This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant in my life. Most of the tables in the restaurant were filthy, we had to sit at a table that clearly hadn't been wiped down and even once we sat down and got menus no one offered to clean it. We waited almost 20 minutes just to have someone come and take our drink orders; because it took so long we went ahead and ordered our food as well. We waited probably 45 minutes to get our food order, which consisted of two sandwiches and fries. They had 5 staff members working on the floor and apparently 7 in the kitchen and the place wasn't not even half full. It was extremely disorganized, it was like everyone that worked on the dining floor did everything everywhere just trying to scoop up whatever tables they could. We were there for over 2 hours and no one even came and offered us another drink after we had been waiting so long for our meal. We could hear one of the cooks in the kitchen yammering about how at least he wasn't drunk today, which was completely inappropriate. You walk in and it looks like maybe someone is supposed to seat you but there's no one at all even near the front entrance and there's no sign saying to seat yourself. Two different tables got up and left in the time we were there because they were sick of waiting for service. Once we finally got our food it was mediocre at best. We had empty plates and cups for nearly 20 minutes before our server FINALLY brought us our bill. It was overpriced for the portions and quality of food. While we were paying our server finally acknowledged the slow service by making excuses saying "Sorry it was so slow, it's really busy" my husband looked right at him and said "Really, it doesn't look very busy in here, it's more than half empty." And then the server tried to say that it was because everyone comes in at once off the ferry. Stop making excuses it just makes it worse and that was all we got after being there way too long. I absolutely, will not return and I will never recommend to anyone. read more

The Island Grill is a local watering hole in Marysville on Wolfe Island, and it just went through a massive facelift. I can't say much about the contrast between before and after, but I loved the after when I visited this past weekend. The patio is great; there is a bar outside, as well as three tiers to choose from. We opted for the low level, closest to the water. We didn't realize until later that it was a smoking section (who knew those are still available places?!), but that didn't bother us because for 90% of our visit we were the only people on that section. The menu options were told to us by our server; a range of brunch options including: standard breakfast, french toast, huevo rancheros, a burger and a few other items. I had the standard breakfast, which came with two soft poached eggs, home fries (hold the toast for me please!), yogurt, and a mix of both bacon AND prosciutto! That was a real treat. They also do pitchers of white and red sangria, and we really enjoyed the white. I'm looking forward to more visit tot the Island Grill already. read more

The food was damn good for what seemed to be a lakeside dive bar on first appearance. One of the best places we ate at on our trip to Kingston. Their tiered patio and umbrellas facing the lake are the perfect place to tear into their ribeye steak. Good caesars as well. It's the type of place we'd spend way too much time at if we lived here. read more

Was super excited to come to The Wolfe Island Grill because of the beautiful location. We arrived to the restaurant and it was fairly empty so we expected to be in and out in about an hour. We ordered our drinks and they came quick and then ordered aps and burgers. The aps took about an hour to come and the mains took an extra 45 minutes. On top of this, a member of our party had a nut allergy. All the dishes had detailed descriptions of what was in each dish so my friend assumed when she ordered the scallop appetizer it would be completely alright since it only mentioned having bacon and curry with it. When the dish came my friend was a bit skeptical so asked the waitress who brought us the food if there were peanuts. She said she didn't think so and left. A couple minutes later our actually waitress came running out and told my friend there were nuts. The waitress took the plate away. We asked if they had any benedryl just in case and they rudely said "obviously not, we're on an island". Luckily my friend didn't have enough to give her a bad reaction however since she didn't eat any and the dish was taken we assumed we wouldn't have to pay for it. The waitress ended up charging us for the dish and also argued with us when we asked if we could get it compensated since she didn't eat any. Never coming back again. The service is awful and food isn't good enough to make up for it. read more

There is this other little bright blue bar nearby with a patio on the water that we tried (I think it was actually called 'Patio') and it was absolutely HORRIBLE. Bits of soggy dead flies in the drinks. Asked the waitress about it and she said "that's patio life." Definitely go to the island grill instead, it's the safest and best bet you can make!!! read more

Such a cute spot. My boyfriend and I wondered over to Wolfe Island last month and stopped in at the wolfe island grill when we got hungry. I absolutely loved everything about this place. The patio is beautiful, we sat right next to the water and both raved about the food, I have the Atlantic eggs benny and yogurt with a mimosa and he had the club (?) with the watermelon salad and a smoothie. Everything was reasonably priced for what we got and honestly AMAZING, like would drive to Kingston just to get the same plates again amazing. The service was wonderful as well, our server was very attentive and had great recommendations on what we could do while visiting the island. Keep in mind, that the restaurant was not very busy when we were there and we were not in any rush to catch the ferry back to Kingston, but for anyone trying to catch a specific ferry I would suggest just letting your server know that you have a bit of a time crunch :) All in all, wonderful experience that I've already recommended to many and they've all had similar experiences! Menu looks great and very foodie. I've gone here through 3 owners. Now they served me a half-raw chicken sandwich...after a few bites I saw it. So, first they took their time making a new one while we ate the fries. We were ready to go when they brought the cooked sandwich out. THEN they brought us a full bill. I asked the server to discuss a discount with the manager...and she brought back 25% off. Here's hoping that saved $4 covers the pepto I may need later! I'm not a tourist. Ventured over to the grill in the summer and the patio was so nice. I couldn't believe that people could boat right up to the patio! They offer blankets if you get chilly which was a nice feature, as I'm always cold when I sit outside. The food was exceptional but it did take a while to come out, though we weren't in any rush. We had the Wilton aged cheddar cheese bread with the works and also a nacho platter. I really liked that the menu shows fast vs. slow items if you're in a rush to catch the ferry. I will be back again, but not on a day where I've got a laundry list of stuff to do. read more

Nice spot on Wolfe Island. Very slow service, ridiculous pricing ($38 for jambalaya? $20 loaded burger? $26.50 for chicken nachos) and disorganized kitchen. We saw our food and many others just sitting under lamps while everyone waited patiently for their food. This was my first time at The Wolfe Island Grill, and for me, first impressions are everything. The server seemed unfocused and rushed. From the time we ordered to the time we got our food was OVER AN HOUR and it was not just for our table. I can understand the food taking long if it was very busy, which it was, but even after a lot of people left the speed had not improved, However, the food was pretty good and the view was great especially with the sun setting. This is a beautiful location, right on the water with heated patios and blankets if your chilly. I've been in the dying heat in the middle of summer and the breeze and smell of the island is fresh and lovely and just a quick ferry ride away from the thick hot muggy air in downtown Kingston. (you can even park in Kingston and walk over its that close to where the ferry docks on the island) In fall the autumn leaves take on a whole new aroma and with the sun setting earlier makes for some spectacular views and pictures. Staff is amazing, efficient, and informative about the food and also the islands other attractions. The food does take a little time but everything is made to order and the freshness and presentation is immaculate and definitely fine dining quality and experience. Even the plates, glasses and silverware is over and above a normal restaurant. Every detail has been addressed right down to garnishes on the meals that give it the extra visual pop. The selections of drinks, wines and frozen cocktails is more than adequate, definitely something for everyone's unique tastes. AND THATS NOT ALL!!! The restaurant also supports the farmers on the island, getting allot of produce and meats right from Wolfe Island. There is even wine available that is made on the island! AND Even the paintings inside the restaurant, I am told are by a local artist on the island!!! And are for sale as well!!!! I've eaten here so many times I recommend trying everything, I've never had a dish I didn't like, but I must say their steak is to die for!!!! A convenient place to grab a quick drink or snack whilst waiting for the Wolfe Island ferry. We had caesars which were, to my surprised delight, actually very spicy. We didn't have time to eat but our efficient server was clearly practiced at getting people in and out in rhythm with the ferries, so I think you'd be well looked after if you chose to eat. Staff was pleasant but very disorganized though the restaurant was not busy. Food took 90 minutes to arrive. Steak was mostly gristle. French fries were cold. I was seated near the kitchen and couldn't help but overhear one customer complaint after the other. I regret eating here and I regret not having read the recent Yelp reviews first. read more

Not enough staff. My bf and I stopped in on our way to a concert on the island and were starving after leaving work, cruising on the ferry, etc. We sat down and ordered drinks, couldn't order food, waited 20 mins for a wait staff, then were told a burger would take an hour. Also we were told the whole patio was reserved, so we were left wondering why they didn't have more staff on for the volume. There were lots of empty tables... Really did notttt enjoy this my experience at this restaurant. The restaurant and patio are beautiful, but the food took 40 minutes to come out. I ordered a wrap, assuming that it was going to be a substantial lunch, as other wraps and sandwiches I saw (coming out of the kitchen) were large and full. Each half of the smoked salmon wrap couldn't have been more than the size of a credit card, with a palm sized room-temperature watermelon and feta "salad" on the side (all of which came out to $18). One half of the wrap had pretty much only spinach, and each half maybe had one bite of salmon. My friend's burger came with about 11 fries, while other plates seemed to have a good pile. Would not recommend if hungry - definitely needed a snack right after this meal. Really disappointing! read more

Drove up from Belleville to see Fred Eaglesmith but when we got there it was over sold.The concert was inside where they had 30 chairs set up, all reserved with no one in them. We were told we would have to go out on the pattio to watch,where there was no view of the band, and exposed to a cold autumn breeze off the lake.The owner was completly indifferent to our concerns and said that this was normal. We stood around on the patio for 1/2 an hour and left. What a waste of $30 per ticket and 1 1/2 hours travel time. Hope the locals shut him down as I hear they are annoyed with him as we are. read more

Best brunch I've had since I moved from New York. The service was excellent and the food was tasty and refreshing. I ordered the burger and a watermelon, feta and mint salad. Highly recommended. My girlfriend got the eggs benedict with portebello mushrooms and zucchini. Loved the atmosphere, the music and the friendly staff. I lived in Kingston for years and never went over to eat on Wolfe Island but recently, while on a military course, we had a group outing to there for dinner. The enjoyable ferry ride aside, the location of this place is excellent. Right on the water starts the experience well. The staff was friendly and highly capable. We were a group of about 20 and the servers didn't bat an eye. We had a main server assigned to us but the other staff augmented as needed so we never felt a gap in service. Drinks came quickly and the complementary bread/dip was fantastic, brought until we were satisfied and ready to order. Prices are not cheap and the menu is not extensive but it offered a mix. I ordered the stuffed chicken and they substituted risotto for potatoes with no issues. Others ordered the special steaks ,mussels and the burger. Rave reviews from all at the table. Mine was very very good and a generous portion. With a a few glasses of wine, my dinner was a reasonable $50. Others could eat for less and be really pleased. Another thing I really liked is they have a rabbit and turtle selections. Rabbit are those that can come quickly if you are trying to catch the ferry and the turtle is for those who are not in a rush. It mitigates any stress about the meal and you eat according to your own time frame. Well done and I would go back again in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone visiting Kingston. read more
