    Thai Iced Tea
    Jaclyn C.

Talk about authentic! This place was a fantastic new find to my work area as a great option for a table for one when the craving of Thai food comes along. I walked over here yesterday on my lunch hour and joined the other two tables of solo diners for a taste of pad Thai and that sweet Thai iced tea. The place although small and mainly meant for takeout, was very cozy and inviting. The host was so friendly, hospitable and sweet, making sure to decide on my lunch wisely with all their offerings. For $11.90, I did their lunch special of Thai dumplings to start (2 pieces) and a beef pad Thai ($3 extra for the beef). The smells coming from the kitchen really kicked my tastebuds into overdrive and I'm just salivating recalling this meal. The Thai dumplings, small yet mighty in flavor, were just so damn good! The freshly chopped scallions on top and the depth of savoriness from within really blew my mind. Excellent starter! The beef in my pad Thai was tender and delicate. The noodles were all coated well and evenly with the signature peanut sauce and the plating was generous! My host jokingly asked if I had room for dessert and I just didn't. I was so full and happy, I wanted the tastes to linger in my mouth a little longer. I already plan to order ahead for Valentine's Day to bring this home to my husband an hour away because we can't get amazing Thai food like this in south Brooklyn. This is a local hotspot and they know it. Can't wait to come back!

hot eve.. we asked if AC, waitress said yes, we entered and sat at a cozy table, ordered thai iced - they were served in metal cups -- definitely on sweet side, yummy & cold.. green curry delivered with authentic spice, veggies n' chicken cut n' cooked nice.. didn't specify spice level - was on stronger side but just right not too intense.. spunky Asian pop played on speakers above.. people flowed in and out for pick-ups.. chef energetically stirred up the food closeby on other side of mirrored counter, a cornucopia of sounds n' scents bill was ok in high twenties

Panang Curry Lunch Special with Tofu

The $11.90 lunch special here might be the best bang for buck in Williamsburg. My partner and I split a golden fritter / eggplant basil lunch special and a golden tofu / panang curry lunch special and we left absolutely stuffed with a little panang curry left over for an afternoon snack. The golden fritter was a standout dish for me. It's a deep fried chicken and shrimp dumpling that's glazed with a sweet sauce. The crispy tofu was also good, but I probably wouldn't order this again because the golden fritter is just so much better. I thought the eggplant basil was a little salty, but the rest of the flavors were on point and I barely noticed the saltiness when I ate it with rice. We mopped up every last drop of the garlicky sauce with the rice we had left over. The panang curry had a sweetness to it that we both really appreciated. Panang curry is one of our Thai food staples and this version somehow felt like a unique take on the dish.

I love Thip Osha because their menu goes beyond the typical American Thai offerings. Their Roasted Duck Noodle Soup comes in a cinnamon broth! Delicious! Also tried Sai Ua (spicy Thai pork sausage) and it did not disappoint. Tonight I enjoyed Tom Yum soup and crispy duck with yellow curry rice. So good!

    Pad See Ew Lunch Special
    Maggie T.

I placed a delivery order for the pad see ew lunch special which came with an appetizer and salad along with my entree. It was not the best pad see ew I've ever had, but it was still tasty and the amount of food you get for the price of the lunch special is pretty unbeatable. As for sides, I loved the salad dressing and found it super refreshing. My spring rolls were a little on the soggy side when they arrived, but no big deal. Overall, this place is a solid option for cheap Thai takeout. Get the lunch special!

I feel so strongly about this: if you're into Thai food and are ever in the area, you HAVE to try this spot. Reasonable prices for what might be some of the most delicious and flavorful food I've ever had -- I went here with a friend once because we were in the area and the place we planned to eat at was closed.... Since then it's become a go-to spot for both of us because we were absolutely FLOORED that night!! There are only 3 small tables in the restaurant and no reservations as far as I know so you might have to wait if you want to eat in, but it's worth the wait. Service is also pretty fast once you get your order in. And the Green Curry is literally life-changing. Also mango sticky rice isn't on the menu but it's great so ask for it if you want it :)

This small place has like 4 tables and prob no bathroom, but it's mostly a takeout place. I dine in and had good service so no problem there. The food was amazing. A Ma Zing Try the roasted duck noodle soup. Life changing

Small little restaurant with some indoor and outdoor seating. Seems to be a very popular spot for takeout/delivery, but can also dine in! Came at around 7PM with my roommates for dinner and sat indoor - other people showed up not so long after we got there and the place got relatively filled. Our waiter was the only person serving and he was very quick considering he was handling people dining in and also preparing takeout orders! We started off with the curry puffs, they were warm, flakey, and very delicious. For my main dish, I went with the shrimp udon red curry noodle soup, but substituted the shrimp for the tofu. It was DELICIOUS. So sweet and savory, the udon noodles were so soft and yummy, the tofu was cooked perfectly. Probably one of my favorite dishes this year! Looking forward to coming back/ordering from here again soon!

Seafood Creamy Tom Yum Noodle Soup
    Christopher T.

Small Thai shop with quick and friendly service. The creamy seafood Tom yum soup was different, the added creaminess cut the acidity of the broth, and there was a good amount of squid/seafood. Highlight was definitely the pork in the fried rice- very tender and flavorful. The fried rice itself was also done quite well. Decent prices too.

    Inside
    Michelle Y.

Delicious Thai place with a a cozy interior! The inside is pretty small and seats less than 10 people, but it seems like Thip Osha is a popular place to go to for take-out. The lunch special was especially worth it, as we got an entree, appetizer, and salad for around $11. (The lunch entree is noticeably smaller than a normal portion, which makes sense). Service was a little slow considering we were the only table seated, but wasn't too bothered by it as I figured they don't get a lot of sit-down customers.

    Angel M.

Such a small gem with only four tables inside and can probably only fit eight people max. The Nam Ngien is very flavorful and is perfect on a cold night. P.S. place does not have a restroom available for customers so beware.

Duck Noodle Soup (after a few bites taken... the original presentation was gorgeous)
    Elyse P.

There's only a few tables of two inside this tiny spot, but wow is it worth squeezing in for a meal! Seems like most people order takeout here, but my boyfriend and I sat in for a bowl of duck noodle soup (which had been recommended by a friend), and a bowl of seafood tom yum soup. The service was quick, the soups were huge, and the flavors were amazing. Both dishes were super tasty, but I will be thinking about that duck soup for a long time. I wish I lived closer so I could work my way through their whole menu!

As soon as we arrived, we were escorted to a table. I've noticed that this restaurant seemed very authentic. They had dishes that I've never seen at other Thai spots. Their chefs are also from Central & Northeastern part of Thailand. So, they are cooking from their respective regions. The presentation of their dishes are all aesthetically pleasing. We decided to share a small plate of HOR MOK This tasted almost like a crab puree into a spoon sized portion. There's 7 pieces in one order. It was recommended to eat it all in one bite. It was great. Texture was very smooth in your mouth. Surprisingly, it had a spicy kick (but nothing too intense). I personally decided to try KHAO PAD MUN NEUR. This is a pricey dish, but very filling! It was said to have 2 pepper spice level to it, but I personally didn't find it very spicy. The rib eye was cooked just the way I like it - medium well (still with some redness in the inner portion). The meat had a perfectly charred/grilled exterior, but very soft to chew. This meat was probably the best part of the dish. Only slight complaint is that the rice was very saucy (almost a bit too much for my preference). But overall, I did enjoy it and was able to finish it, but left super full! Overall, I think it was worth a try. Their service is great. The servers are super great of making sure that your water is always topped up. They explained the recommended way to eat certain dishes. They were able to answer any questions that we had.

Lunch in Brooklyn during in-between meetings of my professional duties of a Wednesday afternoon…read moresummons Thai cuisine. Pad Kee Mao (aka Drunken Noodles), chicken $15.00 Stir-fried flat rice noodle, bamboo shoots, garlic, basil, fresh chili, onion, carrot, string bean, bell pepper, long hot chili The flat rice noodle quantity was sufficient, but minimal and there were too much onion, insufficient string bean, two paucity pieces of carrot. I dislike bamboo shoot which is not a standard ingredient for this particular entrée. I think the bamboo shoot tainted this entrée. I am a traditionalist conservative which bean sprouts is a good substitute variation for bamboo shoot vegetable including string bean. This entrée is my favorite default and as a caveat, if any Thai restaurant or cafe do not offer on their menu I refuse entry to patronize. This entrée enticed my interest and embedded the lunch meal menu for the reasonable price. I personally despise and do not consume spicy hot foods, but occasionally consume mild or very mild in the smallest measurement of the Scoville scale which I specifically requested, but received medium hot spicy. The waitress forewarned me the intense heat level on the Scoville scale as Thai cultural spicy with two or more bird's eye chilies for a high level of spiciness. The spiciness of chili peppers were, in my opinion, medium spicy. Despite the intense medium heat spiciness, the stir-fried noodles lacked flavor with, tender chicken, minimal vegetables, and Thai basil in a bland taste. I wish I chosen shrimp as the protein. Pad Kee Mao sustained my hunger pangs and ate my fill. When eating Thai intense heat spicy foods, I visualize to think of the TV segment "Niall Horan & James Corden Take On Hot Wings" on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in March, 2020. High heat spicy foods! Thai ice tea, large $3.00 This was a delight and neutralized the heat spiciness because it contains milk. It was served chilled in a large highball glass. My partner was running late, and even though the place is clearly very popular right now, they still accommodated us with a table. The staff explained every unfamiliar dish we asked about, always with a smile. I usually avoid the standard NYC Thai restaurant lineup of pad thai + generic curry situations and look for places that feel more regional and authentic. The menu here had a bunch of dishes I didn't recognize, which immediately made me excited. They even have a spice guide though the icons don't necessarily mean increasing spice levels. As I understood it, different symbols represent different types of heat. Three chili emojis and three meteor emojis may be equally spicy, but they hit differently. They recommended not to order the pad krapow nuer, and honestly, fair enough. Instead, we got the chicken khao soi, which was far better than versions I've had elsewhere - deeply flavorful, spicy, rich with umami. My partner was crying. I, meanwhile, was at "this is perfect and I'm having a great time." One Huge chunk of chicken cooked exactly right. Mix everything thoroughly before eating. Then came the kua kling which arrived with another warning. That dish became my personal challenge to impress the server, and apparently I succeeded because now they've promised that next time they won't discourage me from ordering the nuer. They kept refilling cabbage and cucumber for us to cool down from the heat. The kua kling itself was incredible. That dry curry heat was everything. It builds slowly, then suddenly punches you in the face - but alongside all that spice is an insane amount of flavor. They also recommended to order a non-spicy side dish to have a balanced meal and spice level, but we skipped it because it would've been too much food. Honestly, this is the kind of place where going with at least four people is ideal so you can try more dishes and balance the spice levels. And if you're unsure what to order, trust the servers - their recommendations were spot on. Also: really great ciders and beers. We were really happy with both choices. Overall, even though it's far from the city for me, I'd absolutely go back.

Newsflash: Ugly Baby is back on its bullshit. Ugly Baby's…read moreconceit, if you can call it that, was that it was really, really spicy. Spicy food, in case you didn't know, connotes authenticity. Call it suffering for beauty, in a culinary wrapper. Ugly Baby took this S&M theater to its logical conclusion in all regards: tuck it in an inaccessible corner of South Brooklyn; use tiny chairs and brusquely inform diners they have an hour start to finish at their table. The more inconvenient it was, the better. I held my applause after my single visit to Ugly Baby, which closed amidst wails and lamentation last year from people who liked rough treatment. But something drew me back to this reincarnation, started by the same people. Maybe, I thought, they'd found a way to bring us that magnetic authenticity, and hold the ball gags and chain flails? The answer is no. I should have known from the name alone: another mysterious two-word phrase (both of whose words again end in -y) that sounds like it could be an overly literal translation of some ineffable Thai concept. I should have known when it opened in the same godforsaken corner of ... what is that? Gowanus? I should have known from the protracted negotiations for a suitable table that followed when my husband, mom and I arrived punctually for our 5:30 reservation and were primly informed we'd be squeezing onto a two top, then were refused an obviously empty three-top ("it's reserved"....oh you mean by a party of three with a reservation like us?), and then grudgingly seated at a four-top, half of which was literally in the kitchen. I should have known after being apprised that "you have one hour at the table." I should have known when there were no appetizers or desserts, and only two vegetarian entrees. This is the same thing as before. We're so back, baby. The mushroom curry, with its single fire emoj, was nowhere near the spiciest thing on the menu, but gosh was it still spicy. How do they make food with such complex flavors that's still hot enough to have emanated from the bowels of hell? It has to be one of the best curries I've had. It's a talent, special even, but it could easily coexist without Hungry Thirsty's other downsides. But I think all those inconveniences and discomforts are the point. They serve to reinforce the specialness of the special parts, counterintuitively increasing your mental investment in internally extolling Hungry Thirsty's virtues. They are to each element what spice is to food: it hurts, and you're proud that it hurts. It all adds up to the second coming of Ugly Baby, and why wouldn't it? Enough people liked being slapped around; maybe they felt like they deserved it. You know if that's you or not.

My first time here and it was a great experience. It is Valentine's Day and we left with a cute little gift from them, beautiful gesture. Definitely coming back :)

Had been passing this spot for years and finally had the chance to stop in…read more Host was polite and quickly sat us without a reservation - we wanted to sit outside and there was room thankfully. Wait staff was attentive to dietary needs, exemptions and ensured our request was followed to a T. Ordered some Khao Kriab Pak Mor (dumplings) to start along with a pair of mocktails. And an order of Khao Na Ped (smoked vegan duck) and Ginger Chicken (vegan). All served well with good portion. What I personally liked is the 2 dishes took a bit, not slow or long but IMHO taking a little bit always seems it was cared for in prep. Who knows just my thing. The staff has a challenge to accommodate outdoor seating as the bldg doesn't have an inside/back door for them and they must carry food out the front door, down the sidewalk and into the garden area. That's tough but they do it with grace. The seating was okay since it's early enough but bugs showed up - no surprise - not a complaint just the reality of life and online typing in case anyone is considering it and is more sensitive to the same.
