I own a preschool and have been a customer of Ace Fire for over 5 years. During this time, they…read morehandled the installation of fire equipment, monitoring and annual inspections on our system. I am writing this review because of how they handled my recent service call. I am cancelling my service for monitoring and future service because of this. I called them to repair our faulty fire system. It was saying we had a fire when we did not. I told the person on the phone who took the service call that we had recently put in a light in one of our classrooms and the week afterwards, one of their techs came out to fix an error on the fire panel. They cleared it and seemed to find the problem and fix it. All was good! Then three weeks later, the system said we had a fire again, so a tech was sent again. I told the person on the phone again about the light that had been installed and verified that someone had come three weeks before about the same problem in our back classroom. She verified all of this and said she would pass this information on to the tech. When the tech arrived, he started his search for the problem in the opposite end of the school. He crawled up our attic and checked the panel and checked all of the smoke detectors...and when I arrived for the day, I asked him if he had already checked the back room and that attic. He was not told about them. So the first 3.5 hours were spent working on areas of the school that didn't need it. He was constantly on the phone with another tech. He was having problems figuring out the issue. He was young and seemed inexperienced. They finally sent out the tech on the phone in the late afternoon and at 4:30PM (8 hours in now), they discovered a wire that had been crimped or damaged in the attic near the light that had been installed. Then he handed me the bill. Eight full hours of service for something that was exactly where I told him it would be. At $120/hr. They never should have sent an inexperienced tech who couldn't handle the job on his own. They also should have told him where to start. I called and asked them to change the hours on the job to half of the time since he didn't start where I told them to, but they refused and emailed me a bill for almost $1,000.00! I would be happy to remove this review if they do the right thing and reduce this bill. I have no problem paying for 4 hours even though the problem couldn't be found by the first tech for 7 hours. Whoever is handling their service and billing department should not be. There are plenty of fire monitoring and fire alarm service companies in the Austin area. Don't use this one!

I looked Ace Fire up to recharge a small fire extinguisher kept on my tractor. Extinguisher was…read moreabout a month old, but I had to use it for a small grass fire. I chose them because they were the closest to me. The lady on the phone suggested I just throw it away and go buy a new one. Given its not your typical plastic-valved HW store cheap unit, but one designed for use in rugged or weather, I wanted to recharge it instead of throwing it away. That's just a waste of a good tank and valve assembly. The lady quote me $25 and a 24-48 hour turn around for their on-call tech to do it. I dropped it off, filling out their little paper, and she reaffirmed the price and turn around. I didn't get any type of acceptance paperwork. Over a week later, I still hadn't heard back, so I called, and was told it still wasn't ready due to something about the tech and his license or something I didn't follow. Then I got a call early next morning saying it was ready. When I picked it up at lunch, the bill was $41 and change, and not the original $25 dollar quote. No real reason given for the price increase. Its still cheaper than ordering a new unit, but not by much. Next time I need to recharge any extinguishers I will look at some of the other shops.

This business actually gets a 1.5-star rating from me. I am an office manager for a small company…read morein Austin. I called Austin Titan to set up an annual inspection of our five fire extinguishers. I ended up not having Austin Titan complete the inspection because of the extremely lacking customer service I received from their receptionist / dispatcher. During my first call to their office, the receptionist said she would schedule an inspector to come out "sometime at the end of the week". When I asked for a more specific time/date, she said that she could probably have someone come out on Friday, but could not pinpoint a time at all. Frustrating, but I was willing to go with it. It should be noted that the receptionist was not impolite or mean, just irritatingly vague with scheduling (I realize that this is probably her business' practice and not her fault). The unprofessional service came after. The next day, my schedule changed such that I was not going to be in the office on Friday. I called to reschedule my "probable" appointment, only to reach the voice mail of a Sandra So-and-So. I was unsure that I had dialed the correct number since the business name was not mentioned in the voice message, but after checking the number twice (it was the right number) and calling back twice, I left a message asking to cancel the Friday appointment and to have someone call me back to reschedule. I also sent an e-mail since I was still a little paranoid that I'd left a message about fire extinguishers on some innocent woman's phone. The week passed and I never received a response, neither e-mail nor a phone call. I tried calling the number once more, and again reached Sandra "Austin Titan Who?" So-and-So. I repeated my request that someone call me back to reschedule. After hearing nothing, I decided to go with another company and left ANOTHER message with Sandra canceling my appointment. The cherry on top of the cake is that after the other company came and did our inspection, barely a half an hour passed before an inspector from Austin Titan showed up, ready to inspect the extinguishers (!). I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that I had called the wrong number (...five times), so to clarify, I asked the inspector "Who is your receptionist? Is her name Sandra? I left various messages for her and she never called back". The inspector confirmed that their receptionist's name was Sandra. Interestingly, he didn't seem to care that I had received very poor service from his company. He didn't apologize for the inconvenience or even seem particularly interested that I had gone with another company. He just shrugged when I told him that I had canceled my appointment and used someone else. It's clear that customer satisfaction is right at the top of Austin Titan's list (*sarcasm*)... The only reason this place gets two stars (it should really be 1.5) is that someone DID actually show up. If they had been the only fire-safety company in town, I would eventually have gotten the service I needed. Thankfully, they were NOT my only option. If you want professional, personable, efficient and low-cost fire safety service, see my review on Safequip.
