My wife and I came to this Hot Topic because she wanted something that has Weenie The Pooh on it. The moment we step inside the store, a worker greeted us and asked if we needed any help. We told him what my wife was looking for and he showed her all the stuff that had Weenie the Pooh. My wife decided to go with the little purse which was at a decent price. The store isn't that big inside but it works for them. They have a line for online pickup and check out. It did take a while to check out but the woman working the cashier was very nice. I had some points and rewards so she told me to get something else to qualify for it. We settle for a Minnie mouse pin. Hot Topic has changed so much over the years but their dope customer service hasn't. My group and I were greeted by Jose who informed us about their promotion--buy one get 30% off tees--and did his best to direct us towards where we'd best find Sanrio baby tees. It's always nice to be acknowledged when you enter a shop. As a shopper, make sure y'all greet them back. Don't ignore people. Lol. Anyway, I didn't find what I was looking for (I had seen something I wanted at the Topanga location that I was hoping they'd have here), but it's all good because I still wound up buying a Tokyo Revengers shirt along with a Berserk one. They have everything a fan could want to buy and then some. Great place for gifts as well. Especially friends and family who share my fandom. Price ranges fit all budgets and for those pricey item HT has a great rewards program as well as coupons all year round. I tend to FREE ship to store if my order doesn't qualify for free shipping. Sometimes I keep items on my wish list and wait for a coupon but you risk on that item selling out. My pick ups are always smooth. Back in high school and college I used to love Hot Topic. It was my go to for all my t-shirt and pin needs. However, over the year either I changed or Hot Topic did. I'm still not quite sure which is true. I came in recently to pick up a KROQ sticker and to see if they had a Zelda pendant I'm trying to track down for my parents' dog (named Zelda). I was shocked at how cramped the location felt. It felt like I was going through a tight maze just trying to navigate my way around. I was lucky that it wasn't too busy because I can't see how anyone would be able to get anywhere in the store if there was even a small crowd of customers. It just wan't a good experience and I'm glad I was just picking up a free sticker. I very quickly gave up trying to find the Zelda item and just left the store. read more

I don't really shop here but needed to purchase a cool gift. I tried to place an online order, and my coupon was not taking. I called customer service, and they were no help. They told me to go to the store instead. I called the store and spoke to a very helpful guy, I explain my Issue and he told me not to worry, he will honor my coupon. I hung up the phone and was at the store within minutes. I was worried because I forgot to get the guys name. Anyhow i walked in and recognized the voice and asked him to assist me. Went in the store after I haven't been there in years. Usually go for the earrings and jewelry. I was approached by 3 sales associates and even had one standing by me the entire time I was looking at their earring selection. Got the feeling they thought I was going to steal. Mind you, these are 17 year old minimum wage employees. I make more money than all these part time employees, why would I want to steal your cheap $12 products for? There was even an undercover passing by me. I literally just spent $100+ at macys before going there, why on earth would I care to steal from your sh*tty store. Purchased a pair of earrings which are poorly manufactured, don't even close properly. Will be returning the terrible product and will be taking my business elsewhere, where they appreciate business from interested customers. The audacity, the blatant disrespect and extreme rudeness of Mr. Aiden was shocking tonight. I'm a mall employee and frequent shopper of both hot topic at Topanga and Northridge. Last night, I did my first-ever return/exchange at Hot Topic Northridge. I had a few pieces of jewelry that I received as holiday gifts from different people, which I brought by to exchange for a scarf I've been really wanting. When I walked up to the register, I noticed the employee, Aiden, was already a sour face from the moment I saw him and rolled his eyes throughout the duration of our conversation. He was also very sarcastic every time I asked him a question, and really tried to go out of his way to make me feel stupid. He treated me as if every question I asked him was stupid. Anyway, I let him know that these were gifts from different people and he said that due to the current promotion, I would have to return two but not get credit for the other two, as in two of my gifts from my other friends would disappear Into Thin Air as if they never got it for me.. and I did not have a problem with him trying to follow the rules, but I did explain to him I don't think that makes any sense and that since they are from separate people and separate transactions, that they should be returned one at a time, separately. Or that I could exchange one of the items now, for the scarf that I want. And then I would think about what I'd like to do with the rest of the gifts. He then repeatedly asked me, "so what do you plan to do with the rest of them?! " over and over again. Again, I repeated that I will be exchanging the one item with the scarf and paying the difference, and the rest of the items will be decided and dealt with later. He said "okay then I'm going to make a note and speak with my district manager so that you will never be able to exchange these items." WOW. As heated as I was, I stayed calm and simply stated again " I'll be exchanging the item and will decide later what I would like to do with the other gifts and whatever I decide to do does not concern you. All you need to know is that I'm exchanging this item now." He then said "YOU ARE CHEATING THE SYSTEM. If you come back here, and I'm here, I will REFUSE you service".. . excuse me? Yes, you read correctly, this pathetic excuse for a store manager just said he will refuse me service, as if Hot Topic is some kind of Chinese restaurant or family-owned nail shop, at which you can send people away if you don't like them. I just came to exchange a gift, and now THIS. Accusations, horrible attitude. How dare you? How does one allow themselves to speak to a customer this way? And on what grounds? Exchanging a gift? If this level of customer service is a regular thing for your company, I feel very sorry for you. Because I'm a mall employee myself and work in retail and if I ever spoke to a customer like that, there would be serious consequences for me. Which is why I've never spoken to a customer like that before and never will. Perhaps you guys have different standards at your store. read more

I collect Funko pops and I'm not ashamed to admit it! In general I enjoy shopping at Hot Topic, but after shopping here I will stick to online only. The employees here are not helpful, rude and in general if you are using any of the coupons, hot cash or promos going on in store they will try their best to make it so you can't based off some random exclusion their manager made up. The manager of the store is probably the worst aspect about this place. She is not only rude, but treats customers like second rate citizens. I spend at least $50-100 on average at Hot Topic a week on collectibles and since going here I've stopped. Overall the store is cluttered, messy and super claustrophobic on top of their poor employees so look elsewhere for your Hot Topic needs. read more

Placed order on Nov 17th to be shipped to store. Shipped the next day and told me to wait for email to come pick it up. Tracked the package and it was delivered Nov 25th but I waited and waited and no pick up email. Waited until Dec 6th, still no email. Was in the mall anyways so decided to go see what's up with the package. They looked and couldn't find it, checked the system and said it wasn't ready yet and to just keep on checking my email. They started having a larger selection of Disney products and I really like that! It ranges from Lilo and Stitch, to Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast, Frozen, and they even had a great gem today the Princess and the Frog! They started producing a collection of Disney bows that is now my new found Kryptonite and I am absolutely powerless against it! They range from $6-8.99 which is pretty pricey for a bow, but sometimes they have these buy one get 1/2 almost any item in the store... So that makes it worth it! They also have a collection of lanyards that people use for their job and or keys. They are colorful and have any where from Disney, comics, Minions, etc. they have a variety of T-shirts from bands and a variety of artists. Sometimes I don't always care for the music that is playing, but sometimes I get to hear something I like. The only thing is it's always really loud and I can't hear when I talk at the cash register. They have good customer service, it's just pricey if you don't come with a deal. read more

I stopped in there for the first time on the 6th for the free Letters Burning acoustic show. I gotta admit, I'm impressed they had as much room as they did for the band. Also, the show was freakin' sweet! From the layout, everything is spaced out nicely and encourages flow, unlike other Hot Topics where the aisles mean pure congestion. The back (where the band played) holds a wide variety of clearance items, and even though it is shuffled off in the corner, the area was semi-spacious and had nice stock to choose from. Surprisingly, the store was not in shambles despite the crowd. Everything was neat and orderly, the workers didn't wreak of any bad vibes, and the place was well lit (maybe for the band?) Nahhh. They're just that up to speed. Ever since I began shopping at Hot Topics, I've noticed that they aren't as overrated as people think. It's pretty rad that they host shows smack dab in the middle of a business day. The workers aren't huge douche bags. It's not a breeding ground for depressed kids, and no one gives you static for being in there just cause you don't look like them. Give it a chance - you'll probably end up liking it, too. read more

Jan 23. Around 11:45am. Service was fine until I've decided to try something on. I usually only come here for sunglasses from time to time until I saw something i really liked. They only have one fitting room. It was closed. So I've asked the girl if that was the only one and she she answered politely, yes. I've decided to go to the closed door and no one was in there so I went inside and tried the shirt. Love the shirt. Decided to buy it immediately. Went to the register. Slighty overheard the girl saying to the her co-worker, "go ahead and lock it." So i realized that they keep the fitting room locked, it just wasn't locked when I got there and then the girl told me "Next time ask one of us to take you to the fitting room, just for future reference." Her tone wasn't harsh, it was just the way she said it. I felt antagonized for doing something that i didn't know i had to do. It was just bad taste. And this could've been resolved easily once i asked her the question about the fitting room. She had options of... "Oh yeah the fitting room is one room, do you want to try something on? I'll open the door." Or "....oh yes it is one room, let either of us know when you're ready to try stuff on." That is guiding your customer. Don't want to talk? Print out a sign and tape it in front of the door saying " hey y'all. Please ask one of us about trying stuff on! :) -hot topic staff". Cute stuff tho. read more

Hot topic is definitely hit or miss. Overall, I like the variety of items: piercings, jewelry, clothes, Disney stuff, little keychains/figurines, macheen cat stuff, etc. But it's probably better to shop online... Certain items are a great price and other things are WAY overpriced. Prices on the clothes are pretty reasonable, but collectible items are expensive. I got a pair of black pants that fit perfectly for $25. Also, I love this red velvet tank I got for $27. Anyways, I came to this location yesterday. I asked one of the male employees (skinny guy with ear gauges and dark hair) to check if they had my size in their stingerette style pants. They were on the very top shelf and I'm 5'2". He said no the biggest size we have is a 7 so I just agreed to try them. As he handed them to me, I realized they weren't even the same style as the rest of the stack (they had a tag with the word FLARE on them in huge letters). I guess they were put in the wrong place. So I tried to explain to him that they weren't the same and asked if there was a 7 in the stingerette style. His lazy response, "I don't know women's pants ma'am." Wth? No shit. Of course you don't; you're a guy. It's just common sense. I literally had to explain to him that the pants weren't the same and they were put on the wrong stack. His stupidity amazed me. I should've just asked for a stool and looked myself. Soooo weird because the other male employee (wearing glasses) who helped me was so nice. Also, the set up of this store is strange. All the shelves are placed so close together; it's impossible to shop without bumping into at least 5 people. I will probably go to another location in the future. Absolutely ridiculous how I was spoken to today at this hot topic. I went in to ask about the KROQ stickers that had started today for a chance at a Billie Eilish concert. When I went in I spoke to a girl with blue hair when later I found out that she was the manager. I asked her if she had them and she was rude asking what stickers and that she might have them but she hasn't gone through her shipments yet. Even though KROQ was very clear that every hot topic store listed would have them on the 12 today is August 12! So I called KROQ and they even said they should have they are just being lazy. Rude workers. Came in a while back to purchase twist on gages and when i asked the girl with the pink hair if they had any, she said, "what you dont want your ears to look like mine?" Then proceeded to call over one of her co workers and try to get them to make fun of me too. She then said maybe spencers had what i was looking for. Before i was about to leave she said, "are you gonna get fake tattoos as well? Are you gonna use sharpy to draw them ?" . Its my choice whether or not i want to stretch my ears. The staff here is great! They really are happy and helpful. When the item I was looking for was out of stock, they happily suggested other items I may like. But, they were never pushy about it.
