Before the pandemic, I loved taking Zoe to storytime & baby time at the library. It was a great opportunity for her to engage with her peers, sing songs, play and hear great stories read to us by the librarians. Unfortunately, we've had to put all of that on hold for now, but this library hasn't missed a beat! Though the building isn't open to the public, you can still checkout books online and pick them up curbside. Best of all, they still have storytime for the little ones-- it's now online! The librarians sing fun songs & read wonderful stories; they even have storytime craft kits available for curbside pick up at the beginning of each month (while supplies last).

I can go on about how awesome-sauce this library is BUT I have some new books I just checked out that I need to start reading!!! ;) -Rebecca out

This makes the 4th one we have been to, Spicewood, Central, and Yarborough Branch have been previously visited. We want to see the differences and support the local library. This one had a larger outdoor area then most and even had a table and chairs outside to sit and read, not something we have seen anywhere but the central library. It also has some trails with art along it, as well as some interesting but creepy statues. A nice difference that makes it stand out. Inside they make full use of the space, they have a large kids area in the back and it seems very popular. Lots of Adult book clubs and activities as well as youth and children's events. It had one of the bigger collections of DVD's and Blu Rays for rent we have seen at any branch. It does have less computers for the public with only 6 or 7 but to be fair this is the first branch where they were not all full or close to full. In fact while we were there I think I saw one person using them. So it makes sense they focus on other things to match the area they are in. They have display caps with special displays like the picks of the people who work there, which is a nice touch. SHANA SAYS: I was impressed with the huge DVD and Blu Ray collection and I am not even a movie person, ask my husband as long as you have time to listen to him talk about it for awhile. The art outside was great, the fun artwork along the paths was unique and cool addition to this branch. They had some larger artwork in statues of some kind. I didn't get a great look due to looking at other things. This is extra nice all being outside for some fresh air and sunshine. They also have a large amount of adult and kids workshops and things to do! The bathroom was clean and they have a recycled reads area and a clearly marked hold area. They have board games you can rent and several other smaller touches that all add up. There was a cool display of cards that had a legal statement about how they don't wish to talk to you or give you consent in many many languages which was both awesome to see but sad we have gotten to that point. This location is not far, the closest one besides Spicewood Springs so we will be back to check it out more

In the main library, end caps of the bookshelves occasionally have special displays of books. And on some empty spaces of shelves, you may find surprises like book recommendations or flyers/brochures. The library has many community events, including story time, adult programs, book clubs, and youth programs. There's something for everyone! I was here to pick up a book on hold; it was easy to find that area and locate my book.

So I explained that my license had been upgraded in July and I needed to have a copy of *that* with my photo on it so I could still rent a car. At first I was told they couldn't because DPS had started remaking my ID since earlier that morning (I requested that DPS resend my license to the updated address). So for a second it was looking like I couldn't get a copy of my updated license nor could I buy a new one since your account locks when you get an ID remade. However, the guy who was helping me, Maximillian (I hope that's his name, I'm always renaming people), and his supervisor worked their magic and called up the headquarters and got the lock removed so I could buy a new license. I do wish I could have gotten it without pulling out my wallet but I'm just so happy I got what I wanted, that I don't even mind! Excellent customer service even though they might've been a little stressed out because I was *not* letting the issue go. I would have accepted defeat in peace if their efforts were in vain but they prevailed! I made sure to thank him multiple times but I felt like he deserved to be recognized here as well.

We had a pleasant conversation regarding my new picture and my 23 years of living in TX as opposed to Mass. I walked out at 9 AM at exactly my appointment time! Winner winner chicken dinner! This locale has plenty of parking and many DPS folks to assist. Pro tip: Make sure you bring all the required paperwork or you will be SOOLuck and have to reschedule.

The only person to blame is yourself for giving them your money. Separately, I've received crushed packages, no packages, and a family 3 blocks away share my same house number so we exchange wrong packages frequently; I'm lucky those people dependable, unlike the USPS. I have tried to support my local post office for many years now. Remember how we were encouraged to buy stamps and anything else to keep the USPS afloat? I'm old school; I did it all. Now I'm done. I should have learned my lesson long ago. I'm incredibly frustrated and disappointed. It's such a shame too because the clerks who have customer contact are some of the nicest and friendliest people I've met, and I've seen their faces for many years. They must take all the heat for late and missing mail. I will miss their smiles and the post office I remember, but I won't miss the grief I've experienced over and over again. My niece loves the little collectibles they have here where it's a mystery what's inside of it. Check out the gift finder online! I always have a hard time trying to find things for people and it's a great tool to give you some ideas. You can even buy online and pick up in store.
