Breakfast poutine
Stephanie M.

Since I am a vegetarian, The Zingaro isn't my typically first choice in a food cart whenever I visit Beergarden. However, on the crisp day I wanted something deeply savory, cheesy, and loaded with carbs and their breakfast poutine checked all these boxes. I made the exception for their dill gravy being made with beef stock, my curiosity and craving was just too strong. I ordered it without bacon of course. I'm glad I made this decision because the poutine really was perfect. Two perfect fried eggs stacked on fries drenched in gravy and melty cheese curds resulting in a perfect cheese pull. This would be a perfect thing to eat after a few rounds of drinks or to consume the next morning recovering from too many rounds of drinks. This is not something to have often as it is not good for your waste line but something to enjoy once in a while as it is good for your soul.

Awesome French dips

Awesome selection of tasty treats. Chef quality food at affordable prices. Treat your tastebuds to special when visiting the Beer Garden! Try the garlic French dip or the Peruvian poppers.

Pastrami Dog with fries

Be ready to eat! The baskets are stuffed with deliciousness. Definitely for the adventurous foodie at heart! Baskets in the $10-$13 range which is reasonable for the packed in flavor you get. I've been to this cart several times without disappointment. My last visit I ventured to try the pastrami dog. It may seem like a lot of flavors with it packed on with pastrami, sauerkraut, thousand island on a hotdog but the full bite is awesome! None of these strong flavors overburden each other yet still hits you with a full taste. I also suggest a side of the aioli to go with the fries.

Cheese curds

I'm doing a pandemic covid take out review for frame of reference. This is my first experience with this establishment, I've never heard of or seen them but saw they had cheese curds and didn't skip a beat! We chose two sauces and neither were disappointing. Ranch taste unique, homemade and a great consistency. Although it had a slight twist, that was not good or bad to me, I could not put my finger on what it might be. It was a flavor that just kind of intrigued me to try it like 5 more times.. of corse. While the Carmel sauce was the sweetest, most delightful surprise. I'd have never thought of Carmel sauce and cheese but when i saw it was an option I had to give it a whirl. No disappointment. The cheese was hot, even through delivery. Tasty, portion size was reasonable. Well done!

Yum!

Ordered the Fungus Among Us (hamburger) basket with poutine fries (melted cheese curds and dill gravy topping). The flavors on the hamburger were great together, and the burger itself was hand formed very meaty and lean. The bread bun was not your regular hamburger bun; definitely an upgrade. You can eat outdoors in a covered area, but we are enjoying our meal in the Beer Garden and trying the nonalcoholic Kaliber beer made by Guinness. Really nice tasting! Full and fragrant like beer should be!

Peruvian poppers

I love the jalapeño popper burger and the cartman. The Peruvian poppers are also to die.

Veggie burger fungus style on a gluten free bun.

The staff at Zingaro are always supremely pleasant. I used to pick their brains about vegetarian options but recently had to become a huge pain in the behind due to a sudden onset of mystery food allergies. The girl at the window was amazingly kind and helpful. I ended up with the Fungus Amongus burger (my fave!) with a veggie patty on a gluten free bun. Important discovery- their fries are gluten free ! Woot woot!! The gluten free bun is solid for what it is but it can't possibly hold a candle to the Reality Kitchen buns. Those are bomb. I also used to indulge every so often with Zingaro's grilled cheese on a reality kitchen PRETZEL with a side of their soup. It was greasy for sure but salty and delicious and, well, I did use the word "indulge". You should definitely give this food truck a try the next time you find yourself at Beer Garden. It's good for meat eaters, vegetarians, and those of us sadly limiting the deliciously gluteny goodness in our lives. But ... get the "real" bun if you can!!

Zingaro

Zingaro is Italian for Gypsy. So, The Gypsy, is often traveling from place to place, peddaling their grub. We always spot this truck whenever we go over to Oakshire. The last time I visited Oakshire, I was starving and The Gypsy was hanging around. They have a decent menu, however I chose the simple Burger and Fries for $6. I wasn't too thrilled with the fries, I like mine crispy on the outside, and these were just kinda....bluh. However the burger was surprisingly good. Tasted fresh, and reminded me of a well thought out Pub burger. I seen a few people order a hot dog from here that looked rather devine. From what I remember it was wrapped in bacon as well. A hot dog wrapped in bacon? I'll sign up for a heart attack any day!! That thing is next on my list of things to try from this cart. I hope Eugene keeps seeing more food carts show up. I love the unique style these carts have been bringing to local businesses.

The Cartman
McKenzie G.

Yumm this cart has some real good comfort type food with a few 'healthier' options sprinkled in for good measure. I opted for possibly the most heart attack inducing item on the menu, the Cartman. Oh wow the Cartman! This is like the corn dog of the century. Food like this having an earthly existence is definitely one of many reasons why i am fat. ( or as Eric Cartman would say 'i'm not fat i'm big boned' LOL) I mean, it's a corn dog wrapped in bacon and then battered and deep fried. Oh, and it is served with fries and cheese sauce, ya know for dippin'. These guys are one of the four carts at the Beergarden now which is great cause their food is so perfect with beer. If you ever are thinking about going on a diet, your last meal before going on said diet should be the Cartman.

Inside the outside patio... wait huh..

Wow I dont know how long this cart has been around Eugene but I am glad I finally learned about it and had the chance to test it out. I had the jalapeño popper burger with a side of reuben poutine and all I can say is it is worth the money. The poutine with cheese curds and shreds of reuben and sour kraut were enjoyed by myself and the group I went with. The ingredients tasted really good together. The burger was awesome in taste and a good size. The jalapeño poppers gave it a nice added flavor, possibly some spice for most although I usually like the spicier foods. Currently located in the back of the beergarden which is a lovely location with lots of seating indoor and out. There is a Revolving beer selection there so get some food and a a beer and have yourself a good time outside by the stage. Fully recommend giving this a go when you are looking to try something new and tasty.

Definitely my favorite food cart at the beer garden. Not too many good veggie burgers out there in Eugene, yet this hits the spot.

Great food, terrible service. Food is actually really good, but the owner is incredibly rude and seems to be trying to drive off customers

Thai Fusion - FRESH SALAD ROLL - no veggies other than lettuce! So disappointing.

Thai Fusion

4 stars for a pretty darn good noodle dish, relative to the average Thai food truck in Eugene. This…read moreis a noodle dish I ordered like a year ago, but I still remember it being good because it had the wide fresh noodles, plenty of flavor, and a lot of basil in there. I notice that their menu is huge, with a ton of specials. Great for those who want variety every time they come. 5 stars for friendliness and fast service. The guy who works there is as nice as can be. 1 star for salad rolls. It says "fresh vegetables" but the roll had one miniscule piece of tofu (1/2 inch wide?) and the rest is pure lettuce. I think there were a couple mint leaves in there. No carrots, cuke, cilantro, or any other kind of vegetable you can imagine, and barely any tofu. Peanut sauce was delicious and worth adding to the order, as the chili sauce it comes with is ok but syrupy sweet. Adding in the peanut sauce for $2, that came to $10 for lettuce. Inflation is hitting us all hard... restaurants included. But tofu and carrots are not that expensive, right? And if they ran out of ingredients, they should just say so. Yelping about petty things is not a nice thing to do. This review reflects my frustration about a broader pattern that goes beyond this one restaurant (which is why I don't include this in the star rating). Eugene restaurants often do not try to keep up basic standards because there's insufficient competition, and they get away with things that wouldn't fly in a big city. I wish more restaurants, including food trucks, took pride in what they put on the plate.

Consistently great food, quick service, nice people. Tried several things. Highly recommend.read more

Oregon Smoke Shack - 2 meat plate brisket and pulled pork

We stopped and checked it out. They have a good variety of smoked foods. The menu out front has all the choices except some special items at the window. My husband picked a pulled pork sandwich with sweet sauce and bbq beans and I picked the small slider meal with spicy sauce and Mac and Cheese. The food took no time and we got our meals. The pork is real and perfectly smoked-enough to be tasty yet not too smoky. I'm not a fan of smoke flavor but loved this flavor. The servings were generous. When you finish the sandwich, you will be full! We actually left most of the bun and ate the meat by itself to enjoy the meat flavors. The sandwich with sauce and one side was $9 and the slider was $5 with sauce and one side. They have a combo plate for $12.50 so you can try all the meats. I would definitely recommend the Oregon Smoke Shack! The food is real and real good. We will be back!

I wasn't super impressed with this place. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't fabulous either. The customer service is really what killed it for me. There was an older lady working at the window, and mind you, this is at the fair. So being able to hear anything is next to impossible. Plus she was several feet higher than me inside the trailer, and my voice isn't loud enough to travel far in the first place. The thing I noticed was that she seemed seriously pissed to even be there. That added with the fact I couldn't hear her over a million screaming kids on a ride ten feet away, and communication was difficult made me feel like I should have just canceled my order and gone somewhere else. The thing I remember most is she asked me what kind of sauce I wanted, spicy or sweet, and I really didn't care. Either one was fine with me, I just wanted to get my food and leave, and she angrily yelled at me to pick one. I order a chicken sandwich with a side of coleslaw. It was moist and tender, but desperately needed salt. The coleslaw was bland as well, and just really mediocre. If you don't enjoy what you do, it shows in the food, and the old woman's nasty attitude showed up in the food as well. Would I return? Nope. Food was three star, at best. Customer service was one star. So it averages out to a two star review, and there's absolutely no reason to return to any two star business. You gotta do better than that with me.

The trailer they're in needs some love but don't let that deter you. And they'd just had a lunch rush so they were already out of a couple things (at 12:20!) but she let us know right away so we didn't try to order something that was out. We got a chicken tender basket and a sweet heat honeybird sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. First - the mac is amazing. I haven't tried a new mac I've really liked in awhile, the crunchy fried bits on top were a great addition. The sandwich... well it was bit large! But its worth it. Probably could have had a little less of the bacon pimento cheese on it, seeing as most of it seemed to have squeezed out of it haha. Also, there wasn't much heat but there was a ton of flavor. Husband really enjoyed the tenders and his jo-jos, the hushpuppies were quite yummy too! Would like to try them again when they aren't out of things to try something new!
