The switch was a bit tricky to find for it as I thought it would've been an outside light but it is a good thing I tried all the switches. It feels like which the slight juxtaposition of the light switch for the center of the room, they had read a prior review that said the room felt a bit too dark. While a typical motel and even hotels might not consider being accommodating to this aspect, this motel wants to stay at the top quality and rank wise and they really get it. Because of the area they are in and the competition with Maple Terrace, they want to stay competitive but they really seem to enjoy managing a motel here too. The staffer was telling me how this motel is #1 in the area and bragged about the breakfast. Maple Terrace seems very comparable with here but I get the sense they offer more food here. Seems like you can't go wrong by with either is my impression. If you've never been here before, you should start here for the fresh fruit offered if nothing else. The pool here is out of commission at the time of this review. I don't know where it is and I asked. I think the guy was trying to tell me it was being cleaned or needed a lot of work. This continental breakfast is one of the best in the area. I definitely ended on this place because it is still reasonably priced by today's standards and you get a lot for your money. You can tell a lot of care was put into everything and you aren't just another number. I wanted to take one of every fruit because it would guarantee I would eat healthy for a bit more but so felt embarrassed even though I probably could. The night before, they let me have two bottles of water and a sugar free apple juice and then gave me two more water bottles. With the weather and traveling, I would not turn down free water.

This place gets a bit of a bad rap...at least based on what I've read vs. what I experienced. We…read morestayed in building 9, in what I think was unit 2 (A and B). It was not perfect, but 4 of us stayed comfortably and we easily could have hosted 4 others although maybe less comfortably. Check-in and service we received were great. We called twice before coming, one call was better (a middle aged male I think) and one was less than optimistic (younger female) but the person did seem to warn us that they would try to get is to our unit by the 4pm check in time. Honestly, I don't fault someone setting expectations correctly so I didn't hold this against them-I prefer truth and by being a little concerned maybe that made me pleasantly surprised when they were prepared to let us in before 4pm (but we did arrive later than we would have had the lady not warned us). Also noteworthy - every conversation we had with guest services were very pleasant and there was ALWAYS someone or multiple people at the desk. This was in early to mid May just to give you context. The unit itself was well appointed if a little tired in some places (couch was a bit dated as were some of the dinning room chairs) but the kitch and baths seemed good, save low water pressure and hot water taking a bit to come up as someone else mentioned. Heating unit was good, never tried the A/C. All the locks, cable/TV, stoves, etc. worked flawlessly (minus a crack in a carafe that must have been there prior to our arrival), we were even able to hook up a streaming stick in one of the units (not the other because of the model of the TV) which helped us enjoy the unit a lot in the evenings. The Pool and Jacuzzi were fantastic. The temp of the Jacuzzi was warm-like it should be-so I do recommend either getting out as advised after 20-30 mins or going into the pool to cool off a bit before going back. I'm sure the timing of our visit was key but our party used the facilities several times before anyone else were using them-I wouldn't expect this but we tried to go at dinner time to have some time to ourselves and we got lucky every time...and that worked well as we are late eaters. The location we are use to because we have stayed down the road at the now closed Bentley Brook (which we loved) and love the location of the resort in Hancock. Due note, for almost anything you have a 15-30 minute drive to Pittsfield, Williamstown, etc. on the East Side of the mountain the place is nesteld or Stephenstown and New Lebanon to the West/Southwest. We have stayed in the Berkshires a lot over the years and really like this quiet area. We tend to take road trips on nice weather days and have been virtually every direction in a circe about 1.5 hours. Other than the obvious close towns of Williamstown, North Adams, Pittsfield, Lenox and New Lebanon (which has a few close decent/good restauants) we recommend day trips to Albany, Great Barrington, Bennington VT and Hudson/Catskill NY. Saratoga and Lake George are a little farther and would require a long day but are doable from there if you are ambitious. Def would stay here again in a few years...but we have been to the Berkshires in most seasons and are good on it now for a bit. Hope this helps someone make the decision.

Wanted to stay and extra night but she made us register through a VRBO site instead of just taking our credit card at the desk. No one reserved our room so it was available. She disappeared in the back to talk to her supervisor for about 20 minutes. I finally just cancelled and went somewhere else. Another incident was on the first day after arrival. My wife and I, along with about 10 other guests came to attend a seminar in the morning about things to do in the Berkshires. This after we also received a text reminder about the seminar the night before. No one showed up to host the seminar and finally another staff member told all of us the person hosting the seminar didnt make it to work. Disappointing. Great resort but a little added customer service training is probably necessary.

We were there on a Thursday (totally empty) and Friday (started filling up for the weekend) but even when more people were around there was no noise. Sleeping was lovely. The bed was nice, although they didn't give us a blanket and I wasn't quite sure why although the friendly woman checking us in did sort of explain. That's fine for the summer as it was quite warm. The AC worked wonderfully. The room had a hidden fridge (we thought it didn't have one until we randomly opened what we thought was a drawer and there it was) and it worked great. There was a microwave that wasn't super powerful but worked okay once we figured out we had to add extra time. The television was good and they had a list of channels which sadly had been missing in my last few hotel stays. The room was clean but not serviced due to COVID-19 restrictions which was understandable. My only complaint was the bathroom. The sink and shower had a very old faucet system that either went on too fast or was hard to turn off. The shower was a bit of a hassle with how long it took to get to a good temperature due to the two handles. It would also randomly go hot and cold so it really didn't matter if you waited to get the right temperature. I also didn't find it super clean, unlike the rest of the motel room. All in all, we were really pleased with our stay. I would recommend this motel for anyone staying in the area as it was clean, had a great price and was a fantastic starting point for exploring the area.

The bathroom was redone was very pretty with a round shower and mirror. The room was clean with some weathered furniture (a bit chipped and scuffed), but functional. Coffee in the morning was weak and breakfast left much to be desired, but at least it is offered. The door knob levers on the front of the doors were loose and the doors were not flush to the doorframe so it never felt fully closed. But that is a 4 star review for me. The 3 stars came when I got a follow up charge on my card a day later without warning, and when I called, the owner told me that I had been charged for a missing glass. I told him I did not have the glass and told him where to locate it (in fridge where I left it). He wasn't very nice about it and treated me like I did something wrong. He said he'd call me back and never did. Needless to say, I will not be back. I hope they find that glass.

The owner made me feel welcome, even as I checked in just before 2am, and encouraged me to call down to the office if I needed anything. After 12 hours of driving it was a fortunate find. With driving rain and a road detour making it harder to find, I am glad I made the effort. While not as slick and high tech as some of the motel chains, it is modern enough and comfortable enough that I'll certainly stay here again.
