    House special (protein) Fried Rice

Great and quick place to get a bite to eat! We love coming here! Between the cool murals on the walls, the food is fresh and unprocessed, made from scratch and the owner is the guy behind the counter taking down your order. Restaurant was owned by owners uncle before him and was taken over a few years ago, so this is a local and very family oriented business. Also plays K Love in the background.

I just ordered from here today for lunch because it's the closest Chinese restaurant to my office. I was very pleased with the ordering process and it was delivered within 20 mins... need to mention, my office is 5 mins away from this place. My order and rating is we follows: Hot n Sour Soup: 0/5... I've never had such a soup.. it was like somebody had dumped a cup of sugar in it!!! Had literally 5-6 slithers of ginger and a piece of spring/onion. Nothing else! Just sickly sweet gravy type texture.. didn't even resemble a broth and certainly didn't have a soupy look .. or taste! Sweet n Sour Chicken with Low Mein: 2/5... the low mein were like regular low mein. The sweet n sour chicken had ample pineapple, hence the rating of 2. Chicken was very tough and chewy and the gravy tasted sweet .. no sourness there. Thai Fries: 0.5/5... very disappointing! I was most excited about this but instead of having chili on them, they used sweet chili sauce and sooo much that the fries were not only sweet but soggy and limp. :( Overall, a very disappointing experience.

So, we checked in the Holiday express nearby this and doordashed as soon as we landed to Lexington. Perfect timing is key! Our food was delivered just as we checked in the front lobby. We order the Pho ritto which is an awesome take to pho soul. It was a hefty and delicious size. Along this are the drunken noodles with shrimp and orange chicken. This was the perfect solution for hungry travelers!

Placed a to go order of $75 for a party of 7 Hands down the worst Chinese food we've ever had. General tso's chicken was not even breaded, all orders looked the same. Unseasoned, bad sauce, bad all-round. Everything had a bad chemical taste. Nothing looks like the photos on the website.

Great, friendly customer service. I felt welcomed and appreciated. The food lived up to its best reviews. Fresh spring rolls. Sauce was tasty without relying on being spicy like so many places do these days. Best crab Rangoon I've had. Lunch portion plate was more than generous and excellent quality ingredients. Even if I'm not back to the same hotel, I'll walk to come back.

WOWZA! It looked like a hole in the wall from the outside but lit up our tastebuds like the finest cuisine. From the first bite of an egg roll (it's ok if you are vegan - no egg in the eggroll) my hubby and I knew we'd be back. Something for everyone on this menu.... seriously. The egg rolls are made in-house as are all the sauces. We ate at the cafe but bought extra egg rolls to take home and share with our adult daughter (who is a bit hard to impress); she immediately asked, 'Where is this place?'. We will buy extras to freeze next time, since we live over 3 hours away. Stop by and try this place out folks. It is truly amazing. Oh, Kentucy twist: there is even a Bourbon sauce (the only sauce that isn't vegan). Service is friendly, fast, stellar. Serving sizes ample (more than we could eat at one sitting).

Veggie Roll (what was left before I ate it all)

Great food & great atmosphere! Everything on the menu except for a very few things are gluten free. The owner talked with us as we ate and he's been gluten free for 6 yrs, so he was very knowledgeable about what was safe for those of us that need GF. I had the sesame chicken & veggie roll (it had been so long since I had had an egg roll & it was so good), and my husband had the drunken noodles and Thai fries. All of it was awesome!

Mongolian with steak, Egg Drop Soup, and Potstickers (5).

My husband and I ordered carry out from The Wok for the first time and we were super disappointed. Our order included Mongolian with steak, sesame chicken, pot stickers, egg rolls, and potstickers. All items were either too sweet or included a sauce that was too sweet. Specifically, the Mongolian beef and egg drop soup were so sweet they were not edible. I would save your money and advise you try another restaurant in town before ordering from The Wok.

On Sunday, July 5, we went to J2C for lunch. A male server seated us at a table that was quite dark and directly under a strong air conditioner. I politely asked if we could move to a table by the window. He said yes, but told us to wait while he cleaned the table. My husband and I waited patiently by the other table, looking through the menu. During that time, we saw the male server come out several times to serve other customers, but he never came back to us or acknowledged that we were still waiting. We didn't complain--we simply continued waiting. 15 minutes later, a female server noticed us waiting there and asked if we needed anything. I explained that our original table was too cold and asked whether we could move to the window table. She said yes, cleaned the table, and then waved for us to come over and sit down. At that point, everything seemed fine, and we were looking forward to ordering our lunch. However, shortly afterward, the male server walked directly over to us and began scolding us. He said, "You need to learn to be patient. I told you I would clean the table, and you shouldn't have moved without communicating with me." I calmly explained that the female staff server had cleaned the table and told us to sit there. I asked him, "What did we do wrong?" He replied, "Yes, everyone made a mistake. You just need to learn to be patient." I still don't understand what we did wrong. The female employee who told us to move to the window side table was also works for the restaurant, We simply followed her instructions. So why were we being blamed? From the moment we entered the restaurant until we left--nearly 20 minutes later--the male server never once came over to check on us or even offered us a glass of water. In the end, we decided not to eat there because we did not feel respected or welcomed. We will not be returning. This was an extremely disappointing experience and reflected very poor customer service and restaurant management. I sincerely hope the management will look into what happened and ensure that all customers are treated with courtesy, respect, and fairness.

I liked that our pop tasted good, not too watery or flat. We ordered the orange chicken and mongolian beef. The temperature of the food was great. The flavor on the orange chicken was very pronounced, very tangy and yet sweet. There were fresh chunks of carrots, green pepper, and zucchini with sliced orange peel. The chicken had very light breading but was a little on the dry side. The Mongolian beef cuts were thinly sliced, good cut of beef not chewy but there was an overwhelming amount of red, white and green onions. It was a little bit much. Surprisingly the flavor on them was not overpowering though, they were well cooked and more subtlety flavored, just alot of them. Overall, it was a very good experience and we'd go back again. The food was delicious, the service was fast and friendly.

And their Kung Pao tofu delivered all that I could have hoped of it. A packed full container of finely cubed fried tofu (one hack for anyone that doesn't know how to make tofu taste good: you should probably cut it smaller to give it more surface area to absorb whatever sauce you're cooking it in) as well as some diced carrots, baby corn, and quite a lot of peanuts in a brown sauce with just a bit of spice. I also got some sesame noodles, which is one of the more basic versions of the dish I've had, which is basically just noodles with a dollop of spiced peanut butter to spread around and coat them with. This probably sounds like a dig, but it's pretty satisfying and the noodles themselves had a nice soft texture. It was, as I would expect, a ton of food for the money. Basically the whole interior of this little building was devoted to what looked like a clean and organized kitchen. Fancy? Authentic? No, but American Chinese cuisine is a subculture of its own, and this seems a good example of it. I definitely think it would be worth returning to try their other tofu dishes.

The shrimp rolls were below average... mostly lettuce, the shrimps were dried out, and they took about 10 extra minutes to come out. The crab rangoon was the biggest disappointment; the filling had an unpleasant smell and tasted like heavy, clotted cream cheese and there wasn't even an iota of imitation crab meat to justify that name. Overall, there are a few bright spots, especially the soup, but the food quality and atmosphere were inconsistent.
