I grabbed our menus, requested someone 4 times (for utensils, drink order, someone to take our food order and coffee refill). Our server did do better when I told him I was writing a review, so I gave him a star for that, then decided to take it away, because... Today we went to Huddle House for the last time. I always try to give them the benefit of the doubt but today was horrendous. None of the tables were available because they hadn't been cleaned after the previous customer ate there, and when they cleaned the table we chose, instead of taking the dishes to the back the waitress just stacked the dirty dishes on one of the other tables that hadn't been cleared. We waited for about 15 minutes and no one ever came to get our drink order so we left and will never be back. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

I've been to Waffle House hundreds of times in many different states. I always got good food with quick service at a low price. There is no Waffle House in Vernon, TX but there is a Huddle House, and since I have never been to Huddle House, I decided to give them a try. We sat down, ordered beverages, got the beverages and placed our order in about five minutes. That was the high point of this visit. We waited 50 minutes for our food to arrive! After 45 minutes had gone by, I said to our party "in 10 minutes we walk out", so the staff just barely made it. During that entire time, we never saw the waitress. We sat there with three empty beverage containers. What was she doing back there, reading a novel? There were only two other occupied tables. When the food arrived, the waitress offered us a refill, and after that, once again we never saw her again. She never came by to ask us how the food was (cold, in case anyone cares) or offer beverage refills, nor even to give us the check! I have never been to a restaurant where you didn't get the check! How am I supposed to pay? I was tempted to just walk out, but I didn't want to risk them calling the cops on me. I got up and went to the counter, waited ANOTHER five minutes, and finally got the check -- $25.02 for three people, and one of the beverages is water! Waffle House would have cost half as much, taken half as much time and taste much better. After this experience, I guarantee you I will never walk into Huddle House again. I'll just save money and time and not bother eating at all until tomorrow, it was that bad. One word to describe the service: PATHETIC read more

Passing through and stopped at Huddle House for breakfast. Good service upon arrive and throughout the meal. However, we needed our tab and been waiting for ten minutes. I was torn between a 3 star and a 4 star... so because the wait staff was so good, I'm rounding up. :-) The food was okay. We had the breakfast special that came with a lot of food - eggs, bacon or sausage, hash browns, waffle, toast and biscuits and gravy. Price was really good so we figured, why not? The waffle was the best, eggs were cooked well, biscuits were nice... Gravy was just okay, hash browns tasted odd, the sausage was a very odd texture (couldn't even eat it). So good, I would rate a 3/5. Service was a 5 star - the restaurant was clean, waitresses were nice and the food came out quick. read more

I have to say I was pretty excited to come here because I've never ever visited a huttle house and I've heard great things. Ok so we walk in and tables are still dirty. Whatever we brush it off sit in a clean one. Waiter just says take a seat wherever and we literally sat down a total of 15 minutes before he came to ask what beverage we wanted. Of course by that time we already knew what we wanted so we placed our order. Our waiter seemed so with the "I don't want to be here attitude". That should of been our red flag to just leave but we said hey let's give it a shot. Well he comes back 10 minutes later saying they are out of chili. GREAT because we all wanted Chili so that messed up our orders. This waiter has another table and did not attend them either. Overall this was a terrible first impression of huttle house. I recommend you stay away from this place in Vernon. Bad service.... update it's been 35 minutes and we still never got our beverages. Don't come here. read more

I'm torn between what star to give them. When they first opened they were horrible and I'm glad I gave them another try. They have made improvements on they food being fresher, cooked the right amount of time, and brought to you in a timely manor. The prices have always been fair and still are with a good variety of choices. The staff they have now seem to be doing well. Worth checking out again if you didn't care for it before. Honestly we only went back because it was my sons birthday and they were the closest thing to IHop Vernon has. I'm glad we gave them another try. read more

Tonight my fiance and I came here to eat... I got the huddle sampler with shrimp instead of jalapeno poppers... Honestly the only reason I got the sampler is because of the fried pickles... They are out of Fried pickles of course. That's honestly the only reason that took them from a 5 star to a 4 star... If you don't have something let your servers know so they won't be scared to let the patron know when they place their order. read more

My mother and her friend recommended me here a while back. As it's a 24 hour food place to go to in Vernon. I'll be honest I didn't expect much. Although my mothers friend did say that it's surprisingly good. I went in and was very impressed. I was able to seat myself & The waitress was a sweetheart and I enjoyed everything that I ate! I finished all that was on my plate and my tummy agreed. I am known for having a sensitive stomach. So knowing that my food settled well was a huge shock! It's located right next to Cefco which is also convenient. I will be happy to return anytime in the future. Thanks! It was a pleasure dining in recently! I feel like this place has really unfair reviews so i want to offer my two cents. I went at midnight and had really good service, eggs (real eggs!) and bacon were also excellent. The assistant manager made fresh coffee for my order. When we were done eating he offered to go drinks. When you go somewhere at midnight you cant expect excellent customer service like that but we were treated really well. Huddle house isnt a five star steak restaurant or anything so as far as 24 hour eateries go i had a really good experience. read more

The food was sub par at best. I had the smothered steak and could have used it as a frisbee it was so tough. They did give me more gravy on the plus side. It took an hour and 20 minutes for us to get in and out of there and NOT because we are slow eaters. Service would have been faster if it were done by turtles. read more

I have given them only two star because we stood in the doorway for 3 minutes while the cashier ignored us. We decided to find our own seat and she called out "Welcome, seat yourself" she never looked up so I know she saw us from the first. We sat for 7 minutes at a dirty table (we didn't realize it when we sat) and finally the same waitress brought silverware. I asked for the table to be cleaned and she walked casually to the back. When she finally returned I asked for coffee. She never brought it or spoke to us again. I flagged down a different waitress after another five minutes and she was very sweet and brought the coffee right away. Took our order and we are now (15 min later) waiting to see if the food is worth the wait... 7 min later and I have to say the food is also two stars. The sweet waitress is helping in the kitchen and trying to keep up with our coffee. Good for her. the other waitress seems to have no desire to keep this place open. My husband has asked for sugar-free syrup. Nope. I've asked for smoked ham. Nope. Dry toast. Nope. I give the butter-laden toast back and don't get any toast, or see the waitress, again. Ticket? Terrible terrible service. Slower than molasses in January. Waitress didn't know we were there until she finally looked up from her phone. Took our drink order, we told her we were ready to order and she said she'd be right back to take our orders. About 10 minutes later she was back. They were out of hamburger patties, so that basically cut our choices by more than half. Two people in our party ordered breakfast - orders were messed up when they got their food a whopping 45 minutes later. Biscuits and gravy were cold, pancake was doughy in the middle. No butter with the pancake. I ordered chicken strips which were not brought out with the first 2 dishes. Wanting to give the waitress the benefit of the doubt that she would soon be bringing them since she made no mention of them...5 minutes later I asked about them and she said the cook had forgotten them and she would tell him to hurry it along. I told her that was quite alright because I didn't want raw chicken. The strips were hot and just done - no pink. Had to ask for drink refills. All in all, we definitely will not be going back. The other older waitress looked mad at the world but she seemed to be taking care of her table a lot better than ours was. I just sat in this mostly empty restaurant for 50 minutes before I got my food. The customer who sat near me who came in a while after me got his food well before. The poor flustered waitress offered to buy my food for me- apparently there is no protocol for when the kitchen screws up. She said she saw my ticket up there. He just making it.
