I came here for full face threading and was disappointed. The person I had rushed through the threading. She wasn't happy she was doing full face. There was a lot of hair left behind, and the staff member claimed the hair was underneath the skin so she couldn't remove it. I've not had this issue in other threading places; they're able to remove everything. Considering what they charge for full face threading I was unhappy. The staff member apologised to the person after me for the long wait, which I found strange since I had made an appointment. I didn't receive an apology after I waited for her to finish with two other clients. This place caters to people who just need their eyebrows cleaned up. It's not a true threading salon. read more

So Good I came here one time before this and also had a good experience, my brows are naturally thick and have a nice shape so i just asked for a clean up, the women i was with was very gentle and reassuring. At the end she even went back in because she noticed a stray hair, they are also very affordable I've been to places that charged between $20-$30 for the same service, while Thread Bar only charges $13. I used to be a regular at Anjuthreads and was heartbroken when I found out that they closed, so when I found out that Harinder and Sadia opened their own threading salon I was thrilled! I've been getting my brows threaded by them (along with Ami) since I moved to Philly 5 years ago and they never disappoint. I have very thick eyebrows naturally so I typically just ask for a cleanup and the results are pretty much always fantastic...and on the rare occasion that the result isn't fantastic, they are always accommodating in correcting any issues, even days after the fact. I sometimes get minor irritation and redness after threading (I have very sensitive skin), but you can request witch hazel toner that will knock it right out. $13 makes Thread Bar one of the pricier places in the area, but the price is worth it. You also get a loyalty card that gives you $13 off after 8 visits. You can make an appointment if you want to, but they always accept walk-ins. read more

This is my favorite spot to get my eyebrows done! They're super quick, insanely friendly, and educational on eyebrows. Harinder is super sweet and knows what she's doing! My brows looked a little rough and she cleaned them up exactly how I explained! They listen to what you want and will offer their opinions when asked. I've been coming here since February so this review is long overdue. I have tried multiple of the ladies here. The first time I came, I absolutely loved my brows. I believe her name is Rathna and my brows looked great for about month while I was away traveling Asia. I came back a few more times after that and had two other women thread my brows, and I was not happy with how they looked. The issues were the unevenness, uneven shape, and uneven thickness. I know it looks crazy that I'm giving this place 5 stars when the past three times I hated my brows. I decided to give them one last try. I ended up with Sadia. I cannot tell you how great she was. She took her time, she was so thorough, and shaped my brows so nicely. I've had Sadia twice now and I was extremely happy both times. It's nothing m against the girls here because everyone is really nice, welcoming, and professional, I just didn't like how my brows were done the last few times. I'll definitely be back. I never had threading done before, but I will definitely be going back in the future for more! I did a walk-in and got lucky with being able to be seen right away. Ami consulted with me about any preferences I may have and made sure that I was comfortable. When I deferred to her expertise (of 25 years!), she threaded my brows into a beautiful and natural shape. I also decided to have my upper lip threaded, with which she also did a great job. I haven't let anyone touch my eyebrows in 2 years thanks to the nail salons thinning my eyebrows. They still haven't fully recovered, but they do look better now. I came to the thread bar after reading reviews for a few weeks. This was my first time getting my eyebrows threaded and they came out great. Immediately she told me I was thinner towards the end of my brows , which let me know she knew what she was doing. It did hurt some, but it's just the same pain as getting them waxed. read more

My eyebrows needed maintenance ASAP ! I found thread bar on yelp and did a walk in. I never got the name of the girl who did my by eyebrows and lips threading but she was amazing. She was very nice and detailed. She made me feel comfortable and she wasn't pushy like other threading places I've been to. I'm not picky if you miss a hair here and here as long as it's not a lot. However she did notice that there was one hair she miss and she fixed it. I like honest people. This was definitely one of the best experiences I ever had with threading and I'll definitely be back for sure ! The prices are super affordable. What comes to mind I think of threading? Painful, red, blotchy skin & watery eyes. Thankfully not at thread bar! I avoided threading for almost 2 years because I went back to waxing since I prefer a quick process rather than sit through a slow, prolonged process. Threading was always uncomfortable to me and I always felt the roughness of the thread. However, I missed the brow shapes that threading could provide. So I took the plunge and found thread bar. Amaaaazzzinnggg. Having just moved from NYC, I've been terrified to let someone new touch my eyebrows. I'm so glad I came to Thread Bar. I was a little nervous walking in without an appointment but I was the only one there at around 11 on a Tuesday. The woman who did my eyebrows was incredibly nice and professional. She was also very gentle; this was the most painless threading experience I've ever had! She listened to what I wanted and gave me brows that exceeded my expectations! This place is definately my new brow go-to. They take cards but you can't tip on the card, which I learned the hard way. This isn't like 'white people' henna, this is the real deal, and she did a big design on my arm in like 10 min. Looks cool already and can't wait to see it when the ink flakes off. I'm not sure if my experience was an outlier given all of the positive reviews but since I saw a few people mirror my experience recently on here I thought it was worth sharing. In case this is a very occasional experience, I think its worth it for the folks at Thread Bar to know and do better. On the one hand, it was the fastest lip thread I've ever gotten but the hairs were pulled out so rapidly and strongly that my upper lip broke out within a day. If this was the worst that happened I wouldn't be that displeased but the leg wax I received was the worst I have ever gotten. The person who did it seemed to rush through it, a ton of stray hairs were left, the wax strips were applied haphazardly and yanked off carelessly in rapid succession. I expected some pain but this was next level. It is no wonder that I am now left with this rash on my inner leg and it is now sore to the touch. Not only did I have to shave when I got home but I am now having to apply hydrocortisone every day and am considering going to the doctor if the swelling/itching/burning doesn't get better. I should also mention that the lady was so rushed that pieces of wax were left on my legs and the paper from the table was sticking to me as I got up. I don't get leg waxes super often so maybe this is normal but I don't remember ever having a wax experience like this. Super bummed. read more

I called to make an appt with Amy who happened to be on vacation, so I opted for anyone. The girl that did my brow didn't even introduce herself, but shes in the 1st photo uploaded. I've been a regular threading customer here for awhile now and I always love the job they do. I decided to try eyebrow tinting and it's safe to say I'm addicted. I was really nervous about getting it done, I didn't want them to see too overdone or too dark for me, but the girl who did them took my concerns very seriously and only left the dye on for around 7 minutes. My brows look great! The darker color of them makes me not need to fill them in on a daily basis anymore; I wake up and I am good to go. I'm so excited that this little spot opened up in Center City since I've been on the hunt for an affordable threading/waxing place. Sadhia and Harinder are really great. They're polite, friendly, and clearly very skilled at their craft. Their facility is clean, spacious, and posh. It's so easy to schedule an appointment, and Sadhia was super accommodating despite me having to change my appointment time several times. They also allow walk-ins, and there is usually no wait! I CANNOT EMPHASIZE HOW MUCH BETTER THIS PLACE IS THAN ZARA BROW BAR. Their prices across the board are less expensive than Zara's, and there's also a 10% student discount. The girls that work there are friendly and professional. They are very communicative, always making sure you are comfortable with where they are removing hair and that you are not in pain. If you want waxing services, there's a small room to the side that they do waxing in. It's a basic strip wax, so nothing too fancy. I'm not sure how well it would work for sensitive areas like a bikini wax, but for arms and legs it's adequate and efficient, especially since the prices are so low in comparison to other waxing salons. For those who have never had their brows threaded before, do not hesitate. I have pretty nice brows to start with but I am always blown away at how much better they look after getting them threaded here. I think besides their skilled handiwork, they have a trained eye to pick the ideal shape and size of brows for your face. I followed the brow experts here from Anju threads. I was distraught when I heard Anju was closing, but I'm so glad that they stayed in town. I actually prefer this location as it's a little cozier. I thought it was a bit uncool when Zara Brow Bar re-located so close to Anju Threads location, and was sadly not surprised when Anju closed a few months later. However, seems that some of her staff opened up their own shop here, and I may be biased because it's more convenient for me, but I like this location better! Harinder did a fantastic job for underarm waxing; my last round elsewhere left my poor armpits a bit butchered, Harinder took her time and got even the most stubborn of hairs; didn't hurt too much! Now that I've got a customer loyalty card for this location, I'll be back- very reasonable prices, and on weekday afternoons, walking in seems to have a minimal wait. read more

The staff was very professional and paid attention to what I wanted. My brows have not looked this good in years!
