I just did a full face thread. The lady who did my face pissed me off. She had her attitude from the beginning till I paid. The service was bad, when I checked my face after she finished, some part of my face was not fully done. I had to ask her twice to fully thread my face. The atmosphere is very beautiful and modern looking inside. The salon is pretty spacious also. The cost for threading of eyebrows is $8, which is not bad at all. Fortunately, they didn't make my eyebrows overly thin, but the shape they gave me wouldn't have been my first choice. As I was waiting to get my eyebrows threaded, I watched one of the workers finish up with another customer. I had a bad feeling about the worker as soon as I heard her say in a rude, annoyed voice to her customer, "Is it alright???" I sat down on the chair and I told the lady, "this is my first time getting threaded", to convey my nervous feelings. She responded indifferently and asked if I wanted a nice shape. She proceeded to thread my eyebrows. At one point, she stopped and muttered something incoherently. I sat up a little to take a look in the mirror to check if I liked the shape so far since she paused. Immediately, she shot a hand out and forced me back into the chair and said in an annoyed voice to stretch my skin out. After she finished, she said in a complaining voice, "why are you so nervous?" And i told her AGAIN: This is my first time! That's why I'm nervous. I would never return to this place again. She showed no sense of hospitality, seemed not to understand the meaning of customer service, and was insensitive. I'm extremely unsatisfied with this place. This isn't my first time here and they're occasionally rude to customers, but they do a pretty good job with my brows so I usually go back, but not this time. I went with a group of friends, two guys and one girl. While one of us were doing our brows, the others had to use the bathroom so after I was done and paid for my brows, I went to use the bathroom which was inside past a hallway and it was clogged before I even used it so I went outside and told of the ladies on shift and I couldn't understand what she said so I went back to the brows area. And she came out a few minutes and spoke to the other lady and this lady spoke to us rudely, "oh you guys clogged the bathroom, can you guys fix it?" And I was shocked, "wait, you're making a customer fix the bathroom?" And she responded with basically we made it clogged so we need to fix it which was so shocking to me because my dumbass friend really went and tried to fix it and I spoke back to her "so when the toilet clogs, you make the customer fix it and not you guys?" And she said he used it last so he dropped soemthing in there and I said he didn't because what could he dropped in there (later I asked him and he also said he didn't). And she couldn't give me a better reason and said "well he's a man so he can fix it". Wow, that was so sexist to me and I said "so instead of calling a professional, you ask a CUSTOMER who is not a professional to fix it" And she said "yea, the plumber is off so no one can fix it but him". I was so confused and astonished by what she said because it doesn't make any sense to me at all. Then my friend finally got his butt out and said he couldn't fix it and we left. This experience got me so upset and frustrated because of their customer service. First time ever did I hear a customer plumbing the toilet for a worker and I work in a customer service facility. I go to school in the city so it's just very convenient but when I'm not in school during the summer I still only come to this location from Westchester just for my eyebrows, that's how good they are. Thread's Eyebrow salon is an incredible find for New York City. It is beautifully designed , provides the highest quality workmanship, and is incredibly clean. It is better than any other threading salon in New York City. I visit there weekly to get my lip threaded. The cost is only $5. I ask the staff if they think my eyebrows need to be done, and often they tell me that it can wait a week or two. Clearly, Thread is not out to gauge anyone, but rather, to provide the best possible service. The women working there are consummate professional yet they are friendly and nice as well.. I had previously visited the midtown Thread location for eyebrow and lip threading, however I had a groupon (eyebrow + brazilian for $20) that needed to be used at the Thread location downtown, so I took a trip downtown. I had Bindu who was very nice and polite. She was very meticulous with my eyebrows, catching all of the stray hairs (this has not always been my experience at Thread). Eyebrow threading is generally very painful (and the amount of pain experienced definitely varies depending on what time of the month I visit). However, I find it to be nicer than waxing, because it does not irritate my skin. Also, I feel like the shape as a result of threading is much more desirable. In my experience at both the midtown and downtown Thread locations, I think the times that I have been happiest with my eyebrows is when I've spoken up and been very clear about what I was looking for ("I'd like to keep the thickness, just a clean-up please. I prefer a flat, arched brow rather than the rounded brow."). I also had my usual lip threading as well, which is always painful, but Bindu at least made the pain worth it by making sure that every hair was gone when it was over. Bindu was also very comforting when it came to the Brazilian wax. It was my first time, but she was patient and reassured me that I shouldn't feel uncomfortable. The wax did feel a little hot, but as this was my first time, I couldn't comment on whether it was abnormally hot or not. While the experience was by no means pain free, Bindu was careful to use a few methods to try and ease the pain a bit (holding the skin, applying pressure on the skin immediately after pulling the strip). Definitely do some research beforehand on tips to ease the pain (breathing in and out at the proper moments, coughing through the pain, as well as perhaps popping an advil or two an hour before getting waxed), these methods I'm sure helped with the pain. My experience was definitely pleasant enough that I will return again to Bindu. read more

Before I was clearly upset by the lack of professionalism I received during my most recent visit to Thread. Now, I'm pissed that I am being wrongfully accused by slanderous accusations of not willing to pay for services I NEVER received at Thread. Sadia B., before assuming who I am and accusing me of refusing to pay, you should check your records and get your story straight. First of all, I never get my face threaded EVER (due to sensitive skin) -- I always get my face waxed with light threading for clean up. As a matter of fact, your aesthetician told me it's an extra $5 for this service and I politely agreed without ANY refusal to pay. Furthermore, I never have had a Brazilian at your establishment and certainly did not have this service rendered during my visit in question. Thread, you should check your records before you wrongfully accuse customers. Just because you are disgruntled by my poor review, don't make false accusations. I have records of my paid receipt as well as a 15% percent tip given to your bratty aesthetician, because even though you have poor service, I have class. I NEVER refused to pay nor did I ask for any freebies, contrary to your accusations. Clearly, lack of professionalism isn't just with your aestheticians but is a top down issue. This place is nice and good for the price. However, I was quite uncomfortable during my experience. I came in for a full leg wax and brazillian. When I got in the room, the lady just told me to get naked. Now I dont know about the rest of you, but I am not very comfortable sitting around buck naked for 45 mins. She didnt even ask if I wanted to be covered up and when I asked to, she said they didnt have anything. I come here ever 2 weeks to get my eyebrows threaded, and I really recommend the salon! Its clean and simplistic design is a refreshing escape from the City! If there is no wait, I can be in and out in less than 10 minutes, which is great! I prefer to visit the days I know NC is working as I feel she is thorough, persistent (will try her best to get all the short hairs out too!) and is able to shape my eyebrows perfectly for my face!
