I stopped by this Michaels store yesterday to look at their balloons selection because they had a sign outside that they sell balloons now. The balloon are in the middle of the store right when you walk inside. They had some great choices and you don't have to pay for the helium, just for the balloon themselves. The prices will vary depending on which one you get. I asked an employees if I can purchase the balloon first and then come back to get it filled with helium but she told me it's better to do it all at once. So I'll come back on Saturday morning to do that. I also decided to walk around the store since I also had to use the bathroom. The bathroom is toward the back of the store but it was closed for whatever reason. I saw that this Michael store now has a self checkout station, they didn't have that before. We weren't aware that Michaels host birthday party for kids and teens. We found out when we stopped by the store to pick up some art materials. We had one of my daughter's birthday party at Michaels. We are so glad we celebrated one of her birthday parties here. From the beginning of our transaction until the end of the party, was excellent. The party host this sweet lady. I'm sorry I didn't get her name. She was excellent. She was a great host, teacher and artist. Thank you so much. We had 8 kids in our party and they did several arts and crafts project. At the end each guest had a goodie bag full of Michaels art materials as souvenir. The party is area was great because it's very private and in the back of the store. We have already recommended Michaels to all our social circles for birthday parties. It's guaranteed that everyone birthday celebrant and guests will have a wonderful time. read more

We came by for a birthday party. It was an arts and crafts birthday that was hosted in one of their private rooms. Hostess/artist was for party was very nice and good with the kids. The room is a little small and I guess really is supposed to house the kids only? Most of the parents wanted to stay and the hostess was very nice about it and accommodating. With the artists instruction, the kids painted a birdhouse, and a squegee type painting. Paints, brushes and anything else required were provided and goodie bags were handed out at the end. I entered the store! No one greeted , e employees visibly,i figured where to go! Asked a tall blonde young associate for help! He said would be back, he did and helped someone else! Passed by me 2 more times! Totally forgot! I located store Manager 3 isles down speaking with 2 other employees! Stood right on their faces for about 4 minutes! No one dare to talk to me or acknowledge me whatsoever! I had to say am I that transparent! And none of the 3 knew with certainty my question s answer! ! Pathetic service! The store has some fun seasonal displays and collectibles, especially Lemax Spooky Town, which is always eye-catching. But honestly, the lack of a grand entrance makes it feel underwhelming compared to other Michael's. Just a random door. You walk in and it's like... oh, that's it? Also, as cool as the Spooky Town stuff looks, I've bought a few pieces over the years and every time, something stops working within a week. Either the lights dim, the sounds cut out, or the whole thing glitches. For the price, you'd expect better quality. Great for browsing, just don't expect long-lasting decorations. read more

I decided I needed a new theme for my outdoor Christmas decorations. I threw out 20 big trash bags. of broken, outdated ornaments. I wanted to get clear plastic decorations for my Sunday school class to decorate one for their tree. I knew Michael's sold them so off I went. I checked my email for coupons and set about buying them. I noticed an outdoor holiday pine arch with white lights. It was half off so I could not say no. I was looking for stickers and paint for my Sunday School class so along came Xoch. She was the most knowledgeable, creative, warmest associate ever. She helped me with creative ideas and finding the items to make those ideas a reality. She is awesome! I really enjoyed myself. They have animated Halloween items as well there are Thanksgiving arts and crafts and there is everything Christmas you would ever want. It's like walking into A Disneyland of arts and crafts. You can make anything your imagination comes up with. They also have a Framing section as well as jewelry making. The store is very organized and definitely packed. read more

The customer service in this location is non-existent except for the custom framing area! The employees are rude and prefer conversations with each other over asking if customers need help or even say hello. It's so easy to say "hello"or "excuse me" when they nearly roll into you. I spent almost an hour in the store looking for what I needed. The entire time only one employee said hello. The lady at the framing counter. Of course, she was getting off work and her replacement had to be new. So she gets a pass for not being properly trained. The cashier was condescending and borderline rude. My name is not 'ma-am'! Politeness and kindness goes a long way. I have shopped her for years and today's treatment was very disappointing. I have seen a deterioration in customer service since they introduced self service kiosks. I'm trying to save jobs and spread smiles to people, not do it myself with a cold machine. As we enter the outdated atmosphere. I came in with my girlfriend, looking to do it at home, creative project. Believing that one of the girls who were stalking the floors may have been the manager on duty. To our disappointment, she was rude. She helped us her attitude and hospitality was very offputting. There were plenty of staff members to assist. But she made no effort to go as far as assisting or even walking with us to show us what we needed. The young personality as the representative needs to learn how to make a customer feel more welcoming. I spent over $120 yesterday For a simple for a few items. I believe this was enough to at least get a level of hospitality that was deserved. But it wasn't It's because of moments like this is why these stores will eventually shut down and all will go to online ordering losing jobs for human personnel . Michaels has everything you need for crafts. They have fake plants, trees, picture frames, coloring boards, paint craft tools, and candy. The service is OK, they do not have a lot of workers to assist you, especially in the paint and picture area. Great prices when they have a sale. Some items can still be overpriced with sales depending on the item. Lots of parking. read more

I came by earlier this month to grab some items to spruce up our place for the holidays - they had a 40% sale on all Christmas items, which is one of the things I appreciate about Michaels - there's always a sale of some kind. In addition to a few fun pieces, like the faux pine decoration, I grabbed some clear glass ornaments (pack of 8 for 6.99 + 40% off) to fill with different colored acrylic paint to make my own ornaments. I grabbed white paint, green paint, and red paint, and mixed white with either the green, or red to make some fun globe-like ornaments. This location is huge and is always organized. They have lots of items in stock, rows and rows of holiday decor in all different styles too. I've been here a few times and they always have what I want in stock. They do only have one register for cash transactions and everything else is self serve (credit cards only). I did happen to ask the cashier if she could help me checkout as I wanted to pay in cash. Super helpful and checked me out quickly. read more

I'm not one to leave bad reviews but honestly the service was terrible. I needed help so I asked an employee about a specific item and he was very rude and snarky, made it seem like I was bothering him, wouldn't even look my direction whilst I was talking to him, had the company phone in his hand and just listed a bunch of isles that I needed to check (I had already checked these isles that's why I was asking for help). Would definitely not be going back to this location, staff was VERY unwelcoming and store was unorganized leaving many or the seasonal items without price tags or stickers. read more

I WISH I COULD LEAVE NO STARS! THEY DO NOT DESERVE EVEN ONE STAR! Useless management, useless staff, overpriced items, items missing from packaging, and DIRT POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Their manager, Xochitl, is UTTERLY USELESS, I am surprised she is able to stand and speak at the same time let alone able to hold down a position as a "supervisor." My elderly, disabled mother bought a Lemax train set that is missing a track; the item is USELESS without the missing track. No problem, easy to return/exchange!...NOT! She opened a Michael's store card and purchased the train set on the same day while adding her phone number to their system. When I went to the store on her behalf on 11/18/2024, since she is in no healthy condition to go herself, they were not able to locate the transaction using her Michael's store card nor her telephone number. They told me to call their Customer Service Department the following day. FINE... Don't even try calling the Customer Service Department's telephone number because that is a useless waste of time! (On hold for an hour over two calls; the first call was picked up after half an hour, I heard breathing on the other end of the call, then they hung up. I gave up after holding for 30 mins on the second call, I thought calling the store would help, but "Supervisor Xochitl" was a complete waste of time, too.) When I spoke with "Supervisor Xochitl", she was VERY frustrating and clearly displayed a lack of understanding, empathy, and problem solving skills. She kept talking over me, would not tell me her name after asking FOUR TIMES, she could not properly articulate her thoughts, and she became easily frustrated. I told her that I will have my mother add me as an authorized user on her account since she was giving me such a hard time for helping my ELDERLY DISABLED MOTHER. Then she told me, even if I am added as an authorized user, SHE STILL WON'T HELP ME! At this point, considering how much I make in conjunction with how much time I have spent on this, I will simply throw away this train set, refund my mother myself, and DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO BERATE THIS COMPANY, THAT SPECIFIC LOCATION, AND "SUPERVISOR XOCHITL". Online ordering is much more convenient and cheaper but it is good to see what is out there in person. Customer service is unacceptable. Was given no clear instructions on directions. They were vague, rude, and impolite. My friend and I were racially targeted: security was called on us for simply holding the lace material in our cart while buying other materials. We have not stolen anything and even asked for clarification, but were met with snappy responses to "head to the back to cut the lace" with no explanation (we didn't even know where to get it cut!) Our whole experience shopping, we felt uncomfortable because the employee was hovering around us and watching our every move as if we would do something. No proper explanation was even given regarding whether or not we were allowed to carry the lace, instead we were given demands and felt intimidated. This is definitely the place to go for your crafting needs. I'm always in here for my decorating or baking decor supplies. Customer service is always good and it is always kept very organized. They do run out of seasonal things pretty quickly so I usually go right when they start to stock up. There is also a huge parking lot, so parking is never an issue here. An employee named Adrian helped me with my very large and annoying return which were on 5 different receipts with each receipt having like dozen items. He patiently serviced me with the return. I felt bad for the customers behind but Adrian treated me with respect and superb patience! I knew my return would take FOREVER and was a bit scared to go to the counter (you know if you end up with a bad employee; they'd be acting so irritated and annoyed) but Adrian made me feel comfortable about returning the items without feeling bad about it. By the way, Michael's needs to upgrade their system. How in the world can they use such system in year 2024?!?! One order should just have one barcode from the order confirmation email and return all items all at once! My deliveries came in like 10 different shipments and that was annoying too. My 5-star review is solely based on Adrian's service but if it was for Michael's store or system, I'd give them 2-3 stars! read more

For me, fun shopping is at the likes of JoAnn's or Michael's. When in Granada Hills recently, and with a one day coupon in my purse, tried this location for the first time. I had received an email with highlights of their fall merchandise sales, which is what sent me in to view the crafty ideas and temptations! I found one of the items that caught my eye in their promo email, but they were lacking another one. Frustratingly, I saw a dozen of the same pillow I recently bought at a crafts fair, never realizing they abounded at Michael's. Not the store's fault, but I had a moment of disbelief in the aisle. (I thought it was so original when I saw it at the crafts fair!) Moving on, I found a new style of Homespun yarn, a self-striping version. The striking rich colors called my name. Was disappointed at the planner section. It was stuck on a freestanding display unit, versus having its own dedicated row like usual. The amount of stock was quite diminished from what I'm used to seeing. The washi tape selection, while plentiful, was overflowing with spring and summer colors and themes. Can we get some autumn up in here, please? In general, the store seemed clean and organized. They could have used one or two more cashiers, as quite a line was growing at checkout. The young woman who helped me was good about figuring out which coupons I could use to get the best deal. Score! Multiple times I have had to deal with XOCH ("manager") and she's had a shit attitude and given me a difficult time with purchases and returns. All the young ladies are extremely sweet and patient as am I, but Xoch makes me feel uncomfortable every time I go in as if I am bothering her. First, as a knitter I find their selection of yarn a bit dismal, and as of yesterday they have shrunk their knitting tools into about 1/4 of what it was a few years ago. But my real complaint is the number of times I've had to explain that the posted price is less than what they have charged. Yesterday I purchased these cable needles. At the register they charged me 16.99( and in front of me a woman was complaining that the flowers she was purchasing were displayed as On sale but the cashier explained the sign was misleading --only some of them were). I went back and took a photo to show the cashier. She agreed and then tried to ring it up again but this time my 20% discount didn't work because of the the first wrong ring up.) ultimately there was an override and I was able to use the coupon and my reward, but they made it seem like I had done something wrong-- no apology. I think they have so many sales that they are constantly hiking up prices, and then they forget to change them. Check your receipts! read more

She was knowledgeable, friendly and genuinely wanted to help me get just what I wanted. Good customer service now a days is hard to come by, but above and beyond customer service is a rarity. Angela provided the best of everything, my decades old artwork that I needed reframed - she happily assisted with. This store is horrible! Everytime I order from this Michael's I order curbside or pick up in store. EVERY single time I order my orders are in different places, they are never in the bins up front and then I have to wait in line. Which at this store they only have 1 cashier so it takes forever to pick up my order. Why do you offer curbside or pick up in store if it's not done efficiently. I asked to speak to the store manager today, Soshia, and she was EXTREMELY rude and just gave excuses as to why this store is managed the way it is. They are severely understaffed and there is always a huge line and only 1 cashier and the manager just walks around and doesn't even offer to help. I will no longer be going to this store and have filed a complaint with corporate. I've been going to Michaels for years! I used to take my kids there when they had school projects. Michaels has EVERYTHING a creative soul would need. The store is HUGE and you can get lost in the shuffle.
