I don't remember the name of this burger but it had pulled pork on it! And the mixed fries!
Jordan B.

I might be a KC girl but this was one of the BEST burgers I've ever shoveled into my mouth! I was headed back from a work trip and me and my boss, neither one were feeling well and neither one of us were overly hungry, so I know this is not a "she must have been really hungry" kind of review. The burger was tender and flavorful, the pulled pork was juicy and absolutely mouth watering (I can attest to this because I'm writing this a week later and am drooling on my thumbs!) The fries were perfectly crisp and seasoned to perfection and I've never had a better sweet potato fry (I got the mixed fries, which was an excellent decision on my part!) But wait, because this place was also adorable!! In the middle of Cherry's Gallery, we were surrounded by kitschy cuteness but it wasn't over the top. I just wish this place was closer so I could eat this burger whenever I w

So, I was reeeeally close to giving this place a 5 star rating, but there was a couple of things that kept me at a 4. The EU Burger was OUTSTANDING! Such an unusual combination of flavors that I absolutely loved. The Strawberry and Pecan Salad was also great, but was extremely difficult to eat because of the size of the lettuce. Not sure why restaurants don't either tear or cut the lettuce into smaller pieces? And the Bloody Mary was very uninspiring. Not bad per se, but definitely didn't measure up to the food served . Service was VERY good and the ambiance (OLD historical building) was to die for. Would definitely would come back, but would hope they'd step up their game behind the bar...

This is my favorite "go to" local restaurant for a casual Friday night (thank goodness their hours have extended again!). It's located in the back of an art gallery on the square in Carthage so you know to know what you're looking for. It has a great bar and a basic menu with just a little variety but not extensive. Probably one of the best steaks around, Cherry doesn't mess around with her quality of meat! I also love the chicken sandwich, it's ENORMOUS! The burger is also very popular and my husband loves the Reuben. It's worth calling ahead because they regularly have private events so you might wind up showing up and they are closed.

Patty melt and maple burger

We had the party melt and the maple burger. Both were very good! Our server was awesome! Highly recommend!

This popped up and I was pleasantly surprised when we walked in. The owners have taken care to give it some upscale touches. (The ladies restroom is selfie worthy.) There is one pool table, nice dining spots for groups and couples, a dartboard and a really nice couch area with a fireplace. The food was pretty good, drinks and service were great. Happy to have stumbled on this place. Just keep in mind it is a bar. There is music, karaoke the night we were there...the point being if you're looking for some place intimate to have a conversation over dinner this probably isn't it. If you're looking for a good casual time, highly recommend.

It is NOT fast food but everyone knows you rarely get good food fast. It has a bit of a 40s vibe with big band music as background. I didn't get our waiter's name but the ticket said Music Man. He is friendly, attentive and stayed busy. I had the Big BLT and onion rings. 4 slices of bacon with garlic mayo on toasted, thick sliced white bread. Plenty to eat and fresh. Excellent sandwich. The onion rings were almost as good as Chicken Annie's. Deb had the Big Dipper and broccoli cheese soup. They both looked delicious and since she didn't have a leftover to take home, I would guess it tasted as good as it looked. I didn't think they were overly busy for 11:30 so help them out and go try it.

However, what is not so funny, is that all their sandwiches are one high price of 15.75 which also included things like grilled cheese and fried bologna which is just crazy to me. Now, I got the French Dipper and it was good. However, it was not bursting with flavor so it was a bit disappointing IMO. The onion rings were hand cut, but did not save the day either, luke warm and just alright tasted. Nothing to write home about :(. They did take very good care of us with a tandem wait staff and that was fantastic!!

First I won't say the Deli is amazing, they make very good sandwiches like you might make at home, with home made breads, good quality meats and cheeses, fresh locally grown veggies at a good price. Okay, maybe you can't make this sandwich at home! Some of the meats and cheeses aren't available at any local grocery stores or sandwich shops. Also the soups are home made and equally good. Not NY Jewish Delicatessen good, but this not what they are trying to be. But I try to judge things within their environment and as to what they are presenting themselves as. We have bought spices, dip blends, jams, and meat here, all very good quality and clearly made by experts. It seems they have spices, herbs, flours and other mixes that seem from a bulk supplier while others are clearly prepared locally or right there in the back. Cleanliness. You could eat off the floors! Its really clean, I mean spotless. And you how you can sometimes get a peak back into the warehouse and prep areas and they are dim, ugly, and foul smelling? Not here, even the back prep areas and storerooms are super clean, bright and probably really nice to work in. I hate to guess but it appears to me that Circle E is run by Mennonites. I apologize if I guessed wrong. The women and girls are in pastel dresses and pioneer style head coverings. Many of the men I've seen wear suspenders, beards without mustaches that are well trimmed, and hats like many associate with farmers. Again, I apologize for not actually knowing. My point is there is a work ethic that makes me feel a bit guilty every time I go in. They are all working so hard and fast! Don't let the conservative clothing make you skittish, theses are friendly, professional and knowledgable people. I'm generally good at small talk with strangers but these folks are all business and to the point, still friendly and patient. On this last trip I came home with pecan whipped honey, locally made summer sausage and teriyaki-pinapple beef sticks. I had a great sandwich on homemade multi grade soft wheat with horse radish cheese (a favorite I cannot find anywhere around here) and everything else I wanted on it, for a couple bucks. A soda with an old world label from some brand I've never heard of but all the regular brands and a soda fountain is available too. Sitting outside you can enjoy the fresh area, watch the farms and talk to the friendly farmers and ladies who lunch coming and going. Sit on the very well crafted resin furniture on display (expensive but the kind of stuff that is going to look great 100 years from now). And simply unwind a bit. I've been out here 4 times now and each time the service is fast, friendly and helpful. Everything I bought from peanut-butter dip (amazing with sliced apples) to dry beans, to meats and interesting pasta mixes has been superior to grocery store products. 15 minutes East outside of Carthage and its another would, country life, with a glimpse of what an old western market might have been like, if it was ultra clean and no gun fights on Main St. at high noon.
