After being a loyal customer for about a year and a half at Aanchal Skincare & Eyebrow Threading, I…read morehave finally had enough. My eyebrows grow really fast, so they require that I go in every week. Every week I went into the salon, I was met with more and more anger and unkindness. It seemed like the more I went, the less the lady liked me. AND, on top of that, the more and more I went, the WORSE my eyebrows came out. She never checked for evenness and when I did point it out once, it wasn't fixed. My upper lip was also never fully threaded. She went very quickly. I always have had nice, thick brows but she made mine thinner and thinner. One time, she made my skin start bleeding because of how fast she was going and how much she was not paying attention. The only good thing about this place was the price. I paid $17 for eyebrow, lip and chin-- but it wasn't worth the bad eyebrows and mediocre threading. I now pay $26 for all three at a place in Ardmore. The time it takes for my hair to grow back now is much longer and my eyebrows have finally begun look normal again. Attached is photos from my experience at Aanchal.

Rabiya is a skilled threading practitioner. She is friendly and personal. She does an excellent job at eyebrow and facial threading. I am always satisfied with my threading service. I've been coming to Valerie for at least 6 years now, and there's no one else I would trust my eyebrows to. Valerie was trained by Anastasia Beverly Hills, which is why I began going to her (I was previously driving over an hour just to get my brows done at an Anastasia salon), and I've continued coming to her for the last few years because of the amazing job she does. She used to be located at a high end local tanning salon, but since Fall 2016 has been operating independently in her own spot in downtown Center City Philadelphia. It is a bit pricer ($30) than just getting your eyebrows done at your local nail salon, but I promise you it is so worth it! Your eyebrows are shaped in proportion to your eyes & nose, all while relaxing on a salon table. Valerie even uses a magnifier to ensure she does a precise job. You can pay via cash or credit. She also does eyebrow tinting ($30), which I plan on trying my next visit! My recommendation is to give her a try, and if you've never had your brows actually 'shaped' before, grow them out for a month or two before coming. You will thank me later!

I had been growing my eyebrows out for 2+ months after I had a terrible wax experience. It is literally the most arduous task, waiting for your eyebrow hair to grow back. I felt like Chewbacca. This is why I researched and researched and read various reviews before deciding to reach out to Valerie. Let me say this, I normally don't write reviews; however, Valerie's talent, accommodation, beautiful craftsmanship, and overall energy absolutely warrant it! I was in Philly for the weekend for a Monday interview and I reached out to Valerie pretty late. Not only did she respond to me quickly, she accommodated me for a day outside of her normal hours. I am so appreciative of the time she took to do my eyebrows and the individual attention I received. Her studio is set up so that it is a truly a individualized and private experience. And a world-class eyebrow experience it was! She crafts your eyebrows specific to your face. It is amazing to be around individuals who are great but also passionate about what they do. It is a contagious and inspiring energy. Needless to say, I got the job. Looking great translates to feeling great. Feeling great leads to a huge confidence booster. Well ladies and gentlemen I have Valerie to thank for giving me confidence to kick but during my interview. Chewbacca who? Amazing eyebrows like what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Literally that's how I felt after I left Valerie's, and that's the energy that got me the job). Thanks Valerie!!

I received an email and text yesterday, confirming my appointment. I get to the shop today and no one is there. A closed sign is on the door, instructing to call or go on the website. This is extremely unprofessional and frustrating as I traveled to this shop and made my appointment in advance, when I could've went to another salon. If the shop is genuinely closed due to COVID or another reason, the option to make appointments online should be removed immediately, existing appointments should be canceled, and customers should be notified. I hope this issue is resolved ASAP, so no other potential customer is left stranded and dissatisfied.

We decided to stop in after receiving a flyer because we needed our brows threaded. I asked her to clean my brows up since I had recently had them threaded elsewhere and liked the shape. She did clean them, but afterwards they were shaped differently than before and I didn't like the new shape. They are a little thinner than I prefer and I am now waiting for them to grow in more. Further, the threading experience was much more painful than usual. My girlfriend had her brows done as well and also described the experience as very painful. After we left the shop I noticed that the skin under her brow was very red. Upon closer inspection, it became clear that her skin had been plucked/broken and it was scabbing over. The services were very expensive and I wish that we had been informed of the price prior to receiving the services. To be fair, we should have asked. The store was also very very hot and we were sweating/uncomfortable the whole time. Sheenam was very nice and again, I would love to be able to recommend her services, but sadly we were not satisfied and will not be returning.
