They host awesome workshops like this delightful creative hand lettering class.

Lovely lovely shop perfect for gifting for a loved one (or buying yourself a little treat, as I am inclined to do). They carry really lovely and unique jewelry, papery goods like cards and journals, home decor like candles and throw pillows, plus textiles, artwork, techy stuff (cool phone cases), and even lovely goodies for kids and babies. The store itself is decorated so so wonderfully (that library wallpaper behind the cash register is so awesome) and the owner, Diana, is as sweet and helpful as can be. She's got a great eye so the stock is fantastic and she's incredibly helpful when picking out a gift or the like. Extra bonus? They hold workshops here as well! I recently took the Creative Hand Lettering course hosted by Kristen from Worthwhile Paper. Other great classes they've offered include flower crowns, living (think succulent) jewelry, terrarium building, and cocktail mixing classes. All hosted by really incredible local businesses like the florists Passionflower and Two James Spirits. A really fantastic store not just providing a great shopping exprerience but an outstanding outlet for learning as well!

In the heart of Kerrytown (parking across the street)

Thistle and Bess is a fantastic addition to Kerrytowns' appeal. Apparently, the name of the store comes from the owner's cultural background ('thistle' for the Scottish side and 'bess' for the English). Keeping it quaint and cute, it's a place that both kids and grownups can enjoy (so bring the whole family!). For the youngsters, you can find some sought after books like, 'Flora and the Flamingo'. There are also lots of little trinkets and tchotchkes that are sort of hard to resist...., For adults, there are vintage charms which are so rare that chances are, you haven't seen anything like it. My favorite are the rare book locket necklaces with real words and photos. Popularized in the 1950s, these lockets are difficult to find now so it's a treat to see them in such good condition. There is paid parking across the street but it's free of charge on Sundays.

Cute and unique stuff, well-curated. All the candles actually smell really good; there's a cute shop dog. A joy to look around in.

So I went back in and Diana happily exchanged it and helped me find my perfect ring!

Now they've expanded in there and they've filled the space with even more beautifully curated goodies, new and "found." There's a bit of everything in here, perfect for finding a gift for a friend, family, or a partner, or a little goodie for yourself. They've got beautiful art prints from independent artists, handmade ceramics, plus stationery, a bangin' candle section, lovely housewares and textiles like throws, pillows, and tea towels, plus jewelry, the list goes on and on. Plus when you shop here you're really shopping small, because most of what they carry falls into that category. If you go to their website you can take a look at a list of the artists they carry in store, and I love recognizing names of friends and people I admire in their respective fields. It's a delight digging through all their offerings and I highly recommend you get there soon to do it yourself!

Then, after hitting up the 2nd floor, I spied plants and headed down the stairs. Loving that we found "Found." I walked out with a gift and a little something for myself, but definitely had to stop myself from getting more. They had a lovely selection of watercolor supplies, notebooks, stickers, art, unique science-y things, and so much more. Prices were pretty average, but they had some awesome sale stuff from the recent holiday. The Staff were around and being helpful. The lady told me a story about the art piece I purchased, which I appreciated. This store is probably my favorite stop from all of Kerrytown!

Best. Esoteric. Bookstore. Ever! I vow to never visit Ann Arbor without coming to this bookstore…read more It's not huge, but it has awesome sections like psychology, religion, spirituality, magic, healing, even nutrition. It approaches life from a holistic, metaphysical but still grounded approach. It also has some oils, candles, and cool decorations like ankhs and things you can hang in your home for protection, like the evil eye, and what not. Upstairs I think they have tarot readings or something along those lines, I've only been up there to use the restroom. They also have a small discount section, oh and a little bit of jewelry! At least some of it is handmade locally. I find the staff to be very kind too. Give it a try!
