Three Dollar Cafe is an Atlanta staple!! It offers a large variety of foods that I consider "bar foods", but I don't consider it a bar. Just comfort foods types of food! They do have tons of TV's to watch sports...so I guess I should consider it a sports bar! It gets packed during lunch, but they serve you pretty fast and the service is always great! It is obvious that they are accustomed to having a large lunch crowd. They have the pace and service down to perfection!! I usually get the Chicken Fingers, which is plenty to share or have leftovers! The French fries are thick cut and so yummy! I have also had the cheese burger and I get mine cooked well-done. Some of the best wings you'll ever eat. Staff is friendly usually. They did well with the large group we had of over 25 people. The hot sauce is delicious and besides the wings I haven't really tried much else here. The fries are good and I definitely want to try them with cheese. The ranch is also really great. Three Dollar is my go to place. Cold beer and great bar food. Management is on it. Recently I decided to venture out from the wings and cheesesteak sandwich to the Cuban Sandwich. Now I'm Cuban so I tend to stay away because unless your in Miami or at the former Cuban Sandwich place in Atlanta Ks Corner on 12th - nothing quite came close. But the team here at three dollar has found a way to blend carnitas with the Cuban tradition Cuban Sandwich and has done it successfully. It taste great and the portion would satisfy any Miami Cuban. Tonight I tried to place a Togo order they hung up on me 4 times and once half way through my order. The server kept telling me to speak up so i did and he hung up on me for the 5th time. I live less than 5 minutes away so I drove up there. The server told me i was screaming so he hung up on me half way through my order even though he told me to speak up more than 3 times. The manager tried to talk to me. The server kept butting in saying I put you on hold even though he straight hug up on me because the line went dead. That's not hold. Meanwhile the server is still trying to pick a fight with me behind the manager by waving the phone in my face and doing childish stuff. The manager did nothing to fix this problem. Did nothing about the servers terrible attitude and trying to pick a fight with me. It's completely unacceptable since I go there at least once a week and have been for years. I will never go back. A group of us came here for drinks after getting dinner elsewhere. I obviously can't give you any insight into the food except to say that they serve Cream of Jalepeno soup (what?), but I can say that the service was good and they kept the drinks coming. I also liked the atmosphere here. It was very relaxed and dive-y, the kind of place that you can sit around at for a while without feeling like you're being forced out. It's located right down the street from where my sister-in-law lives, so I suspect when we visit them in the future we might make another visit. They love it here! read more

I must have driven past this particular Three Dollar Cafe at least 50 times before we ever decided to go in for dinner, but I can tell you I won't be making that mistake again! What delicious wings! And an awesome beer list! This is definitely going to be our new "go-to" sports bar on Roswell Rd. Service was casual but friendly. I noticed that the waitresses were addressing folks at several tables near us by name. I consider a healthy crowd of regulars to always be an indicator of good food - and it was! Menu-wise, there are a handful of "lighter" options on the menu but I wouldn't say there's "something for everyone" here. That said, we thought everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and were already talking about coming back before we had even paid the check! We tried the following: - Spinach and Jalapeno Dip ($7.25) - tasty but not very spicy. It tasted like good ole spinach dip to me! (TRUST ME, this is not a complaint. I'm a spinach dip connoisseur!) - Nacho Mountain ($10.75 or a half order for $6.50) - first of all DUH I had to order this! Nacho Mountain?! Challenge accepted! (We did the half order and didn't finish it so will be back for round two....). This was exactly what it sounds like: a big pile of crispy tortilla chips topped with nacho cheese sauce, chili and all the toppings, and served with sides of guac, salsa, and sour cream. YUM. - Chipotle BBQ wings - TDC claims their wings are famous in ATL. To be fair, I'd never heard of them before and I eat a lot of wings. Regardless I'm glad I found out about them because they are really good! Crispy but still saucy and really moist, these are the kind of wings you just can't stop eating. TDC seems to know they're a hot ticket item because you can order them in increments of up to 50 at a time. Wowza. - TDC Chicken Wrap ($8.75) - hot sauce-coated fried chicken with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and ranch dressing in a wrap. Killer. Would totally order this again! I normally come here to get a late night dinner because I work late shifts in a lab.... my normal server is the 6 foot male and he is always on point ...... but tonight I had the slim blond haired young lady and the service was so so..... never got a menu and it took a nice while for her to get my order.... which is cool! I'm new to the area so any restaurant that's called Three Dollar Cafe has to be visited on my budget. That was not the case since the only $3 item was the beverages but that's my fault (I mean really). The decor is kind of old and is very small inside. I usually order takeout so it doesn't really bother me since the food is prepared quickly. The waiters have their days. One day they are nice, quick, and helpful. On others, they act like they don't see you waiting. You never know what to expect. Now on to the food. I've only had the chicken tenders and the Chicken Alfredo. The chicken tenders and fries are always tasty. The fries could use a bit more seasoning other than a dash of salt but I've realized they lack in flavor across all the food. The pasta is basically noodles topped with bland chicken, pretty good seasoned broccoli (maybe 3-4 pieces tho), a tablespoon of alfredo sauce and ALL the oil in the kitchen. It's so greasy that there's enough oil left in my bowl to moisturize a person. Overall, I would go back for a quick snack of something simple like the chicken tenders but for a more delicate meal and consistent service, I'd rather choose one of the many other restaurants Atlanta has to offer. read more

Had dinner here tonight based on the raving reviews from Yelp....Torn between the wings and the Philly (not feeling a burger tonight-surprise!), I chose the Philly. The spouse chose the wings (1/2 lemon pepper, 1/2 mild-fried hard). Typical bar fare. I have to say that the steak fries were the highlight of my meal. I really, sincerely wanted to love the Philly steak, but it seemed as the chef was a little heavy-handed with the salt. After an extra long day in the office, I was in no mood to send the sandwich back and wait for another entree to come out. Tried one of baby's wings, and the blasted thing was basically barren of mild sauce. To Three Dollar Cafe's credit- the Coca-Cola was perfectly calibrated. Another issue I had was with the raggedy parking lot. We had to park in an adjunct lot on the rear/side of the restaurant. Several seedy looking individuals were milling about, eating Little Caesar's Pizza. Wouldn't have felt so safe had we left after sundown. Didn't like what I could see but was hungry enough to try them. They tasted BURNT! This is a very locals place, and fits its name except for the fact nothing on the menu is $3...? It's refreshing to see a "hole in the wall" restaurant in this city. So many things are overly commercialized it all feels fake. Now 2 things to note about "three dollar cafe." 1. It's not $3. 2. It's a bit of a chain. Keeping the 2nd thing in mind I'm a bit disappointed I guess, but only because it loses some of the "family business" image for me. That doesn't stir me though. The menu has something for everyone, and though the prices aren't $3, they are reasonable. You're not paying $55 a head or anything. I had the chicken strips and fries. Something very straight forward. It came out, the chicken strips were the juciest I've ever had, tender, moist, but not "fat" or unpleasent. I very much enjoyed them. My glass of sweet tea was HUGE, but still needed 1 refill. Service was excellent. This particular location has a home grown feel, which I admire very much. It has a gravel parking lot and a "porch" area that's been enclosed. It's worth stopping in! It's good for business lunches too. read more
