This is like a cooler, local, more intimate Urban Outfitters. A lot less cheesy hipster kids pretending they're too cool to shop at Urban Outfitters while they are actually shopping there. Lots of fun and random things to check out. Some family appropriate, some I had to tell my little ninja to not look at. Plenty or funny gifts, cards, quirky home decor, and clothes to check out. They're very business intelligent so they know there's plenty of yuppies and randoms walking around at later hours after dinner on a weekend evening and will slide through. Great place to walk with a date because plenty of random things to laugh at and check out. read more

A better Urban Outfitters. The knick knacks are better. The quality of their clothing is better. Therapy is a way better Urban Outfitters. Although their selection isn't as wide as UO, I always manage to purchase something from there that I love. They sell Nixon watches, Hobo wallets, and other great knick knacks. Great place to come to browse (and spend some money) after some food on Castro. The customer service is always helpful and wanting to help you find your size. Wanted a skirt, and they didn't have my size so they found in their other store and had it shipped - no obligation, no extra fees. AWESOME. They get new items more often than not too. I LOVE Therapy, but after coming to this store I have to say I prefer the Campbell location better. I never walk out of Therapy empty-handed and it felt like I had to really search for something at the Mountain View store. I was pleasantly surprised to find this hip boutique in Mountain View... but, I do hear that techies are getting even more chic then ever ;) But for real, they have a friendly, helpful staff and very cute, affordable apparel and home goods for men and women. They offer super trendy styles and a selection that falls somewhere between Urban Outfitters and Ambiance with a great sale rack. Overall this was a lovely experience and I'm so glad to finally have one place I would actually want to shop at - and can also afford - near my hood. read more

Great clothes! I find that the clothes here are a mix of urban outfitters, shops on haight st in the city, and nordstorms. Basically I've seen brands from all three of these places represented at Therapy (i.e. Flying Tomatoes, Jeffrey Campbell, Elliot Lucca, Obey, Coffeeshop, Free People, Seychelles, and a bunch of others I can't remember or have never heard of). I come here every time i come to Mountain View. Cute little store with clothes that you can't really get anywhere else, reasonable prices. I got a dress today for $60 and that's one of the more expensive item. Little cute items that you cant help but buy... like today... I bought a tin of bacon mints and bacon jelly beans. I LOVE THERAPY!! Their clothes are cute (and surprisingly, I find things for my not so tall & lanky frame...), their jewelry is handmade and on-trend, their housewares are fun to browse, they bag your items in a reusable tote bag, etc etc etc. The employees are helpful and nice to talk to--not pushy at all. I was SO surprised when I went in last week and the entire store was 40% off!!!! I spent like $200 dollars...unexpected dollars. Ok.. I've never actually bought anything here, but it's pretty cool stuff. The fact that they have very little or no decorations, or attempt to be "commercial" is pretty cool. They have alot of whacky, off the wall stuff, funny magnets, calendars etc. I could definitely see doing quite a bit of home decorating with this kinda place, but at the same time, a single or one-off piece not fit in so well. You'd think that trendy boutiques wouldn't have any good deals, but I went to Therapy last month and they were having a killer sale where everything in their store was 40% off! I remember shopping there and hearing customers walking in and asking the workers if their store was closing down. The sales associates said that they were just trying to get rid of inventory so that they can make room for their spring line. Anyway, I love all their clothing and especially their selection of bags. There were a few cute ones, but the original price for them was over $200, so even with 40% off, you'd be paying over $100 for a bag that you might not necessarily need. It's a fun place to walk around and browse through by yourself or with your friends. I like the random items that they have in front of the store, including their selection of quirky magnets, posters, cards, and books. If you're into the urban feel, then this is the place to be. read more

When you're in need of retail THERAPY, you need to visit this place! It has everything from furniture and jewelry to purses and dresses. They even have kids clothes and greeting cards! Need I say more? What's great about shopping for clothes at Therapy is that they don't carry a huge bulk of each item which means, they're more one-of-a-kind pieces and you can be assured that you'll be the only one at the wedding (bbq, birthday party, reunion) with that outfit on. The only suggestion I have for them is to post the hours at the entrance of the store. My sister and I pranced in before closing (without knowing since the website had different hours posted) only to receive dirty looks from an employee. We even heard her say, "Why don't they just move in." Good thing the other woman was nice. Well, we'd love to move-in and have Therapy for a closet if we could, lady! Therapy is my go-to place for a cute party outfit. I can always count on them to have a cute dress or top for around $35-55. The Mountain View store is pretty big; 85% womens clothing, accessories, and shoes, 5% mens clothing, and 10% home decor and gifts. They definitely have a mix of expensive (Betsy Johnson, Obey, Free People, etc) and reasonably priced boutique items. Don't have your size on hand? The staff is really good about calling other stores and getting items transferred at no additional cost. read more

I finally managed to check out the Therapy on Castro- I usually go to the one in Campbell. The ladies working there were really friendly and I like how they give you their honest opinion on what looks good and not so good on you. It's like having a personal shopper. There are many small finds at this store, and usually it depends on your luck, but I was lucky enough to find 2 dresses-- both at reasonable prices! I can't wait for the weather to warm up even more so I can wear them! They're in the midst of remodeling-- hopefully they'll get some more cute stuff for their store! read more

I usually make the effort to stop by this store whenever i'm in Downtown Mt.View. It's like Urban Outfitters, but less hipster-ish. It has things for practically anyone and the stuff in there are always fun to look around. They have things from random gag gifts, aroma therapy, interior decoration, and reasonably(ish) priced clothes. Customer service there is especially sweet and accommodating. One person immediately set me up with a fitting room and she also marked down the price of a blouse after she personally saw that there was a stain on it. I didn't even need to ask! Plus, I love the candle selection they have there. Olfactory senses were definitely satisfied. What's pretty cool about this place is their fabric shopping bags, opposed to paper bags. She was awesome and arranged to have a new bag ready for me at their closer store in Campbell. Got a call a two days later and picked up my new bag! I've been to the locations in SF and Burlingame and had good experiences in their stores. The MV location exceeded my expectations! The items were great and the staff was so friendly and helpful. I had to order a pair of boots since they ran out of my size. Upon my return to pick up the boots, all the staff in the store shared my giddiness for my new boots (which I wore out of the store)! Monica, the one who ordered my boots, was actually in the store on her day off and took the time to come up to me and remembered our conversation from the previous week. This impressed me. To surpass this great customer service, she called me the next day because she realized that I qualified for a discount and that I can come back to the store to get money back! Let me just say, I am making this store a regular stop. All the staff members I encountered were genuine and appeared to enjoy what they were doing. Every visit is a great experience. read more

Yay for a great gift shopping option on Castro St. without the hippie/newage bent of Global Beads or East/West. It's like Urban Outfitters but with attentive, helpful service and a clean, neat store! Wonderful selection of tchotchkes for little token gifts or present-toppers; their fridge magnet collection is hilarious, their hats & bags selection is surprisingly large, there's a good range of funky wallets, jewelry, and other accessories, and they've got great "alternative" kids' stuff ('ugly dolls,' etc.). There are even couches, rugs, clocks, and funky sculptures; plus books, shoes, and greeting/gift cards. In general, you'll see lots of Paul Frank items, Seatbelt bags, San Diego Hat Co. stuff, and very trendy cute clothing (esp. for ladies). The clothing is a bit pricey, but the sale rack is a great place to start first. And I don't mind paying a little more for an organized store that's a small, local chain. The sales staff really makes this store work -- they'll do all the things you *wish* you could expect from other salespeople, like volunteer to call other stores to look for other sizes, call you back if they can't find out stocking info right away, and start you a dressing room without you even having to ask. Overall, it's a fabulous addition to the character of Castro Street. Stop in and buy something to support this store's presence! read more

I like Therapy...in all its locations. It's varied selection of accessories, shoes, clothes, cards, and cute and clever gift objects is a go-to place for finding something fun and trendy. The clothes are priced reasonably, particularly for trendy items that are not meant to be in the closet forever. The staff at the Mtn View and Campbell locations are very friendly, without being too obtrusive. I first stumbled upon this store while taking a class at Eddie's Quilting Bee when it was still in Mt. View. I adore this store. It's a boutique, local version of Urban Outffitters. It reminds me of boutiques that line Haight-Ashbury, but with much more accessible parking. They carry items from local/small businesses that make the entire experience even more unique. There are high end purses that can range from $200-up but you can also get bargains on their shoes and clearance racks. If you're looking for a quirky knick-knack gift, this is a good first stop. They even carry home stuff like plates. The best customer experience? There was one girl in the fitting room who obviously did not go there with a friend. One of the salesgirls were obligingly helping her and giving opinionated feedback. The other sales people were going about their business AND giving feedback at the same time, which sometimes is not an easy thing to do. My favorite part? They weren't giving useless advice, but actually discussing proportion, fit, and other things you consider when you're shopping. They were giving her constructive criticism, NOT telling her that everything looked amazing on her. It was the kind of experience you could have with a trusted friend. Not only are they nice, they will offer to check their other locations for items without excessive prompting. Personally, I'm not a big fan salespeople following and bothering me. I go into this kooku store every Friday night after my shift is over. I love it, its the best way to relax at the end of a week for me. I always buy at least something small. They have a big range of clothes and styles and its one of the few places I know that have sizes to really fit me. The rest of the stuffs in the store is kind of a junk, which is funny to look at, but makes me a bit sad later. A big waste of plastic. The staff are nice, mostly and honest (if you try on something looks not so good they will tell you). They have helped in other ways too; last semester I was stuck with a science paper due, and one of the assistants noticed I looked kind of stressed and asked what was wrong. When I told her she suggested i watch bryan greene's TED talks on string theory; it helped a lot. (not about clothes i know but still.) Lately there's been a really cute australian (I think) boy in there everytime I go in. At first I imagined he worked there, but the store assistant said she didn't know him and asked if he was bothering me. Anyway, another reason to keep going back! :) read more

I am a little embarrassed by how much I love this place. Was randomly killing some time before a show at Shoreline on Castro street in Mountain View and walked past this place. I did a double take and wondered if it was related to the store in SF of the same name. I now know that it is, part of a small set of seven stores focusing on cool clothing, accessories, and housewares for the modern cool kid. Used to shop in the SF store in the Mission years ago, nice to see them doing well and keeping things fresh. I've been to the one in Bgame and like it so I wanted to check this one out since it's a much larger space. Love love love, nearly everything in this store. Within like 2 minutes I snagged an adorable pink address book and Hubster found a delightful book called "Penis Pokey" Great selection of shoes, handbags and hats (nearly bought a hat and 3 pairs of shoes). Much larger selection of clothes than the Bgame store but the prices seem higher. Found a couple shirts for Hubster but they were $60+! Did snag a cute Paul Frank tank top for $9.99 though :) Lots of cool, neat, interesting houseware nick nacky stuff like clocks and picture frames and rubber duckies. The gal who rang me up was real nice and friendly and had some killer music playing in the store. Can't wait to go back, although my wallet may say otherwise. read more

This store kills my wallet, because I want to buy everything when I'm in there, but it is absolutely worth it. I really like this particular location a lot.... it's spacious and awesome and nicely lit. The employees are rad. One of my best friends, Andrew, wanted to buy a dress for his wife. Unfortunately, because it was going to be a surprise, he couldn't ask for her specific measurements. Nika, a sales associate, happens to be shaped very similarly to Andrew's wife, and she happily agreed to try on dresses for Andrew so he could see how they fit. Seriously, that's SERVICE! I ended up buying myself over $100 worth of things, because the dresses are currently ALL 30% off, and I found an amazing Native American beaded necklace, and cute earrings, and something Star Wars-related for my boyfriend, and... You'll smell like a hipster leaving this place. If you pack enough bills, you will leave looking like one. It's fun just to check out the cutesy, funny and quirky things they have. You'll often be in for a surprise because they rotate new items regularly. Very nice and down-to-earth employees. They offered 10% off of their last triceratops fossil ice tray when I pointed out something seemed to be a very minor imperfection in the product. I also bought a cute squirrel-shape pen for the white elephant gift exchange. Overall it's an interesting store with very nice employees. read more

Let's just face it, all of us at one time or another needed some sort of therapy but when it comes to us girls, we tend to turn to a different form of it, especially, when we're really down and feeling not like are usual selves. This store provides us with reasonably priced and unique clothing brands such as Honey Punch, Essley and Naked Zebra! What a cute store and I LOVE that they're open late at night! We were strolling by when we came across this place and walked in. Has a boutique store feel. It's a great place to find unique things for the house, gifts, accessories, and to find some cute clothes. Even has stuff for guys. I found a few items to try on and the friendly staff helped me with a fitting room. She saw the dresses I picked out and even grabbed me a pair of matching color heels to try on with it. Since it has a boutique store feel, you get the urge to buy the clothes here thinking they are one-of-a-kind, but I was slightly concerned that they may be overly priced yet low quality. The dress that I ended up buying was a little pricey, but when I got home, I noticed that the dress was made in USA, which is very rare to find these days so I felt that it was worth it. Therapy always has an incredibly cute selection of clothes, jewelry, accessories, and stationery. When I need a gift, I can always find something here. It's a small chain (I think there are six or seven stores total, all in the Bay Area) and I like that the items they carry are often handmade instead of mass-produced. In terms of price and style of clothing, Therapy's selection is pretty similar to Urban Outfitters. I haven't bought any clothes here, so I can't comment on durability, but the pieces available tend to be quite trendy. This location on Castro Street has some really cute furniture and household goods displayed near the front of the shop; if I had my own place I imagine I'd be dropping money left and right here! Customer service is spot-on here. The staff is really good about greeting customers, and if you need something they'll get it for you quickly! But they don't follow you around or use high pressure sales tactics to part you from your cash, and I really appreciate that. read more

The boutique and unique products offered in this store is similar to urban outfitters; however, I appreciate the smaller selection of products because it actually makes it easier to find things that I actually end up loving and walking out the store with. The thing I love the most about Therapy are the ladies who work at the store! They are always so helpful with tips and extremely pleasant to chat with. Minus one star because of the high prices. You are definitely paying a premium for the design and the quality is only average. Some items I would prefer purchasing from Nordstrom for quality with similar design. Exactly how long have I been living under a rock and missed this cute little un-Mountain View-ish of a store?? It's cute and has plenty of nifty gifts. Great place to browse around and check out the little goodies. Like most places selling entertaining knick knakcs, they aren't cheap, but if you need your shot of knick knacks to crack you up on a gloomy day, this is your destination. Everyone knows that one person who always looks so put together -- from the shoes, to the shirt, to the bag, to the accessories... No one likes this person. But now, YOU can be this person with the delicious digs at Therapy. I love this store and can't go in without wanting 5 new things every time I visit. They have the best selection of dresses, so many cute tops, skirts, unique accessories, a nice selection of shoes and lots of drool-worthy bags. Oh and they also have boy clothes, cards, trinkets and furniture. The clothing style is hip, fresh and funky ... sorta like Urban Outfitters meets Anthropolgie but in a boutique-like setting. Everything is decently priced with tops ranging from $28-$48, dresses from $42-$89, and jackets from $60-$120. I hate to break the 4 and 5 star reviews but I was not impressed with this store. Heard about this place through a friend of mine who bought a pair of cute boots but when I walked into this place, I didn't feel excitement as I typically would when I walked into a new place of such fun things to browse and see. The line of women clothes were cute but nothing stood out for me to want to try on. They had cute hats but not much variety. I guess I already criticized this place b/c I know SF boutiques in the Haight and on Union street would have plenty of selected items and gorgeousness about them. I think the magnets and art cards/postcards they have displayed are cool. But even that didn't excite me much. Cool place to stop by and browse but not much that stood out for me to buy. read more
