Average spot. Go for beers before or after doing Eastern State Halloween nights to save some money. Tons of seating. Didn't try food. Staff was friendly enough.

Different Cheesesteak #1242. Spoiler Alert: I enjoyed my visit to Urban Saloon!! Fun place. Fun decor. Fun people. I sat next to a friendly regular. The bartender was great. He seemed genuinely concerned that he couldn't get the Wifi to work on my phone. My cheesesteak came with tots. My beer was very tasty. I liked the meat, cheese, fried onions, and banana peppers on my cheesesteak. I appreciate that they are using a fancy roll. Even though I have been called a sellout to fancy rolls, this roll, in its present state, isn't working with this cheesesteak. Scooping may be the solution. $16 for a cheesesteak and $9 for a draft hurt frugal me. All things considered, I enjoyed my visit!!

Went the night before Thanksgiving, but I've been going to Urban since I moved to Philly 10 years ago. It has become one of my go-to bar since I've always lived nearby. Gives the feel and look of a saloon with the wooden furniture and panels. Lighting tends to stay somewhat dim and works with the vibe of the bar. Music usually plays later in the night and there are TVs all around with different games to watch. The bartenders are always great! Make amazing drinks, have great personality and definitely put in work - the bartender that was there Thanksgiving eve night looked like she was working the bar herself, but she was getting it done and still had good energy, interacted with people with a smile and made drinks/placed orders in good time. Again, drinks are always made well here and can be strong depending on what you order and if a bartender you know is trying to show extra love lol. The food is always pretty good. Standard bar options with a few specials every now and then. The portion sizes are generous - I ordered the Urban Sandwich that night and took half of it home because I was not expecting it to be as big as it was. If you are looking for a bar with good drinks, energetic yet chill vibe and some hood food options while in the Fairmount area, Urban is the place to go.

This saloon is full of personality. It's rather big inside with plenty of seating! The servers are very knowledgeable and patient. The food came out quick and it was Delicious! I love the wood decor, it gave that ole school saloon feel!

This saloon/eatery/bar was across the street from Eastern State Penitentiary which we were visiting for a work event. Part 2 of the work event was meeting here for light apps and drinks. The pulled pork sliders were amazing that I will come back just for them. The staff was very friendly. I'll be back

Harvest salad, no added protein

Came on a Sunday afternoon after a visit to the penitentiary. Downeast Donut Cider was delicious, and the food was great too. Harvest Salad and Smash Burger. Only complaint was how long it took for a server to come take our orders and how long it took after we were finished for our server to come give us our check. Felt a little trapped lol. No extended wait for our food once ordered though. I would come back here!

Buttermilk Chicken Tenders

As you can tell, we devoured these tenders. Truly, some of the best tenders of my life and that's not even a lie. Fresh as f*** -- def chicken breast NOT tenders. So good! Our waitress was fantastic. She gave us FOUR delectable sauces. We were blown away. We were expecting heart burns and watered down drinks. Instead we had a great time with great food and great company!

PHILADELPHIA: in the Fairmount section of the city you will find Urban Saloon, a pub that serves up a varied menu with 12 beer taps and over 60 bottles/cans. Their food menu has everything from hummus to a Philly cheesesteak, to a warm chocolate chip cookie skillet, and so much more! We sat at the dog friendly outdoor seating for a quick drink and enjoyed the ambiance of the area on a nice summer day.

Stopped in here after coming out of Eastern State Pen and we were starving so i guess youre first meal after getting out of prison always tastes great! This was my first trip to Philly so I insisted i had to do 2 things before leaving 1)Run up the Rocky steps and 2)Eat a cheesesteak. I checked off the Cheesesteak here and while i dont know how authentic it was it was really good. Very good quality steak, seasoned well with provolone and peppers. The roll was nice and crunchy and the fries were so hot i had to blow on them to eat, they were also very crispy . I also got a Blood Orange Margarita that was very good with its chili lime salt crusted glass Gina got the Chicken Nachos and declared them the best nachos shes ever had! The place was really crowded as it was a football Sunday and pretty loud which was to be expected but a tad upsetting when the loud crowd roar was because the Phillies walked off my beloved Mets! Service was good as well.

Cubano and tator tots

My friend and I initially went to Jack's Firehouse and left after seeing their limited menu. While at Jack's, we quickly checked out Urban Saloon's menu on our phones and saw a lot more food options, so we walked over next door and sat at one of their outdoor tables. Urban Saloon was weirdly quiet for a Sunday afternoon. As I browsed the menu, I couldn't help noticing the variety of bourbons and whiskeys they have. While I wasn't planning on drinking any whiskey then, I was still very impressed. My friend and I both found something we wanted to eat from Urban Saloon's menu and kicked back a few beers as we waited for our food. Finally, our food came. I was so hungry that I scarfed down my Cubano sandwich, which was delicious. The tator tots that came with my sandwich were fresh and piping hot too. My friend also enjoyed her brisket sandwich. I can't believe I've been sleeping on Urban Saloon all this time.

Grilled Cheese with bacon

Both the grilled cheese and the wings were amazing. Service was great. 10/10 recommend

I visited for lunch during Restaurant Week, which I enjoyed because of its close proximity to the corporate hub in Center City where I work and for its solid menu. I was seated quickly at a high-top for my noon reservation. The restaurant is much larger inside than it looks, split in half with the left providing an upscale bar aesthetic while the right presents a quieter, modern lounge feel. (It seemed like service staff was directing those with previously-booked OpenTable RSVPs to the lounge side.) Service was great, as my waitress continuously checked in during my meal even as more customers arrived throughout the lunch period. I appreciated being offered to add fries on my burger order, as Village Whiskey didn't have it automatically added on the RW menu. The only drawback was she forgot to ask how I wanted my burger cooked, but it came out medium rare which is the way I eat it regardless. I trust that's how they default, which is a good sign. The Food Breakdown: Deviled Eggs (4/5) - Classic, solid, and a good starter. I honestly selected it since the other appetizer options didn't really appeal to me, but nothing spectacular or negative about it. Four comes with each order. All-American Burger (5/5) - Fantastic. I'm not a pickle enjoyer, but the acidity just blended into each juicy bite. The jam had a slight kick, and you can taste the fattiness within the double Wagyu smash patties. High-quality all around and a solid portion size. Duck Fat Fries (4/5) - They were well-seasoned, and each order comes with a small side of ketchup. Granted I didn't ask, but I almost wish they offered a spicy mayo instead because it would complement the crunchiness better. Overall, the food quality and taste were superb. My only caveat was the price, knowing that $35 after tax and gratuity for lunch (without an additional drink) is costly. I wouldn't be able to come everyday, but it certainly has my vote for sharing with others the destination that has an immaculate burger.

Then, after we waited again for them to take our card, they finally come again took our bill and card, and wait again.... then next they come back a bill with a different amount with no explanation why. We were very disappointed . At this point, we just wanted to leave because of all the waiting. Food is alright not worth with all this bad service. The bathroom is clean. NOT RECOMMENDED with the poor service and confusing bill..

Hostess was welcoming and they were kind when we were about 5min beyond their 15min lateness window (we did call ahead about it though). Our table was comfortable and attractive, but the lighting was such that somehow we were under a bright light while the rest of the room was quite dark so it felt a little on display. I also got a real "city vibe" from the other patrons, like just cold and pseudo-hostile as I've often felt from city dwellers as a suburbanite. No smiles or even acknowledgment from others as you walk to/from the bathroom or brush past someone getting to your seat. Just did not feel like any holiday was happening in there. Other places downtown don't seem to have this vibe despite their obvious urban demographic. It could be the cold weather, political climate, or just that crowd at that time, but that was the overwhelming ambiance I felt. Had the "All In The Family" bourbon flight, including Basil Hayden, Knob Creek, and Maker's Cask. Loved the Maker's Cask, was not a fan of the others. Also had a Michter's US*1 which was a lucky blind pick for me, very good! I will say our server was quite sweet and did a very good job. She smiled, made eye contact, and was knowledgeable about the food. She wasn't fully versed in the extensive whiskey menu but they really need some kind of manual or bourbon "Bible" to explain all the various batches and makers, so I don't discredit her for that, though Twisted Tail ought to be on top of that with a didactics for their bountiful booze. I acknowledge and second many photos and reviews saying seasoning was needed, particularly on meats. My husband needed salt to try to save his "prime rib" by which he was so disappointed and consequently grumpy the rest of the meal. My son's ham was good but not the highest quality. My short rib was okay but also needed salt. Sides were varied and plentiful, and all tasted decent. I'd have to say they redeemed the meal for me. The variety and selection were spot on for Thanksgiving, all the tastes and flavors you would want or expect of the holiday! Dessert was pies that tasted at least a week old. They were dry, flavorless (except sugar), and difficult to cut. After 2 bites I just stopped eating. Flavors were the predictable pumpkin, apple or pecan. It really doesn't matter which I ate because all we tried were equally terrible. They charged an obligatory 20% service fee. We added another 10% to it.
