I wanted a new home theater installed. I asked yelp to send my project information and selected 3 companies for a quote. One company didn't even show up for the appointment to put together a quote. Another company came and let me know that my current system was good enough and I did not need an upgrade. The third company came out and a few days later gave me a quote with several errors. Like he charged me full retail for an amp that was selling for 1,000 below retail everywhere I checked and he forgot to include the center channel speaker. So, I contacted Theater Xtreme. Sounds of fighter jets, 80's background music, and some celebrity named Tom Cruise in a small little movie called Top Gun, rattled the furniture, and shook the neighbors after Brian installed our surround sound system. After having three different quotes including those Geeks over at Best Buy $8,000.00 quotes and some young kids stating they "think they can do it" was just not going to happen. Reached out to Brian and was able to schedule him to come out within a week. Some might calls us crazy but after purchasing a new construction home we completely ripped out the fireplace and decided to do a statement wall with rock, channeling our inner HGTV stars. We needed Brian and his team to hang up the TV and was a bit nervous because the rock put up is made out of foam. One wrong installer trying to hang the mount and it would have crushed my soul more than a teenager upset about the wrong color they received on their car for a 16th birthday. Brian showed up on time for his quote and scheduled out the install for 2 weeks later. He was extremely knowledgeable in every brand, sound quality options, and had no worries about installing the mount with the rock. This guy even pulled a little printer out of his brief case and printed his quote right there! In addition to the TV mount we also purchased all the speakers from him. Everything turned out great and sounded flawless not to mention his pricing came a lot more reasonable than others. 5 Martin Logan speakers and subwoofer, Marantz receiver, and a TV mount. The install only took about 4 1/2 hours to complete. He walked through everything in detail on how to use the complete system. Theatre Xtreme was very professional. They set up the initial appointment and were right on time for the appt. During that appointment Bryan went over all the options for our home theatre install and the pros and cons of each option. We got the things ordered and set up the install date. Couple of days before the install day Bryan called me and walked me through what to expect. On the day of the install Bryan came with the installers Eugene and another gentleman (sorry I forgot the name) and did a walk through. The install was very professional and they intermittently cleaned up not leaving any mess and covered up all furniture. We just had our home theater installed this past Friday and they did an amazing job. I can't believe how incredible both audio and video are. They guys at Theater Xtreme really know their stuff. I did do my own homework before and after consulting with these guys and I will tell you, for the cost of the equipment alone, I would not have saved any money and keep in mind I was comparing like for like equipment based on what we felt would be best for our home theater. Of course you could do it yourself and buy equipment that is not offered at Theater Xtreme that might be less expensive, I just felt better knowing exacty what I was getting, "test driving" it at there place as opposed to hoping what your getting by saving some $$ will be as good. Installation is expensive, but their installer was done in about 6 hours or so, he was very good, very clean and professional looking job. Not a very transparent company and even worse treatment if you use them for the ideas and dont follow through with the transaction. They will not install your own equipment. They only discount equipment IF you finance with them. We had Brian and his team ready to go until I made a decision that was best for me and my family for the equipment. We recently moved into the area and were looking for someone to set up our sound system including a new TV and new speakers inside and out. I originally contacted three companies, including Theater Xtreme. The other two companies returned my calls to find out what I needed but even though they said they could do what we wanted, they failed to call again to even set up an appointment to meet with us. Well, actually I received a call just yesterday from one of the other two companies checking on whether we still needed the work done - 3 weeks after my original call and 1 week after Theater Xtreme completed the installation! You don't need all the details but suffice to say that Brian showed up on time, listened to our wants/needs, and explained our options. He couldn't have been nicer - answering all of our questions and making sure we understood exactly what they could do for us. Based on our meeting with Brian we felt completely confident in choosing Theater Xtreme to complete our installation. They showed up on the scheduled date and worked tirelessly on getting the job done. They worked efficiently and kept things cleaned up as they went along. Once finished, Eugene walked us through a demo and answered all of our questions. We absolutely LOVE the results. We have 3 different zones and we were immediately able to not only use the equipment but were able to switch between zones or combine zones with a just a touch on the remote or on our phones. This shop defines professionalism and customer service from start to finish! My wife and I walked in to their store to look around and get some ideas of what we wanted to do. There was a delightful lack of high pressure salesmen hounding us. We were free to walk around and just look at our leisure. This is GREATLY appreciated! When we did have some questions the staff was very friendly. We talked to Russ in particular. He was very knowledgeable and didn't try to blow any smoke up any of my orifices. :) I had a few ideas that I figured would become "must haves" for a proper home theater. While Russ could have agreed to that and made a bigger commission off of me, he didn't. He told me that I could do those things, or I could choose "option B" and get the same performance for less money since the room this would be going in wasn't as large as the display room they were using. Very stand up thing for him to do in my book. So after our first visit with Russ we had some good info to think over. We also set up a room survey with Russ. The room survey was really interesting. Russ came out to our house, measured out all the walls, windows, and furniture placement. He discussed several different configuration options with me of what would work best. That wrapped up the site visit. We went back in to the shop the next day and there was a detailed 3D CAD rendering of our living room with the different configurations listed for us to review. We made our choice only to see that the price fell just a little above the budget we had in mind. I didn't hesitate to let Russ know that we didn't want to spend quite that much and followed that up by asking what we could scale back on to get back in our budget. All he said was to give him a second. He then came back and said that they could move on their price to keep our desired configuration and match our desired budget. No haggling required, just someone who wanted to please the customer. Well done Russ! The install team showed up promptly at the appointment time they gave me. None of this "We'll be there between 9-12 o'clock" garbage. They said they'd be there at 10am to begin and my doorbell rang at 10am on the dot! They were well mannered and courteous. All the work was finished promptly. We're talking all in wall speakers, projector, and a HUGE screen all finished in less than a day! They did an excellent job and left the house as spotless as they found it. They also took the time to make sure I knew every last function of the system and how to access them. The system's performance is amazing and I'm beyond pleased with this experience in all aspects. I would not hesitate to recommend Theater Xtreme to anyone and everyone who is looking for a serious home theater setup. I was lucky enough to have a decent budget to spend on this, but I have no doubt they could put together a great system for you even on a tight budget. Lastly, I know this has been a novel of a review. But in my opinion an investment of this size warrants an in-depth review. That way you know what I experienced and what you can expect before you spend your hard earned money. UPDATED 3/28/10: I've made a few updates to my review based on events that have happened recently. Originally I had noted that my initial installation had some major shortcomings that I lived with since installation in 12/08. But most recently Brian got in contact with me after reading about the issues I was having. Now, please note that this is almost a year and 3 month after installation and Brian has gone above and beyond to fix the issues I'm been experiencing. He is under no obligation to do this, nor did I expect him to do this. He's told me over and over again that customer experience is important to him and here's a perfect example of where the rubber meets the road. Brain came out and met with me to talk about the issues I was having and proposed some great solutions that were not available when I had my system installed. The first issue I was having was the projector image wasn't level with the screen based on where the two were installed due to the decorator committee requirements. Brian proposed dropping the projector from inside of the ceiling. A fantastic solution that makes everyone happy and solves the image alignment problem. Second problem was the screen curl. I was told during install that it was normal and would go away. But over time it had gotten much worse. Upon seeing it, Brian said it needed to be replaced, so he put the wheels in motion to have the screen vendor replace it. Third problem was new. The blub for the projector went out and I realized, I didn't get my spare blub, so Brian provided me with two blubs! Again, above and beyond service. After the blub replacement the projector failed and needed to be replaced. Once again Brian was there to provide support and help with the vendor replacement. This puts customer service over the top for me and sets both himself and TheatreXtreme apart from many other vendors that you never heard from again once installation is complete. In looking back, would I do it all over again and would I go with Brian and Theatre Xtreme? Absolutely! Especially after seeing how Brian has stepped up and resolved those issues that were making my system less than stellar. For those thinking about Theatre Xtreme, I would highly recommend them. The whole home theater experience is amazing. I really love watching movies at home and can say with some certainity that I won't be going out to the movies any time soon. Especially with prices going up, it is definitely much better to sit in the comfort of your own home without noisy people around. Not only do movies look good, but some television material is great on a large screen. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I had my home theater installed on 12/23/08. Which in retrospect wasn't a good time to install a system. Mainly because everyone was in a rush to get out for the holidays - which I can understand. Brian and Eric worked with us to put a system together to fit into our budget and did their best to keep the overall cost within reason for us. When it comes to selecting your system, Brian and his team provide you with many options to fit your needs and budget. They will come out to review your room and will not try to up sell you on something you don't need. For example, I really wanted to go with a 7.1 system, but after looking at the room, they recommended sticking with a 5.1 system as the cost/benefit was just not there. They have their packages and recommended equipment, but you are in no way limited to that. If you are really set on a certain brand/model, they can get it for you or they can incorporate what you already have. So the flexibility is there to really work with you and customize your home system to fit, not only your home, but both yours and your family's requirements. As for installation, they did stick to their dates, and kept me posted on status. The installation team arrived on time and ready to go. Brian and Eric were both there to walk the installation team through what was suppose to be done. As requested, the installation guys did a great job of not creating a bunch of holes in my walls and kept the whole room neat and clean Overall, the whole big screen experience is fantastic. I really love watching movies at home and doubt I'll ever go to the theater again. There are a few downsides mainly around the room being too bright during the day, but that's minor. So in summary: They have good prices, good options and will work with your budget. The installation guys are good and Brian and staff are nice and helpful. Just be on top of your requirements and triple check that they are met prior to installation and if you have any special needs or requirements, verify that they can actually be met prior to putting the system in place. read more
