My bf and I have been trying to check this place out for a while, but they would be closed each time we would go (even though the website says open). I now know to check their instagram for daily updates. The venue is great. Very big, spacious, and clean. Great ambiance. But weird rules and weird management. The menu on the website is not updated and the bartender said to completely ignore what is on there. Ordered the fried chicken tender basket + espresso martini. Both were just okay. The tenders were overly fried and the chicken was dry. People next to us were all eating the burger and it looked/smelled delicious. I'll definitely check that out again next time! I love the old school r&b playlist and there are many TVs with all sports playing constantly.

I went to the Winston for my friends husband's birthday on 4th of July weekend after hearing so many great things about their brunch parties. We were very excited to enjoy some music and good food. Unfortunately, we were only able to do one of the two. They did not have a DJ that weekend as our server said it was due to the holiday which was quite disappointing and the only reason why I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars. I wish it had been announced on their Instagram page or something. I got the espresso martini and the chicken and waffles. The chicken was the best chicken I've had with a waffles dish in my whole life! It was that good. It has a kick of heat to it and was so juicy and delicious, 10/10. I would definitely be going back to get the full party brunch experience next time they have a DJ!

The view is amazing at the Winston. It's located behind the Dave & Buster's on Delaware Avenue. It's pretty hidden and easy to miss . We enjoyed the ambience. The music was great and the Chicken Sandwich and waffle fries were good. The service was excellent.

Love the ambiance and vibe. The overall service was lacking from the experience but food and drinks were great!

What's Wrong With The Winston? Understaffed, many kinks to be resolved, okay food. The Winston has the potential to be a great place to grab a drink and a bite to eat. Pros: DJ on weekends (sometimes) $5 mimosas Nice decor Cons: Food looks like my teenage son could have made it. My waffle was as thin as an ego waffle, the hash brown sandwich is a joke it's literally 2 frozen hash browns! Nothing on the menu that stands out Not enough waitstaff. I understand that everyone is understaffed but on one specific visit a manager (possibly off duty) was making one (of two servers) on a busy Sunday specifically cater to a table of their family. This was extremely unprofessional (on the manager). DJ is not a regular occurrence. We specifically chose the Winston the day party brunch feel and it was not that. I gave The Winston 4 tries and each time my experience got progressively worse. I'm hoping this is just first year hiccups because I really want to love this place.

My boyfriend and I wanted to try this spot for brunch. When we arrived we found parking on the street nearby. We walked in and gave my name for the reservations and decided to sit at the bar. Del was our bartender and she was ok. For drinks we got the $5 mimosas and they were good. For entrées we got the chicken and waffle sandwich which was good. The DJ was bumping and they had the derby and bball game on. We had a good time.

Went on a Saturday for Brunch, we were a party of 4. $5 Mimosas, $6 breakfast shots, $10 espresso martinis. The food & drinks were delicious & having a live DJ was the cherry on top! The service was the best. Everything was clean (including the bathrooms). If you are looking to have a fun grown up brunch with friends this is the spot!

Love coming here for events, I typically have the honey chicken sandwich which is really good. Probably one of the better sandwiches in the city in my opinion. Service is always great especially for how busy they are.

HAPPY HOUR $7 Espresso martini! Delicious!

Great happy hour! Espresso martini was delicious. Chicken wings were yummy. Sliders were small but still good. Unfortunately, we were the only people there during 6/7pm on a Friday night. Waitress was slow and inattentive (and we were her only table lol) but we were patient. Location isn't the best honestly. Hopefully more people will come try this place! Will be back :)

Came to The Winston for brunch with friends. They normally have a DJ on the weekends providing the vibes but he was not present when we went Sunday. The ambiance & vibes were still on point. The Winston was able to make up for that by playing a great music playlist from their phone. Whoever's playlist they were playing was pretty good and a few of my friends mentioned they wish there was a dance floor. We settled to some chair dancing instead. Our waitress was attentive and took care of us. We all came with our appetites and ordered a wide variety of items. I took advantage of their $5 mimosas. A few girlfriends tried the brunch shots and they said they were good. For brunch, I had their Chicken and waffles. The Chicken and Waffle was served with a nicely seasoned chicken breast and the waffles were thick and fluffy in texture. My only gripe about my dish is that I wish my chicken was a bit bigger. I also sampled the avocado toast and the home fries from what my girlfriends ordered and they were both delicious. Overall we had a great time and there were no complaints about the food. I'd definitely come back! Great vibes, great food and reasonable prices

Tiny pockets of garden squares with burbling fountains. Cobblestone streets. Around every corner is a sign or plaque boasting about this city's history. From the outside, it looks like you're walking into an old bank. Inside, it's just about 6:00 PM and the place is packed for happy hour (one of the few places, by the way, that has happy hour until 7:00 PM) and for one of the monthly talks sponsored by local science museums. As soon as I walked in, they found us an open spot right up front. A cheery waiter took our order - the $8 burger sliders didn't come with any fries, but they were tiny and delicious. I love the idea that this place sponsors monthly science talks. Just a bunch of nerds all gathered here to listen to local experts talk about different topics. One week it might be about rare Galapagos birds to how to preserve fossils or the etymology of vampire lore.

With the help of Yelp, we found this place. First off, the building that houses National Mechanics is absolutely beautiful inside and out, and for good reason. The pub/restaurant occupies the old Mechanics National Bank, a majestic Greek Revival building, built in 1836. Inside the restaurant, the surroundings contrasted greatly with the outside. The large, primarily wooden interior has the feel of a vintage pub. It is equally as beautiful as the front. The service at National Mechanics was great. Though the staff was clearly running shorthanded, every employee we came into contact with served us with a smile and couldn't be friendlier. The food, at least on that day, was mediocre at best, unfortunately. While the menu was filled with all sorts of tempting dishes that already made us thinking of future visits, we opted for the Mexican Burger and the Ribeye Cheesesteak, two twists on old pub standbys. Sadly, we were both disappointed in our meals. We did start off on a bright spot, food-wise. My friend and I opted to share the Batter-Fried Pickled Green Beans, which were fabulous! Too bad the good food ended there... The description of the Mexican Burger sounded amazing, with avocado, pico de gallo, pickled jalapeños, Monterrey Jack cheese, and chipotle mayo. My friend said it was kind of bland and it was quite greasy. My ribeye cheesesteak did not match well with its "Amoroso" roll and the steak itself was dry. In the end, we were both disappointed in our choice in a lunch spot. Perhaps it was the large crowd of diners and little staff that made it all come out a little...off. In the end, I'd try National Mechanics again if I were in the area, as the atmosphere and service made it a cool spot to dine in. Hopefully the food will be better next time.

Huge bar, giant wall of liquor bottles, dim lighting, and a cool old-school vibe. I told the bartender that ordering a beer in a place like this felt like I was insulting him. He laughed and told me not to worry about it. The drink special was called "Naked and Famous," which honestly sounded like the perfect cocktail to order in honor of Jen. But then I spotted a dark beer on the menu that sounded too good to pass up. If you follow me, you know I'm slowly becoming a dark beer guy. I liked it a lot. The sandwich special was a cheesesteak. Sorry, I should've taken a picture of the menu. But I really enjoyed it, and for $18 it came with a mountain of seasoned fries, which feels like a bargain these days. Bomb Shell: the two people working absolutely crushed it. I don't know if they were understaffed or if Monday night got busier than expected, but they were working their tails off the entire time. Even with that, they stayed polite, friendly, helpful, and incredibly accommodating to the guy carrying around a mannequin. Great visit to Sassafras!
