Hooker brewery on the first and third Fridays of the month was my favorite thing to do when I lived in the area. For $10 you could drink all your liver will let you and then go home at night with a sweet pint glass. Most of my glassware in my house, to this day, is from this place. Their tours/open houses are the most packed i've ever seen in a brewery. As such, parking sometimes was a bitch. I thought the beer was OK, my gripe is more with the way things are set up in there. I tasted the Munich, which was my favorite, as well as the Soft Spoken. The Irish Red Ale and the Blonde Ale were decent. The Noreaster and the Tenacious were not my cup of tea. The problem is that there is no organization here. There were easily 150 people there and no one knew where the lines were- in addition, as soon as you got the sample you basically just got back in line. Not that this is the brewery's fault (well, kind of) but there were a TON of people just cutting in line. They also, oddly, have a Wii set up right were the line would be for the beer- I got a nasty look from some woman trying to play Wii bowling (because that's what you are concerned about when you go to a brewery- the Wii bowling) that hit me when she reeled her arm back (because yeah, your not paying attention is MY fault). I think maybe when your beer has gotten as popular as it is, that you should probably consider a more organized way of people getting their samples. I gave up after my 6th sample and called it a wash and left. Also, probably best if you figure out if you're a brewery, or a bar. read more

We first learned that Thomas Hooker offered catering services when they supplied the post race food and beer after the O'Hartford race. (My fiancé at the time, could not get enough of the stew and had 4 helpings.) We originally wanted to have multiple food trucks cater our wedding, but after meeting with Thomas Hooker, we opted to have them provider all the catering from apps, to the meal, drinks and dessert. We were not disappointed. Josh is a magician with the food he creates and Steve was extremely accommodating and helpful - both in the days leading up to the event and the night itself. The tastings were some of our favorite parts of the wedding planning. The biggest problem that we had was trying to narrow down the options of what to choose because everything tasted so amazing. On the day of the wedding, Thomas Hooker staff went out of the way to make sure that we always had food or drink whenever we needed it. We even had staff bringing us appetizers and drinks during the photo session after the ceremony to make sure we didn't miss out. All of our guests raved about the food and drinks - and continue to do so. Some of our Massachusetts friends have even come down to visit the tap room locations because they loved the food and beer from our wedding. The beer trucks are able to accommodate 4 or 5 different taps, so we were able to have a good variety (we went with No Filter, Blonde, Oktoberfest, and a cider for our gluten free guests). Josh was even able to accommodate any and all dietary restrictions our guests had which was really important to us; my niece was recently diagnosed with celiac disease and needs strict gluten free food. We became huge fans of Thomas Hooker from day one and continue to visit both locations regularly. We cannot recommend Thomas Hooker enough for your wedding or any other upcoming event that you may have planned. Even if you don't have an event coming up, you should still stop by the Bloomfield location for their great pizza options (Hot Nashville Chicken!) or the Colt building location in Hartford (try the grilled cheese flight!) and you won't be disappointed. read more

Thomas Hooker is a great weekend stop! For $5 you get a bracelet that allows you 10 tastings. At first you think it's not going to be enough, but trust me it is. They have a great selection of different beers. I was very impressed! You also get a tour with your $5. The tour is short and we got to drink straight from one of the tanks. Nice! We went on a Saturday and it was packed with people! They do promptly close up at 5 though so get there early! The main area is open and everyone kind of stands around waiting for their tour while drinking lots of samples! There is another area with another sample bar and some couches as well as brew house memorabilia hanging about. They have a shop in this area too with t-shirts, hats, etc. as well as some great deals on cases sometimes too. We came home with two cases of their Munsons chocolate truffle stout. Sixteen dollars a case! That's a steal! read more

Solid rest...I mean beer stop on the way back from Boston to my home turf. Large location but weird hours for a brewery. Good thing we were hitting this place around 1:30pm on a Tuesday. There was a great selection beers on tap so I opted for the flight. I love that we could pick our own flights (after going to a handful of breweries that made you pick from a preselected flights). The big winner of the flight was #nofilter, a juicy IPA. I loved it so much I grabbed a six pack to take home. A great way to end my Boston Spring Break trip. read more

What a great way to spend a few hours for some pre-father's day festivities. For $5 you get a 4oz sample of 10 beers of your choice and a tour of the brewery. The beer selection was great and we got to try tons of flavors we've never seen before. Both the hubs and I loved the Munich lager which was smooth and perfectly balanced. The honey berry and watermelon were fun seasonal flavors. If you like a more dry cider theirs was light and fresh. We will absolutely be back and bringing friends with us! *The Comfort Zone pretzel food truck outside was an awesome added bonus! We snagged a garlic butter pretzel for $4 that was fresh out of the oven and awesome! It was the perfect way to round out our visit (and sober up a bit before the ride home). the NO FILTER is the BEST! i love how they sell their cans in house. a four pack for 12 bucks - seems a bit steep but for the flavor, it is all there. definitely going back soon to get some more to go. overall, the inside is decent - when it gets packed expect to stand. the only thing i wish they had was music - live or not. music would be the perfect touch. read more

Fun place! Yes there's not a lot of seating. Yes they use plastic cups. Beer is tasty. I like hop meadow and blonde. The watermelon one is good in small amounts. Seems to do a lot of take out business. Staff is friendly and helpful. I like the history of Connecticut and Connecticut breweries on the wall. read more

I'm giving this place 5 stars simply because Dayna has been the best person to deal with customers on the 1st and 3rd Friday open house events. Her customer service is extraordinary, she has fantastic beer knowledge, she remembers her customers and knows what they like. She is always on top of things and I would 10/10 recommend her for anything that has to deal with Thomas Hooker. If I could make a recommendation to management I would say she needs a promotion and raise. Without Dayna the nights would be boring and people would have to consistently remind the staff what they want to drink. Again Dayna is a 10/10 bartender, Thomas Hooker specialist. Also, Danielle is another 10/10 employee. She also is on top of her game every time we come to visit. She also needs a raise and a promotion! read more

Came to the Brewery on a Saturday afternoon. $5 gets you 10 4 oz. tastings and a tour of the brewery. I believe they have a groupon special right now so if you're planning to go, i'd check that out. As for the beer, it was great. Make sure to walk into what appears to be a gift/apparel store for more beer options! I didn't notice it until i was down to 4 more tastings which was quite unfortunate. The tour was quick and simple, just the way I like it. I wish there were more activities around but overall, definitely worth the money. This is the first brewery i've been to in CT so it'll be my base for comparison. If you're ever in the bloomfield area, you should definitely stop by! Parking can be a little hard on Saturdays as it gets pretty crowded though. read more

you cant beat $10 for unlimited hookers!! when i was here it was pretty crowded - and the crowd ranged from college kids getting their drink on to some older foody type people really enjoying the fresh suds. the snacks weren't really worth mentioning, i think it was also someones birthday when we were there - so there was cake, and beer. fill the pint glass (usually half way) and get back on line while you drink .. they had a seasonal beer when we we there - watermelon - which i expected to be gross, but i was pleasantly surprised .. if you are in the area and want to sample all the beers and they are doing one of these open houses you gotta stop by and check it out!! the ambience is well ... a brewery. you are drinking amongst big stainless kettles and bottling machinery, its pretty cool .. it smells like hops and yeast. this is where the hooker magic happens! at the end of it all, you get to keep your classy hooker pint glass! read more

There's an outdoor area to sit when the weather is nice. Sometimes there's food trucks too which is great if you start getting a little buzzed lol. This place is pretty spacious. There are 2 bars. One in the front room, the other in the back where the gift shop is. Enjoyed the tour and samples. Let me tell you, I wasn't able to drink all 10 samples. But we had just come from another brewery, so maybe if I made it a singular event it would work. I was hoping they would serve brewtus Maximus on tap but they didnt. Be sure to bring a designated driver. With the number of samples you get, some people need it. And there was a police cruiser at the end of the street looking for drunk drivers. read more

I was excited to come here to try some local beer! This was my first time at a brewery. I was able to sample 5 different beers. My favorite was the chocolate coconut stout... wow!! The staff was cool and super accurate with describing their flavors. Definitely enjoyed most of the beers! We brought a couple assorted six packs home with us. This is a fun place! I enjoy visiting during one of their open house nights. They usually have some pizza there and you can sample small servings of everything they have on tap. Love it here! The atmosphere is laid back and easy going. The beer is awesome. You get a wrist band with 10 sample tickets. There are comfortable couches, nice televisions playing the games popular at the time and movies (JAWS when I was there) and great beer! It's a very reasonable price for tastings and a tour. I went here for the Friday Open House which occurs on the first and third Friday of every month. For $10 you get to taste as many beers on tap as you'd like and also can join the brewery tour. Great value for $5 for 10 samples on Saturdays. We went on a snowy day and it wasn't crowded at all. I mean there were sometimes 2-3 people ahead of you but not huge lines or crowds. There was no space to sit in the front room but the back had a bunch of couches and merch to purchase. We picked up a $15 watermelon case (in February) to get us through the snowy winter. read more

For only $5 you get a tour of their brewery (which is a decent size compared to many other craft breweries), 10 4oz samplings of any of their beers currently on their many taps and an afternoon to relax. It's in an odd area, but once you get inside all of that is forgotten. We came on a Saturday afternoon and the place was about half full, giving us plenty of room to move around and to get to one of the two different bars to get our samples. The tour was pretty thorough and lasted about 15 minutes. The guide was very knowledgeable about not only the beer making process but their go-to-market strategy and the state of business overall. Thomas Hooker brewery is a must visit for beer fans. It's located in a random industrial park in Bloomfield. The tasting room is homey with bar stools and couches. I recently held an event for a professional organization here. It was a great place to have a social event. They charged $75/hour to use the facility, which included staff and brewery tours, and tables/chairs set up. They also charged $10/pp for beer tasting, which occurred throughout the evening. The atmosphere was great, the beer was awesome and we were able to bring in our own food which helped to keep the cost down. Overall, a fun place to be and would definitely consider having future events at Hooker Brewery. read more

Our son and his fiancee, now wife, had their rehearsal gathering at the Thomas Hooker Brewery on December 28th. They also had a pizza truck with lots of snacks. The folks at the Brewery were so helpful, a lot of fun and down to earth but also professional. Enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere and the beer choices were awesome and tasty. We've hosted a company event for the last two years at Hooker Brewery and couldn't be happier. They are very easy to work with, so accommodating and are used to hosting events at their brewery all the time. I had a pretty good time when I came here for a Saturday tour and tasting. The tasting room was a fun and social place, although it was pretty bare and cold factory type of place with little flare and decorations. I had to spend two hours in their tasting room before my tour, which really wasn't such a bad thing, except for the fact that I got so drunk I didn't even remember the tour itself. Like seriously not a single recollection of even going on it so I honestly cannot rate that part of my experience. But while I obviously had a fun time, I don't think the beer itself is anything to take a trip here for. It was fine and drinkable, but as far as craft beers go, you could do much much better. If you live nearby and have nothing to do on a Saturday afternoon definitely check this place out, but if you are really into beer and want to taste something great, you might want to go elsewhere. read more
