I recently went to SSK for a breast augmentation consultation, and while I appreciated that they still accommodated me when I arrived a little late due to parking issues, my overall experience was disappointing. My consultation was with Valerie, and unfortunately her approach made me very uncomfortable. She took photos and said the doctor would review them and follow up, but I never heard from him. During the consultation she pointed out that my nipples were "pointing down" and compared me to a photo of an older woman with sagging breasts. Her tone came across as condescending, she spoke extremely fast, and she even used curse words. Afterward, she brought up my being late in a negative way and criticized my previous breast surgery. She also focused heavily on pricing, which felt rushed and more sales-driven than patient-centered. I want to be clear: this review is not meant to hurt Valerie. I actually think she means well, but could benefit from more professional training--especially around communication, sensitivity, and customer service for such a personal, vulnerable type of procedure. I'm baaaack & as an official patient! As much as I'd love to talk about my amazing experience with my lift & augmentation, this review is really for the events that unfolded afterwards. Unfortunately despite my best efforts in resting, I ruptured a blood vessel and ended up in the ER on Christmas Day. I was in absolutely excrutiating pain, embarrassingly screaming with no comfortable position to lay in while I was there for about 6 hours. Radiographs, an ultrasound & CT scan of my breasts led the doctor & surgeon to believe I had a "small bleed" and prescribed meds. My husband contacted Dr. Kelishadi who asked me to come in the following morning for a hematoma repair surgery right before he flew out to celebrate his birthday as he knew this bleed would not resolve on its own. My husband hadn't slept, so my best friend & her bf picked me up right after I was discharged from the ER at 11pm to drive from Oakland, CA to Newport Beach. From the beginning, my experience with Dr Kelishadi and his team was wonderful. Sherry, his amazing wife and pharmacist, Valerie who's on top of everything at the front desk handling your appointments and more, and Brianna who assists him in surgery. During my mommy makeover procedure, Dr Kelishadi noticed some breast tissue that he thought looked abnormal. To be sure he sent it to pathology to rule anything out. It turned out to be a very aggressive form of breast cancer that my previous mammogram and MRI didn't pick up. It was not the news he wanted to give me at my two week post op. I was shocked today the least. His bedside manner through this time was beyond comforting. He put me in touch with an oncology surgeon whom he knew very well, Dr Evelyn Kachikwu at PIH Whittier. Went in this last week and had the VIVACE ULTRA microneedling done on my face. I'm always looking for ways to improve my skin and boost collagen naturally! Dr Kelishadi's new fellow Dr. Nixon did the treatment on me. Valerie numbed me prior for 30 mins! Dr Nixon was very knowledgeable about the treatment, he communicated every step as he performed it so I knew what to expect. He took his time and ensured my treatment would have the best results! He went lighter on the edges of my face and deeper depths with the micro needles in the center of my face. Afterwards he cleaned my face and put on a nice cooling mask for 20mins which felt like a cold drink of water for my skin! Unfortunately the office lobby is located in a common area with other offices. I was waiting for my appointment across the lobby for a different doctor. The receptionist very loudly tried to book a mammogram for a patient giving their name and birthdate and plastic surgery info. HIPPA was not practiced. I'll try to make this short and sweet ... prior to moving from the East Coast to Orange County , I was on a search for the BEST board certified plastic surgeon that specializes in breast revisions and anything breast related , and with much research (because that's what I do) Do your research ladies , don't settle because someone is "cheap" or you found a Groupon for the love of God , avoid that!! This is your body , why the heck would you settle ? When I found Dr. Kelashadi , I inquired immediately! I loved his presence on social media , the reviews, and especially his work ! I set up an appointment via Zoom to get more information and truly just to meet him . I'm an excellent judge of character and found him and his staff absolutely amazing . He is caring, kind, smart, driven, professional and a perfectionist . He listened to my concerns, and made me feel safe . Later that month , I went in for my consultation in person . I was greeted by the most amazing staff! Kind, happy, and comforting. I filled out all of my health questionnaires , got into my robe and then my first set of pics were taken . Not once did I feel uncomfortable, not once . Then Dr. Kelashadi came in to assess me and we made the decision together based off of my desired outcome . He took into consideration my shape (I'm small and have an athletic build ) He knew not to just stuff my breasts like most surgeons do. On the day of the surgery, I wasn't nervous at all, if anything I was excited like a kid on Christmas morning! Everyone in the surgery center was beyond amazing . Dr. Kelashadi marked me and discussed with me one more time to assure me that we're on the same page and my goodness , that made me feel even safer! He wound up doing a full reconstruction (which we discussed may happen at the first visit) since I had my previous breast implants in for 10 years and my implants were incapsulated . I woke up from my surgery and was so happy as expected . He understood the assignment !! Thank you Dr. K! I am 10 months post op now and I am very please with my results. I came to Dr. K and his team in February 2024 for my surgery based off his reviews and Instagram where he shows a lot of his work. I loved everything he stands for and his work ethic he and his team have. Making my appointments was so easy and convenient with Valerie as well as if I had any quick questions she always had an answer or would give me a call back the same day if she needed to find something out. I went with a breast augmentation (520cc), breast lift with the mesh bra. One huge selling point I thought was fantastic was there in house, they provide you with all the necessary prescriptions/vitamins/gels with directions on paper and also explained by Sherry who is an angel of a person who also, answered any questions I had. Truly is a one stop shop. Dr K. explained the process in very great detail based off my body type. Every body type is different and he makes you feel so important and is very knowledgeable helping you understand the process of what you want. Day before surgery the anesthesiologist text me to ask if I had any questions for him, that was so comforting because the next day I got to put a face to the name for a couple minutes. Day of surgery prep was easy and the nurse made me feel comfortable until Dr. K came in and double checked everything and did his draw ups. After surgery the following days-week Dr. K text and called a couple times to check up on me which is unheard of, I really appreciated that. And at the time it was Super Bowl Sunday. He took time out of his day off to follow up and make sure his patient was ok. Kudos for that. Having the instructions page for the antibiotics really helped the first couple days too. I have had three follow up appointments since and every time I am greeted with smiles and open conversations on any questions I have.
