Medium Wings
Sydney M.

This is a great bar if you are looking to watch sports. They have a big bar and seating area with a bunch of TVs. The staff is super accommodating with what games people want to watch. They have darts as well. I got some medium wings, and for a sports bar they are pretty good. They were crispy but could have used a little more sauce. I will definitely keep on coming for more games!

The classic.

This was our first stop on a Buffalo pub crawl, and it did not disappoint. They had just opened on a rainy afternoon, and the bartenders could not have been friendlier. We had a few drinks and promised to come back to try the food at the end of our expedition. We returned that night, and the place was hopping. We were recruited to play trivia (came in 4th!), watched hoops & hockey playoffs, and had a blast. The wings were better than average, and the burgers solid. The vibe of the place is fantastic, a neighborhood sports bar with just a hint of dive to it. Great service, good food, fun setting: what more can you want? Thanks for an enjoyable evening in Buffalo, guys.

a basket of buffalo wings and carrots

Ehh, made the mistake and did not get their quesadilla. From photos to seeing it live coming out of the kitchen that seems to be the way to go here. I ordered the wings- thinking it's Buffalo, it's a bar, you can't go wrong. But, they went wrong, tasted like rotisserie chicken, no crisp and I ordered hot and I'm pretty sure they just sprinkled Franks hot sauce on top. Went on trivia night, fun atmosphere, I guess. Drink prices are fine. With that being said, I WOULD go back to hang out- so take that as you may.

Beef On Weck Sandwich

Great sports bar with good food and good company. Live right down the street from here and love coming here on the weekend for an affordable bite and drink. Awesome staff, drink specials, and good prices on food! Usually get the beef on weck which is great food to price ratio. Perfect, relaxed environment to go after work for a drink and a beer or on a weekend to watch some sports.

Cool outer door

I came here two nights ago after a race with a close friend. The drink I had was okay. The nachos were on a small plate. For the price, you would think that you'd get more of a heaping serving. The outside door was neat and they had nice decor but neither bartender was too interested in helping us right away or excited about taking our order. The bar is large and takes up the whole place which is kind of cool. It's very dimly lit though. If I gave them another chance, hopefully I'd get friendlier service.

Turkey club with side salad
Ashley K.

Once upon a time, they had the best turkey club I've ever eaten. Then, it sadly went off the menu. Well, it's baaaack. I was really craving a good club on Friday and we were trying to avoid they typical restaurant scene because it's Lent and we wanted to stay away from the fish fry crowd. I happened to check the Thirsty Buffalo menu online and saw the club was there once again. We were on our way! We arrived around 8 and the place was pretty busy. There were a couple other tables ordering food. I have to give the waitress props. I think she was serving the entire floor, but was extremely pleasant and responsive to everything we asked. My club was amazing. My boyfriend had the philly cheese steak and my friend had the chicken bacon ranch wrap. Both were deemed delicious. At $10/sandwich and chips included, it is a great price for the quantity of food you receive. We also ordered pizza logs. I do think these are overpriced ($8 for 4). They were good though. I deducted a star because my boyfriend and I both asked for mayo on the side of our sandwiches (we like to split and I don't like mayo) and the kitchen forgot and put it on both sandwiches. My boyfriend didn't care and kept his sandwich, but I asked for new bread. My sandwich took a few more minutes to come out and by that time, everyone else was almost done eating.

Fun. The menu is pretty big for a bar, a mix of regular bar food and a bunch of other options. Our waitress was really friendly and told me the French onion soup is one of their popular items, so that got me excited. It came out fast and it was pretty good. The croutons were honestly my favorite part, super seasoned and actually had flavor. This was only my second time having French onion soup though and I'm still on the fence... it felt like it was missing something, or maybe I just don't get the hype yet lol My friend got the chicken broccoli alfredo and I got the cajun chicken linguine. The portions are HUGE, like you're definitely not leaving hungry. She said hers didn't have much flavor even after adding salt and pepper and was already planning how she was going to fix it at home. My chicken was a little burnt so it was dry and kind of messed with the flavor, but the pasta itself was good. I loved that they added a little bread to soak up the sauce. The huge portions made up for the bland flavors. Not even gonna lie, a few bites in my stomach said "absolutely not" which is no fault of theirs, 100% on me for going all in on dairy, so my friend ended up taking both meals home. Overall I'd recommend it if you like a bar vibe, big portions, and solid food. 8.3/10

For me, I like my wings crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, well cooked. The wings I had here were excellent. But all the flavor was in the sauce, whereas some people like dry rubs or smoked wings. The restaurant is old and and is not modern in any way. The lighting is a little on the dark side. The service was OK, not fantastic. Would go again, and they deserve 4 stars.

Colter Bay - Double smash burger. Didn't taste at all like fresh meat. Wouldn't recommend. Tiny fries. Not good.

We were in a bind in late 2021 when my mom came to visit and we tried again. I had left a three star review after that, but eventually felt guilty and removed it because they're in our neighborhood. Since it's been several years we decided to try again. Their Instagram post advertised a smash burger and fish sandwich specials. Right up our alley! We called up and ordered takeout. The young woman on the phone was very pleasant. The pickup experience was fine...the food? Not so good and definitely not worth $18 for each meal. The double cheeseburger patties had a spongy texture and didn't seem like a smash burger. I'm pretty sure they're pre-formed frozen pucks...or at the very least they taste like it. The fish filet sandwich was crispy and initially looked delicious, but the actual fish inside ended up being soooo mushy...very unpleasant. I had to throw it out after two bites, the texture of the fish was so off-putting. The french fries that came with both sandwiches were generous and tasted fine enough, but they were all such short pieces. I mean, I want at least a few full sized fries, yah know? This disappointing experience confirms our opinion of Colter Bay...for the fourth time. We won't be trying again for a few years.

God bless her, as I was so dehydrated I was starting to feel like a raisin. The atmosphere here is pub-style. We felt perfectly comfortable eating there as a family. Obviously I had to try a local specialty, and I was not disappointed! The Beef on Weck was fantastic. Something about the combination of flavors just works. Plus the beef was tender... not an ounce of tough bits or gristle. And the au jus was so flavorful! Big Daddy actually drank some of it straight like a beverage. The poutine was fantastic! The wings were hot and juicy. The other sandwiches we ordered (chicken mushroom swiss and prime rib) were also top tier. The only oddity was that the salad was arugula. Our server warned us of it so we were prepared, but it still seemed odd. Overall, this was an excellent meal! Would definitely visit again!

It came with one side so we chose the macaroni salad, very good and added a Caesar salad. Now for the best part of any meal ...dessert! We chose the peanut butter cookie sundae. They were good. Last time we came we weee highly disappointed but today they hit a solid triple. They were good and saucey, lots of celery and some blue cheese. We also got a side salad which was slightly lacking. Small for the price. Filled with croutons, cheese and a few slivers of tomatoes. Kinda disappointing for the price in all honesty. Server was nice. Very attentive. Atmosphere is fun and overall it's definitely a place to stop for the history. We will come back another time.

Our waitress was wonderful. I was debating between a couple items on the menu and opted for a salad. I ordered the Beet & Burrata salad ... um lol well if you would call it that. Two of us ordered this and we both were surprised when it came out to say the least. Basically a couple pieces of lettuce on top of chopped beets under a spicy-ish hollandaise type dressing over burrata. Or I'm assuming the dressing was what was a tad spicy. However I couldn't figure it out lol. There were a couple tiny smoked peach pieces on the side...just too smoky for my taste. Would have preferred just a fresh grilled peach. Also added a side of chicken to toss on my "salad" thinking it had a whole bed of lettuce, however could have avoided ordering that had I seen a picture of this salad beforehand - so I threw that in for you all in case you're on the fence of what to order. It was good if you like beets, but not really filling since the portion was pretty small. Loved the presentation though, gotta give them that. I also had the Oz-molitan... cosmo with blood orange ...delicious! If you like fruity drinks get it!! I tried my friends' fresh cut regular fries, the truffle fries, and also some of the pepperoni flatbread (I forget exactly what it was called, apologies) but all of those were to die for! I almost wished I had ordered those myself haha. Oh well, next time! Not a huge fan of coming downtown (only downside for me but the hubby dropped me off lol) but I would definitely come back again!

The inside was super cute. It is on main street with the train track so there is basically no parking in the vicinity so it's a cold walk during winter. We ordered Kugel Latke for an appetizer. It was fine, it tasted like uncrisp tater tots. If there was a sauce of sorts to dip it in, it would have been better besides just potato. For mains we shared two half pizzas the Fig& Pig and the Pepperoni + Honey. They were both fine, they were half sized but still didn't seem like a lot. The person I was with thought it was too much fig, but I had no problem so that is preference. Though the pork belly was mainly fat. The people with us weren't fans of their food either. They also added Truffle fries and were told it would be extra which they agreed to, but it was an additional $9 not jut 2 or 3. For the service, we assumed it was all due to the massive party but it wasn't that great. We were right in front of the bartender and our water was refilled once the entire time we were there. We also didn't get silverware and when we asked for napkins we got a single paper one. We were also at the end of the bar which is where the severs would stand or get the food which was directly next to us which was a bit annoying due to the proximity, they were as close as sitting next to us at a table. No one checked on us either thoughtout our time. Overall, the food was fine, nothing amazing. I'm assuming they get a lot of Shea's traffic which is fine if you want a drink with a snack. I would not come here for an actual meal as it is a limited menu and you don't get a lot. The service wasn't great, but we're going with it was due to the large party. None of us will be returning. It was super cute with the lights though.
