I've never gone to a library that discriminates against people based on their neighborhood. I thought it was supposed to be for people to share the love of reading. People in my neighborhood have to pay a yearly fee, per person, for a library card, which makes no sense, since we are in the same town. Please, make this make sense, because it definitely does not. First time visiting the library! Small but has great selection of books our son needs. The librarians are very kind and helpful. I like that they no longer charges for late fees. Lost books will still be incurred with a charge. They also offer copy and printing services. read more

This is a nice community library. I saw a good sized children's room, as well as two study rooms, public computer rows, comfortable chairs for reading, and tables for working. There's a seed library from which you can check out up to 5 seeds to plant. Once they grow, you harvest the seeds and dry them out, then return them to the library to go back for someone else to use. I love that! The library also has many thematic displays of books. If you aren't sure what you would like to read, I suggest just walking around and looking at these displays. Something just may jump out at you. They also host many community programs. There are book clubs, adult programs (like a puzzle swap group and book brunch), teen programs (including an anime club and a teen homeschool hangout), and so many children's programs (story time, little one social hour, Lego free play, and Pokémon clubs). This is a lovely library. If you are a Leander citizen, definitely come on down, get your library card, and enjoy all that this library offers. read more

I had an incredibly frustrating experience at the Leander Library. I called ahead to ask if I could print a few pages on legal size paper, and the person on the phone confirmed that it was possible. However, when I arrived a few days later and explained what I needed, the staff member instructed me to log into the computer, attach my thumb drive, and print to legal size paper. I followed her instructions, but when I sent the print job, nothing happened. So I went to the desk and asked her where the prints were. She said she would have to review them first and she would check if they were set to legal. She checked. They were set to legal. Then she said there is no telling if it will actually print to legal size paper because it never does. WHAT!!?? I called ahead. I told her what I was doing when I got there. Now she says it won't work? She finally released the print job, but it printed on regular paper. I ask her why they didn't tell me on the phone that it never works, or when I arrived? The lack of professionalism and customer care was astonishing. She wouldn't respond to my question. She just kept saying the price, "a dollar twenty" or something like that. So rude and unprofessional. I have experienced so much incompetence with this library for years now. It's unbelievable. I've never experienced that at the Cedar Park Library. read more

This is one of my favorite local libraries, it's not the biggest but it's definitely warm and homey. Parking is a little inconvenient in that you have to hike in from a lot. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly to boot! While it caters to children readers they don't allow the little ones to overwhelm the adult spaces with noise. I particularly like the fact that the computer terminals and open spaces are kept in good repair, and that they have a decent selection of both books and DVD rentals. Thumbs up for Williamson County's support of these locales. Pro Tip: There's a used book 'store' just outside the library main door, check it out if you're looking for some bargain paperbacks. read more

This library has so much potential. They have a lot of space, but lack a lot of books. Their kids section is lacking of a lot of popular book series and graphic novels, and they could improve on some of their nonfiction books as well. They have been getting better with some of their new additions, but they still have a way to go. I would say most of their staff is friendly, but there are a few that lack people skills and could use some personality classes. They have some neat programs for kids, and they have a lot information about community events. I will keep going here because I am cheap and this saves me money on my reading addiction. I am just worried about the day that the book banning Nazis start trying to dig their teeth into this place, like some towns are already doing, as well as in the local school district here. When that day comes, then the reading choices will really get slim. Read on my intellectual warriors. read more

While we absolutely love the Leander library, most staff and we love contributing to and checking out seeds from the library. They run great events for all ages but oh my heavens avoid Amber at all costs. She nearly ran my 2yo over with a heavy bookcart, didn't apologize and instead was chastising both of us. It's not like I wasn't chasing down my three toddlers, he was 6 "from me when she nearly ran him over. I literally had to speak to the director to even get an apology. My advice--don't work in a place where small children come for positive experiences if you cannot positively contribute to this culture. We read constantly but will likely frequent another library unless there is some serious training or attitude adjustment. read more

I like our little Leander Library. No, it's not the biggest or the fanciest, but what it lacks in size, it makes up with its heart. This little library really does a lot for our little community of Leander and I'm thankful to have a great library in my town. Here are the highlights: -Decent selection of books for all ages. For being as small as it is, they keep a good selection of books and keep up with the big new titles that are always coming out. -The are part of Overdrive which allows you to check out books via downloading them to your reader. There are thousands of titles to choose from. You can check out books without even putting on pants! -They have DVDs and audio books available to check out. -Compuers with Internet access for patrons to use. I've never used them, so I can't talk about the speed, but it's nice to know they have them if I ever need them. -The children's library has all sorts of free events going on almost every day of the week. The have different aged group activities, so there's something for babies up to teens at least once a week. The activities range from story time to LEGO Club to STEM groups to game nights and many more! It's nice how they are building up the community and including so many. -Adult activities too! This library has adult book club, crafting days, special events, and even a Zumba class! -The Summer Reading Programs! They have one for adults and one for kids to boost reading. Adults earn drawing tickets for fun gift cards. The kids earn a lot of free coupons for food and treats, as well as drawing tickets for all sorts of gift cards. It's a great way to get everyone reading more. Yay for literacy! -The summer activities for the kids. They have a ton of special events all summer long to help parents find stuff to do with their kids instead of just watching tv. This summer so far we've been to a petting zoo, have seen the Flying Dogs of Austin, and a reptile show! They have even more going on through the summer. It's just so much fun and free! I really do like this library. It's small, but still nice. give it a shoot, if you are in the area. read more

It's definitely a Library. They have really "grown up" the last couple of years. The kids area is well stocked for this small town. The main section of the library is a little more hit or miss on current books and titles but because of where this library is located I couldn't expect them to be the main hub all all published items. The staff is unhelpful, the facility is dreary and not well maintained. The children's activities are not well done. The catalog is very lacking. The used bookstore is the main feature which I don't understand, I've never seen a public library with a used bookstore attached to it. I find all of this puzzling given the amount of taxes paid in Leander. We should have a much better library! read more

What a sad excuse for a public library. It's not even on a paved road and the one room brick buiding hardly qualifies as a library. Somehow, they house some of the more "important" literary works of our time, a sprinkling of some New York Times Bestsellers and a few computers for patron usage. I'm excited about their new library due to open in Fall 2006 because finally, the citizens of Leander, TX won't have to sneak into the Cedar Park Library. They're updating their systems to have more features and the new place is supposed to be stunning. read more

we go often, SAHM to 3 homeschoolers, we see the library quite often. The kids love it, only once were we not able to find a book we wanted. They were helpful about getting the tex-share card. They have a ton of classes you can attend, an all around great place. Kids programs, adult program, and my favorite is the knitting class. it has a small town aire to it, its refreshing! read more

This is my primary library, I have a text-share card for the Cedar Park Library as well as the Austin libraries... but the Leander library is such a friendly, hometown library to visit. It's not huge, or even that big really... but they can help you find anything you're looking for and have a great online system of reserving books. It's always quiet and they offer printing & faxing services that can come in handy. In regard to the older reviews comenting on the size of the building, they're in a new and larger building now, and there is even a bookstore attached to the entrance now, it's quite fancy. read more

By far the most rude staff I have ever met at a library. The library itself is ok. Not very large but decent selection. Nice place to go if you or your child doesn't have to interact with the staff here. Don't ask for help, especially with checking out your books. They can't be bothered to help you. Not sure what they do all day just sitting at their computer but it must be really important. My 10 year old son has asked for help finding a book that wasn't on the shelf and they told him to just 'look harder.' I had already helped him and no, it wasn't there. Such a disappointment that this is the one closest to my house but we will go to Cedar Park instead. And I even had to pay for our Cedar Park membership but it will be worth it. read more

I really really like this place they have some new computers with 7 core processors and huge screens. There are a lot of pretty teenage girls that go there some are at least 17 so not jail bait. It is really a fun place. Send your daughters there. read more

The NEW Leander Public Library located on Bagdad Road is still a really poor excuse for a public library. The $5,000,000 price tag for Leander taxpayers apparently went mostly for the nice new building and outsourcing contracts to a private library company located out of state. When I inquired at the front counter concerning the location of the reference desk, I was informed that all reference volumes are "intermingled" in the non-fiction section. I asked to be shown where the encyclopaedias were and was led to a shelf holding The World Book. What! no Britannica?, no Comptons? I have never been to a library that doesn't seem to have an authoritative dictionary on a table. The presence of new computer technology for public online access and for library logistics is impressive; however, this library has no books! The shelves are half empty! This library will make you want to donate books, not check them out. The Leander taypayers got ripped on this one. read more

Only a good library to those that haven't seen better. Dial-up Internet speeds in the kids room. Seems old and dated. The librarian seemed a bit grouchy. I like the location of this library because its close to where I live. The library staff is always friendly and helpful. They also have a lot of computers with wi-fi for their patrons to use. They even have DVD's to rent! This library is clean and always nice and quiet when I go in. They have plenty of areas where you can sit and read or study in peace. I would say the only thing they need to improve on is to carry more books. All in all, this is a great library! read more
