We visited with another couple and decided to go early and we were thankful we did. Word has gotten out about this restaurant and it got crowded pretty quickly. The food was good however, a few of the things seemed a little dry. The barbecue pork needed some sauce and a salad needed more dressing. The crabcakes were good, not too much filler but probably not worth ordering again. Since the restaurant has only been open seven weeks, I'm sure they're working out the kinks, but we will definitely be back. Love the charm of the establishment and the staff. We're all very welcoming.

Pork Chop

Decent start to a new place in Ashland. The drinks were good (though my martini was super small). We also liked the pork chop that my wife got.

This small family-owned and operated business was a treasure of a find. Truly a treat!…read more Staff: Staff, father & son duo were friendly and helpful ensuring the best experience possible. Food: Simply put- mind-blowing flavors. I had the crab clusters and they were amazing but expect to be messy in the best way possible. Each side I ordered was equally impressive. I'd highly recommend their fried corn and okra. Seeing it on the menu brought a smile to my face. Atmosphere: It was relaxing and quiet as the buzz from the chef in the kitchen prepared amazingly delectable treats in this mom-and-pop-style establishment. Please treat yourself and support this small business as it is truly a gem in the rough.

Sea's Bounty is located in the old Dairy Queen inside the Hanover Shopping Center intersection of England St and Washington Hwy. Key Summary: Primary foods are fried fish /shellfish and boils (mussels/shrimp, crab) and Po'boy sandwiches. They offer a wide variety of side fries, corn fritters, hushpuppies, fried okra, stuffed jalapeños, etc. Prices are amazing for the amount of food you get. This is one of the few places where I think the meals and sides might be underpriced. The gem of the restaurant is the owner. He was very nice the whole time, especially to my kids. It is clear he has a passion for cooking, and serving his customers. I was surprised that it was slow on a Friday evening, when we went. I hope it had picked up since I started this review. Anyway, I haven't been in awhile but the food was great when we went, the owner was amazing, and if you live in town or nearby and haven't tried this place yet, you should.

This is Around the Table. A family owned restaurant where everyone who walks in becomes family. I came in to get food to go after church which is probably their busiest day. The dining room was full of families eating after church or just enjoying a Sunday together. reservations are suggested. I went to the register and was met by one of the owners Ms Kelly with a warm smile. She made suggestions to my daughter and I and quickly got our orders in. They have everything from pork chops to catfish. From Mac and cheese to corn pudding and cabbage. And talk about Homemade desserts! Whew. While we waited for our food and we could watch the football game that was on the tv. We also met the other owner Ms Amie! They have an event space in the space next door and they were hosting a birthday party and catering the entire event. Every staff member I came in contact with had A1 customer service and with a smile. Our food was ready pretty fast and when it came up they went thru our whole bag with us to show our pipping hot order was correct. We barely made it to the car before we had sleeves rolled up and forks in. I highly suggest the Catfish with Cabbage, Yams and Corn Pudding. My daughter had cabbage and Mac and cheese and we shared some pound cake that was perfection. If you need a good home cooked meal and wanna feel the warmth of family I recommend you hurry to Around the table.

Rio Brazilian Steakhouse has a classy and nicely decorated ambiance. The space is a bit smaller…read morecompared to other Brazilian steakhouses, but it still feels comfortable and well put together. The food was very good overall. The salad bar was decent, though I wish there were more options. The meats, however, were flavorful and cooked exactly how I wanted. The highlights of the night were definitely the picanha and the lamb chops -- both were excellent. The top sirloin was okay but could use a bit more flavor compared to the others. Service really stood out. They were kind enough to accommodate a group of 23 people, including 5 kids, without a reservation, which we truly appreciated. Our server was very attentive and patient, and the staff delivering the meats were quick and extremely accommodating. They happily gave us extra slices when we asked, and sometimes they came by so fast we could barely keep up! Overall, I highly recommend this steakhouse. It's better than other Brazilian steakhouses we've tried and definitely worth the trip to Richmond. We'll absolutely be back!

Let me start by saying we've tried Texas de Brazil and Fogo de Chao (Fogo de Chao in Short Pump,…read moreBaltimore and Tyson's Corner and Texas de Brazil in Short Pump), and we now have a new favorite in Rio Brazil Steakhouse, which we visited on Mother's Day. All three have good food, but here is what sets Rio Brazil Steakhouse apart from the rest. The lighting in the restaurant is a little brighter but not too bright. You can actually see what you're getting and it feels more welcoming. You aren't dining in the dark. The staff are friendly and more personable. Our server was wonderfully attentive but not overbearing and made sure we received our meats cooked the way we preferred (and that we got to try the fried cheese, which was wonderful). He also made recommendations for drinks and desserts, which were spot on. The gauchos made their rounds with the different types of meats quite quickly; we didn't have to sit there and wait with nothing on our plates for any amount of time whatsoever. Rio offered more selections on their hot, side dish bar than the other two, which were tasty and kept at the right temperature - I recommend the potatoes au gratin, but that's my personal preference. The cold bar had a nice selection as well, which made it really hard not to eat too much before the main course. The Brazilian vinaigrette did not disappoint and is something I always seek out, as I can only find it at Brazilian steakhouses. The meats were seasoned well and we were particularly impressed with the chicken, as it was so tender and juicy, and the garlic sirloin, as the flavor was amazing and the meat very tender. We enjoyed all of the meats we tried, and I believe that, between the two of us, we tried all that were circulating. Then there were the desserts. Rio is the only one that I've seen that had flan in a long time, and theirs is even better than the flans I've tried that friends and family have made (sorry all my Filipino friends and family, yours is fantastic and I love yours, as well). I don't know what they did differently, but by all means, please keep doing it. Our server recommended the Brazilian Cheesecake for my s/o, and he absolutely loved it. It was like a New York cheesecake, but with caramel and Brazilian nuts on the top and fudge in the middle, and with a graham cracker crust. Wait, did I mention the red wine sangria? I knew I forgot something. I decided that it would be alright to have one, even though it was early in the day, since it was Mother's Day. It had a very nice flavor, and had just the right amount of fresh, diced fruits. I'm sure there's probably something else I'm forgetting, so I think we'll have to go back soon. It was all in all a memorable experience and I highly recommend.

First, I checked out the menu that is posted on the wall, and tried to make the right decision. EVERYTHING is homemade. Ok, I decided on the Tuna Salad on a white homemade yeast roll. You can select one side, so I had cucumber, tomato and onion salad. I couldn't pass up on fresh lemonade and a slice of one of the most delicious coconut pie I've ever had. The lady that took my order was soooo sweet and of course knowledgeable of the menu. I didn't feel rushed, just relaxed. Soooo we had the most interesting conversation that concluded her parents knew my mother back in the day. I didn't expect tears of joy at lunch. It was lovely! I didn't get her name, but I'll never forget her until I return with friends and family to experience this "small town" treasure. Ok, the food. The roll was golden brown, soft and screamed HomeMade. It was filled with a white flaky and well seasoned tuna salad, topped with fresh crunchy shredded lettuce. YUM ! The cucumber, grape tomato and onion salad had a lite vinaigrette dressing. Fresh !! There is freshly made strawberry lemonade, lemonade, Iced tea and the Pepsi fountain drink products. Ok, the star of the show. That slice of coconut pie was Perfect. The crust was brown, very flaky and filled with a thick creamy coconut filling. This little cute old town restaurant is next to the railroad track and train station that's across from Randolph Macon College. It's popular to the students and residents of Ashland. If you would like A DELICIOUS Lunch in a warm and cute small town restaurant, come to Homemade's by Suzanne!!!! Thank you
