I've never heard of or witnessed a more incredible pediatric dentist than Dr. Christopher Adams. My autistic son has a lot of sensory issues. Dr. Adams and his incredible hygienist, Christine, go above and beyond treating him with such skill and humanity. When we first became patients, Dr. Adams immediately found exactly the tooth and gum pain that my son could not articulate. Previous pediatric dentists had quickly dismissed my son's discomfort. Great dentist for children. We had our daughter at an adults-only dentist during Covid and so she's potentially traumatized for life. Dr. Thiel was a much better fit. Fantastic pediatric dentist! I've been bringing my three kiddos here for years - ages 9 and 5. Dr. Thiel and all his hygienists are very sweet and make kids excited to be at the dentist. They explain each step of their processes to the kids and why each step is important. They're super patient and go above and beyond to make the kids feel comfortable. One of my twins broke her tooth when she was 18mos old and I had to call the after hours emergency line. His office was quick to reply and helped this mama bear feel better about the situation. They squeezed me in the next day for an emergency visit and even reached out via phone and email afterwards to check on her. I took my daughter (8) in to have a very deep filling done. From the initial exam, to the prep, to the procedure, to the after care pains, I have been highly impressed with the entire staff. At our initial visit, the hygienist made sure that she was not only speaking to me, but also to my daughter. I had my other 3 children with me and she made sure to thank them for how well they behaved during their sister's exam. Prior to the procedure to have the tooth filled, the staff had explained that they would like to give an oral premed as well as the inhalation meds. As we approached the appointment, I became hesitant about the premed. I called and spoke with the receptionist who was very understanding, she voiced my concerns to Dr. Thiel, and called me back to explain the reasoning behind the suggestion and that if I was uncomfortable with it they were more than willing to try the procedure without it. Day of her filling, we arrived early to take the premed. The hygienist (I believe her name was BeBe) was the same one as before. She made sure throughout the entire process to give true, full, informed consent to both me AND my daughter. They treated my daughter like a queen, and were extremely accommodating of my other children. They made an intimidating experience fun and exciting. She got to pick her movies, a blanket, had a juice and a snack (as well has her siblings), pick her smell and color of her nasal mask, and prizes. That night, Dr. Thiel called personally to check on how my daughter was doing. Fast forward a couple of weeks, my daughter began to experience nerve pain on the tooth that we had filled. I called and spoke with staff, they gave me Dr. Thief's initial suggestions and I expressed my reluctance to use western medicine immediately, Dr. Thiel himself called me back and we were able to discuss the reason behind why she was experiencing pain and he understood my desire for a holistic approach first, and made suggestions in that realm. He said he will personally be calling to check on her again next week. I am so impressed with how accommodating the entire staff has been with my desire to take a more holistic approach. They all are very well versed in giving informed consent and anytime I have had questions, they made sure I had them answered before moving on. The entire staff is extremely personable. read more

Dr. Thiel and his staff are always amazing. They're kind and gentle and exude patience every step of the way. We have three children who are seen here. The oldest is 17 about to be 18 and has come here since before Dr. Thiel owned the practice. He quickly won her over the first visit she had with him, and we've taken the other two, 14 and 2, for their entire lives. Office and lobby: The office is clean, well lit, and friendly. The office staff are warm and efficient. The waiting room has a nice train table (wood/magnet set) and there are also game consoles for kids old enough to play video games. They're also not loud or obnoxious, which is super nice for parents and other patients waiting in the lobby. Dental Chairs: The dental staff read their notes and do not re-ask questions, which can be an issue with pediatric (or really any medical) care. They speak directly to the children in addition to us as the parents. They have wooden puzzles, stuffed animals, and books for children to hold. They use little kid plastic Rayban style glasses for their mini patients. They also offer blankets and pillows to help the kids feel more comfortable. Last but not least, check out Dr. Thiel's socks. My older one had been going to this office for routine dental visit and we liked it. My older one has no teeth issue. The dentist has excellent bedside manner. The dental hygienists are very nice. However, my younger one has bad teeth. She had root canal done with two molars, two weeks later the filling fell out. We had to redo the filling, a month later, it fell out again. Then she had a gum boil which indicates the infection is still there, the dentist just dismissed it. Then the filling on the other side also fell out a few months later. Then both molars turned grey and fell piece by piece. We consulted with two other dentists, both said that root canal should be done with crown otherwise the teeth tend to break. Both said the molars are rotten and need to pulled out. read more

Dr Thiel was so great with my son. And his assistant Bebe was so sweet. She sat down before even looking at his mouth and was showing him the trees and birds out the window. We went to him to find out if we needed to have my son's frenum removed. He could have jumped at an opportunity to make some more money but he did not. He instead said it tends to thin out with age, not necessary to put a young child through a surgery and we'd see how things shape up down the road. I found him through Yelp and couldn't have been happier. I would highly recommend. Sidenote, when we called, they said it was a couple months out for a cleaning. But when I told them my son had fallen and hit his face, they got us right in. But if you're looking for a cleaning, make sure you plan ahead. I don't know most people that have to get an emergency cleaning, though! read more

I'm so happy to have found Dr. Thiel and his practice. I had been dragging my feet on taking my daughter to her first dentist appointment, because I was sure it was going to be awful. She cries non-stop when we go to the doctor or get her haircut, so I assumed the dentist would be no different. She did cry in the car all the way there, up the elevator and down the hall, but once we entered Dr. Thiel's office she had a blast! Lots of fun toys in the waiting room and the hygenists could not have been sweeter. They had fun toys waiting for her in the exam room and she earned stickers left and right for doing such a good job! She was so comfortable there that she even held the little mirror in her mouth for Dr. Thiel so he could count her teeth. It takes a lot of energy to keep little ones happy and excited especially in an environment like the dentist office, so my hat goes off to the staff here for their non-stop enthusiasm and energy. Can not speak more highly of this practice. We took all three kids there at once (5, 3, 1 year olds) and they LOVED it. They actually had fun. The staff is very friendly and put the kids at ease. Dr. Thiel is also fantastic with kids. We're very disappointed to learn they do not take our insurance because now we have to go elsewhere. This doctor and his office goes above and beyond. Went to him for a second opinion after hearing rave reviews from friends and decided to stay with him even though he is out of network. I had a follow up question that he answered promptly over email. He saved us a lot of stress, money and time. Just got a procedure done on my kid today which went smoothly and Dr. Thiel called in the evening to check up on us. My kid thinks he is the coolest dr ever and even wants to invite him to come play at our house! Haha The equipment and rooms are well maintained and waiting room toys/games/books are fun for kids. My son, who is special needs, has seen Dr Thiel since he was 1. He is an amazing dentist. He's friendly, thorough, and is patient, always answering any and all questions we have. Although I have to admit that by the time he's finished explaining what's going on, I have very few (if any) questions. Dr Thiel has even operated on my son under general anesthesia to extract & fix several teeth. Everything went so smoothly & Dr Thiel was very receptive to all of our concerns regarding the surgery. He even personally called later in the day after the surgery to check on my son to make sure everything was alright. I am a mother of four and have been taking my kids to Thiel for over a few years now. I don't know why it has taken me THIS long to write a review. I am usually excited about taking them to the dentist because they always have a good experience and absolutely love Thiel and his AMAZING staff, but this time was different because I was bringing in my 3 year old son who has developed some sensory issues since the last visit. I was absolutely dreading the thought of taking him. I imagined myself having to hold him down with tears streaming down both of our faces... I couldn't have been more wrong! The way Christine (Christina?) and Jen, the hygienists, talked to and took care of my son left me speechless. Instead of me holding him down, he sat there and laughed and talked with them. He was excited to show off his teeth and let them clean them. While the dentist came in to talk with me about my children's teeth, (yes, I took them all at the same time! Another benefit to his office!) The kids were allowed to play with puzzles and the staff took them to pick prizes. It was nice to have the one on one time, so I could actually pay attention instead of half-listening, while chasing my kids! I made the drive from Round Rock to see Dr. Thiel, I was impressed. My children were impressed. Both said they "loved that guy", and that is saying a lot after an bad dentist experience in the past. The Staff were friendly, helpful and thorough. We got there and had to wait some, but there were games, and books to play with. When we went back I felt like they spend enough time with the kids, they explained things in detail to me without scaring the kids. I've never written a YELP review before and I honestly couldn't wait to get home to write this. We found Dr. Thiel by throwing a dart on Google. This was my daughter's very first dental experience. We've now been in for several cleanings and 2 procedures over the last 4? years... and I honestly could NOT be happier. It's absolutely priceless to find someone you trust with your children and time and time again, Dr. Thiel and his staff have proven worthy of that trust. Dr. Thiel is kind and patient, excited by what he does, informative, fun and respectful to not only us parents, but most especially to our daughter. In fact, every member of staff I have encountered over these last few years has been totally respectful of my daughter. They've spoken to her with the same calm and genuine care at age 5 as they do now at age 9. Maritza, Dr. Thiel's assistant during the bigger procedures, is one of the kindest and most compassionate individuals I've ever met. Not only are these genuine people, who know their stuff and really really care, but the business is first rate. The office is clean and well organized. The front desk is organized and efficient. The staff is patient and understanding. Neither I nor my child has ever had anything less than an exceptional experience there. Several hours after a big procedure, Dr. Thiel takes the time to call and check on our daughter's recovery. He's even happy to talk personally with her...at every step of the way. The parents are always allowed to be right there and be involved. There's always a chair waiting and I've always felt welcomed. I honestly cannot recommend Dr. Thiel enough. Hands down best Pediatric Dentist! And based on other reviews I chose this one. Today was our first visit to this dentist. It was my 5yr olds first ever visit to the dentist and my 6yr olds second time to the dentist. My 6yr old is not fond of the dentist since having fillings done when he was 4. Both boys at the end said "This is the best dentist ever"! When they go back in 6mo. my 4yr old will go too for her first check-up. She went to day and even though she didn't get seen, they were super nice and gave her a toothbrush and sticker. She was so happy to be involved! Dr. Thiel is awesome and the staff is all super friendly! They take their time to talk to you and don't rush you. They were on-time, the office is clean, has video games for the kids, a train table and other little toys. They even give the kids a Nintendo DS to play while they do work in their mouth if you want. I was also happy that I could go in with them. The last dentist I took my then 4yr old, now 6, was that I couldn't go back with him. I did no like that. Neither did he. We brought our 3 year-old in to Dr. Thiel's office for his second dentist visit at the beginning of October of this year. My son is a slow to warm, tender child who doesn't like people (oftentimes even Mommy) to touch him. We had been to a different practice for his first visit and it did not go well! ...and I was worried going into this one. From the very first encounter, we had a positive experience. The staff spoke to my son directly and with respect, while giving him the space he needed to feel comfortable. There were puzzles to engage him and he got to learn about and touch the equipment on his own time. I held him on my lap and before it was all over, he let the hygienist clean and FLOSS his teeth... I almost started crying! By the time Dr. Thiel approached my son, his staff had already prepared him for what to expect and we had a super visit. We all left feeling good!! I am so happy I took my 2 year old son to Dr. Thiel for a second check!! We took him to another dentist and they insisted that my son needed to go to the hospital and get put under anestisia to have caps put on his teeth. I took him to Dr. Thiel because he came recommended and he said that his teeth didn't need to be capped at all. He gave us a paste to put on my sons teeth and sent us on our way. Dr. Thiel was amazing with interacting with my son and giving my quality time to answer any questions I had. I never once felt rushed. His office staff and dental hygenists were amamzing too. Here we are. Four years later, after writing my first review for Dr. Thiel. What has changed? Well, our family of four became a family of six. yep. We added two more kids. So what does this mean? 2 more patients for Dr. Thiel! And what can I say.. he is still the best! His office staff is amazing, his office is clean and fun. Shoot, I wish I was a patient here! You will have to call to find out if they are taking new patients. A couple of times, my friends have said he was on halt for newbies. I can totally understand that. This man is busy. Did I mention he's awesome? My only complaint would be for the building he is in. He's on the 3rd floor of a very busy complex. The parking sucks. Especially when you are lugging your whole clan through the parking lot. The spots are small, and made for compact cars. Kinda hard to park your mom van. Also, for some reason, they are always renovating so the elevators can be a little creepy with the blankets hanging around to protect the mirrors. But whatevs! We would go through a dark alley in east Austin to see Dr. Thiel! read more

I'm convinced that Dr. Thiel and his team are the best pediatric dentistry office in the world. Granted, I have never been anywhere else. But I am an extremely discerning parent when it comes to my child's healthcare, (or anything related to him for that matter.) To that effect, I tried four different pediatricians before landing on ours (Dr. Tarrant at Lake Austin Pediatrics). I found Dr. Thiel on yelp and for our first visit they were scheduled five months out. I don't know about you, but this is a great sign in my book. We have since become regulars and my son always looks forward, (yes he is EXCITED for the dentist) every visit. The office is spotless, the staff is marvelous. They take extra time before even asking the kids to open their mouths to converse and laugh and become comfortable and at ease in the chair. Dr. Thiel himself is a very competent and trustworthy doctor, I would recommend him to anyone. We found Dr. Thiel on Yelp, and he's just as good as everyone say he is! The office is nice and clean with video games and a train table; the staff is friendly and professional; Dr. Thiel himself is the nicest guy. Every visit has been trauma-free, and my daughter actually looks forward to going to the dentist!
