Dr Toohey is better than great. Perfectionist is one of his amazing trait. He corrected a HORRIBLE augmentation done by a surgeon in the OC. Now my breasts are natural looking. I get asked all the time if they are natural because they are so perfect. He implemented a scar treatment that literally faded my scars from the horrible job done by the previous surgeon. I recently had my implants swapped out with Dr. Toohey. I elected to do it under local anesthesia because I am a Type 1 Diabetic. It was a quick and easy process, we chatted the entire time. I was able to walk out of there and go enjoy a cup of coffee with my sister. I did decide to take a valium prior, so I did have to get a ride home. I only had to take 1 Tylenol the next day, but had hardly ANY pain. I am now at the point where I am doing my scar treatment [these is barely any visible scarring]. This is my 4th augmentation, my implants were close to being 20 years old, so it was time! I elected to go smaller, and could not be more pleased with the results. Please excuse the name, I don't want to identify myself. I was referred here by another doctor who I really trust. I did take the time to consult with several doctors and decided on Dr. Toohey for a few independent reasons. I was worried about pain first and foremost, which he was able to mitigate a lot during the surgery which made recovery seem a lot easier right after and for several days afterward. my pain was never close to a 10, and recovery went smoothly. secondly, he was thorough with his consult - i was previously a plastic surgery novice so it was pretty important to me to be able to spend the time to talk this through since it's a huge decision. Third, his practice itself was something I could take seriously and didn't seem like a fashion house- it seems there's a lot of plastic surgeons that market themselves to look and feel like a fashion boutique or like, Sephora for some reason (something I noticed in my research), and this feels a bit more like a genuine medical practice, which made me feel a lot safer to be on the receiving end of a serious medical procedure, if that makes any sense. I could take this medical practice seriously the way it presents itself, which was important to me. At any rate, Dr. Toohey has been doing this for something like 25-30 years and it definitely shows- I'm actually really impressed with his work and my results, it looks really great already and I'm about 6 weeks into healing still. Liz is super helpful, reassuring and really kind, and they really go out of their way to help you out. Anyone considering this Dr should check his background. It's been over 20 years and I still deal with the scars, disfigured legs/buttocks and I had to have 9 surgeries to repair what he did. Medical records were changed etc.. look into the years from 1998 to present.. just sayin. Be careful..I won't go into more but it has dramatically affected my life to this day. Any surgeon should be researched for board certifications in Plastic and reconstructive not hand surgery. Do your homework!! read more

I visited Dr. Toohey a year ago in regards to textured breast implants that I received in early 2018. ***Dr. Toohey did not place those implants in me, another doctor did*** I went in looking for info because I was scared as my implants were recalled in the UK and cases of them causing cancer have been published (they have since been recalled in the US). Dr. Toohey is a class act. He was professional, educational, honest, and just an overall good person. He talked to me for roughly an hour providing me info, stories and experiences he's had with others in my situation. Iv never been treated so kindly by a doctor, ever. I would not recommend this place at all! You are not guarantee the implants you request and pay for. Two weeks before surgery I request to see the implants I order, on surgery day again. They told me that he would show them to me on surgery room. On surgery room again I request to see my implants..... a few seconds later I woke up in recovery room. They completely ignored me. I got a breast lift with implants, my Ariola was not properly cut with the special tool that Surgeons use to cut and make that perfect round circle in the areola, then placed it properly in the center of your breast. My areola ended up not being the same shape one is a wobbly circle, the other one is missing areola parts. It does not look like a circle plus one is bigger than the other one, The incision is terrible, My nipples are not properly place. I have cyst growing on my nipples, I got one remove and waiting to remove 2 more. I am completely unsatisfied, I am tired of driving back-and-forth just to hear the Dr. say..... give it some time !! This last visit he walked out of the room without saying anything!! Very unprofessional!!! read more

So I heard this place was the shit so I ended up coming to toohey and he ended up doing a breast augmentation he said he could place 800cc into my chest even tho I have no boobs whatsoever he said it wouldn't be a problem when it came down to it I ended up getting 650cc .. I started getting extreme back pain to the point where I was crying and could hardly do anything . He didn't take me seriously I ended up going to the hospital and they gave me morphine for back pain... the receptionist convinced me to the lip fillers with them cuz I was gonna go to California cosmetics but went with them they charged me 650 for lip filler and completely jacked up my beautiful lips I was left with bumps and lumps ... it was the worst decision I could've made when I asked them they said they could dissolve it but they had never before ... OK I'm never going to get a procedure done when you tell me it's never been performed ... not to mention my follow ups for six months was constantly re scheduled to the point where I'm over it ... they called me three times to re schedule ... this place only Cares about your money they don't care about you ... don't ever do fillers here ... this isn't even half the story I just am so over this place read more

I have to say that I should've done a review a long time ago. I don't plan on going back to getting things fixed but had to share. I've had 2 procedures and neither one I'm happy with. Scars and things that didn't heal well at all. Dr. Toohey did offer to fix them for free, but I'm not going back under anesthesia. Another reason why I won't go back is his staff. They're awful and condescending, especially the young blond tall girl. Can't remember her name. Starts with a D. Her mom used to work there too but they let her go. They really have no bed aide manner at all, even Toohey. He says he is an expert and known for is "art" but looking at my botched work, you'd think the complete opposite. I first came to Dr. Toohey in 1999. At that time I was a 51 recently widowed lady & decided to have a Breast Lift Although, I was slender & very athletic, I hated my droopy breasts! I was very happy with my results! Then, a few years later 1/2004, I had a facelift, endoscopic brow lift & Blepharoplasty. Again, the results were amazing & natural looking. Only a few people asked me if I had work done...most people said that I looked so refreshed & rested & of course younger. People are always amazed when I told them my age! Two years ago, I did not want to travel as far, so a friend, whose daughter is a RN, did a lot of research...recommended a Plastic Surgeon closer to my home. That was a big mistake, I was not happy with his work at all... you could hardly tell a difference & it left my face with a fat looking bulge & I still had jaws. My granddaughter even asked me if I had a tumor on my cheek! I am now 70 & I recently went back to Dr. Toohey to see if he could correct my face & do the lift correctly. He said this was buccal fat & he felt that he could remove it, lift the face correctly & that I would be happy with the results! I know what an amazing Surgeon he is & a perfectionist. I am very confident that I will get my desired results. I feel that Dr. Toohey really cares about his patients & will do his utmost to get the best results possible & that my face will look natural... only a few years younger! If you remodel your house, buy a new car, have all the jewelry & monetary things...Why not remodel yourself? It was a big surgery and I went on consultations with about 7 Doctors before I chose Dr Toohey. He stood out by a landslide from the rest and I knew he was the right surgeon for me. His prices are slightly higher than some of the other Doctors I met with but his portfolio of work was MUCH better. Be careful when choosing a Dr and make sure you look through their picture books of work they have done. 5 starts isn't enough for doctor Toohey! I went to over 20 consultations with doctors from all over Southern California and none made me as at ease or confident in the doctor as he did. I had my breast augmentation 10 years and 1 kid ago and still have amazing results. Dr Toohey is a perfectionist that takes great pride in his work. He even turned me down when I went back a year later trying to go bigger (I was only 19 and very immature but now am so glad he told me no- that he would not alter an already perfect outcome- and he was so right!) I am now nearing 30 and looking to get my implants switched out for a different type of implant in the next year or so. Just had my saline breast implants replaced last Friday with silicone gel implants after 12 years and OMG .. Could not be HAPPIER! Today it is less than one week later and I cannot believe how easy this was to recuperate from!! The day of ,I could not believe how painless it was... Second day was a little tender ,third day as well.. After that every day has gotten better and better and I have full range of motion like before. Of course I am still trying to not overexert myself so I can heal up 100%!.. And The only medication I have taken this whole time was Tylenol over-the-counter!! Christine and Devyn run the front office and are very kind, personable and very professional. The day before my procedure Christine called to go over directions for the next day which was very nice and listened to me answering every question I had very patiently. Dr. Scott, my anesthesiologist was such a pleasure.. Great personality and took amazing care of me!! I didn't even feel when he put my IV In and was very comfortable and relaxed the whole time! Stephanie, my nurse was very sweet and super attentive and she too, took such wonderful care of me and has a GREAT personality. Dr Toohey, is such an amazing doctor and as far as I am concerned, artist, that makes you feel extremely comfortable from the first consultation, then to the pre-operative exam all the way to "THE DAY" My Saline implants were 380cc.. (Compared to the new silicone gel they look like pancakes) We then discussed the possibilities of going up to 590 cc or 650 cc??? I was honestly concerned and was trying to chicken out and go with the 590s but trusted him and he ended up going with 650!! I AM SO THANKFUL HE DID!! I was before procedure a 34DDD... Now I am a FULL 34DDD!!! I thought it was going to be a HUGE difference and was a little nervous but I honestly COULD NOT BE HAPPIER!
