I opted to sit at the bar and was given the flight options. I ordered a flight and a charcuterie board. The board was listed for 3-4 people but I would suggest 1-2 especially if your hungry. The indoor seating is quaint and in a small building. They also have a huge outdoor space and patio both with seating. We were joined about another guest and had great conversation. I also learned about some of the special events they have. Looking forward to returning when I am back in the area.

I wish the wine had been as good, but all three options were pretty mid range and none stood out at all. The Chambourcin and Cabernet Franc were fine, but the Petit Verdot was almost sour tasting. We went for a self guided flight of the reds- the Bordeaux blend, Carmenere, Cab Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Norton. The Bordeaux, Cab Sauv were very good, and the Norton was almost like a port, which I really enjoy. The Petit Verdot was the weakest of the batch by far and one I would never touch again. On the other end was the Carmenere which was an excellent wine I would absolutely come back for. Its quite a pleasant winery with some very good wines to try.

I love being able to experience Virginia wines while living in a different state and I love having my membership benefits when I do visit the area. The staff at Sunset Hills vineyard has always been welcoming, knowledgeable and hospitable. In addition, they are great with managing my shipments and account from afar and they make it easy to customize a shipment if you prefer different wines than they are offering. Their food service is great for pairing, I absolutely love their ciabatta bread and warm cheese spread with honey. My favorite thing to do is stop in, taste what is new and share a bottle and some snacks with friends while enjoying the views. Whether I am enjoying live music inside in the winter months or sitting on the deck or outdoor covered area in the summer months, Sunstet Hills Vinyard is my happy place to unwind.

It was a Monday, so she decided to bring us to one of the few wineries that were open for wine tasting. Formerly a cattle ranch, this three generation 300-acre estate is a family-owned winery. I discovered that Virgina was the first state to start producing wine since 1607. The estate is beautiful with a large wine tasting area and massive patio to enjoy with their fine wines and offer a diversified menu to dine on. Our sommelier was friendly and detailed with our tasting. I ended up purchasing a few bottles to enjoy and one gift bottle for our host. I would put Stone Tower Winery on your list of wineries to visit when you are in Leesburg VA.
