Stop by with hubby and the kid after a light lunch at parkville market to enjoy some delicious craft beer in a really cool space. Had fun playing games, definitely worth checking out. Service was friendly and quick

The best lagers in Connecticut, this side of New Haven. East Rock finally has some competition in their field. Redding Beer Company may even have a challenger! Did you hear that Hog River Brewing closed their taproom? I didn't. Did you hear someone bought it? I didn't. But I live in western Connecticut, so I rely on word of mouth, which failed to let me know that Alvarium's former head brewer took his wife to visit Prague, and came back with a newfound respect for tasty, lower-alcohol, easy-drinking Czech beers. We ordered a few small pours, so we thought, and wound up with over two liters of various beers on our table for $23. I had the Peace Pipe, a Polish grodziskie (smoked pale ale), which was a thin wheat lager with heavy beechwood and oak smoke. Stick that one in my veins. I also tried the Sugar Leaf, a traditional American IPA (read: not a juicy hop bomb) that gets its citrus and lemongrass notes more from actual citrus rather than the hops that are used to flavor it. While it's not in their wheelhouse, they definitely bring their Eastern European brewing skills to the table and make something you haven't tasted in decades, back when IPAs were actually derived from the British recipe. My girlfriend had the Red Band -- a rötbier, or Nuremberg red lager. It's heavy on caramelly malts and nutty, toffee notes while being light on the palate and stomach (we both ate full meals before coming here). She also got the Smoked Weizen, which takes a classic banana-ish Hefeweizen and mixes it with enough smoke to cut through the sweetness. (It sounds like all their menu is rauchbiers, but we ordered all the smoky beers based on our tastes.) While they don't serve food of their own, besides Drunk Alpaca chips, they are walking distance from Petrolhead Café and Parkville Market. Or bring your own. Breweries come and go, but Dead Language has livened up the lager scene! Look out, Redding and East Rock. A challenger has entered the fray.

The long and the short of it! That's Chris, one of the owners, behind the brews. Cheers!

Most excellent! After coffee at Petrol Head, and a Tarot card reading at Curioporium, we went to Dead Languages for some beers. They are brand, spanking, new so I wish them well! They have an excellent and extensive selection of beers and the space is amazing! Cheers!

There's a back bar setup that isn't being utilized yet, which would be a great option for private parties in the future.

Every time we are in the area we make a point of going here. Good beer with some interesting but solid options. If hungry BYOF.

The brewers were brewing, and the space inside was nice. They also had an expansive outdoor area and plenty of parking. The drinks were well done, lots of flavors and varieties on tap. No one complained about the beers though the drinks were small for the price. The food venue towards the back was pumping out pizzas from a giant pizza oven with a blazing fire. I ordered some appetizers from the menu for my team to share. Meatballs, elote, and waffle fries. The apps were not easily shareable but we made it work. Waffle fries were generic and not crispy enough. The elote was corn pancakes rather than corn on the cob. My mistake for not fully reading the menu. Flavor was good but messy. Meatballs were good in terms of flavor and consistency, got a decent amount for the price too. The meatballs were the best bite. The pizza is trying to be New Haven style but is missing the structure. Way too floppy and heavy for the style of crust. Needs to be lighter on the sauce and cooked just a couple minutes more to really solidify that bottom and get rid of the tip droop. Cheese had a good elasticity to it though, good cheese pulls. As an informal event venue, it's pretty good but pricy for what you get. As a local brewery, if it can keep its events constant then it will do well. As a food venue, it's high for where it is but the quality is reasonable. A few more shareable apps beyond pizza and just a few small tweaks to the pies and they will be great.

I had no idea what to expect, but this is a beautiful brewery. The silver tree inside is probably my favorite part, honestly. So I'm the worst and I'm allergic to beer, but luckily they have some hard seltzer options. I tried both, can confirm Zombie is incredible and officially one of my fave hard seltzers I've had. I liked the wormhole one as well, but I'm a huge fan of cranberry so that's why I liked the zombie one more. Can't wait til they start serving food here and the kitchen opens officially, I love it!

I loved the aesthetic of the two rooms we were in. Although the decorations were brought by the party for the event, you could still tell the space had great bones. I loved the hanging pothos from the ceiling rods. The food was delicious, although a bit run of the mill. I did not drink but I heard others raving about the selection of beer. I'd definitely come back in the warm weather and see what it's about on a casual day.

Doyle works in the financial services industry, but had wanted to open his own brewery for a number of years. A friend introduced him to Dee: a homebrewer with an education background in biomedical science. Atkins, a huge craft beer fan, came on board for the project after Doyle and Dee started getting serious about opening their own brewery. A logo, business plan, and financing were put together. Although the brand was founded in 2015, it took nearly two years to find the right location. In 2017, New Park opened at The Shops at 485 New Park: a former ball bearings factory turned multi-media venue. New Park's mission is to offer consumers the highest quality beverages and experiences that they possibly can. In recent years, the brewery has also begun producing intervention wines, heirloom cider, and sourdough pizza in addition to their artisanal brews. I first visited New Park Brewing in March 2018, when they had just turned a year old. I was very impressed from that first visit and they quickly became one of my Top 5 favorite Connecticut breweries. I recently visited the taproom for the second time ever. I had heard that they started crafting artisanal sourdough pizza pies in recent years and wanted to try them paired up with their excellent beer. I love the whole industrial design vibe that's going on inside the taproom. Since my initial visit, the brewery has also since added an outdoor biergarten and an indoor private event space with a stage and bar (dubbed "The Green Room"). I started off with a short pour of one of my go-tos: "Cloudscape" (IPA). It's delicious, hazy, and full of citrus and tropical fruit notes. For pizza, I ordered the "Soppressata" (red sauce, fior di latte, mozzarella, soppressata, red onion, goat cheese, honey, grana padano) and the "Chef Special" (pecorino cream, fior di latte, mozzarella, arugula, prosciutto, balsamic glaze, grana padano). To pair with them, I ordered a sampler flight which featured "Little Cloud" (IPA), "Steppe" (Barrel-Aged Saison), "Elmwood" (Dry Cider), and "Double Cloud" (Double IPA). Between the stellar brews and the heavenly pizza, I was in pure bliss! There's a reason why New Park is one of my favorite Connecticut breweries; I hope to be back again and again!

I first visited these guys when they were operating out of a small barn, and seeing the evolution to this 53,000 sq ft, $18.5M facility is seriously impressive. They follow a "direct-to-consumer" model -- selling everything right out the front door -- and they've mastered it. I've been here many times over the years and go whenever I have the opportunity, which says everything. Tried some of their standout beers -- King Julius is the gold standard, consistently ranked among the best beers in the world. Their flagship Julius is just as impressive, with massive notes of mango and peach -- incredibly well balanced and executed. There are usually food trucks on site, which adds to the experience -- you can enjoy a fresh pour while picking up your take-home haul. Fun fact: On BeerAdvocate's all-time Top 250 list, Tree House often has 30+ beers featured, something almost no other brewery can match. Overall, some of the best beers anywhere -- truly unparalleled and absolutely worth the visit. Saluti.

Hint: this time of year is actually a great time to visit their sandwich location, especially if you can catch a decent weather day. The real reason for the update is that they now have pizza in Charlton! At the time of writing this, it's only by the slice and only M-Th. They lack the capacity to feed the masses at this time but I'm guessing the goal is to ramp up to full production eventually. Unfortunately, my slice last night was not the best they can do. Undercooked, slightly cold and a little chewy, and no char. I look forward to when it's hot and fresh, but for now, at least it's a start!!
