    amaretto, rum and raisin
    Varun S.

After seeing people standing in line for ice cream at this place, we decided to give it a try. We ordered a small cup, which lets you choose two flavors, and picked rum and raisin along with amaretto. The amaretto didn't really have much flavor, but the rum and raisin was delicious and very flavorful. Glad we tried it!

I waited in line for maybe 15-20 mins, but the ice cream was good! They have such an extensive menu and it took me until I got to the front of the line to choose a flavor lol. I ended up choosing the pumpkin flavor since it was a seasonal flavor. Very creamy and delicious.

The frozen yogurt was fantastic, and thick and creamy! The service was great and he let us sample whatever we wanted. We went around five, and there was no line at all. Overall, highly recommend!

A classic ice cream shop this is a little bit over stimulating with all the people packed at the front door trying to get a sweet treat, and the large menu with tons of flavors. Additionally this place could use a revamp as the tables, chairs, flooring, and decor is old looking. The staff was ok but they only have 1 register in busy Georgetown. The ice cream is a great treat and they have a flavor for everyone in the family. I got the vanilla chocolate almond and throughly enjoyed it. My husband got strawberry and he was pleased as well. They also have ice cream cakes, chocolate, and coffee. There's also outdoor seating and street parking.

Do they have a ton of really cool flavors? Yes. Are they super busy and try to keep the line moving as fast as possible? Yes. Are they a little bit more rude than they should be? Yes. They also have a really weird role that you need to have a $10 minimum to have a credit card, really it's just a trick to make you have to buy more, which is pretty weird to me because I've never seen another restaurant do this. Just be aware of that before you come, with a group of friends, it is really fun to talk about all the different flavor options they have, and you will not be let down by them. I really loved the coffee Heath bar, and the butternickel, which is like a butterscotch toffee.

Classic ice cream spot with tons of flavors! Ambiance & Service: Classic ice cream shop vibe with plenty of indoor seating. Service was quick, but double-check your size if you want the kids' small! I thought I ordered the smallest size and it ended up being their traditional small! Butterbrickle Ice Cream with Oreos: Smooth, creamy, and delicious! The butterscotch/toffee flavor is a must-try. TL;DR: Great spot for creamy ice cream--don't miss the Butterbrickle!

Super yummy ice cream, however the amount that they give you is way too much for the size of the cup! It was a hot day and our ice cream was melting everywhere, however, we were determined to keep up since it was so delicious.

Delicious Amaretto, rum raisin, and coffee heath bar.

It's been awhile since I visited one of my favorite ice cream shop. They didn't disappoint. Same fast yet great customer service, many tasty flavors to choose from, and generous portions. I highly recommend getting their fresh tasty waffle cone with your order. My eyes were DEFINITELY bigger than my stomach when craving my three favorite flavors- rum raisin, amaretto, and coffee heath bar in their fresh made and tasty waffle cone. The coffee heath bar is not is an overly strong coffee flavor but you definitely taste the coffee flavor on the first lick then followed by crunchy heath bar pieces. The Amaretto has a mild almond crème based flavor. The rum raisin is a mild crème based flavor with very light rum flavoring and raisins all throughout. Rum raisin is my all time favorite ice cream and I'm picky because it's hard to find one that's flavorful with right balance of soft raisin pieces in it. Thomas Sweet has done it right! They also had samples of the heath bar fudge which was really good. Smooth and flavorful. Their fudge always looks so fresh and tasty. I wish they would sell it in smaller portions. I just can't eat that much. I recommend giving it a try as well.

This Georgetown gem doesn't disappoint. There are ample choices to satisfy each person in your party's preferences. The line even in winter is long, but it's worth it.

Good and fair priced ice cream shop in Georgetown! They stay open really late which is a plus. Went at 9:30pm and there was a line. It seemed like they were the only place open at that time. We waited for about 20 min so it wasn't too bad. Plenty of seats for dine in (inside and out). There's a credit card minimum. The ice cream itself is very good! Lots of different flavors to choose from. I had the banana split and finished the whole thing by myself!

They have a great list of unique rotating flavors, and it's always fun to come back to try out their new seasonal releases. A few of my favorites over the years have been their hibiscus sorbet -- a delightful dairy-free addition to their Hispanic Heritage Month flavors that is the perfect balance of tangy and sweet -- the cinnamon cardamom -- a super spiced ice cream that, despite being freezing cold, feels like you're about to drink a warm beverage -- and blueberry sour cream crumble. When I'm feeling less adventurous, they also have a really solid strawberry ice cream that uses real berries (none of that artificial nonsense you see in grocery stores) with a delightful fruity, slightly tangy flavor. There's usually a pretty long line, but it moves quite quickly since they don't allow samples. It's also a small space that gets crowded pretty easily, so I'd recommend taking your ice cream to go and enjoying it as you walk around Mt Pleasant or on the benches just below the entrance to Mount Desert.

They also don't let people sample, which is weird for an ice cream place. Overall, I would not recommend this place because paying $8+ to take a random chance on ice cream flavors is not worth it at all. At least let us sample first...

For the sorbet, I was recommended the Lemon Opal Basil and Sour Cherry flavors, and BABY... my taste buds were dancing! Then I grabbed my surprise coffee from Will. He made me an iced Oat Milk Dolce Delizia with a hint of vanilla, and it was right up my alley. After the very first sip, it was an instant connection... with the drink, of course. The vibes were so good that my friend and I ended up sitting there talking for a couple of hours. Between the incredible sorbet, my new favorite coffee order, and the cozy atmosphere, Dolcezza has officially inspired me to start going on late-night coffee hunts and yap sessions. I'll definitely be back! Oh, and fyi... it does get a bit crowded, BUT don't let that scare you away! Everyone was super considerate and didn't linger once they finished eating, so others had a chance to grab a seat and enjoy the space too. So don't get overwhelmed--just be patient, soak in the vibe, and it'll be worth the wait! Line moved pretty quick.

I've tried other DDL lattes from other coffee shops around the city and this one is by far the best. It's good hot and iced. The seasonal strawberry matcha is also very good. This place is great for the seasonal drinks and gelato flavors using local ingredients. My absolute favorite seasonal flavor is the Blackberries and Cream gelato. I ate it so much last summer that I could see the color of the gelato get darker as the season progressed and as the berries reached their peak. I got a few hand packed pints to keep in the freezer but they didn't last long. The mascarpone & berries is my favorite classic flavor. I've been to every Dolcezza location in DC and my favorite is the DuPont location. The baristas are chill and somehow their drinks taste better than the other locations. Not sure how that's possible but I notice a difference. I think it has something to do with how the drink order is entered at the register. At another location, I noticed my DDL latte was entered as a latte with DDL syrup and it was noticeably off. Not sweet at all. When I asked the barista he said there was no DDL button but at DuPont the drink is perfect every time. I'm not usually focused on nitpicking but if I'm paying $10 for a coffee, I expect the taste to be consistent regardless of location. Back to DuPont. This location has decent seating but definitely isn't appropriate for longer study sessions during busy times. There's a large communal table and bar style seating along the front window that is great for people watching (or construction watching). It's conveniently located, about a 10 minute walk away from the DuPont metro. Is Dolcezza expensive? Yes. Will I continue to use my discretionary income on $10 coffee and gelato. Yes, because it makes me happy and it's an act of self care.

This made the spontaneous stop worth it. They offer several fantastic flavors of hand dipped ice cream. I ordered the salted caramel in a cake cone. The ice cream was really good. The tangy Greek yogurt paired perfectly with the sweet, citrusy orange preserves, creating a unique and refreshing flavor that kept me coming back for more. I loved it so much that I ordered a small two-scoop cup and even took home a pint to enjoy later. The only downside wasn't the shop itself--it was the unpleasant odor outside while we were enjoying our ice cream on the benches.
