Absolutely delicious! Haven't been there in years but just as good, if not better, than I remember. I had a sushi appetizer which was made with precision and extremely fresh! For the entree i has the 10 oz Filet Mignon which I I asked for medium, it was a little more than medium but still very juicy and full of flavor. Would not return .The food was very good. Pork Oso buco polenta and broccoli rabe.. 2 glasses of Sav Blanc. Here's lies the problem . We made a reservation for 530 pm. The restaurant at that time was not crowded and I believe we got a terrible table. . It was s table for 2 but the other 2 person tables are I mean literally on top of each other and there's barely any room to get in to your seat . It was crazy . When we sat down the table next to us asked to change their seat . We didn't maybe should have but I have a problem when I make a reservation and you don't get a nice table but one of the worse ones. There were a lot of other tables. Just weird. Other couples came in and when they saw where they were going to be seated asked for a different table. Yes we could have done the same. I just think the restaurant should know better and maybe give a table like that to a walk in as opposed to someone who made a reservation. read more

Went there yesterday for the restaurant week specials , was pleasantly surprised first of all great atmosphere, the have a lot of specials throughout the week, live music on Thursday nights , appetizers were delicious, fresh meatball excellent, sushi appetizer super fresh , my wife had the salmon, I had the chicken, both were spectacular, desserts were good , I think should've had a better selection for desserts but other than that , place was great with a super friendly staff... will definitely go back with some friends... read more

I saw so many great reviews for this restaurant and have been passing by the place for years, that I finally decided to try it. I should have just kept passing by. Initial impression - the place gets crowded on a Friday night. The parking lot is ridiculously small and can't accommodate enough cars. Interior is dark and somewhat drab. The walls and lighting look old. It looks more like a pub place than a seafood/steakhouse as they promote it. The bathrooms are disgusting and dingy. They need updating and cleaning. I can only imagine what the kitchen looked like. Food - Crispy Pork and Scallion Dumplings were only crispy on the botton where they fried them. The seam of the dough was tough and had a dry texture as if they were sitting for a day or two....or three. They were served very quickly which leads me to believe they are not fresh and just sitting in the cooler waiting to be cooked. Bang Bang Shrimp, also served very quickly leading me to believe that it's all pre-made and just placed in a microwave to heat. The taste was similar to any takeout Chinese restaurant. Thom Thom Salad was good and had just enough dressing. The NY Strip was seasoned well, but overcooked. I asked for MR and it came medium. It's served with mashed potato and string beans. The beans looked like they were over cooked and wrinkled, the mashed potatoes were thrown onto the plate as if they were served at some sleazy commissary. There was definitely no thought given to presentation here. The potatoes were thick and pasty, NOT creamy. The NY strip looks and tastes no different than one you can order at your local diner. Filet Mignon with Lobster tail was no more impressive. The filet was ok in tenderness, not fatty and seasoned well. The lobster tail was not fresh and looks like the frozen ones you can by at Costco or BJ's wholesale club. The apple crisp is more like an apple soft because it too was microwaved. It was served too quickly to be heated properly and be considered fresh. The Service - Our waitress Jennifer for some reason was in a hurry. She tried rushing us to order appetizers and dinner on her schedule. She did the obligatory pass by to ask how everything was but had a real hard arrogant edge to her. The table that we were seated at was ridiculously small. It was a small square bistro table that isn't large enough for a full dinner for two. The table next to use was wobbling horribly and they kept seating people at that table and every time those guests complained and were moved. It took three seatings for the bus boy to finally come over to level out the table. The hostess even knew about the table but continued to seat people there. I'm sorry I decided to try this place. For the money they charge here, I feel very cheated from a good dining experience. I was probably better off going to my local diner. Went here tonight with my boyfriend for dinner. We ordered the sushi pizza to start, which was pretty tasty. We also ordered the sampler appetizer, which had dumplings, a crab cake, kung pao calamari, and a spicy shrimp with various dipping sauces. I thought the sampler appetizer was good, nothing special though so I was a little nervous about the entree I ordered which was the filet and lobster tail. My boyfriend ordered the Chilean sea bass. The entrees were very tasty. The steak was cooked as I ordered and the lobster tail was tasty. I tried some of the sea bass and it was really good. It was also served with a sweet potato risotto. The sea bass was so good that I will probably order that next time I eat here. For dessert we ordered "the chocolate bag" which was coconut, vanilla, chocolate ice cream with bruleed bananas in a chocolate crust. It was yummy! The service wasn't so great. We visit this place frequently during the week as it is a local restuarant that serves good food at a fair price. However we will not be visiting this place again. We were 2 of 5 people in the dining room and we asked the waiter to substitute something on the price fix menu offering to pay whatever upgrade price they thought would be fair. When the manager told us NO we decided to no longer go there. When we walk in we are recognized by most of the wait staff who greet us with a smile even the manager knows who we are but to be flatly rejected on such a slow night is something I just dont understand read more

We just returned from Mother's Day brunch - never again. Although what food I ate was good, the place was extremely overbooked and kept running out of food. The trays remained empty quite a while before they were refilled and by then the line wrapped through the dining area. There was one hostess who also had to set up our table when we arrived. This was the first seating, with reservations. Tables should have been ready. We had to hunt for someone to bring coffee and were never offered refills. i came here on a friday afternoon and was surprised; it was a bit before 5 pm and the restaurant was completely empty! nonetheless, we were seated right away and received a basket of buttery warm pita bread. the pita bread was delicious, my boyfriend and i ended up getting another basket. for my appetizer i got the beet, goat cheese and walnut salad drizzled with balsamic dressing. the presentation was tastefully done and it had a lot of flavor. for dinner my boyfriend and i both got a marinated skirt steak with sweet potatoes and string beans. the steak was cooked to perfection, very tender and easy to chew. the portion was a good size too, it was not one of those small slivers of steak that you get overcharged for. we were too full and couldn't order desert even if we wanted to. the drink list did not look too promising.. i took a star off due to the lack variety on their martini list. i couldn't really find any that appealed to me at first. after a long hard stare at the drink list i finally settled on a martini which was strong and delicious. overall, my boyfriend and i had a really nice time here. i took another star off because other than being seated quickly, the service was really slow, which normally i don't mind (i'm a pretty patient and understanding person) but we were literally the only 2 people in the restaurant. i thought was odd. despite that, the food was great and i would definitely go back again in the future for another date night. read more

This used to be the restaurant I would get so excited to go to. Their filet mignon is amazing, and so is their sushi. Especially love restaurant week that they have an amazing deal with filet mignon on their menu at no additional cost. My husband and I went for a night out for dinner the first night of restaurant week with a reservation. We were sat at our table in between one large party that was about to be on dessert, and another that was set for about 12 and no one had arrived yet. To make a very long story short - we were sitting at our table legitimately 15 minutes with no server greeting us. We got water and pita bread, but couldn't order drinks or food. I began to get annoyed as I would understand maybe 2-5 minutes, but fifteen!?!?! What was more aggravating was now the entire party of twelve was sat over that fifteen minutes and a server was already over to them taking their drinks. I got up to either get myself and husband our own drinks from the bar or to notify someone we had not been greeted yet and the server must have noticed me going over to most likely the manager. All of a sudden miraculously we were greeted! I asked how and why this large party who sat fifteen minutes after the two of us were having drink orders taken and our server Jennifer "thanked us for our patience" which I felt was borderline sarcastic which I didn't like. Once we got our drinks and apps it was good, but then the steaks came out both over cooked. We ate half of it with butter knives because we weren't given steak knives. Our plates were finished and we put in dessert. Check was brought over with a discount on top of the restaurant week which we appreciated but sadly the experience with the service was not great and I'm sad that I may not choose to come back here if given the option. I was here on Sunday, Nov 10, 2019 for end of Restaurant Week and the place was packed. I have the filet mignon and my wife and son had the Scottish Salmon and both dishes were out of this world. The salmon my wife had was the best salmon she has had from all the many restaurants we have tried that had this dish and it is done the best here! My sushi appetizer was excellent as well as my son's meatball and wife's autumn salad with pear, apple, candied walnuts and cranraisins and cider vinegarette dressing. And the dessert of mango sorbet and coconut ice cream was out of the world delish! I will be bringing my family back for encore family meals in the future. read more

Came here for restaurant week. For an appetizer, I had the kung pao calamari. It was an interesting dish, very creative (tasted very good) For my entree I had pork Osso bucco, it was amazing. Dessert I had the molten lava cake and it was delicious. I will definitely go back! read more

Our evening at Thom Thom is what would call the good, the bad and the average. First off is the good which was the Sushi. We ordered the Chef's Roll which was melt in your mouth good (I would go back just for the sushi). It was a bit pricey for what you received. The average was our meal. I ordered the seafood Paella and my wife ordered the Braised Pork. Both dishes were cooked well and the portion size was large but were just lacking something. I would have liked more of a balance of the seafood and chorizo along with more spice. For desert we got the Chocolate Bag which for $13.95 was way overpriced and average at best. Unfortunately the bad was the service. The waitress I felt was not terribly attentive towards us and the table next to us who came in after us received their meals well before us. It took 45 minutes from the time we ordered our meal to get our entrees. We will go back there but only for the sushi which looked and tasted fabulous. read more

The dips that came out with pita bread were good. Appetizer sampler for $27.95 is too small. Some sushi rolls are also small. Portions overall are not large. My tuna was fatty and sliced incorrectly...If the menu had said it was sliced, I would have asked for it to be whole. Steak was chewy. Cheddar mashed potatoes are simply a layer of shredded cheddar melted over potatoes. We will not be going back, too expensive and food quality not good. read more

We came to celebrate my son's graduation and had a very nice time. The service was very good but my food was just average. I had the T Bone steak medium well. Although it was flavorful it was more like well done. My mother had lobster tail and said it was too soft. My husband did enjoy his halibut very much. The atmosphere was fun and lively. Didn't acknowledge and apologize to us at all even after standing there for about 5 minutes. Sat us at the very end, in the corner like we're being punished even w so many available tables in the main dining room. The table and chair were weirdly arranged and crooked, too! Requested to be transferred to another table and hoped that things get better. NOPE. Asked the waitress to give us some table napkins and handed us cloth napkins, unfolded and looked like they've already been used! You'd think that maybe it's just the service that sucks but no..the food was HORRENDOUS. The dumplings appetizer were gross and the steaks we got are worse than Applebee's! This place used to be amazing before Covid. What a DISAPPOINTMENT! It must be under a different management now bc everything I liked before about this restaurant is GONE! So sad to be writing this review, as myself and my family have frequented Thom Thom for years - which is why we decided to go with them for my moms SURPRISE 60th birthday party. From the outset of the planning process, the manager, Leo was unhelpful and unresponsive. He did not listen to what we wanted at all. Upon entrance into the restaurant, Leo was nowhere to be found. He showed up once to let us know not to tape balloons on the wall. It is disheartening that we chose Thom Thom to host our party and felt like the special day was not appreciated by the manager. We let everyone in the place know it was a surprise party. When my mom walked in, the hostess asked her if she was there for the surprise party, ruining months and months of planning, and the surprise. Giving a two star rating only because of the great service from our waitress, Jennifer, who was absolutely phenomenal. Do not host a party here. Not hospitable and not helpful. I went with my mom and my aunt for Long Island 2015 restaurant week. The meal was delicious. I started off with their seasonal pumpkin, beet, goat cheese salad. It was dressed well and super delicious. My mom got the calamari and my aunt got the mozzarella meatballs. Out of those three, my salad was the best! For the entrees I got the paella which was disappointing. The rice had a very strange, cheap taste and I did not enjoy it as much as I had hoped. The portion was enormous and I ate 1/4 of it at the restaurant. My mom and aunt both got the fillet mignon and I had some! Of course, they were perfect... I should've ordered the steak! Although, their medium rare was a little on the rarer side, I didn't mind and I really enjoyed it. Next time, I'll have to get the steak for sure. The desserts were fabulous. The LAVA CAKE. Oh god the lava was to die for. It just oozed chocolate melty goodness. The coconut ice cream was so very very tasty. The apple tart was above average but who can resist a lava cake? Lastly id like to mention that the staff was a tad unprofessional. At the end of my meal, a bus boy or waiter (I'm not sure) asked me for my name and number. I politely told him my name but did not give him my phone number. He later looked me up on Facebook and friended me. This was while I was with my family and it made me feel incredible uncomfortable. Incredible, simply a great night. We started off the night with a few drinks in celebration of my brother and while toasting the owner came by asking about the occasion, my brother leaving for bootcamp as MP, the owner offered a complimentary appetizer which we gladly accepted. The Shrimp appetizer was fantastic. I ordered the steak, it was so large I was surprised in myself that I actually finished it, my brother had the Paella, which he loved and complimented it's presentation. I have been here many times, the Sushi is perfect, steak is great. The staff are very polite and accommodating. I have never had a bad meal here and I have been through most of the menu. The Sushi chef is outstanding!!!! I highly recommend this place and have never had a problem, have eaten all days of the week and times of the day and found the food to be consistant. The bar does well but all times the people in the restaurant and bar side are very courteous and friendly (not a wild bar). The prices are very reasonable, especially for such great Sushi. I went to thom thom for an early dinner Saturday night and had no problem getting a nice spacious booth for 2 as the dining room was fairly empty at 5. The food was good, the service was good and overall we were happy and would come back. We shared an appetizer platter with 4 items. It was bang bang shrimp (star of the app), dumplings (good but I would not get this on its own), crab cake (excellent- really moist on the inside with a crunchy panko breading) and calamari in a peanut sauce (the sauce was mixed in rather than on the side so it was kinda limp, but the chopped peanuts on top were good). For dinner I had a petite filet steak and it was cooked perfect and cut like butter. Ordered the grilled shrimp add on and that was nice too. Big shrimp, which you don't see often. I got a side of mushroom risotto which I was disappointed in because it was very cheesy which then made it salty. I wanted to taste the earthiness of the mushrooms in it more. My husband had the paella and thought that dish was just ok. When I asked him why just ok he said the calamari was like the appetizer calamari- chewy and limp. You also only got 4 mussels. We didn't have dessert. For drinks the Hurricane was excellent. The mango martini was like drinking mango purée. A little too thick for my taste. We will go back again. I went here with my boyfriend for their NYE prix fixe. By the end of our night, all we could do was complain: - The service was actually TERRIBLE. - We were there for almost three hours. We waited and waited and waited. Plus, the waitstaff was incredibly rude. While we were there, the restaurant was not terribly busy or packed, but there was a lot of noise (typical drunken NYE, so I'll let it slide). - We sat for 45 minutes without water; we asked for bread four times. They brought the bread with our dessert. awful. - After waiting over an hour, our main course was brought to our table but were the wrong dishes. We waited another forty minutes. - We were seated in the back of the restaurant in a crowded, closed off section of the restaurant. I stared at a poorly painted wall with several holes and Spackle falling off the walls for nearly three hours. Not good. However, The food was really good. New Years Eve at Thom Thom was horrible. No organization at the front, overwhelmed bartenders and no table service for what we paid. There seemed to be more kids under 13 than adults. Both included sides, and everything was delicious. Chicken had crisp skin outside and juicy inside. Steak tasted like it was grilled in plum sauce marinade, like duck breast. That the music wasn't good, didn't help (this may be a matter of opinion, but I really don't think the musicians were that good, no matter what they were playing). I wanted to order a beer, but the "tap machine" was out - all taps were down. Convenient, as bottled beer sells at a higher rate. So I ordered a beer, and had to remind my waitress to get it ... again, the ladies night excuse (barkeep too busy to grab a bottle and a glass?) Not starting off well here. Bread came, and good thing, as it was delicious - a very nice pita bread with a few spreads for it (I'm not sure I would call it "naan", though). But like I said - good thing we had bread, b/c the kitchen took an HOUR to get the entrees out. The food was pretty good, not amazing. By now, my patience was running thin, so I expressed to our waitress that the food was fine, but not for nothing, it took forever to come out. She responded with a half-hearted apology, with the same indifference that I was seeing from most of the staff. Sort of like a "come back or don't come back, makes no difference to us" kind of attitude. I was reminded of Restaurant Impossible and the wait staff attitudes usually seen on that show ... To her credit, our waitress did send over the manager, who apologized effusively, and I believed her. She said her kitchen was slow, they had a big party, and that the live music was a constant battle. The thing is, I believed her, and felt like she really was sorry we weren't having a good time. She comped a dessert and gave us a Creme Brulee on the house, but that wasn't the point - she demonstrated to me that she wasn't just trying to shut me up. I have been to this restaurant several times and the food is not the problem. Always enjoy it from start to finish but the service is what makes it hard to go back. The last three times we have been there we have had horrible service. The training of staff shows and reflects the type of service given to your customers. Here are a couple tips: If given bread and assorted spreads at the beginning of your meal it should not be on the cluttered table of empty glasses and plates at the end of your meal. Generally most people would like a full drink before the start of their dinner. If you order coffee with dessert it should be brought before the dessert arrives to the table. Walking in at 7:30 on a Friday night you immediately notice that this place is a local hotspot. I was seated with my girlfriend at a table by the bar area, which was noisy but manageable. Overall the service was very good, if anything a tad slow but most likely just due to being busy. The Thom Thom Salad has a great dressing that reminded me of a milder ginger dressing that you would get at a traditional sushi restaurant. I enjoyed it very much. We ordered the sushi entree which allows you to choose one special roll and one classic roll. Each category has a decent amount of options to choose from. Both the Crazy Salmon and Rainbow rolls were very good. The Crazy Salmon roll was the perfect amount of spicy for my liking! We also ordered the marinated skirt steak entree. The flavor was very good but very strong, it depends on your preference. Overall, I would definitely go back. I am curious to try many of the small plates which everyone seems to rave about. So we ordered the Goat cheese flat bread pizza with mushrooms and onions. It was on the same pita they bring to the table when you sit. It was probably 6" in diameter. It was piled high with onions and mushrooms then topped with the goat cheese. It was awful. Barely warm. We brought the stuff home and I gave it to someone at work that never says no to food.
