Food was good, we especially liked the fries that came with the chicken sandwich. A particular shout to the guy who served us, the self-proclaimed "bar wench" named Chase. Our group of seven was seated right away thanks to our reservation, but the wait for both drinks and food was on the longer side. Our server apologized multiple times, which we appreciated, and we passed the time playing phone games with the kids to keep them busy. The pierogies were a highlight, with a nicely crispy exterior and a creamy filling, and the shoestring fries came out salty and crunchy. My chicken cordon bleu sandwich, though, didn't really live up to the name, and the side salad was pretty plain with just a basic vinaigrette. My wife's grilled cheese with fried chicken strips also seemed a bit undercooked, and the chicken had a slightly rubbery texture. Overall it wasn't our best dining experience, but the atmosphere inside is very nice and the staff themselves are kind.

We did stop at The Marina to eat but stood at the host desk waiting for someone to greet us for 10 minutes and we just kept being ignored by servers walking thru so we decided to walk out of The Marina and keep going. (Note to self, make Mondays in Vermont for driving, or nature, & less to-do activities). At Bar 580 a really friendly bartender/server made for a very welcoming experience. Sorry I didn't catch his name. The menu had a lot of burgers and sandwiches and salads. We had a tasty Ruben sandwich, great fries and a bowl of 580 Mac n cheese (with bits of diced jalapeño pepper and creamy local Grafton cheddar cheese! This was great tasting casual dining. For fun we enjoyed playing billiards on the 2 smaller tables up front. The sun-streaming & huge outdoor space on the back patio looked inviting, facing the woods and a fire pit. (but I request better seating other than only the picnic tables please) Thanks again to the Monday afternoon bartender for the friendly Vermont hospitality! Oh and make sure to visit the shop across the way for fun souvenir items before heading home.

Now the food: I chose the tuna tartare for an appetizer. It was just "okay" but not nearly as good as the main Peter haven's restaurant. They had three options for oysters on the half shell. I opted for the larger ones which came from Damariscotta Maine. They were not optimum for the $3.00 each price point. There was not much body to them. I understand that sometimes happens. But, the brine was very watery and very very bitter. Even lemon did not mask the bitterness. I'm not sure I will go back there.

If you think that you will be getting regular old bar/pub food, you will be surprised. The magic is in the seasonal specials offerings. We ordered a caprese salad made from locally grown tomatoes and couldn't believe our tastebuds. The mushroom toast was so good that my teen let my try a tiny bite and then devoured the entire rest of it. The pasta special with pork ragu was super traditional tasting and came with a ricotta topping and crispy breadcrumbs. They also have pub items like mozzarella sticks and burgers, but even the Boozer burger was excellent. The service was also excellent. Maggie was knowledgeable about the menu and based on her excited attitude about the specials, we ordered almost one of each. For dessert we had the beignets. I have had my share of beignets and these were the most crispy, light, fluffy, airy and delicious beignets I have ever had in my 53 years of living. The ambiance is tavern-like. The booths are very upright. Not the most comfy, but didn't affect my rating.
