So impressed by the new Cedar Park library! Absolutely stunning design - the artistic outdoor playground centered around a bird structure, the thinkery-style indoor children's play area, and floor to ceiling glass windows offering stunning views from all floors. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, the library offers excellent programming for kids and adults, a large book selection, reservable meeting rooms, a coffee shop, and more. On Saturday mornings there is a lovely farmers market next to the library as well. Parking can be a challenge at times. This library is a true cornerstone of the community, a third place for my kids and I, and absolutely worth the hype! read more

I love how open and user-friendly this library is. It's the perfect place to meet another bibliophile. Most importantly, it is a place where kids can learn to enjoy books, spend time with family, and play outside to release the wiggles. I hope the library will build a parking garage. As new businesses come along. Parking will be even more of an issue than it is now. A particular concern is handicap parking. Currently, strategy and timing are the disabled parker's best friends. read more

I was a member of the old Cedar Park Library back in my days of living in Buttercup Creek. Since my wife and I love libraries we choose to come see this one and check out the new stuff they offer. Large area, a lot of it still open on the outside, where I assume more buildings or things tied to the library will be built in the future. Parking is kind of all over the place and pretty fair distance from the main building so be prepared to walk some ways. A weird bit is as of now there is no drive thru return, something most libraries have, but there is a walk up one and a series of boxes for holds outside. You can also find holds right inside on a series of hold shelves. The place is very nice, the front desk is round and when we were there had 2 people manning it and a lady helping greet and answer questions near the door. They have a coffee shop and rooms you can reserve for research on when we were there a group was using to watch a movie. Woodworking and more are all options and there is at lease one large play area outside for kids and families. It is a two story building and quite large. SHANA SAYS: It's Cute and has friendly staff as well as being well equipped. I am so glad it is here and that they have different tiers of cards, including a free one with limited access for people outside the Cedar Park city limits. There is a paid one with yearly fee to access everything for non residents and we made get that later. So as Shana stated they had options. we took the free card for now which allows you to check out 10 books a person and no late fees. No access to the stuff like wood working or various other extra's but we can buy a card later. We looked around, checked out a few books and we will be back. I miss the old library so much :-/ it was so cozy and easily accessible. this new one is a pain for parking, really far to get inside. it's nice that they have makers classes and such but everything seems so far away it feels less like a library first and more like a community center first, library second. Which is ok if that's what the neighborhood wanted but sad for me bc i just want a library. We are also lacking local bookstores in cedar park and now the library lost that feel too. Still it's good for your kids and the playgrounds etc read more

Parking is a little bit of a pain right now, but I think they're still working on adding a bigger lot. That being said, this is such a beautiful library with lots of amenities and space to work. The new library is beautiful! Very clean, lots of activities for the kiddos to do and plenty of books for sure. I like the design of the library-very modern look with lots of natural lighting. During the weekends it can get very crowded and parking can be hard to find, but it is worth the trip. There's a large playground area outside in addition to a smaller playground area inside-good for those days when it's super hot. Look forward to coming back! read more

This place is gorgeous. I dropped in on a random weekday, Tuesday I think? I was in the area for work and decided I could use the quiet time for a bit after I had clocked out. This library did not disappoint. It's clean, it's bright, it's spacious, and well organized. Also the staff is helpful if you need it without being pushy. I took some time to take a seat on the second floor, check out the view and read a few pages of a book. If you decide to peruse this place take a few minutes to check out the artwork on the first floor. It looked like there was a coffee cart available, but I had arrived too late in the day to try it out. This is pretty far from where I live and typically go to work, but if I happen to be in Cedar Park again I'll definitely try to stop by. read more

Full disclosure I came here for the indoor and outdoor play spaces, but I did take a quick tour of the library itself. As you walk into the main entrance there's bench seating with long tables which can be used for reading (obvs) but also for group meetups. Theres also a second floor life space with small tables and seating overlooking the main lobby. The east wing has makerspace rooms and on Saturdays there's a coffee cart there to catch people coming from the farmers market. Now if you've got kids, you're likely here for the playgrounds. Right up front there's huge bird shaped treehouse. Where you can climb inside, peek through openings, and zip down slides. Too hot to be outside? Head inside into the children's wing, you can't miss it. There's a 2 story playhouse with slides, infant soft playpen, light brite wall, and more! But wait, is it too crowded in both places? Then head on back to the shaded backyard space with a water table and a small bird themed play scape. There are also long benches and chair spread throughout for families to rest. To sum it all up, the new library is a great place to bring your kids. The ones that read or don't... lol. However it's also a useful theirs space for adults. Open 7 days a week unlike APL which closes on Sundays. read more

The new library lives up to the hype! It's a beautiful building and while the area around it is still under construction, you can already tell it's going to be the cool place to be when it's done. The kids area is perfection, rivals the Thinkery for its STEM explorations and play areas. My older kid went nuts for the large comfy "circle seats" set into the walls of windows. There are also areas with computers and laptops, and a big private room as well. The big play area is tucked at the back of the kids section; you can spot it but most of the distractions are obscured from the book section, which is great if you want your kids to focus on books first and play afterwards. There's also a decent nursing room with a comfy chair and footstool and frosted window for privacy. There's a door off the back of the kids section that leads outdoors to a water play table (kids might get wet!) and small play area where my kids particularly loved the bird structure that "poops" (has a tiny chute from mouth to...you know). Be aware that older kids may find rocks to send down the chute. Big ones won't fit, but the ones that do might bump a little on if they're close to the exit hole. Honestly, I have no idea where these kids found the rocks because they weren't in sight from the area, so probably an uncommon occurrence. If you walk back through the library's bottom floor you'll pass through the lobby with its stunning modern staircase and head down the hall past the Makerspace rooms, which look amazing. There were so many different craft machines. I think I spotted a Cricut, sewing machines, and 3D printer, and so many more I didn't recognize. Looks like you can reserve these for use. My crafting self was drooling. At the other end of the hall is a small Red Horn coffee cart (local place), then uou can head outside to the other, larger bird play structure. This one might get rough for shy ones 3 and under with all its steep hills, rope courses and climbing opportunities. Big kids and more adventurous young ones will love it. The play structures themselves are all so unique and beautiful. Street parking is plentiful but hard to get during rush times. The lots are a bit of a walk right now, but you can see them already building out a paved walkway from the closer one! Well done, Cedar Park! read more

The best library for kids! Our three kids are under 10 and this was an amazing library! The playground with the 23 foot tall mockingbird was amazing, but in the courtyard the were smaller birds for little ones to play on. The children's area is separate and had lots of books, spots to read, toys and a little tree house with slide. Great experience! read more

Excellent layout with many reading rooms, quick nooks, a playground and interactive places for young children and a Makerspace studio with sewing machines, 3D printer, etc. I am so impressed by all the offerings of this brand new location and will visit a lot more frequently now! read more

Such a beautiful library. There's plenty of activities for kids and I appreciate that there's separate spaces for them. They have a few makers rooms and I'm interested in their classes. They also have conference rooms to reserve. The process of getting a library card was super easy. I just wish that their selection on the Libby app was as robust at Austin Public Library's. read more

The library is very easy to find right off of S. Bell Blvd. Parking was difficult on a Saturday afternoon. Lots of different parking lots. The have a playground right in the middle. Not sure if parking was difficult because of the playground or people at the library. I was able to snag a 15 minute spot since I was only going in to make copies. Plenty of handicap parking, but not one was available. Approached the front desk and the gal guided me to the stairs or elevator, stating the printers were right above her workstation. Opted to take the elevator, found the printer. You have to log into a computer that's near the printer area, then you have to put your money in the coin/bill dispenser, then you go over to the printer. My first copy, scanned in black-and-white, even though I had chosen color. I approached, the girl asked her to help, she said I couldn't get my money back. She explained the process and was having a little bit of issues as well with the printer. I had change coming, I pressed the coin release and it said disabled. Went to ask another girl and she says you have to log off of the computer in order to get your change. Walked away a little frustrated. I asked if they had directions for all of these steps, received no answer. I went back to print my receipt and there were just lines on the receipt. She said yup that's a problem we're having. read more

Cedar Park Public Library - Outdoor playscape - Libraries Near Me - Cedar Park, Texas

Earlier today my wife and I finally decided to go to the new library to return some books that we checked out at the old location thinking that the crazyness may have slowed down after the new opening. Well that was not the case, parking is a royal pain and it is obvious that it was designed for the Bell District and not the library users. There is a large open field across the street from the library that is vacant that would be perfect for library parking, but I suspect that it will be used for future Bell District development. When the new library was announced I was very excited about it since it is very close to our house and very walkable when the weather is good. However, with my experiences as to how difficult to park anywhere close to the building my opinion has taken a 180 degree turn. The old library was very easy to get in and out of and also had a drive up return window which made returning books very convenient. The new library does not have this feature and good luck finding a parking space anywhere near the book drop at the front of the building. I wish we had the old one back for those of us that are interested in checking out books and not all the other things that go on at the new library that causes all of the congestion. Looks like we will not be using the new library in the future. read more

So many new spaces to sit and study, a coffee shop, lots of great and helpful employees....but I had to give it only four stars because there aren't any designated quiet areas or even any signage to remind others to be quiet please. Kids run through with parents yelling at them, people having whole phone conversations next to you at full volume, patrons having conversations at full volume with someone a little further down the isle. No one seems to adhere to the quiet nature of a library...I mean as I'm sitting here right now I can hear screaming kids and parents echoing from downstairs and someone sitting next to me negotiating a real estate contract on their phone. Some enclosed areas are available but you have to reserve in advance, so I would advise that if you really need to focus. read more

I made an appointment for a private room with library staff who in turn gave my time slot away to another patron in a most discourteous and unprofessional manner. I did as was instructed and was treated as though my time doesn't matter. After emailing the director about the matter and not receiving any reply whatsoever, good or bad, I cannot recommend this facility to any family or colleagues. It's not so much that it's bad business...it's just not business at all. read more

It is an awesome new building with space for all ages including a playground inside great for when it rains and a new area just for teens to have a space of their own. Friday night at the Library? Yep! This evening was the annual 'Mini-Con' where kids from the area dressed up as their favorite characters. There were some nice vendors and artists on hand- a scavenger hunt and of course some video games. Not my scene - but I brought my children and really enjoyed myself. We did an early voting last Sunday and even though we waited about 30 minutes to vote the poll workers had their act together. Also noticed that there are many reading and activities programs for the kiddos. Never to early to get their heads in a book and off the (damn) computer screens! read more

It's a pretty standard community library. I can't fault it one way or the other. The fact that it exists is great in and of itself! Even though I'm a huge proponent of libraries, I would say the CPPL falls right about in the middle, middle-low range compared to other libraries. It's got free books, movies, music, and teaches you to care for communal things. Whether it's the best or not, I have to respect that. read more

I'm not sure what people are complaining about. It's a small community library and they aren't going to have every book you want because they don't have the space. They rarely have the exact book I'm looking for but they have a great Adult Non-fiction selection that covers every subject under the sun. While I may not find the exact book I'm seeking there is likely one on the subject. My kids love this library. It's rare that they can't find a good book to read and it's never crowded in the Juvenile Fiction area. Overall I have a great experience every time and the staff has always been kind when I've needed their assistance. Highly recommended this place, especially for the kids. read more

After a lifetime of using inter-library loans, this is the first time I have been asked to pay. The price is so much that it is not worth it; I can buy books for that price. Crowded. Limited collection. Sometimes the limitation is by policy. I wanted to see "A Band of Brothers" because I had heard allusions to it, but I was told it contravened the anti-war policy. What? When I was a librarian, it was a matter of duty to be pro-free speech. Kind of adds up to not being very welcoming or useful as a library. Disappointing. At least we have a library. read more
