Love, love, love The Willcox. We had a couples massage with Catherine and Don. It was a nice experience, relaxing and exactly what we were hoping for. I highly recommend the spa!

Beautiful Southern Charm... perfect date night:))

Wonderful restaurant from entrance to the dinning room. Drinks and food are fabulous. Hostess was nice and waitress provided excellent service. Recommend to everyone... We had oysters, lamp chops, wedge salad, and salmon. Everything delicious !

The Willcox is a beautiful, historic hotel featured in Travel & Leisure magazine and many others. They have ample parking in front of the hotel and the staff is wonderful. The architecture of the property is stunning. My sister and I visited for a weekend trip and had a lovely time. We settled in and then went for happy hour, which gets really crowded as many locals enjoy coming here as well. We opted to enjoy our mint juleps on the front porch and it was very serene. I forgot one of my toiletries so I called the front desk and they provided it complimentary. This was wonderful service that I really appreciated. The furniture and decor is very classic featuring a lot of rich, dark wood pieces. The breakfast was delicious, hot, and fresh with a variety of traditional foods (bacon, eggs, pancakes). Overall, it was a wonderful weekend.

Shout out to Deidre! She was working the early morning shift when I stopped to drive someone to the airport. Although it was 5:30am, she was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed! We chatted while I waited for my person to checkout. She even offered me some coffee or tea... so hospitable! It smelled like a log cabin, I'm considering staying for a night eventually.

A true treasure of Aiken! Upon arriving you know you've come to somewhere special. Whether you're staying in the beautiful hotel or just having a lovely lunch by the pool or in one of the other lovely locations. Perhaps you're stopping in for a drink by the fire or to listen to some jazz music. It's truly a special place! If you're lucky enough to come during the holidays it's truly magical!

The staff member (woman) who greeted us showed none of the southern charm we hear so much about. We felt like we were a burden during check-in. We saw her one other time, and she didn't ask how things were going, and walked away from the desk when we walked toward her w a question. She was not present when we checked out. Aside from the blasting AC--joy to our northern ears--we were really disappointed with our room (the one at the top of the stairs in the main building) and generally underwhelmed w the hotel experience. Upon closer inspection you see that the hotel is shabby and in need of some attention. The issues w our room included: the dresser drawers having improperly long bolts/screws which snagged clothes multiple times, nearly ripping items. The room didn't look clean; stained carpet, as well as areas of carpet w water damage, as the AC unit dripped nonstop. It's safe to assume the staff is aware of the problem, as there is noticeable staining on the wall under the drip. All of this extra moisture left the carpet soggy under the AC vent, and the room smelling musty. There were stains from, god only knows what, over our bed. And the cherry on the cake was the cockroach we saw running around our bathroom on our last night. We've stayed in loads of hotels in the south and have yet to have had that happen. The one saving grace was the kind cook. Suffice to say we won't be going back.

When I did talk to someone in reservations, they were rude arrogant, and wouldn't let me talk and hung up on me. Our confirmation email indicated that we had a refund. The woman robot I talked to in canceling reservations said we had a nonrefundable rate. Not tru, we did in our email confirmation. She also disconnected me. This is a terrible way to run a business and I will never go back and never recommend it to anyone.

Stay in the main building. If you room faces the street, you will not hear the bar. The elevator is an antique and must have the reception come run it for you. The stairs make you feel you are in a fabulous time warp. Also the 12' ceilings, giant windows, and excellent period architectural details. It also really looks the part for the ghost rumor we heard. Downstairs with lobby entrances are a bar and an Indian restaurant. The exit out back through a very New Orleanian crumbly terrace was packed with people from 6pm on. You can walk all over from here but must like shabby chic and Southern friendliness. Our AC worked fine, room was old and clean, plenty of towels, toiletries and breakfast. It reminded us of shabby fabulous places in NYC and New Orleans. And, a surprising bargain (2bed room + breakfast + downtown parking= $78.) for the center of town.

The morning breakfast was very satisfactory with a few premade breakfast sandwiches as well as Scrambled eggs ,pork sausage, waffles oatmeal assorted breads as well as fruit. We had recently stayed at a very nice residence Inn that is similar but clearly a step above in terms of quality of furnishings, size and kitchen appliances. This TownePlace suites however was more than adequate for our needs and would certainly stay here again. I asked the young girl at the desk how old the unit was and she said she did not know but she followed up on it and gave me the information in the breakfast area a few minutes later. As a sidenote, when I checked in I asked if room upgrades were available since I am a Marriott gold elite member and the manager said since I had booked with points I was not eligible for an upgrade. I inquired how much my room would be if I was paying cash as I might then do that in order to get the upgrade but the price he gave me of $175 was more than I was willing to pay so I stuck with the original booking
