    Half-grilled Cornish Game Hen

After watching Topside Tavern replace the unsightly remains of whatever was there before (the building was empty when I moved to Philly), I decided to give it a try for lunch one day with a buddy of mine. I will say the the restaurant is much more pleasing to the eyes than before, with a beautiful stone facade and a tastefully decorated, all new interior. The space felt smallish, exacerbated by what seemed like too many tables that made it feel a bit crowded. Nevertheless, the place has a nice, cozy atmosphere. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by the friendly host and seated right away. The restaurant wasn't too crowded at lunchtime, which I had expected from passing by it often. (I have noticed that it seems to have a nice happy hour crowd.) Our waiter was friendly and efficient. The menu is American faire, with plenty of tasty looking options for all of the courses. For lunch, I opted for a cheeseburger and truffle fries, which had a sprinkling of fresh parmesan cheese on top. Delicious! My buddy had the Half Grilled Cornish Game Hen, which he said tasted as good as it looked. All in all, if you're in the Rittenhouse area, Topside Tavern is a nice choice for a tasty meal. I will most definitely be back.

An amazing spot/ sport bar/ happy hour place with delectable food! The menu is not your usual bar food, but a much elevated affair. We tried a lot of shareables, and the lamb chops are to die for! They have massive TVs and a really great outdoor patio . Service is prompt and food is flavorful. What else does one need!

Grabbed breakfast at topside tavern on a Sunday and to my surprise there was live music. I ordered the basic ( eggs, bacon, potatoes, and grilled pita). The breakfast was good but I should have tried the duck andouille sausage. It was very busy I think there may have been only 1-2 free seats on the lower level! The roof top is now open but the weather did not permit for me to check it out.

Newer lively spot with a nice open atmosphere and lots of TVs to watch sports on. They also have a rooftop patio section. Drink menu has a decent amount of selections and cocktails are fairly priced. Food menu is a bit varied as well. Had Mediterranean platter and Bao bun appetizers. Both good quality and uniquely tasty. Bao bun had very tender beef with good seasoning. Pleasant spot to have a drink, staff friendly and welcoming. Will have to check them out for a happy hour as well. Thanks

The Topside Tavern serves brunch every Saturday and Sunday 10am to 3pm. They also have a jazz trio at noon. Gerson was very friendly and helpful. We tried the Good Morning Good Night breakfast pizza and the Ranchero Skillet. Both were delicious. There are so many great options on the menu that it was hard to decide. We had the Ridiculous Bread Pudding for dessert. Their regular menu also had tons of great options. They have a full bar and also serve Coke products. Great atmosphere and service. Definitely recommend and will return.

I have one thing to say... if you order nothing else order the curry duck bao bun. I promise you, you won't be able to eat just one. Was visiting Philly and stumbled onto this place as I was heading to my hotel. I was intrigued by the early happy hour and the duck bao buns tbh. Was the best choice I could have made. Very cute space for a date or happy hour with friends. It wasn't overly crowded and the servers were really nice. It feels like it may be new or many people don't know about it yet. Either way, loved the happy hour food and drink options and I would go again!

newer neighborhood restaurant with delicious food and a cute rooftop! i was excited to check out this restaurant since it is very close to where i live, and the food did not disappoint! we ordered the melting pot bao buns to start which were extremely juicy and flavorful. for my main, i had the SOMA jam burger which was the perfect combination of flavors. every bite here was absolutely delightful, no complaints about the food whatsoever! the only reason i cannot give this spot 5 stars is because the service was terrible. we were seated on the rooftop and then completely neglected for the entirety of our meal. the only times we saw our server was when he was dropping off our food. he never checked in on us, and our water was never refilled. we sat with empty cups for most of our meal before we tried unsuccessfully to flag our server down twice. perhaps the service would be better for the indoor seating... it's a shame because the food was so good.

Easter brunch reservations at 12 noon on rooftop. Great Sunday morning brunch, had reservations. We were not rushed at all which was appreciated on this particular Sunday. Sat immediately and given opportunity to review menu. Food came out in a timely manner. Would absolutely visit again. When we left there was a 3 piece band playing light jazz on the first floor. Omelette and chicken & waffles were prepared perfectly. Very pleased with our visit. Bloody Mary's great too!

Very friendly waiters and bartenders. Comfortable indoor setting with a couple TVs for sports. Ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with salad. Got the sandwich but with fries. That's fine, I'm not the guy that sends anything back. The sandwich was really good and filling in itself. Perfectly cooked chicken. I'd get it again. The fries were good, not excellent, but nicely seasoned. I'd go back again.

Dear reader, We went…read moreto City Tap in Philly with a large group just for drinks and had a thoroughly good time. The $10 martinis on Friday were an excellent deal and definitely one of the highlights of the evening. A well-priced martini always sets a promising tone, and these did exactly that. The bartenders were helpful and kept things moving impressively well, even with a group our size, which was much appreciated. The space itself is huge and very clean, with plenty of tables and seating, so it was easy for everyone to spread out, settle in, and enjoy themselves without feeling packed in. A major point in its favour is the setup for watching sports. They have a massive wall of TV screens, plus more TVs throughout the space, which made it very easy to keep up with multiple games at once. No awkward craning for a view, no fighting for the one good seat, just a very solid setup for a group outing. Overall, it was a fun experience and very much in line with the good times we have had at other City Tap locations in DC. A lively, well-run spot for drinks and groups, and one we would happily return to.

Visiting Philly, we really wanted to go small business, micro brewery, but City Tap was one of the…read moreonly locations where I could find a gluten-free menu & they offered a lot of local brews on draft options- so we settled in. We ordered the ten-spice wings- and a gluten-free pizza- both were hearty, delicious, well-flavored devourable. The flight price on the menu says $14 for a local flight, but this has changed- it's priced per beer- viewable on Untapped App- so a flight is more like $18-20, because of the increased price- I opted for a pint, but the bartender was super friendly about allowing a few sip samples before deciding. The place had a great ambiance- the bar had sports tvs playing, the side tables had very happy hour chat vibe, and the back tables had a more intimate feeling. Overall, would recommend- it was a nice experience.
