During today's busy noon hour, every employee I saw was maskless. As were three-fourths of the customers. The reputation of MatSu Valley's population is well-earned. Three Bears is fun. It's a chain up here and it has an adorable logo. I even have an unreasonable Californian fear of bears (I know right? I vacationed in the right spot for that.) and I like that logo. While there could be some improvement in upkeep around the place, it's a decent stop reminiscent of Costco. There's a Three Bears right down the street from the place where I'm staying on my whirlwind AK adventure, and we've stopped a few times for essentials, taco fixins, and of course, to visit the beer cage. Well I suppose it's the liquor cage, more accurately, as it has beer, wine, cider, liquers, and spirits. You have to buy them separate inside here and cannot take them out. Definitely different than back home. We don't have growler bars back home though. That was pretty exciting. If only I had more room in my suitcase! Moreover, there was a huge selection of local beer. There were so many kinds of Alaskan I didn't know what to do with myself. The jalapeño?! We don't have that! There was also a good selection of Midnight Sun beers. I told myself to be good and pick out one to share, so I went with Midnight Sun Monk's Mistress. Turned out to be a delicious dark Belgian that knocked us on our butts pretty fast at 11.5%. Niiiiiiice. I will definitely be visiting that beer cage again before I fly out. read more

I love this place. It's now one of my go-to shopping destinations. It's like Costco, but a lot closer for anyone living in the Mat-Su Valley. Much of their stock comes directly from Costco, in fact. They even have a few items that clearly were once stocked at Costco but are no longer available. They're a little more expensive than Costco, but you don't have to have a membership to shop here so it evens out. Another great thing is they stock a LOT of Alaska-grown products. You can buy milk produced from cows right here in the Mat-Su Valley. Same goes for eggs. They stock eggs produced locally right here in town. I think that's awesome because I'd much prefer to support local farmers than some corporate factory farm produced garbage that not only is of lesser quality, but comes from animals living in deplorable conditions. Produce section could be a little bigger, as could the deli area. In addition to all the Costco stuff, you find lots of unique items specific to the simple fact of being an Alaska-based store. People working here are very helpful and nice as well. I see myself shopping here lots in the future. read more

Lions, and Tigers, and Bears, o my! OK, well you won't find them here, but just about everything else! Went here 3 times while visiting in town. You will be able to stock up on everything you need for the RV, hike, pets, long drives. Pretty good selection of alcohol, picked up some great bags of dried fruit and nuts for all the camping and hiking trips I went on. It's pretty much a small Costco, which is 45 miles away, so this will do. All the prices seemed to be about 15-30% more than Costco, so if you pass one, I would suggest a visit to stock up there, but this, in a pinch, definitely fit the bill. read more

This is a watered down Costco. The food is stale and marked up from Costco. The service is bad. Its good to buy bulk items if Costco is too far away, so very limited usefulness. read more

Yesterday, I bought a box of Mandarin Orange cups from here. After driving close to 200 miles to my home when I got there, I started putting my groceries away. The lighting wasn't the best, so at first when I opened up the box, nothing seemed wrong, but then halfway through the box I picked out one package where one of the packages had obviously opened and started molding. Being that it was after store hours, I had to wait until this morning to call. I figured they were going to make me come in or send them the box, but when I called and spoke to the manager and explained my situation, him and another employee helped me get a full refund over the phone. I am very happy with their customer service, and will be shopping here again the next time I go into town. [Although I might stay away from the Mandarin Oranges, ha-ha] read more

I need to say my thanks to the great staff at three bears pharmacy (4 corners). The staff went out of their way to find the most affordable way for me to purchase medication that would've typically been $300+ I was so pleased when they finally helped bring my cost to $65! I've never had pharmacy techs do this for me anywhere else. Great customer service! read more

Every time I go there, the customer service is atrocious. We went again today to grab some benadry, dip, and grab some change for a 20 and the woman behind the tobacco counter acted like we were asking her to give me the keys to car. She literally rolled her eyes, sighed loudly, and pretty much told us no. Then the second one who stepped in just sticks her hand out to take the money. This is just one of our many poor interactions with the staff. read more

A mini-Costco (literally- same products, marked up 30% or so, no membership fee) with items in single and in bulk, some stuff is cheap, but for the most part everything is way more expensive here than at Fred Meyer. The highlight here is the meat department. Other than ground beef (avoid! They re-grind it and it spoils quickly) they have good quality beef and a butcher during the daytime who will custom cut steaks. They also have the Costco rotisserie chickens, which are by far the best deal on delicious chicken anywhere. They claim to have a deli, but I've never seen it. Just a cooler with premade expensive salads/party platters, and pizza and cheeseburgers under a heat lamp. No thanks. The produce is generally not fresh, and often quite wrinkled looking, despite a produce guy constantly on duty trying to make it look good. Tough to get halfway decent produce here in Alaska, but somehow Fred Meyer manages to do it, so... The employees are available and helpful for the most part, with super friendly cashiers, but they do seem to have a high turnover for some reason. One woman in the beer section (Katie) was somewhat unpleasant and literally stuck her nose in my growler she had just filled and commented on the aroma of the beer. I reported that, but she still works there so I get my growlers filled elsewhere now! Overall an okay place with everything from shotguns to tampons and anything in between! The three bear stores out kgb road and in peters creek are much cleaner and brighter, this one is on the dark and dingy side, and seems very crowded with too many free standing displays. Hard to navigate if it's busy! read more

I love this store! One of the things that is great about it right now, is how they don't badger their customers over face masks. If you like to shop freely, without being harassed by fearful, virtue signaling, corporate cucks, then Three Bears is the place for you. If you want to wear a mask, great; and if you don't want to wear one, who cares. I appreciate a store that values their customer's freedom of choice. I also appreciate a store that isn't into violating HIPPA laws by pretending to be some kind of medical mask police force. It's way better than some of the other corporate box stores, especially the ones in Anchorage; with their virtue signaling on others through their oppressing policies and mandates. Good job Three Bears. I have done my weekly shopping and used their pharmacy nearly every week since the start of the pandemic. Guess what? Covid hasn't gotten me yet. And neither has it gotten anyone else I know. Plus the store has the same employees, alive and well working there since the start. I can't wait until other stores begin following suit and stop with all this "pandemic" nonsense. Believe me, if this Covid was the plague of the 21st century the last thing I would be doing is walking around in public; let alone without a "real" N95 grade or higher mask. Keep up the good work three Bears! And when these other crazy fascist corporations start requiring proof of having the eugenic experimental vaccines to be in public; I am counting on Three Bears to continue supporting their customers by promoting freedom and saying, "come shop with or without proof of your experimental guinea pig shot!" Remember folks, this is life and no one will make it out alive. So while I am alive I will continue to shop and support my local Three Bears, for as long as they value employee and customer freedom. I love these stores! The prices are great. Meats are a good quality and priced better than anywhere else I have been in Alaska. You get great customer service right at the check stand and through out the stores. Number one thing I like is there are NO self check out stands. Employees are every where and will I g to help you without making you feel like you are forcing them to be at work. Three Bears is my number one store! read more

Be aware that if you use a debit or credit card and the transaction appears to not go through the first time at the register do not let the cashier tell you to swipe your card again. Your account will be double charged. The Three Bears comptroller (Courtney) will give you the run around with getting a reimbursement. 30 days out and they/she can't/won't resolve the $23 and some change issue. They/she says "it's a process". Very poor customer service. Kept interrupting me and insinuated that this is my problem. Not 3 Bear's. Well 3 bears..... I'm letting everyone know out of principle not the $23 you've bilked me out of. This will also be reported to the BBB. read more

It may not be the Most Spacious,well lit, or most convenient store, but it has whatever you need, and, at the best pricing, within our area. Sam's Club, and CosCo are 40+ miles away. The 3 Bears' staff are knowledgeable, helpful, and will go way out of their way to make your visit a good one. read more
