I and a neighbor hired Mike with Thermal Alliance for an A/C install on already ducted homes (new builds 2011). We started this process in mid-April 2016 after having another installer not being able to do the project. We received great recommendations but, after MONTHS of delays, most often due to very poor communication with the installer, Mike, we had our installation completed in SEPTEMBER 2016. We went through the hottest months of the year without A/C again. We had delay after delay due to initial permits not covering the initial plans and having to move to a roof install for the project. Mike was slow on the uptake to get necessary documents to the HOA, which were required prior to starting the project. We had to get special engineering done to cover the roof install instead of outdoor install, which delayed another three weeks. After 3 months, the plans were finally completed and then the new permit was obtained July 27, 2016. Three months after we started the project. Yes, we did have to have special meetings, which took place BEFORE the permit was obtained to get the go-ahead from the HOA. But after all the permits were received, certificates exchanged with the HOA manager, the project "started" and "stopped" so many times it made our heads spin. We had delay after delay because Mike took on other projects in the middle of our project. I contacted several other A/C install companies over the interval and was told that with the existing duct work, it would take 4 days tops after engineering was done. Well, our "4 days" sprouted legs and walked clear through the summer, until the second week of September. Insane amount of time, mostly due to the fact that Mike would not answer calls, texts, emails, etc. We would wait days only to hear "Oh, I'm working on the boats." We don't care about some other project he's taken on, he's supposed to finish ours. It was one of the most frustrating contractor issues I have ever encountered. He had paperwork for months but shows up at my door at 6:55AM wanting me to sign something. Really? Ever heard of prior proper planning? Evidently not. We hounded him for months on end to get this project done, every time another excuse as to why he couldn't come, or "I'll be there on Saturday," and he never showed up.
He was paid three deposits by me during this long, drawn out process, and on the day the inspector showed up to do the final inspection, he wanted his money that minute, or he'd send me to collection. Really? Nice work, Mike. Nice.
I would not recommend this particular contractor to ANY ONE! read more
