Mountain View is becoming trendy!! I completely missed seeing Therapy moving into downtown MTV, but I am so glad there are here! On my way to a recent lunch date, I walked past the store front and the cutest pair of wedge shoes in the window caught my eye. Then I looked up and saw the store had moved in and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't have time then to stop in, so I rushed through my lunch and walked back. I'm glad I did! Therapy has a cute and hip selection of handbags, clothes, shoes (!!) and other trendy items for personal or home decoration. I didn't have much time to peruse the whole store, but I will be back! Cheaply made cute clothes, modern furniture and knick-knacks, and eclectic stationery. I was very drawn to Therapy - the selection is fascinating, and the store is fun to peruse. However, I didn't find anything to buy. I would be happy to buy some nice clothes at reasonable prices - everything seemed so cheaply made that I couldn't see myself wearing it. Lots of polyester, clothes that look crumply on the rack, weird prints, and cuts that are almost cute, if only they weren't so... wrong. I'd rather put my money into fabric quality, and quality of cut and construction than keeping up with the trends and getting something scratchy and weird fitting. I did like the mix of stationery and the cool furniture. I'm not sure I could see myself buying any of it though. More like a museum of kitschy cool urban stuff than stuff I would actually want to own. Fun to browse, not worth the time for actual shopping needs. Perhaps the Urban Outfitters fan would enjoy purchasing from this shop? (Large chains I prefer include Anthropologie, Banana Republic, even Target...) read more

It is the perfect place to go when you are looking for a gift for someone but just don't' know what to get. They have everything. Even better they have a nice selection of fun, and interesting cards. I've been in love with Therapy for years, but I've never had the right combination of money, confidence, and fashion sense to make a purchase--until tonight. I went in on an impulse after going down two pant sizes and wasn't looking for anything in particular. One of the employees, whose name I think is Sarah, asked if she could get a room started for me--a courtesy that's completely normal for Therapy. Sarah ended up helping me find my first LBD, a cardigan, and heels, and supplied some great conversation and honest, enthusiastic feedback on every outfit I tried on. Again, this is call completely run of the mill for Therapy: every single employee is extremely friendly, polite, and enthusiastic about their jobs and helping customers. Therapy has my love and devotion. Someday I'll make enough money to become their preeminent patron! read more

Visit to the store a few weeks ago was pretty lackluster. Therapy seems to be cheapening the quality of the products they order, but I can get past that - everything still seems to be relatively fairly priced. What really rubbed me the wrong way was the attitude the white female employee with the colored hair had - didn't catch her name. She came off very brash, and didn't seem to understand that while some customers enjoy having salespeople help them, being overly assertive isn't the way to go. It felt a little like I couldn't shop in peace. Didn't like the way she added things to my dressing room door after I told her I didn't need help and without running it by me, other than a "Here, I tacked these on for you." I didn't feel comfortable in the store. Work on your employee training, Therapy! read more

This place sells lots of neat stuff! Gift items like books, houseware and souvenirs and then fashion items like jewelry, watches, purses, shoes, dresses, and hats for both men and women. The style of clothing is also very up to date and prices for clothing are similar to prices at urban outfitters (so a tad pricey but a lot of the stuff is unique). I saw jeffrey cambell shoes there that I fell in love with but sadly they were over 100$. They had a cool cookie and sandwich purse and lots of cool nixon watches for guys. They recently added a really cute photo booth for 5 dollars that has very unique themes (including Galaxy cats). You can definitely find some really cool and awesome items here especially if you're shopping for gifts. They have a lot of clothing selections from tops and dresses and unique socks. However their items can be a bit on the pricey side so make sure you have money or card. Enjoy! read more

This store is awesome! Great unassuming place with cheap trendy clothing (kinda anthropologie-ish/urban outfitter-ish but cheaper), lots of cute handbags and hats... There's a bunch of random stuff that would make great gifts (very much like how Urban Outfitters has a bunch of random crap). I love that they carry Paul Frank stuff and Angry Little Girls stuff. I love little knick-knack shops such as this where you can find random Japanese imports that boggle you upon first sight. There are some cards and notes from one of my favorite sites (www.knockknock.com, you're welcome). On top of stationery, there's apparel, jewelry, handbags and shoes in he back. Doctor's order: YOU NEED MORE THERAPY!! Absolutely love this shop! The home decor; trinkets, clocks, wall art and dishware are so funky and hip. I've found some really great items here. You just never know what you'll stumble upon and that's what I love. Every time I visit it's a new and fun experience. Love the clothes too. Although, most of the tops and dresses that I love are a bit out of my price range. I still love browsing and checking out all the different styles. Appreciate how they have the clothes color coordinated. Oh and don't even get me started on the jewelry! The staff are always happy to assist or make helpful suggestions. This store is awesome!!! Not only do they carry various stuffs like funny post-its, things for the kitchen and home, but super cute clothes and accessories! They even have cute hats and funny socks. I love their selection of funny post-its and cute posters for the home. In addition, their clothing selection ranges from super cute dresses to hip blouses. I just went recently and their loved the clothes on sale, sadly though they didn't have my size. But I did find a dress for $9.99 - SCORE! It was originally $19.99, but since it had a little tear and it was the last one in my size -- I was able to purchase it even more discounted! Props to the sales gal who helped me and gave me this price, she was even helpful in accessorizing this said dress. I appreciated her customer service. Finally a place to shop for clothes while waiting for your dinner reservations. A fun shop in the midst of a bunch of restaurants. This place is very cute and trendy. Their merchandise range from home decor to gifts to shoes to clothing. Their clothing also range from affordable pieces to more high end items. At times, they do have sales. The configuration of the store is a bit messy and rifling through the clothes can be a bit intense. They have nice dressing rooms though. I would recommend stopping in and taking a look. Even if you don't buy anything, just going in and taking a look around is worth the visit. read more

After eating dinner at Vaso Azzurro Ristorante, my best friend and I decided walk on Castro Street. We came across Therapy, and I was so excited to see the store! This store is a lot larger than the Therapy on Grant Avenue in SF. There is space to put a couple sofas in the middle of the store. Anyway, everything is super cute in this store! There are more greeting cards, clothes, and knick knacks. I refrained to purchase anything, but I did spend some time browsing through the greeting cards and the books. read more

good variety of selection for different styles.. prices were still within my budget ($30-$70).. bought a cashmere scarf for $24 and a really cool jacket for $78.. I recommend guys to this location, but for girls... you might like the store in Burlingame better since they are the only store I've found to have more discounted items.. The store in SF was bigger and more selection and there was also a separate store next door for furnitures.. Update 3/10/07: Got myself a pair of shoes here today for really cheap ($30ish w/ tax)... love the salesgirl there... she was really friendly and nice.. I'm glad that they have more sale items here now, the selection for girls are still better in the city and Burlingame. My love for Therapy has been reaffirmed because they are one of the few retailers that carry RuMe bags and Envirosax, my two favorite lines of reusable shopping bags. Both are very roomy, very sturdy, and machine washable, and come in stylish prints and colors, and fold down to almost nothing, so you can always keep one in your purse or pocket. I really need to come here other than on my lunch break from work so I have more time to look shop! There are very trendy items here for both personal and gifts. And by trendy items, I don't mean the kind that you see on everyone walking down the street. They have individuality! Two reasons for the update - 1) the owner/manager of the store actually contacted me after I wrote my review and asked for some suggestions on how I would better organize things... totally not in an offensive manner either. It seemed as if they genuinely wanted my input. Brownie points!!! & 2) went in the other day to look for a thick black belt for this dress I bought (somewhere else, sorrryyy), but I ended up leaving with three dresses - and of course a black belt. The girl/lady/woman aka cool chica who helped me was uber sweet and helpful. She didn't push items on me, but rather offered her opinions. She helped me button a dress in the back (since I was shopping solo), she was on the ball and so nice she made my teeth hurt! ;) Not to mention - she was stylin... lovin the tan fedora she was sportin! All in all - uber organized or not, this place is a can't miss, no lose spot. Like I said - went in for belt knowing I would find it... the only problem is that I always seem to find so much more! The staff is very helpful - throwing together outfits for you - and they don't pressure you into purchasing. This is one of my "go to" stores when I need an outfit for a night out or a special occasion. Most of the store is moderately price, with some expensive items as well. SALES! Finally found another boutique to shop, that's close to restaurants galore. Perfect place to burn off that gelato or pearl tea after dinner or lunch. Came waddling in after a good meal, and found lots of goodies. Everyone is helpful and not pushy, which I love. Tons of selections, mostly sectioned off by color or sleeve length (very handy when you're looking for something specific). Lots of selection = not too many sizes. I'm always trying stuff on since I wear almost any size. Lots of guy stuff too so the man won't be bored if he tags along. I always seem to have the best luck when I'm not looking to shop. But when I come here on a mission to spend some dough, I never find anything. Word to the wise - come here on a random day and you find tons of cute stuff! read more

I heart Therapy :) These types of specialized boutique-y stores is not new to me since my hometown (Portland, OR) has so many of these eclectic shops. I wish I can find more of these trendy boutiques in the South Bay... but that's beside the point..... I heart Therapy for several reasons: 1. Cute knick-knacks & fun gag gifts 2. small but selective collection of jewelry (mainly earrings, rings, necklaces and some bracelets) 3. Boutique-y clothing that "no-one-has-but-me" kinda styles (Zara meets Urban Outfitters) 4. reminds me of Portland 5. Organized store layout 6. Friendly staff and service They have a lot of cute clothing, but it can be pretty pricey. There are clothes on sale, which is always appreciated; but if you're not looking to splurge on boutique prices, then redirect your attention to the gifts & knick-knack sections... This a really great little store with quite an assortment of items. They have everything from clothing to candles to kitchen gadgets to jewelry. A great place to pick up a gift. They also have a great selection of unique cards which is a nice change from what you will find at your local drugstore. The only drawback is that these cards average at around $5 each. As with the cards, there are a few other items that are definitely overpriced, but there is such an assortment of different items that you can almost always find something that you like within your budget. They also have a great little Local table with all SF and Bay Area related stuff. A great place to take visitors if they are not into getting souvenirs at touristy places. read more

Uberfunky San Francisco vibe brought right to your local Mountain View downtown. "Therapy" offers hipster clothing, edgy gifts, jewelry, etc. They offer a Jesus action figure. The first time I visited the store, I got lost. There wasn't a store sign outside the store saying "Therapy". (I was introduced to this store through an associate of this store who told me about it while I was working). I've only been here twice. It's like an Urban Outfitters, but not quite. They sell furniture, clothes (men and women), home decoratives, stuff for little kids, jewelry, books, bags, hats, shoes, cards for all occassions, postcards, magnets, etc. There's just so many interesting things in this store. One of the associates told me that they sell local artists/designers and brand name items. :D Good combination. They've got so many nifty/hilarious knick-knacks; the store is just so interesting. Their customer service is pretty good as well. So... if you ever find yourself strolling around Castro St. or feel the need to find a store out of the ordinary, Therapy is the place to go. read more

This store is bigger than the one in Burlingame so it's more spacious but I almost wish they have more stuff. One con: it's HOT in there! There's no air conditioning and the floor fans just don't cut it so beware of the heat while shopping. They have cute stuff at reasonable price so I'm glad they are spreading out... Pricing is NOT the same - some stuff that were marked down in Burlingame were still sellng at full price here. read more

Thank God for Therapy opening in Downtown Mountain View! I remember eating dinner at Shiva's last October and taking a walk down Castro with my date and so pleasantly surprised to find that this cute boutique had just opened. It is now my one stop for quirky gifts and adorable accessories and digs. The girls working there are super-friendly and helpful-recently one of them very graciously gave me a discount on some display shoes that I have been eyeing for a few months to go on sale-Thank you again! I love cruising their sales racks..sometimes you can find "defective" items like the dress with the broken zipper I got this summer and easily fix them...it was about 25% off and all I had to do was sew on a new zipper... I wonder if they'll have their after-Xmas sale again this year? PS. I also really like that they play Satellite radio in there-I'm a big fan of Sirius... read more

I got some great big animal adhesives for my little girls room, she loves it and it's like putting wall paper up in the room, but with no commitment! Also, they have unrecognizable-to-me brands, cute, trendy clothes for both sexes- - reasonably priced. They also have cute little knick-knacks...gum, jewelry, stickers, cards, vintage signs, home decor, hats.. etc.. I have decided to add a star onto their rating simply because of their excellent excellent EXCELLENT customer service. I stopped in recently and found the cutest, warmest hoodie ever. I was meeting up a friend soon for dinner so I didn't have time to buy it and I figured I could come back a day or two later. I called them after 2 days and asked if they still had the hoodie I saw and the girl told me they did not but offered to look for it at another one of their locations and she would call me back. I figured she might forget or maybe take a while to call back because she was probably busy with something but sure enough, about 2 or 3 minutes after we had hung up the phone with each other, the same girl (I think her name was Lisa) called back and said another store had it in my size and it would be transferred to their store by Friday or Saturday for me to pick up!!! I had already thought their customer service was great before, but now I think its stellar. read more

This is my favorite store in the whole wide world! I went to school in San Luis Obispo where I first discovered Therapy and all my friends worked there so they would always pick out things I would like when I would come into the store. After I graduated I never thought that any of the other Therapy stores would become as comfortable or as loving as my SLO store. After Heather started managing the Mountain View store full time that is when the MV store really started to change for me. Of course I was shy and nervous my first time coming to this location and wondering how it would be since I didn't know any of the staff. But I soon fell in love with most of the staff especially Alysa, Heather, and Ellen. They are the sweetest girls in the whole world and they all have the best style. They know exactly what I like and what they think will look good on me. This is extremely helpful for me as I get self conscious sometimes and will refuse to try things on until they encourage me to just "try it." Then of course I end up falling in love with everything and spending a ridiculous amount of money here. I have a love/hate relationship with this store. I love it because it's easy for me and I don't even have to worry about not finding something that I will like. I hate it because I am trying to save money but I can never leave the store without buying something. All my coworkers love the clothes I wear and know that pretty much everything I buy will be inevitably from Therapy. I love love love this store and encourage every female I know to go here. They have all the brands I love like Free People, Kensie, Tulle, Solemio, Collective Clothing, etc....You must go here NOW!!! read more

Therapy deserves 4 stars based off if its merchandise but gets 5 because of the location and its awesome workers! (Shout out to Marisol who endured 4 hours of 'does this look good?') I love Therapy. Everybody loves Therapy. And in today's messed up conditions we all NEED Therapy. I love that it is located right in the center of downtown Mountain View on Castro. That means I can stuff my face full of yummy food and NOT fit into anything or I can shop up an appetite and hop a few blocks over for some yummy food. I used to work on Castro so I have a special place in my heart for stores that aren't restaurants. It's nice to see a retail store that caters more to the younger crowds. There's another clothing store across the street but it's stuff is a bit more mom like if you catch my drift. Definitely nice, but not my cup of tea. I remember the glory days of Therapy when they used to have a $9.99 rack. I got the sweetest Paul Frank romper. The brands they carry vary and prices can be rather steep. But if you search around long enough you're bound to find something in your price range that works. What I love the most about Therapy is that their stuff isn't the generic off the shelf Forever 21 regurgitated crap that everyone and their grandma wears. I've found some of my favorite coats and jackets here and also really really nice dresses that have just the right amount of uniqueness to them. The only downsides are that things can get pricey and that there are no restrooms unless you are obviously super preggos. But fortunately there is Red Rock across the street and you can use their facilities. No cash returns. Only exchange or store credit that never expires. Love this store! It offers retail therapy like no other boutique. It feels like an Urban Outfitters, but without the clutter and getting lost in endless racks. I love the unique selection of shoes, accessories and clothing.
