Such a delightful Victoria Sponge cake.

While we were in Glasgow, we found this cozy little spot for afternoon tea on a chilly day, and it was exactly what we needed to warm up. The tea room upstairs is small, comfy, and has a great vibe. The window seats look right out onto the busy main street, and with the Christmas decorations sparkling, it made everything feel extra special. Our server was friendly, quick, and just really pleasant to talk to. I ordered the classic egg mayonnaise sandwich with crisps, and it was just right, with the perfect amount of onion. The Victoria sponge was the real winner though: light, fluffy, and filled with cream and strawberry goodness. And of course, a proper cup of tea tied it all together. I'm already planning to stop by again the next time I'm in Glasgow!

We visited for the classic afternoon tea and the whole experience was lovely. The large bay windows overlooking the castle made for a really pretty backdrop and a special experience. The tea was very standard but very good. The 3 tier tray of sandwiches, scones and pastries filled me up way more than I thought it would! The sandwiches were very classic as well as the scones. The lemon tart and strawberry tart were very good and not too sweet. I think we could've switched up the sandwiches and I wish our server would've shared a little more information with us. And you could also switch out the classics sandwiches if you preferred one over the other, but again I didn't learn of that until after we were served. If you're looking for something elaborate with tons of food/pastry/tea options, this isn't the place for you. But for the price of this afternoon tea I think it's a great option! We didn't need something super fancy, but we did want the fun experience of afternoon tea so this fit that perfectly.

We wanted to have a proper afternoon tea and this was such a wonderful experience! They had a wonderful selection of pastries that made it hard to choose, but the carrot cake was divine and I am happy about my decision. You get one free refill of your hot drink, so there's plenty to sip and chat. They have a standard or savory afternoon tea choice, and you can add gin and tonic or champagne to your selection. We loved our experience and the service!

Had such a great experience at the Willow Tea Room. Definitely make a reservation before you go because the place is really busy. The place features the high-backed Art Nouveau style chairs. You have a choice of ordering individual items from the menu or requesting an afternoon tea (they have two varieties -- one comes with pastries and the other is more savory). There's a lot of food so bring an appetite. Their Willow tea blend is really nice and smooth.

This restaurant came recommended by the host at our hotel and I'm so glad she told us about it. We had arrived in Glasgow around noon and I was craving scones and clotted cream! We arrived at the restaurant and were sent upstairs to be seated. Everyone who greeted us were extremely polite and welcoming. As soon as I saw that afternoon tea was available, I knew what I was having! I opted for the Ceylon tea and it was fabulous! My lunch arrived and consisted of cucumber and cream cheese, ham and cheese, smoked salmon and cream cheese and egg salad sandwiches. The next tier up was a beautiful scone with clotted cream and jam. The top tier displayed a delicious little lemon meringue pie. I had such a lovely time at this restaurant and everything was delicious. Honestly, I was so excited about my lunch I don't even remember what my husband had. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

This place is the best! Visiting a tea room for the first time on holiday, and I must say it was a pleasant experience. Only £13 per person for afternoon tea (comes with sandwiches, scones with clotted cream + strawberry jam, shortbread, and cake of your choice). The breakfast tea comes with milk and hot water. The tea is loose so they give a tea strainer. They have brown and white sugar cubes. There are two floors. The tea rooms are designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the upper floor is Chinese inspired. We were running a bit late for our reservation and the lady on the phone had no problem holding the table until we arrived. We got a romantic and private corner table with a nice view of the city center. Would come here again.

Excellent service! Delicious earl grey and jasmine green tea. The food was moderate but we were really there for the tea. Would recommend adding fans as it's a bit warm. Super cute decor!

I love these high back chairs!

Made reservations for tea. Service was good, food was good. Packed up desert to take back to the hotel, jet lag was killing us.

The menu has so many Scottish foods in it, there's no doubt this is a Scottish fare restaurant. I did have to look some of it up because even other Scottish restaurants hadn't had things like cranachan or rumbledethumps on their menus. Ordered were: bread, beef stovies, lamb rump, slow braised beef short rib, cranachan, and chocolate brownie. The beef stovies is beef stew with a potato pancake hat served in a cast iron cauldron. Very cool presentation, and quite a tasty stew inside. I liked the small cut of everything, so it was easy to eat. The lamb was so tender and flavorful, without being overcooked. I substituted rumbledethumps for the polenta so I could try some, it was a lot like mashed potatoes with some extra flavor in it from the cabbage. The black garlic emulsion was a little earthy but went with the lamb so well as a result. My only fault would be the mint drizzle being too sweet for my taste. The short rib was masterful, essentially fall off the bone, and a good herby rub. The desserts were a step down from the mains. The cranachan felt like it had bromelain in it, breaking down my tongue as I was eating it. Outside of that sharpness, a very tasty and solid dessert. The brownie was heavy and fudgy, so if that's your type of brownie then it's here for you. Otherwise it's too much on a stomach already packing the amazing dinner preceding it. All in all, what a place, what a meal, recommended.

I believe the mezzanine is free to hire during the week. First up - this place is really, really dark. I actually don't even know how it's so dark, even in the middle of the day. It really does take a bit for your eyes to adjust to the place. The decor is a bit outdated but nothing offensive and the mezzanine space is great as it's actually quite bright and cosy without being squashy (mind your head if you're tall!). There's a good wine list and they are reasonably priced. We had a few platters for our group - vegetarian and meat - and they both seemed to be very well received, particularly the red pepper hummus on the veggie platter. From what I remember, the platters are described as serving 2 people but I'd actually say it's more like 4 as they're really quite big. On the night we visited, it was really busy as it was Easter Thursday and so our reserved area was hotly sought-after by people looking for a seat. When I was leaving later in the night, there was lots of rowdy blokes downstairs so that was a little off-putting (but I was on my way out anyway). I expect that on a normal night this is a quite a pleasant bar to hang out in.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that all the food was that of the light bite nature - the pate and oatcakes went extremely well with my choice of wine (or so the waiter told me; to me, they were just incredibly tasty). Trying to choose which glass of wine I'd like was the hardest part - they have over 13 pouring wines, ranging from pinot grigios to prosecco...mmm... and that's not including the hundred other bottles we could have had (not that I would spend anywhere near £218 on a bottle of anything). It's a nice little place - it's got a rustic feel about it, and is frequented by a generally older crowd (ok, I'd say maybe 75% of the customers had greying or white hair, which isn't a bad thing, but I'm 20-something, and it's not EXACTLY my kinda place). I can see why it's popular - the food, the wine, and the ambience - and it has made me actually reconsider my initial statement - however, I may be a few years off becoming a regular, as yet.

Searching online for somewhere that was just a little bit different for a special occasion, we came across Le Petit Cochon and liked the look of the seafood choices on the menu. It was a Monday night, so they weren't exactly busy, and so the service was friendly and attentive, and we were soon tucking into our starters. We had the hot smoked salmon and asparagus as a starter, and straight away I realised that the food was going to be great, as the asparagus was cooked to perfection. Often the ends of the stems can get a bit stringy, but not here. Not stringy and not limp, just perfect crunch. For mains, we both had the pollock, which is a fish you don't see that much here, although it is becoming more popular. The portion size seemed a bit small, but in retrospect it was just right as it left room for some pudding! Again, the veg were cooked to 'al dente' perfection. Perfect! Sadly, we weren't allowed any alcohol as current restrictions prohibit drinking outside. I know, I know... we were still technically 'inside', but I wasn't prepared to argue the point. I'm not usually a huge fan of tapas eating - I prefer a more conventional starter/main course style of ordering, but with three of us we were able to order a good selection of dishes - their recommended three each - providing a good smorgasbord for us to choose from. The dishes were all very tasty, I particularly liked the Cocido de Judias Blancas (aka bean stew), and Patatas Bravas are always a favourite. I was a little disappointed with the Dorada a la Parilla (sea bass); given that it was one of the more expensive items on the menu, the portion size was a bit measly. It was, however, cooked just right. Clean plates all round and we were all satisfyingly full afterwards. Apart from a minor glitch on the drinks order - they forgot to bring one and I had to go and remind them - everything else was fine. So a thumbs up from us, and I'll happily return here in future.
