I want to start reviewing businesses more often and I can't start off with a better review than this 5* one for things remembered. My boss is playing with the idea of starting his own tequila. For a presentation meeting he had a prototype bottle made and needed it engraved. Even on a busy day right before they were going to close, Mercedes helped us out. She was fantastic! She said that the only hurdle was to make sure the bottle was flat enough to be engraved. She put it in the engraver and said 'no problem'! We got a text the next day saying it was ready to be picked up. Mercedes was there and enthusiastically showed us the bottle. My boss loved it. Just an amazing job!! We have since returned to have 5 more bottles done! Very happy with the entire experience!! read more

I am always shocked at the wide range of star ratings that are given at any one place. While I myself have been known to give only 1-star ratings for places I absolutely detest, I do find myself flabbergasted when others do the same, and I have no clue why they'd say it. I mean, everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, and things don't always go well. In the case of Things Remembered, while there are some scathing reviews, I couldn't have had a better experience if I tried. Perhaps they are inconsistent, I really don't know. It happens, but for me, my experience was PERFECT. My niece and (now) nephew to-be were getting engaged, and we were invited to witness the the big surprise event (a surprise to my niece, no one else). It was really cool and romantic, I have to say. But I digress. I wasn't given much notice, and I wanted to bring a gift. I immediately went to the Things Remembered website and found the PERFECT gift (at least, to me). A lovely heart-shaped picture frame to store 2 pictures (one on each side) for this special event..... with room for engraving. As it happens, I did read in another review that someone had problems with the website, and while I had some technical problems myself, someone from the website customer service was very quick to fix the problem, was very kind, and took care of whatever I needed. Problem(s) solved. I was told I could pick up my merchandise 4 hours later. When I got to the store, it was at the front counter, already boxed and sitting in a bag. They took it apart to show me, and it couldn't have been lovelier (see photo of it). The box and its packaging was very sturdy, the frame was carefully wrapped, and I was very pleased with how it all turned out. While my photo doesn't do it justice in terms of the shiny, sleek, polished silver appearance, you can still see what a great engagement gift it is....... and just know, they did a wonderful job with the engraving (that, you can see).... and they have perfect gifts for any and every occasion one would want to commemorate. I know things CAN go wrong, but for me, they didn't. I'm pretty sure this is a reputable store, and they'd make good on any issue anyone would have. You really should give them a try !! read more

I walked into things Remembered I asked for a dog picture frame and a lady came and helped me she was very friendly and also very clear about telling me the sales they had for the Christmas holiday, she took me to the iPad after finding my item I asked her name to put in for the purchase order form, her name is Sara, She is the best she got me all set up on the iPad after helping me find the best dog picture frame she suggested some fronts to me on the iPad she also was very friendly and clear about the sales that were going on for the Christmas holiday, Sara is the best and know what she is doing, I remember when we used to have to write out our messages on the forms, now everything is done on a tablet. Permanence. That's the first word that comes to mind when I when I think of "Things Remembered." Something that is etched in glass or metal with hopes that it will live --possibly outlive he or she who receives the item. Sucks balls. Those are the words that actually came to mind at this particular Things Remembered. I was here in the afternoon on a weekday, shortly before Christmas. It was going to cost $50 for me to engrave a 2 X 3" plate with about 12 words--that's a lot of money for a gal like me. The chicks in this store were unhelpful and were talking badly about customers while other customers (such as myself) were in the immediate vicinity. I felt rushed to choose what I wanted and rushed to complete my purchase. It annoyed the hell out of me after a while so I just walked out without buying anything. read more

I have to say I use things remember often it's a very nice way to give someone something nice and thoughtful. I have never had such great customer service like two days ago. Andrew was there that night and he was amazing. He went out of his way to accommodate my husband and I on an upcoming Christmas gift for my mother. I'm so mad right now I don't even know what say! I placed an order last month for 40 blankets as our company gift to our clients for Christmas. They told me I will be able to pick it up on the 9th which gives me enough time to ship them out. I went on the 10th it's not ready. They told me two more days, I went again on the 12th still not ready. Went agin yesterday and they said it will be ready today. I just called and they said three more days!!! Are you kidding me!? Our whole plan is screwed up! There is no way we will meet the cut off time to ship the order out! We have to find a place to make the blankets in two days which is impossible!!! Screw thus place ! I went to things remembered to get my grandmother a 75th birthday present. They had so many options I thought everything would make her happy. I ended up choosing a bracelet with an engraved heart. She loved it like expected but later I had to get a new one because this was too big. Walked in thinking I was going to be looking at cute christmas items they had in store, but was instead met with the rude manager, Drina, asking what me and my friend were doing there. I do not know if she judged me by the way I looked and thought I was going to steal something or what, but i felt extremely uncomfortable as that was said directly in front of other customers. I kept looking around ignoring the rude statement that was just made and realized said manager began following me and my friend throughout the store watching us. Very noticeably watching us. I have never stolen anything in my life and never plan to. But upon walking in, I am immediately judged by the extremely rude and ill-appointed manager. I have the means to buy myself something if I wanted to, but instead was made to feel totally uncomfortable. I will never enter this store again. I should have looked at the bad customer service reviews before entering. Maybe then I would have been expecting the bad attitude and pure rudeness I was met with. read more

I've had several good experiences at Things Remembered. The latest is I found the last robot key chain that I wanted to get for my daughter, who is a lover of robots. Since it was missing the metal tag they gave me a discount on top of a discount. Unfortunately when I got it home it fell apart. You'd think that I'd want to give them a poor rating for such a mess of a key ring, BUT, when I brought it back they went to work to fix it. Alas, it still fell to pieces, but when I went back to return it, the gal searched other stores and found the last one at another store and had it delivered. This one has the tag and is in great shape. I felt like the employees were polite and went above and beyond in service. But, I do agree that they're engraving prices are high, which is why I didn't give them five stars. read more

I brought the knives into this store at the Oaks Mall and explained my situation to TR's employee, Tatum. She immediately remedied the issue and made me 100% satisfied. Thank you. They have items for you to truly get the right thing for anyone, but they will also let you bring in your own item to be engraved. Lots of problems with this store. Rude staff who don't acknowledge you while you're waiting for them to start helping you. Outrageous prices for very basic engraving. Worst of all for my fiance and I was their failure to follow-through on completing our order same day. We stopped in in the early afternoon and were told we could pick up our order the same afternoon. That took the sting out of paying over $150 for getting a couple words engraved on a few gifts for our groomsmen and bridesmaids. We came back after the time the order was promised to be completed to find that it had not even been started. Needless to say, we won't be back. read more

I have had several wonderful experiences at this Thousand Oaks, CA, Things Remembered store. Each time I have visited this store in the Oaks Mall, Nikki, a manager, has been extremely focused, available and helpful both when I have browsed and when I have purchased. Nikki has been there for a few years and she is not just passing time there, in-between this or that. She is knowledgeable about all of her merchandise and very artistic. Every time, Nikki has tried to make my purchase better. One time she set up my phone for coupons; another time she went out of her way to find a product for me. As a store that provides pretty, unique and special gifts that may be engraved , I can only say how thankful I am for their offerings. If I could leave less than 1 Star I would. Drina, the store manager, asked my 18 year old daughter and her friend what they were doing in the store. Literally... not exaggerating, "what are you doing here" - my daughter was completely SHOCKED!! COMPLETELY embarrassing them as she did this in front of other customers. My daughter has a credit card and is able to purchase items if she so chose to, but, Drina continued to follow them around the store making them VERY uncomfortable - obviously thinking they were shoplifters - NOTHING could be further from the truth!! How horrifying!! When my daughter got home and explained to me what had happened, I called the store and attempted to speak with Drina, but when I got to the part where she asked my daughter and her friend what they were doing there, the ONLY thing I got from Drina at that point was talking over me - VERY LOUDLY. I don't know how she took a breath because she never, EVER, NOT ONCE, stopped loudly speaking over me - I finally hung-up. What kind of store hires this kind of person???!! My daughter even said it was too bad because she wanted to purchase some things but was much too uncomfortable to even shop there with Drina following her and her friend around the store. Worked for me. Heading out later today for the Graduation of a niece & nephew and wanted something that I hope they'll like and have it engraved same day. Long story short Jazmine made some nice suggestions and was knowledgeable and personable. I bought one item in the store to be engraved and another at an outside shop for them to engrave as well. Jazmine helped with the best fonts for maximum visibility and style and said both items would be done within an hour. Forty five minutes got a text from Things Remembered that both items were ready. No complaints whatsoever. This is probably the 4th or 5th time I've used them for gifts and each time has turned out well. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I live 2 hours from this location but I wanted to get flutes and cake servers for the wedding and get them engraved with our names and date. We show up to the store and the manager Niki is there. NO hello, welcome or ANYTHING. We decide to look at their selection which was limited but we understood that. After a while of contemplating we pick the things we like and we fill out the form and pay. It was around 12 and the items were supposed to be ready for pick up at 3:30 or EARLIER she stated. We get a call 2 HOURS LATER and we went back to the store to find out the flutes we picked were not in stock and we would have to come back tomorrow because they would be restocking. Keep in mind WE LIVE 2 hours away!!!!!! Apparently the computer said they had it in store and when she checked 2 hours later they weren't there. So we wasted our time waiting for them to be finished so if we didn't like what we saw we could alter something. We decided to just get it shipped to our house which yes we did have to pay for. OVERALL, BAD EXPERIENCE and weddings are supposed to be fun :( read more

I was getting married and had ordered a personalized bracelet for the flower girl from etsy in the maol. It did not arrive on time (admittedly my fault) so I rushed into things remembered hoping to find anything to replace the gift that hadn't arrived. I was in such a hurry and a little frantic as brides can be. A young man and young woman helped me right away. They produced a flower girl bracelet and then engraved it for me. They were so nice and helpful I wish every establishment I grant patronage to would have customer service representatives like them. I wish I had gotten their names they were FANTASTIC. I purchased a bracelet for my daughter on their website and went to pick it up in the store. First of all, their website was terrible. I finally had to call the customer service number for assistance and she said that everyone complains about the website but for some reason, they won't fix it. I go to the store to pick up the bracelet and the engraving is so small that you would need a magnifying glass in order to read it. I told the clerk that I wasn't happy with the engraving and she said that if I wanted it to be engraved again, that I would need to pay for another bracelet. I told her that on the website it was perfectly legible with the font that I had chosen and she responded with, "there's nothing I can do for you". The customer service that I received was beyond terrible. I told the clerk that and her only comment was "have a nice day". I will not be going back, that's for sure! read more

please please please do not use this company. They are the worst. My parents 65th anniversary and the children decided to give them a better wedding album because theres was beat up after 65 years. So we got a special book that was engraved with the names of the children and grandchildren on the cover. This is where things got bad the names which were supposed to go up and down the whole cover were condensed into small little names. Not what we asked for. The book came with the sleeves for the picture but it was not enough. They said you could just order more on line. The next problem is when you go on line you cannot find sleeves that fit . This is a nice book and you want things that fit incorrectly. After looking every where we begged and pleaded just to give us the name where they get their sleeves that come with the book from. They refused to do that. Why? I have no clue. Anyways now the book is ruined and I hate this company. I hope everyone who is undecided about going to this store goes somewhere else.
