We love having Hooker Brewery at Colt so close to us! This is such a cute spot with a nice outdoor patio. They're also super dog friendly! Huge tap list with your favorite Hooker beers and even the "Goat-Aid" that's exclusive to Yard Goats! They also have small snacks which aren't anything to write home about but hit the spot if you need something to munch on. Skip the cheeseburger sliders. The pretzel bites were great!
I came in here on a Saturday afternoon when I was in town for the Hartford Marathon. It wasn't too busy and it was easy to find a seat. I ordered a flight and a half order of nachos. The half order was a large portion and they did not skim on the toppings!
We got there right as they opened. The orange dream on tap was sooo good. Very refreshing. The cosmo was good too. My friend enjoyed the watermelon ale. We also got the chips w guacamole and salsa. I really liked the salsa. The server was so nice and speedy when serving us our drinks and food! We sat outdoors and enjoyed the nice weather. We went there during happy hour and it was very affordable! Like 6$ a drink. Great!
Super impressed with this brewery! I was a little skeptical about going at first, the location was strange and part of what seemed like an apartment building or a school, but I'm glad I decided to try it. The inside was very nice and had more tables than I expected, they also had a nice patio outside with a fire going. They have a great happy hour, which surprised me for a brewery. They have discounted food specials as well as $2 off draft beers. After the discount the beers ended up being $4-5 each. Their beer is delicious but I was equally impressed with the food. I did not have high expectations for the food, but everything was great. I ordered the pretzel bites ($6 during happy hour) and the Nashville sliders ($10 during happy hour). The pretzel bites were nice and soft and the beer cheese that came with them were very tasty! The sliders were very good as well, each one came with a decent size portion of pulled chicken that had a nice kick to it, pickles and some sort of sauce. The buns they were served on seemed like a slider style brioche bun that was perfectly toasted! Overall I was super satisfied with my visit. My only complaint was the fact that the staff was not the friendliest and they seemed kind of annoyed at times, but that did not take away from the experience!
Loved this place. Bartender was perfect. Pulp'd raspberry was the best fruit beer I've ever tasted. Worth walking in pouring rain. Great interior and if I lived here I'd come often. A+
We loved our 2nd visit. Food was awesome Beer was great Overall ambience was great. We ordered tacos and sliders. Sliders were the best.
Loved this place. It was quiet and the beer-tender was great. She was very helpful and accommodating. The beers were good and we got to pet a few dogs!
Stopped with the fam after a visit to the Science Center. Nice and quiet on a Tuesday afternoon. I had the Oktoberfest which I know and is tasty. Husband got a citrusy IPA. They have a cute menu of bar snacks and tacos. Order at the bar, both bevs and snacks. Friendly staff. Super clean. Board games available in the corner.
Having been to Hooker's Bloomfield location a dozen times, I was looking forward to my first visit to their newish downtown Hartford location in the shadow of the Colt Building's distinctive blue onion dome. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=1lvz5nF4jsm-HBoZzQGZyg&userid=cVrM2BvOvPV0Vi_rC8kepQ The modern looking tap room has quite a bit of window glass on three sides, so there was a lot of natural light pouring inside. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/thomas-hooker-brewery-hartford?select=JcXf3bxtkGiQs8IUVQsIcQ There are many tables and chairs and high tops and perimeter counters with chairs. There are board games and plenty of TV's on the walls (they had the Yankee game and golf on the screens yesterday). If you take a stroll to the restrooms, you'll also see the big brewing tanks in their lab and "Test Kitchen". There were nine beers and one cider on tap yesterday. A stout, IPA's, a red, two fruit beers, and an ale. Full pours were $6 -$8 and a flight of four 5-oz samples was $8. We went for a full pour of the Watermelon Ale and the Pineapple Pale Ale. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/thomas-hooker-brewery-hartford?select=kJ-iGrqATKMYXR5y5Gehyg I liked them both, and in a tough call, I'd say I preferred the Watermelon because of its hint of sweetness. Hooker Hartford has a food menu -seven choices priced from $9-14 (soft pretzel or meatloaf bites, tacos, a flatbread, sliders, grilled cheese, tacos, and skins. We went with a $10 order of Soft Pretzel Bites https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/thomas-hooker-brewery-hartford?select=t-8euFAXjyygs0bhekQ__g served with mustard and ale cheese dips, and a $14 order of a Grilled Cheese Flight. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/thomas-hooker-brewery-hartford?select=f8x0A7Q1LHDqpQkK6sontA A Grilled Cheese Flight is a pretty unique dish - of three long toasted bread crisp sandwiches with 1) Chorizo and Manchego, 2) Pear Grape and Gorgonzola, and 3) Pesto, mozzarella, tomato, and chicken. All three of them tasted great, with the unique cheese flavors clearly recognizable, but if I had a quibble, I'd say they didn't have enough cheese in there. When I think of Grilled Cheese, I think of a thick ooey gooey layer of cheese, and that wasn't the case here. But make no mistake about it, the taste was excellent. Bottom line? We had a very enjoyable lunch here.
Went for happy hour this past Friday and had a nice low key time! It was a cool day and it wasn't crowded at all, which was very nice for us at that time....we shared some apps and a couple of beers and left with a big smile on our faces! Will definitely visit again!
Awesome addition to the neighborhood! I hung out a few hours here on a Saturday afternoon. I guess their schtick is that they have an experimental area, so I got to try Ode to Blimpy (amazing) and Double #Nofilter (also good). They offer flights, as well. A lot of the Hooker oldies but goodies are here. People brought in food from other spots, which is a nice feature, but they also have a short menu. The cheese plate for 2 was abundant (see my pic), and their quesadilla, while not amazing, hit the spot after a beer or two. I appreciate the option to order food! Good spot for people watching. You could tell lots of people were "making a day of it" by coming to this taproom.
My husband and I have been visiting Thomas Hooker Brewery at Colt since they opened and we just love it, so much so that we've been twice in the past week! I love the variety of beers that they have on tap (the watermelon ale is the perfect summer beer) and that they also do cocktails and wine so we can bring our non-beer loving friends along with us! The food is delicious (get the chicken quesadilla!) and the atmosphere is great! Definitely be sure to ask any of the employees about the history of the place and take a close look at the wood that they used for the bar because it's very cool!
Came here on my way back to the Airport headed back home to Texas. Tried the Cider and the Sour and while they were both a 10/10, the NE IPA was OUT OF THIS WORLD, and I hate IPA's... there is something to be said about that. Everything I had was pleasant, smooth, and great to the taste. I suggest the Sour and the NE IPA!

Ok. Y"all why didn't I know this existed. It is a cute brewery. I mean I feel like this brewery is for the gurrrls. It has as interesting wine and cocktail as it has beer. Now I only asked about wines, but just the amount of variety in wine selection blew me away. Also, I just had the pleasure of having an app bug the menu looks extensive for a brewery. Loving the fact that I can possibly add a bunch of different proteins into solid salad options. I was tempted to to do that but just needed a little fuel before hitting the road. I got the hummus app which doesn't so d like a big deal to make- but let me tell you- there is craft I. This hummus plate. The beet flavor is a delish variation. The nuts and cheese complement it well. It's also a feast for the eyes! See the pic! Service was friendly and attentive I will be sure to bring friends for a nice cocktail. The patio beckons! read more

Love the neighborhood and this new brewery fits in nicely! It's a great spot, up and coming area and easy lot parking (with security!). The staff was welcoming and bar new, clean and modern. I was here for the soft opening / ribbon cutting and the energy was good - but oddly on this day the weather was unusually cool so no one wanted to sit on the (cute) patio and listen to the live music. My only complaints were that I felt something was missing - cool food, more TV's, something to define it and separate it from the plethora of breweries opening throughout the region. Overall a fun stop for some unique breed in a terrific location . read more

Stopped in on a busy Friday evening with my sister. Easy to find with ample parking. Large new taproom in a residential building. We were lucky to get 2 seats at the bar. I'm familiar with Hooker beer, so I immediately ordered a #no filter, which is one of my favorites. Tasted even better, something about getting it fresh at the brewery, although they're only brewing special beers at this location. Needless to say, I enjoyed 2 pints! My sister got the Chocolate Truffle Stout-so delicious and the Irish Red. There is outside seating for when the weather is better. And pet friendly with treats available. The food menu looks very yummy. Unfortunately, we had eaten before we came. Bathroom was spotless. There are games to play. We enjoyed our visit and will not hesitate to return. read more

Who says there is nothing to do on a Sunday in Hartford? Went prior to the Jerk Festival to have a beer on the patio and even though it was 90+ that day, the patio was shaded and enjoyable to sit on. All beers are available to go and the summer watermelon is refreshing on a hot day!! read more
I stopped by here this past Monday with my coworker for some after dinner drinks and trivia. We arrived to the Thomas Hooker Brewery at Colt at around 6 to find the place somewhat empty. If you have never been here before this brewery is located in a pretty cool setting and space. Through the large windows you can see the famous Colt onion dome which has some golden stars on a blue background. Inside the space is pretty open with plenty of seating, a large bar, cool circular chandeliers, exposed ductwork and a white washed wall. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to go with a flight on this evening. For $8 you get 4 - 5 oz pours which I thought was pretty good. Since they had four IPAs on tap, I decided to go with all of them. That means I chose the Belma IPA, Hop Meadow IPA, bandwagon grapefruit IPA and Super Duper Double Citra. I enjoyed all of the beers that I had here with the super duper double citra being my favorite of the bunch. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I enjoyed not only the location of this brewery but also their beers as well. read more

Very quiet and calm brewery. I sat in the lounge area and unfortunately I wasn't tended too much. They did grab us beers but the waitress didn't ask if we were getting food or not so we sat there for another 15 minutes before we walked up to the bar to order the food. Same with the bill, I understand not rushing us, but I just found it a little strange that they barely checked in with us. However, they were sure to ask if we wanted refills on the drinks. The food was awesome, I got meatloaf bites and the Quesadillas (which came with a lime guacamole) and granted I got the Stowe Cider which I did enjoy. read more

I mean what can't you love about Thomas Hooker? I was able to take one of my favorite out of town guests out for some local brews and I knew just where to take them. For a Thursday night the place was pretty quiet and we were served by the really nice bartender. Two flights and the pretzel bites. OH MY GOSH THE PRETZEL BITES Y'ALL! Seriously they were amazing. Soft and warm and the mustard, we could've eaten two orders of them but had other stops to hit. Can't wait to come back when the weather is nicer or after a Yardgoats game! read more

While I am still exploring all Hartford has to offer, I am happy with this new staple in the historic Colt complex. Thomas Hooker beer is always a solid choice. The beer was reasonably priced and they had a good variety on tap when we were there. They don't serve food on premises but you can order from a nearby place and they have the menus available. While it was a nice place to hang out and could accommodate many groups on the outside patio area, it was really missing any sort of originality or anything to make it stand out, aside from the beer. They kind of leaned into the fact that they are located at the historic colt complex, but I could use more-- decor, vibe, ambiance. I'm not sure, but it is definitely missing something. read more
My boyfriend and I shared two beer flights and got to try almost everything they had on tap. I don't think there was a single beer we didn't like, even for styles I typically wouldn't go for. We also got the pretzel bites, which were buttery and delicious. The location is a little bit unexpected, but I think also brings something great to the neighborhood. The brewery space is warm, service is friendly, and it looks like the patio would be nice for a warmer weather visit. read more
Loved living above the Colt location. Thomas hooker has a great bar here where you can get all their favorites on draft, or in cans and growlers to go. They partner with the local cafe to serve a full menu of snacks and small bites too. Probably one of the best patios out there during the summer, and don't worry if you're not a beer person- they have wine and spirits too! read more
Hooker brewery tap room is a great addition to Hartford and a nice addition to the Colt building. We attended on Sunday and it turned out a great spot to watch the Patriots win. Like most breweries they allow you to bring in outside food. But they also have a meat and cheese plate that we enjoyed. It was a really hot day so we sat inside ( Pats game) . But there is also a great outdoor area to enjoy their delicious beers. Now on to the beers. We sampled a bunch the Belma IPA is good not our favorite, had a strawberry and pineapple flavor. Just not our thing. The Blond is of course their most popular and a delicious golden type ale. Their seasonal Octoberfest was our favorite of the day by far. So good Definitely will be back and encourage people to stop by for a pint or two . Go Hartford!! read more

This is a quaint brewery located near the historic Colt Building in Hartford. The atmosphere is wonderful. They have tall tables and longer bar tables. In addition there is an outdoor patio with heated lamps and fire pits. The beer selection so great. There are a couple of IPAS, lagers etc. definitely looking forward to a visit during the summer when we can enjoy the patio read more
