Now I only asked about wines, but just the amount of variety in wine selection blew me away. Also, I just had the pleasure of having an app bug the menu looks extensive for a brewery. Loving the fact that I can possibly add a bunch of different proteins into solid salad options. I was tempted to to do that but just needed a little fuel before hitting the road. I got the hummus app which doesn't so d like a big deal to make- but let me tell you- there is craft I. This hummus plate. The beet flavor is a delish variation. Stopped at the Thomas Hooker Brewery at Colt on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We love the family and pet friendly atmosphere. They have an awesome selection of beers as well as a full bar. The staff were extremely friendly and the service was great! The wings are awesome. Well seasoned. We also had the brussel sprouts, which has a honey balsamic reduction, shaved Parmesan, pickled red onions, and toasted almonds. I was not a fan and wouldn't order them again. Super impressed with this brewery! I was a little skeptical about going at first, the location was strange and part of what seemed like an apartment building or a school, but I'm glad I decided to try it. The inside was very nice and had more tables than I expected, they also had a nice patio outside with a fire going. They have a great happy hour, which surprised me for a brewery. They have discounted food specials as well as $2 off draft beers. After the discount the beers ended up being $4-5 each. Their beer is delicious but I was equally impressed with the food. I did not have high expectations for the food, but everything was great. I ordered the pretzel bites ($6 during happy hour) and the Nashville sliders ($10 during happy hour). The pretzel bites were nice and soft and the beer cheese that came with them were very tasty! The sliders were very good as well, each one came with a decent size portion of pulled chicken that had a nice kick to it, pickles and some sort of sauce. The buns they were served on seemed like a slider style brioche bun that was perfectly toasted! Overall I was super satisfied with my visit. My only complaint was the fact that the staff was not the friendliest and they seemed kind of annoyed at times, but that did not take away from the experience! read more

Awesome addition to the neighborhood! I hung out a few hours here on a Saturday afternoon. I guess their schtick is that they have an experimental area, so I got to try Ode to Blimpy (amazing) and Double #Nofilter (also good). They offer flights, as well. A lot of the Hooker oldies but goodies are here. People brought in food from other spots, which is a nice feature, but they also have a short menu. The cheese plate for 2 was abundant (see my pic), and their quesadilla, while not amazing, hit the spot after a beer or two. I appreciate the option to order food! Good spot for people watching. My husband and I have been visiting Thomas Hooker Brewery at Colt since they opened and we just love it, so much so that we've been twice in the past week! I love the variety of beers that they have on tap (the watermelon ale is the perfect summer beer) and that they also do cocktails and wine so we can bring our non-beer loving friends along with us! The food is delicious (get the chicken quesadilla!) and the atmosphere is great! Definitely be sure to ask any of the employees about the history of the place and take a close look at the wood that they used for the bar because it's very cool! read more

Love the neighborhood and this new brewery fits in nicely! It's a great spot, up and coming area and easy lot parking (with security!). The staff was welcoming and bar new, clean and modern. I was here for the soft opening / ribbon cutting and the energy was good - but oddly on this day the weather was unusually cool so no one wanted to sit on the (cute) patio and listen to the live music. My only complaints were that I felt something was missing - cool food, more TV's, something to define it and separate it from the plethora of breweries opening throughout the region. First time at this Hooker location. There are cool old photographs on wall of Colt Manufacturing. Nice patio outside. The food and drinks were good. Mia was a one-person show there; taking care of the bar, delivering food, and putting up umbrellas on the patio. Often servers make a difference and Mia did just that - hard worker and great personality! I was told the place can get little crazy when there is a game at the nearby soccer stadium so you may want to keep that in mind. read more

Stopped in on a busy Friday evening with my sister. Easy to find with ample parking. Large new taproom in a residential building. We were lucky to get 2 seats at the bar. I'm familiar with Hooker beer, so I immediately ordered a #no filter, which is one of my favorites. Tasted even better, something about getting it fresh at the brewery, although they're only brewing special beers at this location. Needless to say, I enjoyed 2 pints! My sister got the Chocolate Truffle Stout-so delicious and the Irish Red. There is outside seating for when the weather is better. And pet friendly with treats available. The food menu looks very yummy. Unfortunately, we had eaten before we came. Bathroom was spotless. There are games to play. We enjoyed our visit and will not hesitate to return. read more

I stopped by here this past Monday with my coworker for some after dinner drinks and trivia. We arrived to the Thomas Hooker Brewery at Colt at around 6 to find the place somewhat empty. If you have never been here before this brewery is located in a pretty cool setting and space. Through the large windows you can see the famous Colt onion dome which has some golden stars on a blue background. Inside the space is pretty open with plenty of seating, a large bar, cool circular chandeliers, exposed ductwork and a white washed wall. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to go with a flight on this evening. For $8 you get 4 - 5 oz pours which I thought was pretty good. Since they had four IPAs on tap, I decided to go with all of them. That means I chose the Belma IPA, Hop Meadow IPA, bandwagon grapefruit IPA and Super Duper Double Citra. I enjoyed all of the beers that I had here with the super duper double citra being my favorite of the bunch. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. A nice addition to Hartford away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, you can find yourself playing games in the back, chatting at the bar or lounging outside on the patio while enjoying a blonde ale, watermelon ale or a IPA. They host trivia nights, game nights along with community events like UHart Alumni event that I was witness to while on a date night. They occasionally have a food truck there for some food and I can only assume that they allow food to be brought as well. Very quiet and calm brewery. I sat in the lounge area and unfortunately I wasn't tended too much. They did grab us beers but the waitress didn't ask if we were getting food or not so we sat there for another 15 minutes before we walked up to the bar to order the food. Same with the bill, I understand not rushing us, but I just found it a little strange that they barely checked in with us. However, they were sure to ask if we wanted refills on the drinks. Love having this place right in Sheldon/Charter Oak neighborhood. Nice patio with cute string lights gets even better in the cooler weather when they bring out the propane fire pits (though sometimes they can't keep up with refueling the tanks- call ahead). Always a nice selection of beers on tap- I'm a fan of the No Filter IPA and DIPA. If Hooker would ever get rid of the sexist "Naughty Nurse" named beer, they'd get 5 stars from me. While I am still exploring all Hartford has to offer, I am happy with this new staple in the historic Colt complex. Thomas Hooker beer is always a solid choice. The beer was reasonably priced and they had a good variety on tap when we were there. They don't serve food on premises but you can order from a nearby place and they have the menus available. While it was a nice place to hang out and could accommodate many groups on the outside patio area, it was really missing any sort of originality or anything to make it stand out, aside from the beer. They kind of leaned into the fact that they are located at the historic colt complex, but I could use more-- decor, vibe, ambiance. I'm not sure, but it is definitely missing something. read more

Hooker brewery tap room is a great addition to Hartford and a nice addition to the Colt building. We attended on Sunday and it turned out a great spot to watch the Patriots win. Like most breweries they allow you to bring in outside food. But they also have a meat and cheese plate that we enjoyed. It was a really hot day so we sat inside ( Pats game) . But there is also a great outdoor area to enjoy their delicious beers. Now on to the beers. We sampled a bunch the Belma IPA is good not our favorite, had a strawberry and pineapple flavor. Just not our thing. The Blond is of course their most popular and a delicious golden type ale. Their seasonal Octoberfest was our favorite of the day by far. I've been thinking about coming here for a while since we enjoyed our visit to the original brewery. We had some old favorite beers today but also tried their new Rose IPA. I was not very impressed with this new beer even though I love rose and IPA separately. We also sampled the food menu and trieed quesadilla and reuben sliders.
