and that we might not get served fast enough to make kick off. I'm embarrassed that I didn't get her name because I want to give her kudos X1000 . That's caring about your job above and beyond what you see anywhere anymore. I promise to eat there next time we are through town and post a review. And we won our game btw, thanks for asking read more

This is an amazing place and, hands down, the very best food in Vernon. The first time I ate here I was trying to be good and stay away from fried so I ordered the meatloaf. It was very good and I enjoyed it tremendously. The second time there I hauled off and went for the chicken fried steak (half order) so not a full commitment. This chicken fry gave me wonderful dreams for several weeks. My only regret was the half order. Since that day I have eaten there two more times. Full size chicken fry with extra gravy both times. I would love to eat here every time I am in town (live 250 miles away) but my only criticism is not being open for lunch on Saturdays. In case I need to summarize: The best chicken fried steak I have ever eaten. read more

We started with the fried mushrooms. It was so good! We ordered chicken fried steak, it was awesome and huge... The waitress was excellent also. read more

Ordered a hamburger and it came out fast! But idk. Fries were cold and so was the burger. Didn't seem fresh at all. Was my burger made fresh to order or was it sitting there waiting on me instead of me waiting on my burger.......? read more

My older brother, my mom and me all ate at Three Hearts last week. We had the steak, salad and mashed potatoes. And, it gave us food poisoning, it started with my brother throwing up, and we were like oh goodness he is so sick, then it was my mom and then me. And then for 3 days we had the worst diarrhea and throwing up known to man. we couldn't keep anything down.. The worst part is, is that we aren't even from TX we were visiting family in Crowell. so we spent our vacation sick as dogs. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS IS A FRIEND OR FAMILY! read more

Great place to eat in Vernon, Tx. Friendly Staff. Good prices. Chicken fried chicken is excellent. Also love there green beans. Steaks have always been cooked as I ordered. Plan on eating there again soon. read more

Just a mile off the main highway, & worth the stop! Knew we'd made a good choice when we arrived at 12:45 & saw the downtown parking spots around the restaurant full of local cars & pickups (always a good sign!). Believe it or not, grilled shrimp skewers were excellent, as were the green beans. The sour dough bun on the burgher was a nice touch. read more

Had a late lunch here. Took advantage of shady parking across the street in front of the courthouse on this very hot Texas day. Nice place--comfortable and homey. I had the BLT and the homemade chips. The BLT was very generous with crispy bacon, and the chips are terrific. Very satisfying. read more

Fantastic! Great burgers and sandwiches along with home-fried chips. A little slow in service at times but if you call ahead or are not pressed for time the food is well worth it. It makes me so angry when businesses are so lazy that they won't keep their hours updated on-line. Just so you know, you might stop here during a time they post they are open, only to find they are closed. They close down in the middle of the day. read more

Excellent place. Owner was super friendly. Husband ordered a sirloin. It was cooked perfectly tender and juicy. I had the fried shrimp....wow! Hand breaded, not pre-breaded food service product. read more

Don't miss this Steakhouse. We thought Vernon's downtown was like something out of a Western movie. The Three Hearts is full of local charm and the owner and staff could not have been nicer. My husband had the sirloin and I had the grilled chicken. Both were delicious! After dinner don't miss checking out the latest flick at the nostalgic movie theatre "The Plaza" just around the corner read more

Don't waste your time stopping here...unless you enjoy sweating while you sit indoors...or brown, wilted salad...or flies landing on your food...I ordered salmon ( burnt and gross) my husband ordered the 8 oz. sirloin (tasted like raw chicken?????) The one star that I have given this place is only because you can get a pitcher of beer for $6. Now I have to hope my family and I survive the rest of our road trip without frequent stops and bouts of explosive diarrhea:( read more

Stopped here because of the previous good reviews and it didn't disappoint. The service was friendly from the moment we walked in the door till we left. Our waitress seemed a little ditzy but was super sweet and kept us laughing. The host was a sweet woman who even gave us a discount and didn't have to. The food was very good and flavorful only negative thing I have to say is the mash potatoes were cold . Next time we are coming back here for sure! read more

Made the drive over from Altus after reading the available reviews and so glad we did. Had the artichoke dip and home-made chips as an appetizer, followed by the chicken fried steak, rib-eye and sirloin steaks as our entrees and we all had the ice-cream and brownie desserts. Everything was top-notch. Large portions, steaks cooked perfectly and service staff were attentive and responsive to all our needs. Went on a Thursday evening which included good live music and even though this was our first time being there we didn't get treated like outsiders. Plenty busy but no one tried to rush us to get us to clear out so someone else could be seated. Floor plan was well laid out and everything was clean including the restrooms. Will definitely visit here again and probably very soon. Thanks for the great experience. read more
