everytime i go there employees are always in the way, then they act like your the one that's in the way. what happened customer is always right? also everytime I have went to use the family restroom to change my daughter there's always an employee going #2 in there. theres literally regular bathrooms right by it... it's the little things management should be telling them these things. read more

I ordered a home delivery at 3pm to be delivered at 8.30pm. The shopper was shopping around 7.30pm because they notified me of a substitution to my grocery list. Then at 8.45pm I get notified that my delivery will be another 2 hours. So it will be arrive at almost 11pm. When I called customer service they said they would handle it and that they would put me on hold. When someone eventually answered they had no clue what I was talking about so I went over it again, only to be told that they can not help me and that delivery is by an outside company. So I asked for the number and with a lot of huffing and puffing down the end of the line from the associate they admitted they didn't know the companies name but I was given a number that doesn't work. So now I am back to square one. I won't be using them again. read more

I have spent over five hours on hold or listening to a ringing phone line trying to contact customer service. My credit card was charged twice for the same transaction. I went to customer service and provided them a copy of my receipt and a copy of the double charge on my account. I was informed there was no employee in the store that could assist me until noon. I work night shift. I gave them a copy of my information and was informed that the #1 would call me at 1730. I did not know receive a call back and now I can't even reach a customer service representative by phone. If you're planning on shopping at Walmart in Wasilla Alaska- pay with cash and double check your receipt to ensure your not doubled charged. It's a struggle to get your finances/ charges figured out/ reimbursement after the charges have hit your account despite the double charges being the same amount. Seriously. read more

This review is for the optical shop inside walmart. There are normally 2-3 people working but it does get busy. I think it's great and professional that even though they might be busy with someone they will acknowledge you and ask if you have an eye appt as the doctors office is further back and the check in desk is back there. I was helped by Aurora. She assisted me with glasses that required numerous adjustments. She was very through and helpful. She also tried to give me the very best price she could get. Once my glasses arrived she called me to let me know. Great service!!! read more

I had a party to plan and one of the local stores was unable to fulfill my cake order in time because their cake decorator left early. I had three hours and needed a cake for a graduation party FAST! This is about the eye center at Walmart in Wasilla.. I went, and disagreed with the doctor about my prescription.. He suggested, that since VA was paying for the glasses, that I shud take them anyway.. When I refused, he complained to VA, that I wuz "disagreeable".. Compared to my local Walmart. Sorry to say but Wasilla Walmart seemed dirty. I only stayed in the front end of the store. The customer service area was a disaster. I remember shopping there in 2014 and 2015 and it being ALOT nicer. But I left some time in 2016. I came back for a quick visit and it being 2019 it seems like it sort of went down hill. In a Sence. The pharmacy sent a text informing me I had medications waiting and that It would be $141.00+ . I have never paid more than $5.00, and actually below $3.00, on my generic medications. It seems that almost every time that I interact with the Walmart pharmacy, with the exceptions of The pharmacist, Steve, and Alicia, pharmacist Tech, there is always some kind of mess-up, which Steve and Alicia have to handle. And their assistance is much appreciated, and always results in a successful conclusion. When making the trek up to Denali from Anchorage, this Wal-Mart is the perfect pit stop to pick up the water, snacks, and anything else you might have forgotten to pack or did not want to bring onto the plane with you. Denali is still at least another 170 miles away, but you take what you can get... There isn't much else in between. There are a few other Wal-Marts in the Anchorage area [2 in Anchorage, 1 in Eagle River], but this one is THE Supercenter. How can the others compare? Open 24 hours with a Garden Center, Photo Center [AND Portrait Studio], Pharmacy [not 24 hours, but open until 9pm on some nights], it is similar to the others, but it has GROCERIES. So what will you tell your friends back home? You went all the way up to Alaska and went to regular Wal-Mart when you could have gone to the Supercenter? You might as well hang your head in shame and take another trip up to Alaska. Maybe pick up a CD or two as music on radio stations is limited on your way up to Denali. But you also get to hear the random messages people leave for each other through the radio station message board... read more

As a former employee of this store I can say it is one of the more well kept stores in Anchorage and the Valley. The staff isn't always the most knowledgeable but most of them will go out of their way (unlike the Anchorage store locations) to find what you are looking for. The prices are great. I hear all the time 'undercutting' this and what not. But that is part of business. If you can not play with the big boys stay out of the locker room. For the most part the employees are treated fairly with the open door policy in the company and the wages are not bad, usually well above minimum wage even for new associates. My only grievance with this location is that they are cutting back on associates, making the checkout lines a nightmare during certain peak hours of the day. But hey, we're at Wal-Mart, they sell everything I'll just buy 30 more minutes on my life at the counter. read more

Get'er done. Clean. Stocked. Wide Open spaces - ok it was some ungodly hour like 8am - I think it was safe to say we were the only 2 customers in the store. So, we whipped to the back, to electronics, were promptly asked what we needed, got directed to the Hard Drives, they were marked down (o, i think they say "roll-back" here) $20 off - yaii, I'll take it. Scouted over to grab milk, cream, few veggies, and o ya, since I'm a tourist, had to go ck-out the goods. They had like 4 isles full of T-shirts, postcards, and huge array of Alaska goodies. 1 stop shopping? Check. This is defiantly the place to pick up your souvenirs !! read more

I've had it with Wasilla, Ak Walmart and any other Walmart that says you have to show your receipt when you leave. They do this sporadically. Also, when they ask for your receipt other people are walking by and not getting checked. I now take my business elsewhere. read more

I'm from Vermont so I'm used to Walmart's there having a terrible selection, especially the Rutland one. I live in Healy, so I've been to the one in Fairbanks a few times; it's much shorter driving time but I'm done going there after going to this Walmart in Wasilla. It's well worth the extra drive time. Fantastic selection, I was very happy; the line at check out wasn't too bad either. Recommend going here over the Fairbanks Walmart for sure. read more

I know some people have a real thing against wal mart; not me. I mostly like them and do shop them. Not too crazy about the wasilla wal mart though. I've been going there (when I have to) for 2 years now, and I've never once seen enough cashiers working to avoid a very long line. Not once. That can't be an accident; it must be their policy. Contrast that with the Fred Meyer store just a mile from there, also on the Parks Hwy. At that store they station one employee full time to watch all cashier lines, and they carry a phone to call for more cashiers every time there are like 3 people in most lines. That's professional. I like a lot of the rest of this wal mart store, but its just a hard place to go to when I know for a fact that I'm going to spend forever waiting in line when its time to go. Added: I was surprised at a bona fide bait and switch just played on my young son and I. He didn't get a Wii game he wanted: Kirby's yarn adventure. So he and I found it online at walmart, whose web site is very nicely tied into the inventory here in my local store, so their web site not only told me this yarn game was 10 dollars, but it was in stock in my local Wasilla store now. Going there, the walmart people showed me that they want 50 dollars, not 10 for the yarn game. On showing them a printout from their web site, they said that the 10 dollars was only for online orders (NOT IN STORE) and then they guy laughed and said "Oh yeah, but walmart doesn't ship to Alaska". So there's the offer, its online (go look now) and it does not exist. :-( read more

This store is on par with other Walmart's in this state. For people not familar with this area, there is a sales tax.

The events started before I even made it to the store. I called the store three times before I even left my house to see if they had what I needed for an emergency. They refused to answer the phone. So I had no choice but to drive an hour to the store. I noticed that the online store hours are until 2 am, so I left just after midnight on the 28th of June. By the time I got there and parked it was 1:11 am on the 29th of June. I start to walk to the only door that's open at night and have some Walmart employee yell at me that the store is closed. That they changed it to 1 am. I tell her I need a heat light because mine started to smoke and almost caught fire, that I have baby ducks at home that need a heat light. She said I can't let you in. I said then I want a manager. The manager and a mob of employees show up like I am some threat! The manager comes to talk with me and says they are closed, I repeat myself in saying my needs and that the the store hours are posted at 2am. The manager then says "we have signs posted at the doors." I said were are they, gesturing towards the door that has NO sign. The manager then says "oh it's on the other side." I repeat myself once again saying all I want is a heat light, that I have baby duck that could DIE because they don't have heat. The manager could care less. He told me to go to Carrs/Safeway that "they might have what [I] need". Like I was some junky with my kids in tow. The manager has no humanity, if he had offered to get the light. Brought it to a register then escorted us to buy it it would have made your employees and who you hire shine brighter then a star. But their unwillingness to even show even a bit of compass when they are in the wrong, not having hours posted. They didn't even tell me earlier in the day when I was just there and spent over $300. There was no sign. They did not announce it. I called three times and got no answer before I left. Now I have the fear of my baby ducks dying because of the fault of Walmart. I am not in the wrong. I did everything I was suppose to and have proof, phone records and screen shots of the local stores times. I even have the receipt from my earlier purchases. I was on the phone with my husband when the manager showed up so I don't have any photos of the door with no signs. I should have done like all the other people do and videoed the whole encounter, but I needed out of there quick so I could tend to my ducklings. This encounter has shown that a super center isn't a super center. That we will be shopping else were, Fred Meyers or Target. That I will be getting my animal feed from Three Bears, Animal Food Warehouse or from Alaska Mill and Feed. We don't need such a heartless store. All the manager had to do is escort us, I was pleading. But they had no humanity. Oh and the cherry on top was what the woman who yelled at me told me to "have a great night" when she heard the situation. Needless to say I gave her choice words. read more

Eagle River Walmart is MUCH MUCH MUCH better. Nothing is locked up like you're assumed as a thief like in Wasilla. The store is much cleaner, nicer setup and the shelves always stocked. One can definitely tell that Walmart caters more-so to the class of population in the Eagle River area. Worth the drive away from Wasilla, though convenient for those who live north of Wasilla. read more

They need to staff their store properly. Walgreens, Target, Fred Myers and Carrs is where we used to get all our stuff.
