Nice place with bar seating, tables and even lounge seating . Went right at 4pm so did not have a problem getting a table. In fact we were the only ones there but can imagine it would start to fill up soon. Art on the wall you can buy! Food: The meatball appetizer-good meatballs and good sauce. The sauce is different from the sauce that was on the pizza. Also good bread to dip into the sauce. Margherita Pizza- had a sweeter sauce than what came with the meatballs. Also wish there was more fresh mozzarella and basil but the dough was amazing and cooked perfectly! Water for the table was provided so we could keep refilling at our leisure. Ash & Olive was a true vibe! The locate art hanging on the walls and several areas to sit around with friends. Everything is cozy and comfy. The bar featured several well made cocktails and it was nice to know that they have NA beer as well. To order food you go up to the register and they bring it to the table. The kitchen was backed up a bit so my order was on hold for 10-15 minutes but it wasn't a problem. The whipped ricotta and pizza were great options that hit the spot. I also love the inside, it's very cute and gives a "home-y" type feel. Since it was an event, they catered a few dishes. I had the chicken salad, caprese sandwich, Caesar salad, prosciutto quiche, and an assortment of desserts. Everything was so good! I was very surprised at the chicken salad -- it was extremely good and I loved the flavor of the added cranberries! The Caesar was fresh and I loved the mix of leafy greens. The sandwhich we ordered was dry, a bit hard to swallow without a drink of water after. It also needed another element for a little more flavor, as it was bland. The pizza was good enough but nothing I would need to have again. The sauce was a too sweet, the crust wasn't crispy, and the toppings (cheese/pepp/jaleps) were all fine but nothing special. The charcuterie board was at a good price point for what you got, but just your standard cured meats and a couple small cheese portions. The tapenade was the best part. We stopped in for dinner, and the restaurant was not crowded at all. The staff was incredibly welcoming and gracious with suggestions regarding the menu. You have to order at the bar and then find a seat and they bring it to you then you have to pay at the bar when you leave. Not my favorite style of service. The restaurant filled up quickly after we arrived with a lot of families with younger children. Once the restaurant got more crowded, it appeared the staff was stretched a little thin and struggled to remember requests for ketchup, a box for leftovers, etc. I had the meatballs and the steak frites, which both were delicious. What a great addition to Ashland! Love the decor and vibe inside, laid back and eclectic. I've had lunch here twice while visiting from out of town. The panuozzo sandwiches are a must try - I could eat the pizza dough crust alone. On my most recent visit I had one of the daily specials, eggplant parmesan with garlic bread, and it was outstanding. Do not skip the desserts!!! I've been lucky enough to go when they had limoncello flutes and orange panne cotta. Order both, you will not regret it. The service was amazing. The first experience I had I think, was a new restaurant with a lot of people, working out kinks. The cava was great. I haven't had a cocktail there but from what I heard, they were hit or miss. It's a really cute place. Honestly the only thing I could say is that the menu should be organized a little differently with better font. Since you order at a counter it should be a "quick look" type of menu. The whipped feta was to DIE for, and the tiramisu can only be described as decadent- the coffee was literally oozing out of it, and the honey drizzle was a lovely touch. When you walk into Ash and Olive's spacious dining area, you'll notice banquet seating, several sets of small tables paired with two lounge chairs, a high table for large parties in the back area, bar seating, a wine rack with a small boutique of items for sale, and artwork from local artists lining the walls (they are available for purchase and prices are displayed). There are exposed brick walls, tin tiles lining the ceiling, and a colorful mural on the back wall. It's a relaxing, inviting atmosphere. You won't be greeted by a hostess and led to a table. You'll need to walk to the counter where it says "order here". That's where you will review the menu and place your order. Then you'll be led to your table (after being offered available seating choices). Your food and drinks will be brought to you when they are ready. After that you're on your own - - if you need a fork, more napkins, a second glass of wine, or anything else, you'll need to go back up to the counter. While this might seem odd, keep in mind that there is a shortage of waitstaff in our area restaurants, so this approach makes sense. The staff is friendly and happy to guide you through the menu and answer your questions. The food and beverage selection is unique and palate pleasing. The dinner specials menu offers enticing choices. I chose the Mahi Mahi with mushroom, asparagus, broccolini, and saffron farro, with romesco sauce. The meal was beautifully presented and a well balanced portion. I paired my meal with the German Riesling featured on the dinner specials menu. For dessert, I enjoyed the delicate sfogliatella pastry filled with lemon ricotta cream and raspberry coulis. We came on train day after the rush. They gave our order to a table that came in after us and then restarted our order for another 20 mins! We just got 2 slices of pizza, a kids plate and a meatball sub. 3 of the items that were advertised as a train day special! The meatball sub had NO sauce whatsoever and no flavor. 2 meatballs for $12. They kept substituting items on the kids plate so all we got was a plate of goldfish and a slice for cheese for $6. The slices of pizza weren't even enough to fill up my 6 year old. I would not recommend this place! Too overpriced and service was too long. read more
